Now think of how that melting pot of civilizations has evolved into what are today the various states, countries and religions involved in the ongoing turmoil in the middle east. Yes I'll be watching. Not only because it will be an historic occasion having the first African American as president but also because my country has very close ties with the USA and I'll be very interested to hear what Obama will have to say in his speech.I want to know what his plans are for the American economy, the wars being waged in the middle east and want more information on what he intends to do about Bin Laden (he's already made a strong but very general statement that he will take action).After the inauguration, Obama will be under a lot of pressure to perform miracles and correct mistakes Bush made and it will be interesting to see how and if he can do that over the four years of his presidency.

Very cold here too in southern Ontario. Right now at lunch time it's about -17C (1F) with the wind chill making it feel like about -27C (-10F) and it's not going to break until Friday. The overnight temp forecast for tomorrow is -20C (-4F) and it'll feel like -30C (-22F). Now that's really cold! The city of Toronto has put out a cold weather alert and efforts are increased to make sure the homeless get indoors to shelters. Commuter trains are delayed because of frozen switches. I agree echo, the art of writing letters is dying fast. With all the texting, emails and IM's, plus services like skype, it's so easy to talk to someone far away every day. Before all these services were available we had to write letters to each other to stay in touch and to relate any news about what's happening in our lives and these letters were quite often at least 2 or 3 pages long. It would sometimes be weeks before we got a reply with any news from the other person. Now all that's changed and we can interact with our friends and family every day, instantly. I think it's great!Yes I do still write the occasional letter or note, like at Christmas as part of the Christmas card or in a birthday card to someone far away. The only other letter I write is to an elderly relative who doesn't have or use a computer, and yep I really have to try hard to keep my handwriting legible One day set aside in the year to be computer free? That will probably never happen. That'd be like asking the TV not be turned on for a day and just listen to the radio instead. Oh wait .. that DOES happen here
