  1. He is right, the easiest way to do that is to first get the forum up and then use the data for the profiles/usernames/passwords for your site. One problem I can see is figuring out what type of protection the forum uses on the passwords, whether its md5 or a custom thing. You would have to figure this out so that your login on your site would work. The only other problem I see is cookies, I'm not quite sure how you would set cookies so that it works for both, because it usually sets domains with it. So you probably would need to set a cookie for your whole site or something like that. hope it helps, xJedix
  2. I remember doing these before because they are a pain to get them to update if I remember right. Unfortunatly I can't remember where I used them.... otherwise I would show you the code for them because I did get the check boxs to work right. All I remember is doing if statements to check if they are active or not, and using 1's and 0' for clicked or not. This probably won't help that much, but I figured I might as well say what I remember.I hope you figure it out, I'll check my site later to see if I have it hidden somewhere ;)xJedix
  3. Hi, I was wondering if there is a way to grab a part of a message and put it into a variable. For example, if I have this e-mail message /w all headers and extras included, I want to just grab the actual message out of it. I have been looking at some different php functions but I'm not sure exactly I would go about doing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks, xJedix
  4. rofl, thats really amuzing. I don't know if you could get any money off of warranty or something like that. I don't think they would cover something like that.I guess your best bet is to just get a new war3 TFT disk and cd-rom drive... Did the cd-rom drive get busted? You didn't say but I would think it would if the cd exploded in it.xJedix
  5. Yea, basically what plenoptic said. You want to make a full backup of your site in cpanel, then upload it to your new one. The only problem is for like php + mysql, the user names, and db names will be different so you will have to change them to whatever you set them as. Other than that, it is a fairly easy thing to do.Let me know if you need anymore help ;)xJedix
  6. I don't know, It's kind of a hard decision. I chose SG-1 though because its the origional and I guess I like it more. I never got into atlantis that much and haven't been able to watch that much of it. Though from what I have seen of atlantis, I think it is also very good.... probably as good as SG-1.Stargate is an awsome tv-show, I just wish they would bring it back to being totally on normal broadcasting tv-stations instead of cable because I no longer got cable :'( Now I can only watch the replays of the older season on channel 29.xJedix
  7. Has anyone else have a problem where their scroll bar has disapeared? Because I updated my firefox to 1.5 and I don't have a scroll bar anymore. I don't know if its a setting or something with the theme I have... If anyone could give me some help, that would be greatly appreciated.
  8. I was going to post this link.... I found it yesterday. It is quite amuzing to watch. The people on the site donated money so that they could do this. There is a video and a bunch of pictures on that site. Saint_Michael, would you care to comment on my reply to your other post since you have failed to and are still boasting around that plastation rules? That's what I hate about our society today, big rich companys can get away with so much. If you take a small business with no reputation for example, they would be out of business within a week of being sued. With big companys, they can tweak things in their favor. Sony has pushed everything back and is making this case take forever, as you can tell from the dates on the articles - March 28, 2005 They push it back so that they can continue distributing ps2's and making money. Yes, there are things that I don't like about both but I'd take a xbox over a ps2 anyday. xJedix From this topic: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/30928-xbox-user-to-sue-microsoft/ Sony is being sued cause they are using patented items in their ps2. So how does that make ps2's better? Also, if you look here: http://news.a.com.com/ They state: They have only recieved isolated reports. Also, it is expected that when an item is being mass pruduced like this that there are going to be some percentage of bad items. Nothing is perfect. xJedix Notice from jlhaslip: edit per report
  9. rofl, you think sony is better? At least microsoft didn't do patent infringement on their system. Check out these sites: http://news.a.com.com/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Sony is dumb and is basically screwed because they are being sued $82+ million and will have to stop production of ps2's once this case goes through. 10. I have done this many times to stop un-wanted programs from starting up. It helps a lot. One other thing that msconfig is useful for is disabling viruses. If you have a virus on your computer, it's setup to automatically start with windows and the virus will be in the start-up program list or under services. Just like what savge17 said, you have to be careful and not disable things that need to be running otherwise bad things will happen. I have had issues with viruses before and this is one easy way to stop them.... and then let your anti-virus do its work :)xJedix
  11. Very nice tutorial and setup for a login system. I have my own I have used in the past as a clan site. You have given me many ideas to try that will majorly improve my site. I like your secure md5 passes, thats a great idea especially for something like a clan site. I am going to have to incorperate that into my site. Also, I haven't liked functions that much but it makes everything much simplilar and gives you a lot of freedom by using them. I will have to give them a try in the future. I got one question..... for this line in admin.php: print "<tr><td align=\"center\" colspan=\"7\"><font color=\"#FFFFFF\" size=\"2\"><b>Sorry, there is no members registered.</b></font></td></tr>\n"; You can just have this line like this and still work: print "<tr><td align=center colspan=7\><font color=#FFFFFF size=2><b>Sorry, there is no members registered.</b></font></td></tr>\n";Is it wrong to do it that way? or does problems occur by doing this? Also, is this code changed to php5? Because I remember being told that " should be ' in the php sections of the code for the new versions of php. Thanks for the tutorial, and if someone could answer my questions.... that would be great xJedix Notice from jlhaslip: Edit to repair bbcode as per report.
  12. I have had many issues with this type of problem before. Sometimes the global variables will work but sometimes they won't so it is best to do what rvalkass said and assign and get the variables from the form in the process.php file. When I was working with login scripts, I went from one host to another. The first host had global vars on and the one I went to didn't so I had to mod everything to get it to work again.xJedix
  13. Well, thats the problem with people these days.... (no offense or anything) Some people arn't to bright with computer things and will give out very important information that others can use to their benefit. It is quite sad that people do this but they are out there and I think there will always be those type of people. xJedix
  14. I too am going to have to try this out. At least once I change my isp so that I can actually host things(have servers). I have been wanting to do a radio station for a while now and a web server to go along with it but can't right now. Thanks for the tutorial, its very informative and helpful.xJedix
  15. lol, it never worked It has given me that error since I first tried it. But thanks anyways, I'll have to live with the php chat or try the one jlhaslip pmed me. Thanks for the help, it's kind of wierd that they don't work though.... maybe something wrong with the setup on the server for them. xJedix
  16. If the ip is the problem.... how do I fix it? I tried what you said, clearing my cache and cookies but it still doesn't work. I tried both on mozilla and ie and it doesn't work on either. Here, could you see if either of these work for you? http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ or http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ and type in a username and press enter. Could someone please check and see if these work for them, then maybe we can determine if its on my end or not? thanks, xJedix
  17. Does the Java or the CGI chat room already installed on the server in cpanel work? Because they are not working for me. I've tried both and they both fail to work. In cpanel, its under "preinstalled Scripts" then "Java/CGI Chat Room" When I try the java chat room, I get this error: When I try the normal cgi chat, I get a page cannot be displayed error. Do the chat rooms just don't work? or is there something to fix this? Any help would be appreciated.... P.S. I did search for this topic and found one topic pertaining to this topic, but I still would like to know why it doesn't work. The topic can be found Here Thanks, xJedix
  18. If you know how the icons work on cd's.... its basically the same thing. All you do is find or make and icon(they are .ico) and upload it to your home directory of your site, in the www or public_html folder and name it "favicon.ico"(without the quotes)and thats it.... B)have fun and enjoyxJedix
  19. Your new computer will be tite. When is vista coming out? lol, my computer is old and sucks but it still good enough for the games I play. Notice from jlhaslip: Please list the specs of your machine inside quote tags. 20. Yea, I kind of figured that. I like Monty Python and the Holy Grail the best and thats why I did a quote from that movie though all of the Monty Python movies are great.
  21. Welcome, I'm sure you will like it here. This forum is great for any questions you need anwsers for and for any help with scripting or web design.I too love Monty Python. It's such a great and funny movie. I watch it whenever I have spare time. My favorite quote is "Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelled of elderberries!"I hope you enjoy it here as I have, let me know if you need anything.... B)xJedix
  22. Well, Obviously you are a liberal..... But that is kind of amuzing that comes up for "failure"
  23. Trap17.net started around Oct 14 2005. I got that date from this post: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/28696-trap17net-free-web-hosting-introducing-trap17net-not-com/ Thats Opaque's post introducing Xisto.com to Xisto.net. I'm fairly sure that when he posted it was basically when it started up. xJedix
  24. lol, your right but still.... shes only 10. Thats extrememly good for her age. Just imagine what she will be doing in a couple of years Basically, if she doesn't mess her life up with drugs... she is set for the rest of her life. A nice life to be exact :\ xJedix
  25. Just like what moody said, just be patient. The admins are vary busy as you could probably guess. They have to run this awsome webhost and keep everything going, its a lot of work. You should get a response within like 1-4 days. If not, then I would talk to an admin. For Local host, if you have a mysql database on your Xisto host and thats where you have your scripts, then you would leave your code as is. $cfg['mysqlhost'] = 'localhost'; // Database host URL It is referring to where your database is located. Since the database is running on the same server as the mysql server, you use localhost to route it to itself. I think of it like computer ips. Where if you want to connect to your self, you use 127.0.0.1 For this, it's localhost instead of 127.0.0.1 If the database is somewhere else, then you have to specify the ip of the computer running the server. If you have a mysql runnning on your computer for example, you would input your ip. Hope it helps, xJedix
