  1. KuBi is your css on-line as im not getting any nice styles or is it ment to be like that. I think your logos fine personally. Do you need any help on your forums as im an expert on IPB?
  2. i dont think Blue Ray will catch on as for one its very expensive for a disc and also cd's and dvd's will all become obsolete as of digital storage such as portable USB's and portable Hard drives. Also all dvd's are capable of playing HD pictures as HD is just a screen resolution and a certain colour bit. I dont need a disc that can hold like 50GB of data ive got hotswap Hard Discs each containing 500GB of storage. So all i need to do is just pull the hdd out of its slot if i need to transport a lot of data otherwise ill just use a USB.
  3. hmm i would say that if your in the uk you could make an access attempt to the IP under the Freedom of Information Act and the Data protection Act but i know you live in the US and im not sure if there is an equivlent. Im sure that the admins on Xisto and across the Xisto will now compare IP's if your account name is registered on any other forum. There is not much you can do really. This has happened to me before but i used the FDM and DPA to gain access to the IP of the person who was impersonating me. You could always request a display name change to eliminate the problem.
  4. Not many webhosts use PHP 5.1 yet because there are security holes and bugs in it. Also not a lot of scripts out on the internet support php 5 yet. Im sure this will change and when it does the admins will update the server software to PHP 5
  5. Try PHPInfo it may answer your question.. although i dont recall any thing on php info telling you what fonts you have on your server. Also you probably knew this already, but to have an image verification box the server requires GD installed on it.
  6. so the answer to your question (summing up what everyone else has said) is..yes you can hosting a music site as long as if you are hosting music you have express permission from the record company or author.
  7. well as long as your not hosting illegal MP3's everything should work fine. What file types will you be using?
  8. Google would not be allowed to spy on people its against many US and UK rules. They would be breaching Privacy and do you have any proof that google are spying on us?
  9. domains may say they are free but their is always a hidden catch, trust me - ive trid to do the same thing - offer free domains to my clients, i can offer them free domains but it would mean that id have to raise the price of hosting to cover the cost of a domain. A cost will always come into a domain whether it be the registrant having to pay ICANN $8 to use a domain or a person having to pay a renewal fee. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A COST INVOLVED.$12 for a domain name MusicOnly, that's a rip off you can register them for as little at 2 to 3 dollars.
  10. well you have defiantly got my vote i love your images, from what Avalon has said you've not been a member for long so if you make a few more posts stay active hopefully you will be approved.
  11. Ok I decided to do this tutorial as I see many people asking how to set up a server for gaming, Runscape clans, hosting ECT. Seeing as im a webhost I set up my servers in a more complex way like setting load balancing cPanel Apache ect. In this tutorial I will explain in simple language on how to go about setting up a server to do different purposes. If you still don?t understand what to do, Post your question below and I will try and answer it as best as I can. Part 1 ? Hardware For a server you need a certain amount of RAM, Drive space ect to make everything run smoothly, Below is a list of what I recommend you use when building your box. 256 MB RAM 10GB HDD DVD Drive AMD Athlon or Intel P4 Good Motherboard which supports hi speed LAN Server OS (Linux - CentOS, FreeBSD, Fedora) Hi speed LAN card These are the minimum requirements i recommend to make everything run well and still leave spare to run more apps. Part 2 - Inserting hardware into the right places All you have to do for this bit is read the manual that came with your motherboard it will tell how how to connect your hardware if not its very easy just match up slots, bays, plugs to the hardware you've got. Chances re you will get it right. Part 3 - Booting up and installing Operating System Ok so now you've got your hardware installed and put it all in a case, its time now to install the operating system. I will again make a list of steps showing you what to do. Turn the Server on by pressing the power button. put the OS installation disc into the CD/DVD Drive go into the BIOS and under Advanced settings read the page until you see settings about boot devices. You need to set them as follows: 1. CD/DVD 2. IDE - then go back to the main BIOS page press F10 which saves your changes and reboots the computer. If you set the boot devices correctly your system should boot into the installation disc follow the on-screen instructions and you should be fine. REMEMBER: read all instructions carefully as otherwise you may mess something up. Once the installer has completed your Server will reboot, you must remember to take out the installation disc as otherwise the server will boot into the installation disc again. You should now boot into the server OS's GUI have a look around and get to grips with everything before we continue Congratulations - you are half way there. Now we have to setup software such as Apache, Control panels ect. Part 4 - Installing hardware such as LAN ect. This part is pretty simple. The server should recognise hardware that is plugged into it and install the drivers for it. If not you can either download the drivers from the manufacturer's website or use the installation CD that came with the hardware. All you need to do is follow the on-screen instructions and you will be fine. Part 5 - Connecting to the internet and downloading software Now that you have the LAN cards installed you now need to connect to your network, the server will do this automatically so you don't need to do anything but wait. I recommend using firefox as a web browser as its simple to use and setup. Go into tools>Options>connection settings and if your network uses a proxy enter the information into the boxes or if you just directly connect to your network and internet pick the "Direct connection to the internet". Now if you plan for other people to connect to your server it would we wise to download Apache from http://www.apache.org/ - REMEMBER: when downloading Apache make sure you get the distro for your system. If you also know of the gaming software or clan software you need now would be a good time to download it. Part 6 - Installing Apache and your own software To install Apache unzip the archive and read the documentation on how to install and set it up. The install instructions can be found here http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/install.html it is a good idea to keep this open whilst installing Apache as you may need to consult it. Once Apache is set up (NOTE: if it didn't take you very long you probably did something wrong in which case you need to install it again) you may now go about installing your own software to use on the server such as PHP, MySQL ect. Part 7 - Testing the server and finalising everything Now that everything is set up and running now is a good time to test that everything is running, you may want to connect to the server VIA another computer to verify that Apache and your gameserver, control panel, clan software ect is all working. Then you are finished everything should now be running. Part 8 - Finished Congratulations you are now finished and everything is working, You may use your server for whatever you chose to use it for, remember to keep everything updated to stop the server from getting attacked. This is how hard it can be setting up a server. It takes weeks or even months to get things working. IF you are serious about wanting to set up like a gaming server or a clan server you may as well just order a dedicated server as everything will be already set up, all you need to do is worry about managing things and getting traffic to the site. It is so much easier - i don't think many of you know how long it takes to set up a server. But if your committed and understand things and have the patience then this tutorial should help you. I hope this helped - this was my first tutorial written so forgive me if it does not make sence but i tried to make it as simple as possible. Good luck with your server ------------------------------------------- Tutorial Finished Notice from BuffaloHELP: Xisto already has plethora of topics that deals with the same subject. Please search next time.
  12. I use RedHat Enterprise Linux, CentOS 4.x, FreeBSD and Xandros Linux most of them i use on my servers but some like Xandros i use on my pc, delivi you don't want to near unix ism so simple and bad.

  14. PHP stands for Personal Home Page Hypertext Preprocessor hence the name PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor, its a server side scripting language that's embedded into html documents, it enables you to create dynamic web applications that can do literally anything. PHP has similar commands to the C programming language. PHP works great with many databases such as MySQL, best bit is its free. its a great programming language to learn that's easy. if you want to learn php the best thing to do is read the manual http://php.net/manual/en/ what i do is if i get stuck on a bit of coding ill read the manual that covers that bit. good luck
  15. if you had ssh enabled you could do it through there using the chmod command, but you dont so im sure that when the work is done you can change it again, keep checking the gamma server status on xisto's main site.
  16. you missed subdomain DNS like uni.cc i use the same sort of thing to them users can point subdomains to nameservers.
  17. phpfreek is right you cannot get totally free domains without having to do something first like posting a couple of hundred posts in a forum so you may as well just buy one. also it is true that $8 must be paid to ICANN per domain so domains cannot be made free unless you make a custom extension. So by the time you have spent a couple of months posting you may as well just buy one as it only takes 5 minuits.
  18. yeh mail.yourdomain.tld are always the cPanel default mail addresses, It must be your firewall, try setting up the same account but this time use IMAP and set all the fields, remember with IMAP your username is your email address. If your using IMAP alredy try using POP or POP3 or even the cpanel webmail at :2095 or /webmail.
  19. it was ment to show squares or chinese writing lol thats whats so funny, i think microsoft are colaberaqting with bush so if you say somthing wrong microsofts notepad ill mask it and repor tyou to the CIA... NAAA basically what happens is its a programming glitch. if you type in any 4 words in notepad starting with a 4 letter word two 3 letter words in the middle and again a 4 letter word at the end then save it it should come up with the same.
  20. I use the same domain system as Xisto - Web Hosting. It doesnt really matter where you get it from really. Doesnt have to be from Xisto - Web Hosting. DOmains a\re usually under $8 for .com .net and .org. I can register them for $5 but i use my own system. Yes if your domain is pointed to a server and the server goes down your site will go down as well untill the server comes back up. usually webhosts have backup servers that they also tell you to point to as a 3rd nameserver so if you site goes down on the main server it will still run off the backup server.
  21. this was taken from wht look at what you see lol. i found it quite funny enjoy
