  1. For free? I dunno, not on the net I can tell you unless you are lucky. But you can get them for pretty cheap from places like ebay and some other online electronic stores.
  2. Pen is mightier than the sword so I keep a lot of pens around, plus the wits and brains to use them. If people had some common sense they would understand how useless a gun is.
  3. In this other thread you asked for help in learning Assembly, so I want to ask how you can conclude that it is the best if you don't know how to program in it? Assembly should be learned after C and C++
  4. Hmm, yeah that would have been a good idea! -_-Kingston, Ontario, CanadaSympatico is Bell's ADSL internet provider and pretty big in Ontario, so if you are in range of this provider (range matters in ADSL, the closer to the provider the better) I would recommend choosing it instead of Cable or other options.
  5. I haven't played for a long time, but I used to use one of the custom config packs that I downloaded and customized. 6. Well there is a simple solution to all gift related problems: don't give any, don't expect any! muhahaha (*evil laughter)
  7. LOL, yeah this news did get quiet popular here in Turkey. Its herd psychology, if one sheep jumps off they all will! And yeah, 450 of them died off the cliff and there is nothing you can do. It isn't possible to sell the meat because the sheep are already dead.A similar thing happened afterwards too, some 100 sheep jumped into a river and drowned. Some of them were saved barely alive and therefore were sent to the slaughterhouse.
  8. Okay, I saw the Rogers post above so I'll promote Sympatico. We have been using Sympatico ADSL for two years now and we have been greatly impressed by it. First of all you may know that MSN and sympatico have been merged, and because of this our internet speed was upgraded from 1500/340 to 3000/600 for FREE! as in we still pay the same amount for internet that is twice as fast! Moreover, during the summer holidays we leave our university town of Kingston and therefore don't need the connection. Suspending it for the summer was very easy, all it took was a phone call and our connection was cut and is going to be automatically activated the day we get back. Overall, I have been greatly impressed by Sympatico. I would suggest it to any other kind of internet connection in Ontario.
  9. Intel does seem to have better laptop technology, not only that but generally better mobile cpus which include the PDA cpus. They are completely dominating the mobile market with and I think they have close to 90% market share.Their better power management is also why Apple chose to switch to Intel CPUs from the IBM PowerPC CPUs.On desktop systems however, AMD's Althon series are more efficient. AMD can basically keep up with Intel CPUs that run at nearly twice the speed! That alone shows how advanced the Athlon architecture is. I find it odd that they don't do so good in the mobile market which has grown just as big as the desktop market.
  10. If you want to premake simple image galleries I would suggest using programs that are designed for that purpose. A quick search on download.com resulted in a program called Web Gallery Creator, you may want to check that out, it basically created the html page, the thumbnails and puts everything into their proper folders. As for php script galleries Coppermine is a very good one which can also be integrated into a bunch of different bulletin boards.
  11. Dude, this is like comparing a Fiat to a Ferrari (or Corvette to Cavaliar depending on where you are). Now Dell also has gaming systems, fine, but you really cannot compare one company to the other. One is the worlds largest supplier of PCs and the other is a well known supplier of specialist machines, what else can we say?
  12. Start from C, then C++ then JAVA. That is how you should go, if you learn java first and go backwards you will have problems when you get to C!
  13. Everything inside the temp folder can safely be deleted, some people never delete the stuff in there so it grows huge. It is a good idea to delete everything in it regularly. It is possible that there are downloaded things in there, some programs by default download into the temp folder and then move the downloaded file to wherever it is supposed to be in. If something interrupts the download or the copy process they can remain in there, delete everything nevertheless.
  14. Of course we need less weapons around the world but nuclear power has two sides. It is one of the cheapest sources of energy, therefore being popular amongst developed countries for producing electricity and I think it should be continued to be used till an even cleaner source of power is found. However you can never trust a country to just use it for power, developed or not, they will in most cases begin weapons projects. Once the infrastructure is in place to produce enriched uranium then it is fairly simple to make it into a weapon.
  15. from what I've seen, phone technoloıgy in the states is kinda behind the rest of the world. That is comparing the likes of Motorola vs Nokia or Sony Ericsson.
  16. I think I have a 16mb one somewhere that was sent as a promotion when I got a one year dialup internet. I switched to ADSL three months afterwards! LOLI use my PDA for larger files anyway, it has a 256MB SD card on it, so I just take the card and the reader.

    5700 Pci

Ugh, guys, he is saying he wants a PCI card, newer cards don't actually have PCI versions. If he can find a 5700 then he should go for it, but the last PCI card I know of (that I've seen that is) is the ATI9000.
  18. If you forget about the mods may I recommend SMF? Its a great board with lots of development going on as of now. You can check it out at http://www.simplemachines.org/
  19. The simplest thing if you know what you are doing. If you don't know about master slave jumper settings and IDE cabling do some searching on the net. As for DVD-ROM drives, they are very cheap nowadays, you can go for brands like LG, Sony, Samsung or Liteon. Nobody buys them anymore though because DVD-RW drives are also very very cheap. I got a Sony Dual Layer, Dual Format drive for about 100 bucks, you can probably find cheaper ones. Oh and, don't worry about your computer's specs, I installed the above Sony drive on a P3-600, that computer still runs everything perfectly. If you look after your comp, stay with updated drivers and defrag, you won't have any problems, I dunno what kservice was smoking
  20. FIA did suggest putting a speed limit on turn 13 for Michelin cars only, but they refused. I would have really liked to see Toyota win, oh well...
  21. Pretty soon they'll need to make something as influential as the iPod again though, they are beginning to get some competition from companies such as Creative, Iriver and Sony.
  22. If you don't count maybe one or two specialist motherboards all of them used to come with a single AGP slot which is used for the graphics card. Thus you can plug in only one. However, if you had a PCI graphics card for some reason, there would be nothing against installing that as well. Or if you had integrated graphics to your motherboard plus an agp slot. It would do you very little though, namely enable the addition of extra monitors. There is no way you can increase the performance or anything. That was the case waay back, like ten years ago with the 3DFX Voodoo and Voodoo2 cards. Those were added to your existing card and you could even put two of them. They were solely for gaming though. Nvidia has revived that under the name SLR these days, using two PCI-Express cards you can get up to four monitors and use the two cards together to supercharge gaming performance.
  23. I have a three year old HP Omnibook XT6200 which is still in perfect shape, and I would recommend HP for all kinds of business or school work.I have no experience with Dell laptops, so I cannot comment on them.My own computer is a German Gericom 9600, which got modded and painted and tortured and is still in good shape. However I can say that obviously Gericom's service is nowhere near as good as the big boys'. Its battery died (pretty quickly for that matter) and I cannot easily replace it. On the other hand, it outperforms most laptops out there today due to its fast CPU and GPU, so you get speed by sacrificing service.Toshiba is a very experienced company for laptops, none of my friends with Toshiba's have had problems and they have great warranty and service options. Their Tecra and Qosmio lines (may differ due to location) are great.Apart from brand, I would consider two important things. 1. size, this includes the weight and the monitor size. 14inch and a 2.5kg laptop is great for portability, but a 15.4inch 3.5kg laptop usually has very good multimedia capabilities. The second is battery life, you'll usually want more of this, but if you want a fast processor it goes down so it is up to you to balance the two.As for the CPUs, Dothan codename CPUs for laptops are old now, look for the latest Sonoma codename (these are codenames, they are all branded as Pentium-M) CPUs which consume less power and have a lot of cache memory on them which makes them really fast.

    5700 Pci

does it HAVE to be a 5700? You aren't gonna get far looking for a PCI card these days, (or do you mean PCI-Express?). I would suggest an ATI 9000 if they exist, I kinda remember they had PCI versions of those.
  25. Well actually, the police know the streets so well in İstanbul that when they catch someone on the camera the police can get to him pretty quickly.
