My First Flash Application Jump over a wall
moogie replied to kushagra666's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I think it's pretty good for a first effort! Let us see more as you make them.Flash animation is something I've been thinking of trying. I've never done any and you've just given some encouragement by showing that a beginner can make something and make it look decent. -
If you no longer attend the school, and that's how I understand it, then I don't see that there's a problem. Or am I missing something? You're 18, legally of the age of majority, no longer attend the school as a student and all that's left is the age difference. You're the only one who can decide if that difference is too great for you for a long term relationship and you might have to get to know him better before you make that decision. Because he's a high school teacher, he would be in touch with younger generations, so the age difference wouldn't impact you this way.On the other hand, being 16 years older than you means that when you're 50 he's 66.Take the time to get to know him and how you feel and then take it from there.

Ontario, Canada's largest province by population, is considering banning the use of cell phones and other electronic devices while driving. Under this proposed new law, drivers could be fined as much as $500, plus possibly be faced with a $1000 fine for endangering others, 6 demerit points, license suspension and possibly jail time. I imagine that the extra fines and charges would be laid on repeat offenders or in the case where an accident was caused because of using these devices. link Any hands-free devices, including cell phones and GPS systems, would still be allowed. This makes perfect sense to me and I'd be very happy to have this law in place. I live in the greater Toronto area in Ontario, lots and lots of traffic, and the roads are full of people not paying attention while driving. How many times have you been on the road and seen someone swerving erractically because they're trying to dial a number or answer their phone? Or seen someone who almost ran into the car in front of them because their eyes weren't on the road? I've seen that too many times. I've also seen people reading books and women putting on make up while driving. Maybe those should be banned too

My Teeth Are Never Clean. ...even though I brush them twice a day.
moogie replied to kudmus's topic in Health & Fitness
Like shadowx says, you should go to see a dentist. What you have sounds very much like a gum disease and if you don't get it treated it will get worse and you might wind up with infections or even losing teeth. -
Verified Paypal Account Verify an account w/o CC?
moogie replied to NelsonTR4N's topic in Business Forum
You do not need a credit card to be verified with Paypal. You only need to register your bank account information with them and when they make the small deposit, you complete the verification process and that's it.You do need a credit card to confirm your address so you can have Confirmed status with Paypal. There are many businesses and sellers who will only ship to Confirmed so they will be protected by the Paypal Sellers Protection Plan. -
Up until recently, I've been a very active seller on ebay for the past 4 years. This venue has changed so much recently. At one time, ebay provided a fair playing field for both buyers and sellers, but starting about a year ago all that changed. Now the buyer has all the advantages and the seller is the one who stands the chance of being ripped off, has higher fees to pay, can't warn other sellers any more by giving any kind of negative feedback about buyers and has more and more restrictions placed on them by ebay about shipping and what form of payments are acceptable to specify in your listings. When ebay bought Paypal, we all suspected that eventually ebay would say that Paypal is the ONLY form of payment sellers can accept and that is exactly what's happening now. No more money orders, cash, personal cheques, only Paypal. Of course, Paypal's fees are now another money grab for Paypal and ebay.I also used to participate in the ebay community forums, helping other members resolve problems, showing them where they can find information and of course socializing. The community forums used to be a fun, pleasant place with more experienced members helping the less experienced. Now even that has changed. Many of the experienced members were of course sellers and there is so much discontent with ebay that many of these very knowledgeable people have left and no longer participate. Why help ebay when they are doing nothing to help us?ebay is now also allowing large discounters to be sellers and offering them special rates and deals that the average seller is not being offered. So to get back to the question of using ebay to make money? At one time the small seller could indeed sell items and make some profit but now that's all fallen by the wayside as it's obvious that ebay no longer cares about them. The whole ebay thing started out with small sellers offering new and used goods, collectibles etc and this is what made ebay a great place for both sellers and buyers. That whole concept has been shot down now by ebay. So can you make money? Only if you're lucky and have a very very unique and rare item to sell and even then there is no guarantee it will get the market value price.I'm still buying and selling collectible porcelain and figures but now I put them up for auction with a local auctioneer and even after paying his 25% fees, I'm making more profit.

Forensic sciences have advanced so much! I remember seeing a CSI episode about a body farm and this body farm was used for the scientific study of human remains as they decompose. There really are such body farms around! The University of Tennessee has one: link I think it's interesting that the brain is one of the last things to purge. I would have thought that this softer tissue would start to decompose much sooner but then maybe it's not as soft I think it is

Going Green Or Going Crazy? What were they thinking????
moogie replied to sheepdog's topic in General Discussion
I agree that the output of these CFL's seems to be less than their rating states, in other words they are not as bright as incandescents. But some of this problem apparently depends on which manufacturer's bulbs are purchased as not all manufacturer's CFL's are equal. Some are better than others.I've also noticed that even though they have a longer life span, on average, their output actually decreases as time goes by. I did some research and discovered that the average CFL starts decreasing output at about 40% of its lifespan! So in my kitchen I still use halogen lamps for the extra brightness. I like to be able to see what I'm cooking But for reading, or in any lamp where previously a tri-light was used, I do use CFL's and they're fine in those types of fixtures. Some CFL's are available now for use with dimmer switches and those I use in the dining room.I'm all for saving energy and reducing costs but until manufacturers start producing a better product, there will still be a place for incandescents and halogen lamps. -
Hi babazukaz! Nice to meet you too. I'm from Canada, the far side of the world from you.Welcome to Xisto and I'm sure you'll meet lots of people and maybe even make some new friends

Is it really important who wins this discussion? Isn't it more important to accept our friends for what and who they are and accept the fact the they have opinions different from our own?I understand that you're frustrated but whether she's right or you're right shouldn't matter. Both of you should try to accept each other regardless of your differences

Stop for a moment and think about why you started skipping classes. Is it that you're bored with them or maybe you've got another direction in mind, like taking classes that some of your friends are taking because you think you'd like them better? Or maybe you want to change your educational focus and don't even realize it.Talk to a counsellor at school. They are very knowledgeable and can help you out with not only your classes but also with any personal issues you might have. They can also recommend other forms of counselling and most schools offer them to their students at no charge. Also talk to your instructors and see what you can do to make up for the time and class work you've lost. And definitely talk to your mother and let her know what's happening with you. If you have a good relationship with her, I'm sure she'll do everything she can to help you.

Let's Celebrate Four Years Of Saint Michael
moogie replied to Saint_Michael's topic in General Discussion

No game is worth wasting your life on.It's true that one can get hooked on playing games like wow but it's important to remember that there are other things in life, like living. I play wow too but I'm not a 16 year old with obviously nothing else to do. I have responsibilities and bills to pay and play wow in my free time in the evenings.Maybe if that 16 year old, who is now at least 17, had responsibilities too then he wouldn't have had this total addiction. I wonder what he's up to now that more than a year has passed.

After you buy and install the battlechest, you will have to get all the updates from the Blizzard site and that will bring your Warcraft up to speed to the latest version. In fact, you can't run the game at all until you've completed all the updates and patches. Current patch is up to version 2.4By doing it this way it saves Blizzard a lot of money because they don't have to keep producing new install CD/DVD's.

I'm not very happy about this at all. Handing over my personal information to a company that I have no contact with at all is completely out of line.Yes I can understand Viacom's concerns about copyright infringement and wanting to clamp down on that, but why do they need my personal information to do just that? And what are they going to do with my information once they have it?The onus should be on google to be responsible for copyright violations. Viacom is a private company and as such has no right to my information being divulged from another source.

Health And Standing In Front Of A Computer - Suggestions
moogie replied to xebay's topic in Health & Fitness
I spend a lot of time in front of a computer too, but I'm not standing, I'm sitting. Either way I think it's important to change your position occasionally, make sure you're not slouching and to take your eyes away from the screen every now and then to give them a break. If you can, walk away from the computer for a break and stretch your muscles. As far as general health goes, you need to do the same things that other people who stand all day for their jobs do and that is to eat healthy and get exercise. I don't think it's any different. -
Happy Birthday Canada! July 1 is Canadas national holiday
moogie replied to moogie's topic in General Discussion
I agree that England should have a national day off too. Everyone deserves a national day of celebration. I think maybe the problem is that the British never had to declare independence from anyone. You had so many colonies though that over the years declared their independence from you -
I belong to a WOW guild and we're considering a website for our members. Has anyone any experience designing and running such a site? For a start, we're only interested in a basic website for our members so we can show member character stats, announce raids and have a forum so we can all leave messages for each other and discuss strategy and levelling tips.I know there are templates available and I'm wondering if it would be just as easy to use one of the premade templates rather than create a site from scratch.Any comments would be greatly appreciated

I've tried Expression Web and find it very easy to use. Lots of features available and the coding is so much better than FrontPage ever was and is now fully compliant.PHP has been added in the new version 2.0 and Ihave no idead why Microsft didn't include this in the original release.Overall, it's a nice piece of software.

Today, we Canadians celebrate Canada Day.On July 1867, three British colonies, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and the Province of Canada, joined together to become a federation of four provinces known as Canada. The Province of Canada, formerly Upper Canada and Lower Canada, was divided to become Ontario and Quebec.Originally known as Dominion Day, the name was officially changed to Canada Day in 1982, the year the Constitution Act patriated our constitution and the British no longer had any polotical control over our country. There is always a huge festival in Ottawa, our capital, with a parade, live music and entertainment and fireworks at night. This whole celebration is broadcast on national television.Locally, communities celebrate much the same but on a smaller scale. Fun activities for all ages, live concerts and fireworks at night. It's a day that many families spend time together or friends visit with each other. So, Happy Birthday Canada!

Very nice work. I like the fact that you have many different styles that you apply to your sigs.

This might be a silly question, but do you have your foreground color set to white?Or maybe you're in quick mask mode? Try pressing q to see if it toggles off.But perhaps one of the more experienced photoshop users will come along and have some better advice.

Canadian Tax Deadline Moved to May 6th for filing via internet
moogie replied to jlhaslip's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the information but it's too late. I filed mine on Sunday I wonder if they'll also waive the late filing fee if someone owes them money when they file, or whether they're just going to let you file late and then zap you with the penalty? -
Looking For Hard Drive Backup & Restore Software
moogie replied to Saint_Michael's topic in Operating Systems
Seagate puts out some OEM software called DiscWizard and I've heard good things about it. It seems it will do exactly what you're looking for and it will work with drives other than Seagate. From my own past experience working closely with Seagate, their products are reliable and topnotch. It's free and can be downloaded from Seagate's tech support website here Full documentation is found here -
