  1. I suppose someone should have brought this up earlier Zony, but please make longer posts, yours barely pass the spam marker.Site is cool though
  2. In reply to the banner, you can make your own, put up a text link, or get a banner at http://forums.xisto.com/topic/125-user-contributions/ Now, on to what GuardianGA is telling us. Has it maybe EVER occured to you that we do this on a voluntary bases, and that we actually have families, jobs, school etc? We are not here 24/7, we are here when we can, as much as we can. Oh and, now I am wondering why did you pull ME into your email? I didn't ban you, you took care of that yourself.
  3. Yes, I know what's wrong. You are supposed to make a permanent password. For a password reset, you need to apply for it. Although it is not necessarily applying, you just have to request it. Its thread is located near the one where you applied for hosting.
  4. I currently have an AMD Athlon 64 3400+. While my computer does heat up more than my old one (which was an IBM Thinkpad 390E Laptop PII 333MHz etc so it's kinda normal LOL), my CPU stays fairly stable qua temperature at 50°C. The highest it has ever gotten was 57°C, but I blame that on a higher room temperature of 39°C. As far as AMD requiring a reboot more than Intel CPU's, I think that's just plain not true. I achieve uptimes of a week or more. I am forced to reboot due to windows getting all funky. In Linux I have gone over 3 months, this was on an AMD Duron 950MHz CPU.I have used both Intel CPU's and AMD. Personally I prefer AMD over anything, even if it's just for simple applications. I do use Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and Flash (something PS and DW with ImageReady together without any issues). Personally I would jump to AMD and skip the intel CPU's all together.
  5. From what I gather, the issue seems to be the use of frames. If you don't use frames, it will work out fine. I can't really explain why though, I just know it's because of the frames.
  6. I think most of you that know me, will now feel the urge to shoot me. I prefer Skype. I have always liked voice chat, even though it's a killer for my allotted transfer amount a month. The voice is far more clearly than on MSN, and actually uses less resources. The only thing I can't do, is host a 3 or 4 way conversation. That just kills my personal BW, but if someone else hosts it, then yep it works fine I have tried GoogleTalk once, but I am not too sure if I like it. But then again, I haven't added people to it ;)I dislike AIM the most of all IM services. It's a very unforgiving service, with the flood protection, which can get so annoying.Yahoo, I only use to talk to a few people I know. Mostly a close friend who uses it while she's at work. Other then that, I don't start it up much. MSN, however; is almost always connected. I don't care for MSN much with the ads, all the "buy our smilies" etc, but everyone else uses it. So to an extend that forces me into using it as well.
  7. I actually had the same issue when I first started here Jeffsta. So it's not a big deal, it just means that your ISP's DNS servers pretty much are slow or poorly configured (I had to manually insert the IP and name in my hosts file - my isp didn't bother with c-class configurations and it took me 3 months before I was able to reach my own site by address and not IP)By what you're explaining, you have the same issue as I had. Can I ask who your ISP is? And I do suggest you call them about this. Don't let them ship you off though, it is THEIR DNS servers the mess up. PS. I actually ended up changing ISP
  8. This question is answered numerous of times.TOPIC Closed
  9. You wanna know something.... http://forums.xisto.com/topic/85528-topic/?findpost= You should really check the post you've made there.
  10. Just a quick hint here, Some of the admins and mods here are also mods on Xisto. It's the same company, guys, so that should give you a clou. THe reason we seem to be ferocious, is simple. Because if we have to "quote" the rules for every single action we take, we have to give up jobs, school etc and sit here all day for free doing things that most don't. If you read the rules, and follow 'em, you're ok. If you don't then YOU should read the rules again. That's how simple it is. Actually, we don't mind criticism, or opinions, we mind the way most offer it. For some odd reason, on trap users seem even more inclined to just insult us and use a load of foul language towards admins or mods (and I do mean foul foul language - I've been told to drop dead, go F--- myself and way more that's even more offensive). THose are the users that get banned and will not even get a slim chance to listen to a possible explanation. Of course this is not seen by the public, because it's done in a pm, and then those same users, post in the forum how unjust they have been threated. And it's those posts that we do instantly delete.
  11. It depends on your post count indeed, when you have 200 posts you have the custom title activated, I don't know why it's at 200, I didn't set it up. But I too had to wait for it. LOL. I hope that somewhat answers it, and I apologize if I do not sound that nice LOL It's not my intention, I just got up and an still pretty much asleep.
  12. Hello,I play a game called USI, which is a Play By Email. So evidently we also work together on an email, which we call a Joint Post (JP). Sometimes 3 people work on one post, which can be quite the hassle in MSN. Because you're limited to the amount of characters etc. Now some there (myself included) liked the idea of finding a webbased solution where you could log in (not necesarily) and work on one file with several people. Meaning that the change is seen immediately. Or after hitting send. So I am looking for something that allows several people to work on the same file, from a fully web based environment. Already suggested was the use of SSH and a unix server (vi), but because this is hard for the non-techie people (and just overcomplicates the sending through msn since you still have to let them know you're done editing) that was ruled out. Does anyone know of such a system, it HAS to be for windows for sure. Since 90% there are win users.
  13. Having an account will help you there, you can't access anything without having a hosting account.
  14. I like it, and would love to know how you go about doing this. Do you create pictures for each layer in Flash??
  15. Can I pose a dumb statement here?I am going to anyways. But don't just jump to "it's cancer". Yes, it can, BUT it can also be a plain old infection (bacterial or viral). Just go to the doctor, no one here is equipped to give medical advice, and even if someone were to jump and say they're a doctor, it needs to be checked by physically being in the same room as a doctor to get a proper diagnosis.
  16. 2. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ The popup text for the menu has been copied from some site on the web... I don't recall. But it was titled 'Pure CSS menus' or something. Uhm.. THat's Eric Meyers design, I suggest you give him credits if you use that Pure menu LOL He's THE guru for CSS... Most who like CSS know that guy.
  17. Topic closed, there are about 5 more topics about this very item. Just search the forums for "html editor"
  18. I am closing this thread, this issue has been taken care of. The loss of credits was due to reduction of credits because Mr. Lay had copied an entire tutorial from the net and posted it as his. The script used to reduce credits will ALWAYS subtract more credits than the amount you've earned (see it as a built in "punishment")
  19. Well, the reason I closed your previous topic was to prevent a flame war by Dark Aphalite. I have checked into all moderation and admin action on your account, and can't find any that indicate posts have been deleted or credits have been adjusted. I do know the server was changed, so that's the downtime for the record. Your credits, I don't know how that happened, the amount you've lost, (31-13) 18, is not enough for an upgrade or for any other change in your hosting, so that's not the cause.I can't check the credits script, since I am only a forum admin and don't have that amount of access, only OpaQue can I believe (possibly Nils or microscopic^earthling may be able to as well). I can only report this and hope OpaQue finds the issue, I am sorry I can't do more.
  20. The undefined system you speak of, Rodney, are human beings, sitting here daily, reading posts, correcting errors, trying to solve problems, weed out the spam (aka useless posts, double posts, copied posts).... What you fail to see, is that this company, solely relies on voluntary helpers, moderators and admins. THe ads on the site don't even cover the cost of maintaining a server to host sites on.TOPIC CLOSED
  21. Well a good way to lower your warning would be to no longer use words like crap, and make posts that have contents, unlike this one, it's just a bunch of shouting and linebreaks.EDIT : Member has been banned
  22. I decided to post this in the Windows section since the error itself is purely windows, it's not the tugzip program, but it IS caused by it. TugZip is the program I use to zip and unzip, but here's my issue. When you select a file in Windows (don't matter where) and rightclick it, you get that lil context menu, where in my case I can select Zip to and a list of suggested compression methods (rar, zip, 7z etc) When I then click on one of those, or basically try to zip a file by using the context menu, my explorer crashes. The error I get which is followed by the error saying Dr Watson 32 has crashed as well. Obviously my line of actions is to hit Ctrl+Alt+Del since that brings up my taskmanager. So I end the explorer.exe procress, which doesn't stop unless I kill the drwatson32.exe first. Then I restart the explorer.exe. I've tried uninstalling tugzip and reinstalling, but that gives me the exact same issue. My guess is that it is Windows and not Tugzip. If I run Tugzip as program and use the program to select files to compress, it does work fine. So yeah it's windows. Any suggestions or ideas? Other then not using Tugzip (ps for the time being I am using 7zip - the reason to use those is because they allow more compression format than winrar or winzip)
  23. Nils,Hi :DI don't recommend Debian to you, unless you have *nix experience, but I am sure you would have told me before that. Personally, go with Fedora, and do a server install, that should give you all you need, or use a graphical environment (Fedora too) and install the server packages. It's not that hard. :PNow if you wanna stick to windows, make it easy on yourself and use xampp. It's a one package install containing Apache 2, PHP (don't ask me which version - I think 4) and MySQL and Mercury FTP server (which you can disable) and a mail server. When I see you on MSN, I'll explain some more But Debian is an install I haven't even tried, and quite frankly I don't think I would manage. I've always stayed with graphical stuff. Though I can easily maintain a nix box in command line.
  24. When you go to your cPanel - Hotlinking, you can leave it on, but in the big text box you enter eg. yourdomain/*And that should work, I think (I don't remember exactly - and right now am too tired to even go check)
  25. I'll reply to this one fast. You haven't been warned forever, it's been uhm let's see.. 5 days. Ok, first of all, your posts, which were deleted by ME, didn't even meet the basic requirements for a decent post, just short and repeating "Lame; I hate this, it's worthless". You didn't even post WHY you disliked them. And as for your right to free speech, you still have that, we merely make rules on how long the free speech can be. And what you don't know, in fact only mods and admins know, is that soon the forum outline will change, I removed the subforums without posts or moved the posts to a different category. But I have to hand it to you, 2 pm's to me to tell me how "lame" the warnings are and then a post here. I can forward this to Nils or you can... your choice, but for me this is the end of the discussion.
