  1. Thanks for your pizza tips. I love pizza and am always trying to improve my pizza making techniques. Olive oil does crisp up the crust I have tried that before. People sometimes put corn meal in their dough to give it a crunchy texture, sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Depends on my mood. I'm still trying to perfect my thin crust pizza and "chewy-ish" dough. Sometimes my thin crust turns out great, thin and crisp enough to hold a light topping. Sometimes it flops, literally. I have never figured out how to make a chewier style dough so perfecting it might not be the best word.. One thing I really hate about making dough is rolling it into it's round shape. I have a lot of trouble with that, maybe I'm just not patient enough. I wish I could fling it around in the air, do people really do that? I have no idea!
  2. Since nobody else replied, it's probably safe to use. I read about it and it's used for motorcycles, atvs (smaller batteries). I imagine automotive chargers are more powerful and would damage the battery because of their high amp (15A?) charging. Trickle charging at 1A doesn't seem like it could hurt anything, but what do I know?
  3. I use black pepper on my food all the time, and I don't really feel it's had magical effects on my health. Maybe I'm not using enough
  4. We're around, but there hasn't been too much posting that interests me lately. I see one of your interests is cooking, I would be interested in reading whatever you have to say about that subject! I never get tired of reading about food.
  5. What Windows are you using ? XP? Vista? 7? Which game are you trying to get working, Sims 2, Sims 3 or both? I don't have much time to help right now, but I haven't given up. I have some ideas but check back later after I've had my mind enhancing beverages. Plus I have a friend who's been a Sims Addict for years - I will consult them
  6. You could try the "Hamachi" software. https://hamachi.en.softonic.com/ It makes a "Virtual Local Area Network" which means it tricks your computers into thinking you're all connected to one router instead of playing over internet. Everyone would have to install it I think. I'm not sure, maybe not. I have used it a couple times and it allowed me to play games with other people. It's not as convenient as just figuring out why it won't connect normally though but it might work.
  7. Make sure everyone else has their software firewall set up correctly to allow the game or temporarily disabled if they have one running (like ZoneAlarm, AntiVirus firewall or Windows Firewall). It's best just to disable it to see if it's causing a problem) Router might be blocking a connection too, if you can try hooking your internet directly to the computer (bypass router--this is just for troubleshooting not a permanent solution) but if this isn't possible there should be an option in your Router admin settings called "DMZ" (demilitarized zone (weird name!) or something which should allow any connection to pass through... a temporary troubleshooting step not a permanent solution.
  8. I envy you not the task before you... :)The good news is it seems to be possible to get it working, the bad news you're probably going to have to read a lot. Seems most sources recommend installing a so called 'ipw3945" module. There are lots of pages on Google, search for "Dell Inspiron 1520 Wireless Ubuntu" or "Dell Inspiron 1520 Wireless Linux"Here is one FAQ on your laptop, it's for an older Ubuntu but maybe the information is still useful? https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=501195Sorry I can't help more, but I feel my brain is about to explode from all the Linux reading. Think of it as a Quest or a Puzzle to solve... ooh, exciting :DI don't suppose you can just open up the Synaptic Add/Remove programs thing and type in ipw3945? Is it that easy? I'm not on Ubuntu right now
  9. It was a difficult choice but I voted for Mich's for a couple reasons. It just seems more like a finished product with the border and also for personal reasons the cat and dog remind me a little of my pets Deadmad7's is good too though, it was hard to choose!
  10. I think the best way is configure an FTP server on one or both computers. I can access my computer locally or remotely. It sure beats trying to use the 'samba file sharing' stuff in my opinion. If you only have basic needs (one folder, download only) you could try Opera browser's Unite feature --- it has a built in thing that lets you share files locally or remotely as well. It's a little easier to set up than an FTP server (not that an FTP server is that bad) but very limited. I prefer just using good 'ol FTP, works fine and is flexible. I can access my files anywhere with anything, ftp clients, web browsers, ms dos, linux console.. also makes backing up files between computers easy with the right ftp- compatible software. I can also add an account for people if I feel the need to share with others. Or you can make it available for local users only for maximum security. Both these options offer fastest local file sharing possible for your needs.
  11. O_O You might be surprised how normal your parents are. Parents are always crazy. I hope you feel better now!
  12. I'm looking for high quality Cowdung Cakes, could you recommend some good brands?

  13. I'm having trouble connecting my MIDI stuff to my computer. I've never used MIDI before. I have an E-mu MIDI-USB interface. It got decent reviews saying it worked latency free but it is the cheapest midi/usb interface I could find. I've tried two things (Yamaha PSR Keyboard, Yamaha Electronic Drums) and both have very bad latency. I've tried on two computers, one an older AMD ATHLON 3200 processor and one a newer Quad-Core. Both have similarily bad latency. I'll play a pre-recorded drum track on either the PSR keyboard or the Drums to test it and it will sound completely unrecognizable when played back live (or recorded) in FL Studio. I thought I was supposed to adjust the buffer but even at the maximum setting (in millisecond) it was unrecognizable. It seems to work ok (with acceptable latency) when playing slower stuff (playing a chord or a few notes on keyboard) but faster stuff like a full piano song or drum track is unintelligible, out of time noise.Any advice? Surely one of my computers if not both should be enough to handle recording a simple track?
  14. I don't know a solution but if you don't find an answer here remember to try at the ubuntuforums they are very helpful with Ubuntu issues.
  15. Yeah I like it! Is it a dog from 101 dalmatians?
  16. It's a common problem that I've had with just about every computer I ever had and might be easy to fix. Actually I posted about it recently (although my advice of banging on it wasn't entirely good advice). It's often just the main fan buzzing. You can open up the case and turn on the computer (don't touch anything though) and locate where the buzz is coming from. There's a good chance it's the big fan that blows air out the back because that's the thing that moves all the time. Then you basically just unplug the computer clean the dust off and spray some lubricant on it but make sure it isn't dripping everywhere. To be safe you could probably remove the fan with a few screws and clean it up on a table so you wouldn't drip lubricant everywhere but make sure you remember the whole static ruining computer parts stuff. Don't walk around on carpet with socks with your hands inside the case , hold on to the case etc I'm no expert. Just clean the dust off best as possible, put some lubricating oil of some kind (something you spray that fixes squeaks) and spin it around with your finger, let it sit for couple minutes. Then put it back in the way it was, and hope the buzz goes away. It might take an hour or so for the lubricant to work in and the buzz to go away completely. If you don't have lubricant, removing the dust _might_ be enough but lubricating it is best. Make sure it's not dripping wet (flinging oil everywhere) when you put it in too. It could also be that the computer is not put together tightly and the fan (again) while not buzzing itself might be causing another part of the computer, for example the case to buzz. Something could just be loose. I had this problem with a Gateway desktop, it buzzed like crazy even though it was brand new. I was too lazy to fix it, so I just put a heavy book on it -- and never took it off. The sound disappeared. Not much of a solution, but it's a solution I could live with. Your best bet is to just open the case and locate where the buzz is coming from by listening but not touching then proceed from there. It shouldn't be too hard. Be careful about touching everything though, I don't know how experienced you are with this kind of computer surgery.
  17. Hi Splendid welcome to the forum. Nice idea for a website. I have never met anyone from Serbia before nor do I know much about the country. I'm sure you will make a fine addition to the community. See you around!
  18. I was going to participate in the voting but nobody is making anything to vote for

  20. I've never used a router's wireless features or 'bridging' but I have both a Belkin and D-Link and you can connect them with an ethernet cable I have done it. The ISP cable goes into the D-Link, a cable connects one of the dlink ports to the Belkin's "ISP input" (not sure what it's called), and that's it. Not sure if that's what you're trying to do, my experience with routers is pretty limited.
  21. I have some drums and an interest in drumming but I haven't had much time to practice lately. I'm basically a beginner. I just play for a hobby along with other instruments I own. Baniboy, another member here is a pretty good drummer too and he taught me some things. So feel free to post some drum related stuff if you want. I wouldn't mind reading some lessons or tips.
  22. It is comparable, you can disable content blocking with a click of a button on the tab bar (or elsewhere) and mine auto updates in the background with the same lists (I think) as AdBlock+ daily even when opera is not running. I don't know if it's perfect, but it sure works fine for me I don't see any advertisements anymore. I can also disable content blocking on certain domains with a right click.
