June 6th 2006 - The Devils Number Possibly the end of the world?
moogie replied to Kubi's topic in General Discussion
@ kubi Well yes of course humans existed at that time. Humans were already around thousands of years before Christ. My apologies to anyone that the flash movie may have offended. It wasn't my intention to offend. I'm going to ask to have that link removed. -
June 6th 2006 - The Devils Number Possibly the end of the world?
moogie replied to Kubi's topic in General Discussion
Very interesting topic kubi. As for the world ending on June 6, 2006, I suppose it's a possibility. The same as it's a possibility that the world can end today, or tomorrow, or in 100 years. We certainly have been destructive enough to our planet. There is however the question of the date itself....June 6, 2006. I'm sure that articles and even books have been written about interpreting 666 as a date. If you think that 666 refers to a date, then this date is a date as we know it using the current calendar we are using. At the time Revelations was written, the calendar was totally different. So then how accurate would June 6, 2006 actually be? It's open to interpretation as to whether 666 refers to date or not. I know you said this wasn't a religious discussion, but the bible has to brought into it because that is where we get the 666 from. Revelations says . So my understanding is that 666 is not a date but a person. -
What Is Theme Of Your Current Desktop Image about images, pictures...
moogie replied to DeveloperX's topic in Software
Right now I've got a space shot I downloaded from Space. My favorite shots are the ones taken from the space telescopes. There are really quite a few to choose from and there are always new shots being added, so it's very easy to change your desktop wallpaper as often as you like. -
Congratulations Xisto!! And congratulations to all the Admins and Mods who keep Xisto alive and well and running smoothly.I'm proud to be a member.

What a good idea this topic is. It's always interesting to see what other people collect.I collect Beswick horses. They were made in England by John Beswick Company and are made of fine porcelain. Beswick was bought out by Royal Doulton in the 1980's and then the factory was closed down about 3 years ago.The Beswick factory started out by making tableware and then expanded into making animals. The horses are my favorites and it's the largest line of all the animals. Each model comes in a variety of colors and some particular colors are more rare and so more valuable.I have about 60 horses and they range in value from about US$30.00 (for a foal) up to US$2500.00. My oldest piece is about 60 years old. It's a shame that there won't be any new models now, but hopefully the existing pieces will continue to go up in value as time goes on.

Serious Wmf Windows Exploit No-one is safe right now
moogie replied to Tyssen's topic in Security issues & Exploits
According to Microsoft, Win98/Win98SE does not have the same problem so there will be no patch for it.Microsoft still offers some support for Win98SE on a paid basis. Hotfixes and patches are no longer available as of June 2003. Self-help support is still available for Win98SE on the Microsoft website until June 30, 2007.Critical security updates for Win98SE are available until June 30/06 from the Windows Update site. -
Thank you Saint Michael! This is a nice tutorial and I'm going to try and play with it.What's the best way to make the reflection look like a reflection in water? I mean...so that it's wavy?

How To Put Photo Onto Website More Effectively a bit technical
moogie replied to Peaktao's topic in General Discussion
Yes FrontPage will generate thumbnails for you. First place your pic in your html document. If you will have a lot of thumbnails all on the same page, then create a table first and put one pic in each cell. Then click on the pic to select it, go to your Pictures Toolbar and click Auto Thumbnail. FrontPage will automatically reduce the image size and also create a link to the full sized picture. You can change and set properties for thumbnails by going to the Tools menu, then choose Page Options and then choose the Auto Thumbnail tab. From here you can set or change a number of different options. -
Avoiding Bottlenecks W/ Dual Channel Memory Witnessing a PCs Potential
moogie replied to AllfatherBlack's topic in Software
I read your "rant" LOL in another area, complaining that no one has replied to this particular posting of yours, so I thought I'd come here and read it.I think you've explained the in's and out's of RAM, and dual channel memory in particular, very well. And, you've explained it so that those who are not quite as up on tech terms and hardware can still follow what you're saying. Well done!I'm not going to comment on Intel vs AMD. I'm a long standing Intel fan and it would take a lot of convincing to make me change! -
The only way that I can find to change graphics settings is from within the game. When the first screen comes up, choose ADVANCED, then OPTIONS, then the GRAPHICS tab. From there you can change quite a variety of settings and you can set your capabilities to a lower level. There also may be an issue with your video card/chip and you can check that by going to the support site for Civ4. Click HERE to go there. When I just checked the site, I noticed they have a new patch to download and it's a major patch. It's for performance improvement for everyone running the game but they make a point of stating that it will really help people who are trying to play using the minimum system requirements. Even though your laptop is brand new and high end, you might download the patch and install it. It might help too.

List Of Things To Optimize The Memory In A Pc
moogie replied to andrescasta's topic in Hardware Workshop
Upgrading your memory is probably the easiest way to gain processing power and speed on your computer.I also run Windows XP and I have 1GB of 533MHz memory. I don't have to shut down any programs or processes to play any games, but I do also have a 3.4GHz processor with hyperthreading and a 256MB PCI-X video card, so overall it's a pretty fast and capable computer. It all depends on what the rest of your hardware is like and what software you've got running. -
This is all good advice you've been given here but I think as far as hardware goes, you definitely need to upgrade your memory, especially if you're running Windows XP.Upgrade to at least 512MB and even more would be better.

LOL maybe you're right! I would definitely be VERY frightened if I woke up with no ears...and without a mouth to scream for help either.

LOL love your little bear but he definitely needs ears! And a mouth.Interesting background you chose. Looks like a dungeon or cavern setting.

If you install another graphics card, you definitely have to disable the onboard video. You'll need to check your owner's manual for the motherboard because in order to disable the onboard video you might have to either disable it in the BIOS, or you might have to change jumper configuration on the motherboard itself. Also, your owner's manual, or the specifications sheet, for the motherboard will tell you exactly what kind of graphics card the motherboard will take.If you don't have either of these documents but you do know the model and manufacturer of the motherboard, you will be able to download the specs from the manufacturer's website.

I'm a "you" too! I'm relatively new too and I'm very happy with the way this forum is moderated and with the rules. We need to have rules or it would be total anarchy with this many members. I like the fact that there is no spamming allowed because spam just clutters up the board without "saying" anything. The suggestion to do a copy and paste of one's post to a doc is a great one, and I too didn't know that if you get a 404 when you hit Add Reply, that the database will actually have received the posting. So that's good information. But, I do know that you can always contact a Moderator to clear up any confusion and to get rid of a duplicate posting if you think you posted twice in error.Anyways, Mukund welcome to the Trap! I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself. I find the members here are friendly and very helpful.

Latest Ie Exploit does anyone still use this browser?
moogie replied to sandbox's topic in Security issues & Exploits
This is really good information. Thank you.I went to the ComputerTerrorism site and tried the test and yes it is scarey how well IE co-operates with the test. Not only that, it hung itself and stopped responding when I tried closing the test pop-up window. First I got the message that that program was not responding and then IE crashed.I went into my security settings and disabled activeX scripting and ran the test again and.....nothing happened. Good! However, ComputerTerrorists do go on to say that as long as you stay off potentially malicious websites, you won't have a problem. Yeah....right.I forgot to add that my Calculator did not pop up. I was expecting it to.Did I misunderstand? -
Thanksgiving Sig turkey with a gun
moogie replied to Saint_Michael's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I believe it's because we Canadians are further north and so our harvest is in earlier than the harvest in the USA. But before our Thanksgiving was set by parliament in 1957 as an annual holiday on the second Monday of October, Thanksgiving was decided every year by parliament. Sometimes it was in October and sometimes as late as December. and sorry SM....I like your turkey sig...didn't mean to hijack the thread -
When In Doubt, Cut Your Computer Into Pieces Interesting forum topic...
moogie replied to Dooga's topic in Hardware Workshop
Oh my! Well, I wasn't offended. In fact, I admit that I laughed. Doesn't that thread sort of remind you of all the tech support jokes we've all heard? But, yes, I agree that the tech group on that forum should have been more helpful to the poor soul, but they were porbably all in shock. -
Sounds like a bad infection of either a trojan or malware I think. You might also go get Ad-Aware SE (it's free) and run it too. I find that between Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware they can catch pretty well everything. Here's the link for the Ad-Aware SE download. And maybe someone else will come along with some more ideas. It might help to know what operating system and browser you're using?

Sometimes skipping or freezing can happen if you've got other windows or programs open because they are also using bandwidth. What type of internet connection do you have? That may also have something to do with it. I found a nifty test you can run on your computer from the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) to see if your computer can display streaming video. Click here and run the test. Maybe it will help you.
