  1. There are many topics that are similar to this one.... But I said I liked the xbox console the best because I don't like ps2 and I have never played the 360 yet. So I like the xbox console the best
  2. Modding xbox's are legal, the only illegal part is the software part. Currently there is only one dashboard, operating system for the modded xbox that is legal. The problem with the others is that they use copywrited software which makes it illegal. I can't remember the name of this dashboard but they totally wrote it, using nothing that was copywrited which makes it legal. Currently, there are two ways of modding. Soft and hard modding. Soft modding just overwrites the os on the xbox with a different one and adding cool media centers. The nice thing about soft-modding is that you don't have to do physically anything to your xbox. You don't have to add a mod chip but it is handy to add a larger HDD because you can only fit one of the smaller games on your HDD that comes with the xbox. Hard modding, is where you buy a mod chip, usually on the internet and installing it on your xbox. This is much more difficult way of modding but I think it is better and you get better features. One problem with modding it this way, if you do it wrong.... there is a possibilty of recking your xbox. Then once you install the mod chip, it is also good to get a bigger HDD for the same reason as mentioned before. Here are some pictures of my friend's modded xbox. Unfortunatly these are older pictures, he added lights in his xbox since these pictures. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Enjoy
  3. In my experience, it has never physically hurt my computer by manually turning off my computer. The only thing you have to be concerned about is what type of programs are running at the time your shutting it down. If you do a force shutdown via holding the power button down, programs that are running won't save any current data that they have. So lets say your running something that keeps logs and only saves the logs when the program is terminated. When you do a force shutdown, those logs won't be saved.I'm not possitive about information not saving when you press the power button, like if your computer is running fine and you press the button. So correct me if I'm wrong. But I know for sure that when you hold the power button in for the 3-4 seconds, nothing saves.... especially when your computer is frozen.

    Gaim 2.0 Is Out

Sweet, thanks man. Hopefully it has fixed some annyoing bugs, but one can only find out from try and error :\ It would have been a while before I realized there was a new version out.Btw, for those who don't know what gaim is. Gaim is an open source free software that works with aim, msn, irc, yahoo, jabber, and a couple other clients. This is kind of like trillion but I think its better. I have been using gaim for the past year now and I like it 100%. I would recommend this to everyone, though not recommened to people that arn't computer literate.
  5. Nice, Hopefully the new server will solve the lag issues. I have only noticed some lag once and a while. For me it wasn't bad, especially when you consider how many memebers, posts, people online at the same time, etc. Thanks for keeping us updated
  6. Thanks for the suggestion, I really didn't want to have to re-install firefox :\ Yea, it was the theme I was using. My firefox never informed me that there was updates for it which it usually does. Now it works fine, Thanks for everyone's suggestion.
  7. After installing firefox 1.5, I realized that on every site, there are no scrollbars. It is really annoying and I'm wondering if someone could help me figure out why they are gone or is everyone else having the same problem? Also, the little box's scrollbars on sites are missing too.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  8. I don't have my own xbox but I have helped my friend with his. We added a xbox mod chip and a 100gig hdd to it. It has xbox media center and I think one other dashboard. It's really nice, you can save games, movies, and music to the hard drive. My friends xbox can visit any site on the web and any ftp server if you have a internet connection hooked up to it. Also, you can have emulators on it and play other system games on it. I put Nintendo 64 emulator on it and we were playing N64 games on the xbox, its really awsome. With a mod chip and bigger hdd, you can transform your simple gaming system into basically a computer :(Also, my friend changed his case to a clear green case. He has a thomson dvd drive in his so you can take the plate off the top of it and see the laser work while playing games through the clear case. It's tight. Also, we added some light cords going all over inside the box. We are thinking about adding some cathode lights to the front and the sides which look really sweet. The other nice thing you can do is play on free online servers that act like xbox like. I can't remember the exact name for it or their site, but I'm sure someone else will post it.Maybe if I can get my friend to take some pictures of his box, I might post them out to show everyone. It's really cool what you can do with them
  9. I like what you did with your blog. It looks very nice. The layout is simple and to the point. I like simple things because I hate sites that are just loaded with tons of stuff and it makes them look messy. Again, your banner is simple but very nice.A couple suggestions:One, The calendar on the front page..... It would be really nice if you could click on the certain day and have it come up with posts from that day. It would be hard, well for sql you would just do a query for that day in the time spot..... but I don't know how you did it, but I don't think it would be that hard. Just a suggestion, I think it would be cool if you did that. And then also, only have links on the days you made posts and the days you didn't, just leave it without a link. Two, I don't know but I don't like the links on the top. I think they just don't fit. I think you would be best off changing it to something a little smoother or use a gloss look if you know how to use photoshop or a program similar. I think the site would overall work better because in my opinion your site is pretty smooth looking and simple, and then you have those buttons which I don't think fit in.Hope it helps, I like what you have done and I like people that make their own stuff instead of using premade sites from someone else....
  10. Member number is the number total number of members at the point you joined. So basically, OpaQue is the first member and created the forum. His member number is 1. The next person that joined has a member number number of 2 and so on and so on to where we are now which is in the 10,000+ range.Another way to look at it is how many members were registered to the forum at the time you joined.I hope it helps
  11. It is megabytes. If it wasn't, I would be way over my quote already. I have like 100MB used out of my 150MB quota. I didn't really realize that there was two different sizes of megabyte and megabit. Thats nice to know, thanks kingi89
  12. Yes, you can do all of that. Addon on domains are enabled, I am not sure why that message in there. When I first did addon domains, I didn't know if it work either. Yes, you need to set your other domain(s) to the Xisto name servers. Failure to do this will result in the domain not working or showing a different site. Once you set your domain(s) to point to the Xisto nameservers, you need to setup the domain in your cpanel, via "addon domain". Fill it out and setup a redirection if you desire that feature. Yes, you will have the ability to send and recieve e-mails through your addon domains. The only thing you have to do is setup an e-mail account and make sure you switch the domain to the one you want. Once you do that, you can send e-mails from it. Note, once you point your domain(s) to the Xisto nameservers, it will take within a day for the DNS to update. So if your wondering why you can view your site from the domain, don't worry. Just be patient and wait. Though if its getting to 2 to 3 days, then ask for more help I hope it helps, let me know if you need anything. Notice from jlhaslip: This question is in the Xisto - Web Hosting section of the Forum, so I assume the member originating this Topic has an account there. xjedixx's references to Xisto should also apply at Xisto - Web Hosting, however the nameservers are different, I believe. Other than that, the information should apply. Also, Xisto dot NET nameservers will be different again. Xisto dot NET do not use cpanel, either. They use xpanel, which has fewer features than the cpanels at Xisto.com and Xisto - Web Hosting.com. If this is incorrect, someone will surely come by and correct us.
  13. I play Warcraft III TFT a lot. I guess, thats the main game I play right now but I also sometimes play America's Army. You should add that game to the list. It's an awsome game + it's totally free. You have to do training to begin with but then you play on servers with other people and do missions and terrorists vs counter terrorist. I would recommend this game, its great and awsome graphics
  14. That is awsome. Thanks for sharing the link with us. I'm planning on building a computer sometime in the near future and I'm thinking about using liquid cooling, becuase it does it's job well and I like the extra features Also, so I can have bragging rights :PUsing cooking oil to keep your motherboard, proccessor, video card, etc... Is a very creative way. I wonder if more people will go on with this idea or if a company might do something with this? I would think by having the liquid in contact with the components that it would short of or something and ruin it. But I guess it doesn't.
  15. Yes, when they say its a trial, it means they limited it so you can have only so many posts and so many members. I'm not sure about if its missing features, I believe it has all of the main ones but most likely doesn't have any of the nice addons. Also, jlhaslip made a good point. Its best to use only software directly from the producers site.
  16. The skin you got for it is pretty nice. There are only a few things I disklike on it but that's my opinion. I don't like how big the reply, quote, etc. buttons are. They are a bit distracting. The only other thing I don't really like is the banner. It's kind of plain and to me looks a bit blurry.Just giving you my opinion, other than those things, the skins pretty nice. xJedix
  17. Nothing is flawless. That is a simple fact of life. I'm 99% sure that there will be flaws and problems with ps3 when it comes out. As others have said, xbox 360 came out early to be the first one out and to get more success. In result they have had many problems though not totally widely spread. As articles on cnn.com and other onlines sources say that these overheating problems are sporadic and not many occurrences. Even though, if I ever got either it would be a xbox 360. One of my main reasons is because I very much dislike sony for stealing patented products and using them in their ps2. Though it is very unlikely I will get either becuase I would rather get a computer before a xbox 360 xJedix
  18. I have gone through about 5 free hosts so far and Xisto is the best by far. For uptime, I don't know a precent but the servers are always up unless their is a problem. There hasn't been any problems lately but in the past the mysql database has gone down for a couple hours. The worst downtime I think was 2 days when the servers got messed up. The hosting package has many nice features, many pre-installed scripts via fantistico.I also like Xisto a lot because if you need any help with scripting your site or computer problems or basically anything, you can make a post on this forum and someone is always happy to help This forum has helped me many times with scripting and comptuer problems. It's a very nice source of information. Almost everyone is friendly, especially the mods unless you break the rules But yea, this a great host. I would recommend it :DxJedix
  19. For parked domains, I believe you can only have them pointed at the index page which your first domain is pointed to. But addon domains would work for what you want to do. You would have it point to your main directory where all your files are, then go back to the addon domain page and click setup redirection for that domain. Then you can have it point to wherever you want it to go.For if the name in the address bar will change, as long as you purchased a domain with the capability of masking, then it will stay as the domain you entered into the address bar, but if that feature is not enabled, it will go to your other one.I hope it helps, let me know if you need anymore help or clarifications :DxJedix
  20. That looks like the a part of a page from phpnuke. You could just use that and it would be really simple. Otherwise look at this page: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/7247-complete-login-system-with-php-mysql/= It's a tutorial for making a login system by one of our members. It's a pretty nice and simple system. For the membership and people online section, that would be kind of easy. It would just require a few stats taken from your members db. For the users online, you could use a script like this: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ You would just have to modify it a little bit to work for you. I hope it helps, xJedix
  21. I have the distributed.net client working on my computer. I figure I can allow it to use my cpu time when the computer is idle. The RC5 project is where it basically brute forces a password. It is trying to find the password for a 72-bit RSA Labs secret-key. It has nice rewards if your computer is the one to crack it. $10,000 which is split up into different sections. Check this project out at http://www.distributed.net/Main_Page I also use a client called boinc which I have the project called Seti@home running also. This project uses your cpu to look for alien signals from radio waves. This project is really cool and there are many people doing it. Along with boinc client, there are like 5 other projects you can do. Check it out Here: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/ xJedix
  22. I believe you could. I think the stats pages just look to see what months are in the folder, but I could be wrong. If you do this, you would have to be careful with what you delete. There are some files in the tmp folder that you need for the stats to work and for the current/future months.I don't know, but I personally would leave them alone. The stats really don't take much space up. I have been here for aprox. 5 months and my tmp folder is only 2 mb. I don't see a point in deleting the stats because for you I'm guessing it would only free up around 8-9 mb but if your really desperate for space, I guess you could try it. What you would want to do though is first back-up the files then delete them so that if it does mess up, you can simply put them back ;)Hope it helps, xJedix
  23. Since I have not heard of this program before, I am guessing "Navicat" is a program that runs on your computer and you want to remotely connect to the server's mysql database. If this is the case, then "localhost" would not work since it would be trying to connect to yourself.I am not quite sure, but I would try using the ip addresses that you use for domains. Before I would do that, I would try your site's address. That ususally works. In this case, where it asks for host.... I would put "sf.trap17.com" You would switch sf to what your site name is.If the program doesn't allow domains, and wants an ip.... Try the ip address for domains as I said before. They are: NS1.TRAP17.COM = 64.69.39.170 and NS2.TRAP17.COM = 64.69.35.177Hope it helps ;)xJedix
  24. Thats what I use. AVG is, in my opinion, the best anti-virus out there right now. There are pros and cons to each, but I like avg the best. It has nice features like Heuristic Analysis which scans for viruses that haven't been discovered yet. I have been using this anti-virus for the last couple years and haven't had any problems. I get a couple viruses now and then, and the AVG finds them and deletes em for me Great product, especially for being free. Curious to know how much better the paid one is for xJedix
  25. Here is a nice program that contains most needed codecs to play video files, like avi, mpeg.... etc... https://www.xvid.com/ It's very nice, I have been using these codecs for like 2-3 years now. Notice from mayank: Please dont sign off the posts. Use your signature instead.
