  1. Oh good god, I can see I am anal about this stuff compared to you guys, though M^e comes close. Weekly I clean my mouse, clean the buttons, the mousepad (my optical one won't work on my desk and my laser one is broken *cries*). Every single week I remove all the keys from my keyboard and clean them individually. I also open my case and clean my fan and heatsink. Usually I also try to remove as much dust as I can without actually breaking the cards The only thing I don't clean is my powersupply and oh, the rest of my room, I clean my room once every other week. THough I do vaccuum daily.
  2. THis might be a dumb idea here, but have you checked your image loading settings in FF to load images from other sites (eg. You visitid Google.com and the image is hosted on googles.com then it won't load because it's not the original websites' URL)Sorry for the messed up structure of this answer but I have a migraine.
  3. Well, I used to chat with a blind gal from Rejkjavik (I miss spelled that so bad it's not even funny) and she used voice chat, and typed pretty good. The image you see is simple a screen reader, it outputs what is typed onto the little plates which change and form braille writing. This allows a blind person to read what is on the screen. As MC mentioned some use actual screen readers and listen to what is typed, though I did try that technology to hear how it worked, but it's terrible. At least I found it to be, but then again; I am deaf in one ear, which could be part of the why it was a terrible experience for me. I know Ranveigh (the girl's name) typed on a normal keyboard, and checked her typing with her braille output screen reader.
  4. I have to concur with Twitch. I mean, we (the moderating team) are working to keep this forum spam free, with decent content posts. ANd then you keep on posting a few words and more images in count than word count. Mike, on trap this is fine, you got gfxtrap. But please, not on Xisto.
  5. I am from Belgium, and I did give it a try.... LOL. I've done so in the past. I mean, once we tried this thing in class to apply for promotional packages everywhere. I got all kinds of stuff, going from free diapers to t=shirts, caps etc. (random companies were emailed.) I did the same to microsoft (just like everyone else in my class); I got 30 pens, keyhangers and loads of them. 3 t-shirts, 3 caps and 2 mouse mats and uhm wrist thingies (still don't know what exactly they were). A friend in my group got one mouse mat more, and I reapplied.. I got even more! (mind you I said I never received the first package.)
  6. In the light of twitch' post, I would like to add the following :I am a lady, one of a kind and not always kind But I prefer a good dark gruesome siggie, blood - tears - pain, nice. And I hate pink
  7. You may have felt you were perfecting your sparkle brushing, but honestly, Mike, you can't read the text, the third one is so bright it is painful to my eyes. They are too bright, it's painful. In the first sig, you covered your renders with the pattern, which isn't that great - you could have changed the opacity there as well. Why not try and make a sig without using renders? But making the "renders" yourself as well - it's harder than it looks :oPS. Please for the sake of posting, include some more text, you are only posting images. And make your sig a bit shorter...
  8. To answer a few questions, I have 1024MB RAM, so I am fairly safe. The reason for wanting both OS'es on SATA is simple. I want performance, though I am starting to think that I'll be better off installing Win on the IDE so I can use a different PHYSICAL partition (on the SATA) as scratch disk for photoshop etc. It would boost it's performance. As far as the ghost image, I can't do that. Well I can, but I don't want to. I need a clean win install LOL.
  9. Once I get my new drive, I will try - just tell me Gentoo doesn't make issues out of installing on SATA drives
  10. I can not stress this enough! Asking for an illegal method to play a game, which requires a monthly fee .. is NOT allowed here. Try again, and I will ban those asking.!
  11. Well, I couldn't think of any other suitable location to post this (Yes, even admins are at times stumped about the perfect place to post something in). Here's the issue.2 Hard Disks - one 120GB IDE as Data storage, currently housing Win XP Pro on a partition, all my data on a partition and a scratch parition for photoshop. The other HD, is a SATA - soon to come - 250GB - so it's empty space LOL.Goal : Have the OSes (Win XP Pro and Gentoo) on the SATA, have multimedia files on the SATA on their own partition and the rest of DATA on the IDE. (And a seperate partition to install programs on for Win on the SATA)Issues I foresee in this set-up, and questions I have :- Does this work? Because I need to change the boot flag on the disks, I can't disconnect the IDE because then win will start to annoy me with messages. - Will it be a good performance as oposed to OS on IDE and data on SATA?- I've also considered installing Linux on the IDE and Win on the SATA - but then I'd have to boot from two drives... As you can tell, despite my experience with dual boots (I am not that good in making manual changes to my bootloader's config file.) I am somewhat weary about 2 disks, never had that luxury before.
  12. Well, I always found Linux "nice". I had very little computer experience, and ended up running Linux for 3 or 4 years solely. Never had issues. I didn't even know what the heck partitions were when I installed Red Hat 7.1 LOL. So yeah, you do learn a lot by using Linux. Of course after being spoiled with so many configuration options in Linux and then installing windows - it's a bit a serious let-down. LOL.
  13. Since Jeigh went through it.... I am considering Gentoo as well, I always used Red Hat, then Fedora and Ubuntu. While I am ok in all three aforementioned, even in command line, I am terrified of the Gentoo install. It's been ages since I worked command line solely, so I forgot a LOT of important things, though there are some I still remember rm -rf */* for example (it's fun to advise someone to use that command if they persist in asking you really dumb questions for the 10th time in a row eg. HOw do I enable my network thingie? - that's a quote btw)Anyhow, this will be my set-up (I need a new HD, since my 120GB one is full to the max LOL). I intend to get a SATA drive, 250 or 300GB, whichever my money allows me to. I currently am bound to Windows still - because of school and games and Photoshop - and of course Flash. Other then that, *cringes* M$ Office (powerpoint for school, seems that OpenOffice presentations look messed up in M$ PowerPoint.)So basically, I will be dual booting (perhaps triple booting to give Vista a test drive - a friend of mine works for M$ Benelux and is willing to "lend" me his copy for my opinion because he feels it would pull me away from Linux LOL) between Gentoo and Win XP Pro. It will be done from a SATA drive, and an IDE as data storage. I have no issues writing grub onto my MBR (easy enough to fix it if it does go wrong)My main worry is not the partitioning, I tend to do that on beforehand. But the compilation of a kernel. I have never done that - to my knowledge So knowing my short history, is it doable? I've also considered Debian at one point because I like the debian background in Ubuntu.
  14. You're not permitted to have an account on both trap and Xisto, which is stated somewhere in the TOS. This is simply due to the service being free and aiming to reach all that qualify for the free hosting. If you would get two hosting accounts, it would create a precedent for everyone else, and thus forcing us to accept their "requests" as well. So we stick to that rule for everyone, because altering it would mean the death of Xisto and Xisto. As far as the domain leading to a subdomain, I am not sure it is it possible. I suppose it would be a redirect then. I've tried it with a few things, and they'd always end up as redirects but not a full domain. Other than that, I can't tell you much more. Sorry.
  15. I don't think it looks plain at all. In fact, most siggies are just downloaded brushes applied. It's rather refreshing to see a sig with PS's standard brushes! And it's adorably cute, santa Yep, I like it Good job.
  16. On popular request, I've decided to submit a tutorial on how to make those wonderful glossy glass orbs, which is a similar effect as in the MSN lil dude . I will do my best to use screen shots of important steps, but overal this does depend on the feeling and how strong you want the effect to be. Step 1 : Open Photoshop. Open a new document, I used 500px wide and 500 high, with a white background. You can make the background any color, but I do recommend using a background color, otherwise it will become harder to see the effect, also depending on your background color you will need to adjust the strength of the effects later on. Make it a habit that you create a new layer for ALL actions, that way you can easily go back without losing too much data. Step 2 : Making the orb. Set your foreground color to #33cc33 (It's a not so bright, yet clear green). Then select your ellipse tool and while you're at it, make a new layer. https://g' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' /> Be sure to have Paths selected on top (the tool property bar) and then when you choice the drop down box in that same bar, you make sure to have circle selected (this will make sure your ellipse is a circle, another way of achieving the same goal is to hold down shift while you drag your mouse to make the ellipse.) https://g' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' /> Now you can draw your circle, bear in mind you won't see a filling yet. But the reason I use a path for this, is because it looks better than marquee (no jagged edges), and you can go back to reselect the path later on for a second orb etc. You should now see a thin circle on your canvas, while you still have your ellipse tool selected, you can right click and choice FILL PATH. https://g' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' /> Then you will get a pop-up window, called Fill Path, make sure you have everything set as in the screenshot, which are the default values. https://g' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' /> NOTE : In the pop up window you get after clicking FILL PATH, you can use the drop down box to fill with any color you wish, the reason I opted to use the foreground color is because for the sake of this tutorial it's slightly easier. Right now your canvas should be showing a wonderfully perfect circle filled with the color you selected. Step 3 : The Highlight. Now we will add the highlight, set your foreground color to white and make a new layer. You should still have your path active, if this is not the case, go to your layer palette, next to the Layer tab, you should have two more tabs; one called Channels and one called Paths. Go to the Paths tab and click the Work Path (you will see a small preview of the path, just like the Layer Pallete). NOTE : If you do not have the Paths tab, then go to Window > Paths. Select your Path Select Tool, you'll find it right above the Pen Tool and on the left of the Type Text tool. (You can also hit A on your keyboard) Right click on the Circle Path, you will get the same drop down menu as before. This time I want you to select the Make Selection option. Here's where it gets a big more personal, if you practice this a bit, you'll learn to get the best results to meet your liking. Select the Gradient Fill tool (hidden under the Paint Bucket for those of you who haven't toyed in PS that much). https://g' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' /> As you can see in the screenshot, you need to select the Foreground to transparent (which is why you had to set white as foreground color), if you don't have the standard set of gradients open, click on the lil right arrow (on the graphic indicated with the *) and click Reset Gradients. Hold down shift (this is to make sure the gradient is in a perfect straight line) while you drag the gradient from the top of the selection to about 75% down. Your image should now look like the one below. (Quality is set to low, so it would load faster.) Step 4 : Distortion. We will now distort the gradient we just applied to make it look more realistic. First of all, make sure you do NOT have the path selected as well, whether you keep the selection live or not, is up to you. To deselect the path, you go back to the Paths Tab, and click on the Icon to make a new Path (same look and location as the new layer button). Go up to Edit > Transform > Distort. There you will be changing the look of the gradient to meet what I have in my lil screenshot, again the quality of the image is toned down. https://g' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' /> Now, you duplicate the highlight layer, you drag the layer to the New Layer Icon OR right click on the layer and click Duplicate Layer. Set the lower layer (the original highlight layer to 70% opacity - you can change this afterwards if you feel it is too bright.) Cut into two parts due to the image restrictions. Step 5 : Adding a hue change. Good job on getting so far and still wanting to continue Now you'll change the hue of the top highlight layer so it's realistic. First, make sure that the top layer (the duplicated highlight layer which should have 100% opacity still) is selected, then go up to Edit > Transform > Flip Vertical. Now you'll have to move that layer so it almost touches the bottom of the orb. Then you hit Ctrl+U, this brings up the Hue and Saturation box. Here's a screenshot of the values I entered. It is very important to check COLORIZE. https://g' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' /> Now a quick check of what you should have now. https://g' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' /> https://g' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' /> Stap 6 : Making it real, because honestly it don't look good huh? To be honest, it's a boring looking orb now, and it looks far from real. But no worries, you'll get there. First of all, Ctrl + click on the green base orb, so you select the orb in full. Make sure your hue change layer is selected and apply a gaussian blur (Filters > Blur > Gaussian Blur) of about 20, depending on how big you made the orb this will vary. The smaller the orb, the smaller the blur. This is something you'll have to test to see. Your orb should look something like this now. https://g' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' /> The very last thing you should do is apply some layer effects to the orb itself. Select your base orb, and or right click and select Blending Options or click the lil F at the bottom of the Layer Palette. Then apply an Inner Glow with the following settings, the size does vary depending on the size of the orb - experience and practice will help you there. The color is #217d1e. https://g' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' /> Final image : https://g' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' />
  17. I can only agree with twitch... I wonder if I'll be the only chick voting in this poll though. LOL
  18. Well, usually errors to certain posts in the Last Posts and Last Topics (the bottom of the forum) indicate moderators or admins moved the thread, set it to invisible or deleted it. I don't know why it doesn't remove the posts then from those add-ons, but I can't fix it (I am not that good in php, whereas OpaQue is). Also, there is a "secret" forum, only accesible for moderators and admins, topics posted there also get listed in that Last Topics/Last Posts thing, but no one but mods and admins can see them, can access that forum. That usually is the reason for the error you receive. Spam posts are usually moved to a "trash can" located in the Staff forum, where admins can adjust credits - these posts also still show up in that Last posts/last topics.
  19. I have a tattoo on my left breast. It's a non-color one of a lizard. The tail goes all the way (oh yeah - and it's not that long LOL the "all the way") to my breast bone. I intend to get a few more.
  20. When m^e told me, I could hardly believe what he typed to me. Can't even begin to say how sorry I am that you have to go through this. I truly hope, from the deepest of my heart, you and your family get through this - these very very hard times. I can't do more than offer you and your family my deepest and most heartfelt sympathies. I don't know what to say.Mik, we're all here for you - if you need to have a talk or even a punching bag.
  21. I actually played it for a while, but I keep on forgetting what level I am on - aka bookmarking the level page I am on - so I end up restarting it all the time, so it gets boring LOL. Also I believe that if you reach minus levels, it means you cheated - or I am confusing this with another riddle game.
  22. The emails get sent instantly. However it is possible that you have made a typo in your email address. Then it gets sent to the wrong address. Anyhow, it's just going to https://support.xisto.com/ The first option is the one you need. It's all explained in the form you will be presented with after clicking on that option. Also, take a look at the other links, some will be usefull to you in case you need to change your domain etc.
  23. Please use the serach feature, this is the fifth topic with the EXACT same question. Topic Closed
  24. Since everyone is just repeated the previous answer in a different matter, I am closing this topic.
  25. Photoshop has my vote. I used to use Paint Shop Pro, but I was annoyed at the poor results it created (especially with transparency). Also PSP wasn't a "professional" tool - to quote a friend of mine who is a graphics artist (it's his job - he studied for it).So it took him quite some time to presuade me to change programs, and I opened Photoshop 7 - stunned by its speed on a PII 333MHz, where PSP9 took 10 minutes to kick off. Then of course came the dreadful task of learning where everything was, how things were done. About a week later, I banned PSP from my computer and haven't looked back. However for the occasional graphic designer - just hobbyists - PSP suffices. But if you're serious about it and want state-of-the-art, then Photoshop is the way to go. I found it to be more intuitive than PSP, faster and better results all in all. I don't feel you can make a correct comparison, since PSP is just not even coming close to touching the tail end of PS.
