Most Stable Windows Version What do you think was the most stable...
serverph replied to cragllo's topic in Operating Systems
single digit versions are cheesy by today's standards, but they are not that bloated yet then, and can be mostly said to be "most stable" too bad today's softwares are not all that backward-compatible with these versions anymore. lolz! i switch from win98se to win2000 via dualboot, in cases where i need apps which would not run in one version or the other. i never installed winxp on my drive (yup, the crap in xp stinks ), though i may yet to try this when i get to require a software which will not run in my installed win OS versions. but so far, i am happy to be sticking it out with win98se for most of the time. longhorn/vista soon? maybe after 10 years... lolz! -
there have been reports that the WGAs can be subverted with a short line of javascript or with a simple dll file... if that is as easy as it gets to get around these new security measures, microsoft has a real problem with their OS (but we already know that, don't we? )

tired of the same GMAIL look? GMAIL starting to melt your eyes with its antiseptic colors? i know it can be a bit harsh... but didn't you wish that you can change how your gmail looks when you log into it? surely you will want to try this out: SKIN GMAIL! some basics: * you would need a GMAIL account (obviously! if you still don't have one, PM me, and i will gladly send you a gmail invite. ) * you would need firefox since you would be using an extension file [uRIid extension]. if you don't know firefox, you're missing out on the best explorer alternative there is. (newbies, just google it). * you need to tinker with CSS to achieve the look you want. a downloadable sample is made available on the page below. * if you are going to overwrite anything on your system, make sure to make backups (just to remind you so you don't go blaming me when something goes wrong in your attempt to skin gmail. ) VIEW sample skinned GMAIL. now to the good stuff... Here is an ABRIDGED version: For a longer explanation, visit:http://blog.persistent.info/2004/10/skinning-gmail-with-custom-stylesheet.html post screenshots of your new skinned gmail! --- ADDED: * to date, FOUR gmail skins you may want to try or dissect: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ * It's Not Working - Help!: some tips and pointers http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

Lava-sledding more challenging than snowboarding
serverph replied to serverph's topic in General Discussion
ei biscuitrat, i won't argue with "einstein" if i were you. lolz! perhaps in his infinite wisdom, he failed to grasp the concepts of "irony" and "sarcasm" in both our posts. or maybe he just didn't read the article altogether, and jumped through hoops of conclusions already. -

finally, was able to complete the correct sequence for the RPG version. here is how it would look like, after all levels are maxed out: some things to expect in the game (for those who can't go as far as maxing out all levels in the process): * the tree is a bomb-bearing fruit tree. you will need a boat to get across it, and fetch the bomb-fruit. the bomb-fruit is used to clear the boulder blocking the stairway to the chest atop the mountain. * there is a house hidden among the clump of trees. you can secure a sword here. * the tower conceals an armor at the top-most floor. * in the final battle, you fight it out with the evil demon (the one you see on top of the sphere in the start of the game).

if you get tired of snowboarding, you may want to try lava-sledding for a change! Thrill ride http://archives.starbulletin.com/2005/07/24/news/story9.html i think it's nuts! but hey, it's a tradition for some, so i will just wish good luck to anybody who tries the sport. obviously you can't try this at home, unless you live in a volcano or some lava-spouting domicile ("domicile" is a word i would rarely use, but i'm practicing my vocabulary skills, ok?).

GROW game UPDATED! the GROW game is now in RPG form! more involved, and more animated! http://www.eyezmaze.com/grow/RPG/ i have yet to unlock the sequence, although there are less objects to "grow" in this RPG version (8 items) than in the older grow version (12 items). same objective as before: maximize the level of growth for each item. enjoy!

sweet! everyone can now enhance their personalized google page with RSS feeds! personalize your own google page here: https://www.google.com/ig then add your own choices of RSS content by clicking the "Add Content" on the upper left hand corner. Go to 'Create a Section', then type in the RSS feed you want to include in your personalized google page (you know, they usually have these in blogs, and other content websites like BBC, etc. just google for RSS for more info ). Alternatively, you can simply search for a topic or publication to add. there are other built-in feeds you can add, so just add any which fits you. google rules!

look at these images carefully: are they REAL or FAKE? whew! can you believe these are just image renders, and not actual photos? these are just scaled-down screenshots for Project Gotham Racing 3 (from Bizarre Creations) for the XBOX360! they would look more realistic in the actual game itself, with the details in higher resolutions! wow! http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/2005/07/15/pgr3_textures/1 here are some more screenshots with the wireframe model composites, to illustrate the detailed realistic renders of a "typical" building in PGR3. http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/2005/07/01/pgr3_screenshots/1 doesn't that make you drool for the upcoming game? and how about the cars? how "realistic" would they look? check some screenshots here: http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/2005/06/13/pgr3_website/1 visit the official PGR3 website for more updates http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

i just turned one year with Xisto free hosting myself, i was going to post that one... it's the longest and best hosting i ever had. there were hiccups along the way to one year, but hey, those "birth pains" are worth it. bigger forum, bigger membership, bigger servers, bigger features... that's what we are enjoying right now. more power to opaque, and all members of Xisto! and more years ahead for all of us!

Argh, Choose Please.. between 4 possible layouts -_-
serverph replied to HmmZ's topic in Websites and Web Designing
design is better than the others. i just don't see the point of having the scrollbar within your page. seems pointless... it's just annoying for me. the browser scroller is enough. before putting your pages up LIVE, maybe you ought to do some spellchecking. "more then passion" doesn't sound professional nor grammatically-correct, belying the "professional" character your site would want to project. also "revisioning"... maybe you mean "revising". proofread content some more. i saw more textual errors but you will easily find them. footer text is quite unreadable at its current size. viewing your page at your recommended resolution (1024x768) makes me squint to read it fully. what more at higher resolutions. sidenote: the text regarding "clicking" in your page is most likely a violation of your ad provider's TOS (that may get you kicked off their program)... just a reminder. -
mysql is apparently down at the moment. we just all have to patiently wait for mysql to get back online. this happens every once in a while, so don't panic.

Div Layout Problems table in div not shrinking
serverph replied to fffanatics's topic in Programming
edited topic to reflect description.... you can use the preview button next time, ffanatics. and use the report button for editorial amendments you want for your original post if there are any corrections. -
the operative word is "CAN" kill. as opposed to the past tense you used, the concerned programmer in the article is still alive and kicking, and fighting out the current system governing copyright. and it's not the lack of available drugs if you read the article. IT IS available (he bought it already), but restricted by copyright for entry the the U.S. to be used by the person involved. in any case, i fairly understand the 'key' and the 'cause' concepts you presented, and they are tightly tied together. the 'key' shouldn't be restrictive in cases of life and death. a 'key' is tantamount to being the 'cause' itself in such cases if it hinders the right to life of a person.

Multiple Explosions Rock London Blasts in London
serverph replied to cse-icons's topic in General Discussion
sad, really sad news... hope they get the culprits fast, and bring justice to the victims. my sympathies to the families of those injured and who lost their loved ones in this tragedy. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ link and screenshot of the website that has claims by Al-Qaeda for responsibility in the london attack. it also says that Italy and Denmark are next. but the thing is, it can happen next anywhere, so let us all be extra careful and extra vigilant. be safe, everyone. more pics from personal contributions here: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ ADDED: Wikipedia responds to London bombings with good information https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7_July_2005_London_bombings -

Argh, Choose Please.. between 4 possible layouts -_-
serverph replied to HmmZ's topic in Websites and Web Designing
i would go for layout #1... but just the header and footer part. the midsection of the page needs some tweaking. the right column text flows over the "imagined" margin set by the header and footer. maybe splice the header and footer better and fix how the columns are coded. also the menu part is a bit small. the "creations" written on the header is also a bit unreadable.i'm using firefox, at 1024x768 while testing your layouts. -
http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ i suppose it's hightime we recognize alternative sources of fuel, even if it's from pig manure. oil prices just keep getting higher and higher every single day, and politics around the world is not helping either. can they offer the technology as "open source" for other countries to use? pigs (and the manure that they produce) are abundant in any country, right?
