The Smashing Pumpkins Definition of Alternative from 1993-2000
austiniskoge replied to CIGrules's topic in General Discussion
Billy Corgan's solo stuff is excellent.I think if they had a reunion, I would pass out and then come back. And then listen to it in rapture.I think Smashing Pumpkins is the most widely underrated band of the 90s. -
Ahh! Big Mistake! How Do I Get This Program Back?
austiniskoge replied to austiniskoge's topic in Websites and Web Designing
It's alright, guys. I used nightfox's advice, and it worked! It took me a few tries, but after a while I figured out how to keep my old stuff and my new stuff. Thanks for the feedback. Also, I have allocated my HD space better... I finally figured out that programs should go on the C:/ drive and data files on the D:/ drive. My dad was like "Duh". Anyways, thanks a lot guys. I now have my computer back in business! -
Sounds like you have just voided your warranty. Sorry, buddy, but you're pretty much on your own now. Sure, you can ask for help on the internet, but Apple is gonna turn a blind eye since you opened the iPod up.I'm sure you knew that already, so I'll get down to it. You're probably going to want to get a new iPod.With that said, let me try to help here. Replace your old iTunes with version 7. It might just magically see your iPod again, in which case you're good.If that doesn't work, connect the iPod to someone else's computer (but don't clear the hard drive), using someone else's cable. This might work, meaning you've got to check up on your own computer's competence. This is pretty much all you can do, but try slight variations (reformatting the hard drive to Mac, plugging it in at the Apple store, etc.) to see if you can salvage it.Personally, I think the 5th generation iPod is the bomb anyways.

Is Mass Never Created Or Destroyed? Or is that energy?
austiniskoge replied to ebbinger_413's topic in Science and Technology
So, there you go. Here's a mini- study guide just in case you weren't paying attention at school. By the looks of it, the dude who started this thread was either asleep or "chemically impaired" while sitting in on an important lesson.Ah, high school. -
If this is indeed true (which I will most likely not believe 100% unless I see some more solid proof), then this man is mentally unstable. What kind of person is able to knowingly and willingly go without water and nourishment, not to mention a restroom break? No person in a normal state of mind could even attempt this. So, this does bring up the issue: can videogames cause you to be unstable?

Notepad is good if you're a beginner, a diehard pro, or need to work out specific code without the distraction of extra stuff.MS Frontpage is "meh". I don't like it much. It's like white bread in a world of cinnamon bagels. :PI like the one that OpenOffice has. I think it is called NVU. Not bad for free, but as you know, it adds its own little touches to the code. Sometimes it'll throw you off guard as well.

This is pretty cool. I noticed that most of them are of people (looks like friends of yours) smiling or laughing. I would like to see more varied emotions and backgrounds.Sorry if you have lots of other different stuff, I wasn't about to click through 50 pages of photos :PAlso, I understand that the color flash is a style, but it would also be cool to see black and white, or less saturated color. Just a thought.Really good overall!

That so turns me on. kiddingbut WOW I can't imagine using that much. I only have music files, basically... so, it's really not that much space. I could use a nice 100 GB drive, though.

Haha, many times I have agonized over the most efficient routine for web perusal. Sometimes I have only five minutes to check my stuff before I must get off the computer.I think it's something like this.-Check Myspace account for band and myself-Log in to forums, make posts-Check Gmail account for important mailThat's the majority of what I do when I'm crunched for time. If I have a little while, I'll browse Myspace for new bands, make extended posts on this forum, update my band's profile on other sites, and find resources for audio editing and Photoshop.

I think what I use is PDF Creator, or something like that.OpenOffice is also very efficient at converting MS Office (and OpenOffice) files into PDF format. As for denaturing PDF, I don't know how to do that...

The Zune Microsofts iPod Killer
austiniskoge replied to doudou's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I don't approve of the "one-size-fits-all" theory.I don't want 30GB! I would rather have something in the range of 4-6GB, with a lower price and possibly a smaller size. Apple's iPod offers this for me, but MS just doesn't seem to get that much of the success of the iPod is their different sizes, types, and prices. This is the major reason I will not consider buying this mp3 player. Also because I love to hate Microsoft -
Photoshop CS2 Opinions? Is it worth the upgrade?
austiniskoge replied to chiiyo's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I have CS2, which happens to be my first version of Photoshop....So, unfortunately, I can't tell you the improvements over CS. I can tell you that I'm very pleased with it, and I've never used such a powerful program with such a small learning curve. I have very few problems with it, other than the learning curve.I wish it had a "beginner's video tutorial" that showed you some basics. The written tutorials included with it are brief and confusing to a newcomer, and looking on the internet is time consuming.Other than this, I find it worthy of a good review. -
Another reason to modify the EQ while playing music anywhere is the speakers themselves. Not only can an mp3 player/stereo have problems reproducing the intended frequencies in a song, but the speakers can misrepresent them as well. You can have speakers that just have a hard time giving enough bass or treble, in which case you would want to change your EQ settings in your volume-control program on your system/whatever else.I have often had to fix this problem with poor quality speakers. I have yet to find a cheap pair of good speakers. If you get "monitors" however, you will often get crystal-clear and otherwise good sound.

Ahh! Big Mistake! How Do I Get This Program Back?
austiniskoge replied to austiniskoge's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Okay, guys. First off, I want to thank all of you for the feedback. I've never gotten so many replies, and so quickly! Let me outline my position again: -I'm working on a barebones machine (custom built by Dad with random crap...) -Windows XP -I went into a special window that allowed me to DELETE Windows processes -I checked a couple of boxes and clicked "Delete" -Rebooted and the sound mixer program was gone. Now, I think I might be able to get it off the Windows install CD. I've heard of restoring programs (like Photo Editor) that way. However, the amount of time it would take to poke into that is immense. The best response I got was from nightfox, and I'm about to go try it. If you guys have links to replacement programs (freeware only, please) or detailed instructions, those are much appreciated. Sympathy and mockery are acceptable, however not very useful thanks guys.
