  1. i would venture to say that the majority of people who use P2P networks use them for illegal purposes, mostly downloading copyrighted songs.limewire is the perfect example of this.so, yes- in theory, P2P is a harmless, completely legal system that is not intrinsically wrong.but for the most part, it's used for illegal things.probably the best places to find free MP3 downloads are the artist pages on Myspace and Purevolume.unfortunately, not all artists offer free downloads on their pages, and you're limited by what they choose to let you download.
  2. there really isn't a solution to this problem, unless you know that fancy way to access your computer from school.otherwise, you can just keep using new proxy sites until they're blocked.that's what we do in my school district.all you hear all day long is "hey man, you know a proxy site?"but they're pretty fast when it comes to finding new ones and blocking them.it's pretty sad how long this discussion is.it shows how many kids are on this forum
  3. if you're looking to normalize sound within the file, you can always open individual mp3 files in an audio editor such as Audacity (free, as you probably know) and compress the entire file using variable settings. it will also apply gain after compression so that the volume of the entire file is still relatively the same.this would be useful if you had a quiet part or a loud part in a certain section of the song.if you want to normalize several files at once, you can open several mp3 files at once in Audacity and apply the same compression to all of them.then you'd have to export each section (one section being a song, or whatever it was before) separately as its own file.that's a bit complicated, not to mention ineffective if you're not familiar with Audacity.however, if you're unable to find a program that does the job for you, it's a viable option.
  4. okay, to clarify:i no longer have a link to photo editor. i used to... about a year or so ago.so PLEASE no more PMs about it.just use something else. sorry.
  5. Spammer! But yeah, this technology sounds cool. Hey Aka_bar, use quotes next time.
  6. My review of this game is: ehhh.I actually play guitar, and this game is frustrating because it's not really like playing guitar. I know, it's just a game... but I wish it were more like actual guitar. Is is addicting? A bit. But I got bored of it after 30 minutes at Wal-Mart. Not worth my money.I see the appeal, but I'm not buying in.
  7. Yes. You can host any content for download if you have the entire copyright to it. But, like ashiezai said, be careful about your bandwidth. Downloads of large files take up lots of bandwidth. Make sure you have the second hosting package before you host anything for download. Even though it is in accordance with Xisto rules, OpaQue still looks down on people who offer downloads on their sites. It takes up plenty of bandwidth, which really belongs to Xisto. So, keep it reasonable.
  8. I don't know about improving your actual technique...But it sure taught me a lot about different types of cars and racing! I have GT3 and GT4 to thank for that.
  9. Nope, never used it. But it sounds interesting.Something else that is interesting is the rate at which Google churns out these beta versions of programs. I read an article in which a high-level Google exec said that Google would soon start to focus less on new innovations and beta products, and instead refine their search services. They know that creating all this new stuff is a little intimidating to new users.
  10. No offense, dude, but the FAQs and other introductory pages were made for people in your situation. Go have a thorough look. Then you can balk for help if you still need it. Which you probably won't. At least there are always good-natured people unlike myself who will type up a response for you. Of course, they're getting credits out of it, so what do they care?
  11. I love my PS2.:PSeriously. I still don't get that feeling that my PS2 is outdated. I haven't heard much of the PS3 besides "oh wow, it's great". No comparisons to the PS2, no comparisons to anything, really.I'm waiting. Just like thousands of other passive gamers. We're the market that videogame companies really wants to tap into, but that giant price tag just scares me. I'm waiting, no doubt.
  12. Alright, man. Ease up. Some of us just have the files up there for the fans, you know? I appreciate the service a lot. I've never heard of any resentment before...
  13. Thanks for hangin' out, houdini. You've been around the block, man. Two years?!? More like a year and a half dude :)Still doesn't beat me- I've got a couple months on you.I've seen you a lot, too. We'll miss you.
  14. I'm not sure. I didn't read much of the article actually. It's just that the title of the thread had me on the floor in glorious laughter.Thank you.
  15. Well, yeah. Me and this other guy were in an AIM war over this girl.He could type faster, so he dominated in the AIM part. I'm a beast, so I dominated in the girl part.Seriously.
  16. Definitely review the code before adding it to your website/myspace. Those usually put a banner or pop-up on your site to generate revenue. Or else it wouldn't be free! Most of the time it's just deletable code, so keep an eye out.
  17. I'm not saying it's better. I definitely agree. Smashing Pumpkins was much better. But his solo work is alos really good. Btw, that's the second time I've quoted you in ten minutes. lol
  18. I don't really have any advice if Movie Maker's not cutting it, but I'm still interested in seeing the video! Keep us posted.
  19. I love seeing that. but really, there's lots of ways to put a music player on your site. one example (a bad one, but it's really easy): make a frame on your webpage that's about 200x200px, and make it a link to an mp3. When they click it, that little box will turn into a music player and won't take up any space. but frames are messy and annoying sometimes... so choose wisely. People don't often revisit your page thinking "maybe it's gotten better".
  20. You're going to need:-Video and audio out from TV (or straight from console if you like)-A cable/other device to carry signal into:-Video and audio in to computer-software that records video and audio inputNot sure where to get all of this, just know that in theory this is how it would work.
  21. You're not alone. Just what exactly is a bboy?
  22. Funny. The level of political incorrectness in these two words is overwhelming. Maybe that's why it's funny.
  23. Okay, obviously guys. It comes from the word "character", in which the first syllable is pronounced "care". So, you pronounce the abbreviation "char" as "care" also.Come on, now.
  24. not sure. might want to ask someone who wouldn't mind making you a song or two.however, beware- background music can kill your hit count.put a player on the page. please!
