  1. GOOD NEWS FOR GOLDENEYE for N64 LOVERS! can you imagine this classic nintendo 64 game running in half-life 2's powerful source engine? you wouldn't have to wait for long. a total conversion mod is in the works, which updates the game for today's graphics! widely similar to the original, but we can expect some modern tweaks to explore the advanced lighting and shadowing features of the half-life 2 engine. mod version completion status as of August 18, 2005: 45% To Release, 85% To Alpha so as not to excite you too much on your seats as you read this, you better head on to: http://www.hugedomains.com/domain_profile.cfm?d=goldeneyesource&e=com do i hear ooohhhs and aaahhhs from Xisto members?
  2. LINUX NEWBIE ADMINISTRATOR GUIDE http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ covers all the basics, for those new to linux. hope it can be useful for Xisto members. you may choose to read it online, or download the guide in several formats available. non-native english readers may also get the translated versions of the guide: polish, hebrew, portuguese, french, russian, and chinese.
  3. there's this RED CROSS "dog ears" (like dog ear flaps, usually found at a corner of a website) i found which you can find useful. http://www.brianalvey.com/news/2005/09/04/adding-the-red-cross/ they are more easily recognizable (and not yet prone to "ad-blindness" as experienced by most internet users). worth a try.
  4. Google Pizza Program: The study break you've been searching for. this doesn't seem like a hoax or an april fool's joke for me (it's september! ). check the site for contact email on how to apply as a Google Pizza Ambassador.https://www.google.com/jobs/studentsg.html a list of the represented universities can be found here: https://www.google.com/jobs/studentsg2.html if you qualify for the program, try it! and if you become a google pizza ambassador, then send Xisto staff some of the google goodies you can spare. (you keep the pizza it may get moldy over at the post office if it takes too long to reach us )
  5. i dunno exactly how that article affects the use of the libgmailer which is primarily used by evilguru for this gmail hosting project. but i noticed the date of that article to be january of 2005, and yet this project is still working as of this date, at least from the tests made by some of us here. see how this test gif file still works, as hosted from a gmail account. http://www.dcrez.co.uk/create/gmail/gmail.php?q=test_dog thanks for the article anyway, maybe evilguru will take that in consideration, if needed.
  6. lolz! noticed that one too it's even in bold letters. maybe they just got overexcited with the car's concept and forgot to edit their pages properly. still, it's funny.
  7. /legacy the minicat car runs on compressed air. does this mean unlimited fuel for everyone? and it is said that apart from being ecology-friendly, the minicat also is lighter and more silent than the traditional cars of today. i just hope the design of the minicats are more innovative. check the link, and tell us what you think.
  8. any new updates, evilguru? some features i'd like to see are support for mpeg files, as well as support for multiple attached files for access on a single gmail message. to explain that last feature, you see, i have several attachments (more than one on a single gmail message) which gets sent my way which i want to be made accessible via download. will there be a way to work around gmail on this using the codes you are developing? keep us constantly posted. and hope we can visit your sourceforge account on this project soon!
  9. these would be supported in windows servers. but i'm afraid ms access databases are not supported in Xisto servers. you may want to try out MYSQL instead.
  10. i bet the military has better stuff than these. you were in the military, Saint_Michael, weren't you? maybe only the star generals get to see the more techy maps.
  11. well, i do. since i use google search i lot, i find it comforting to know that there is a better and faster way to search things i want to find, without too much time spent trawling over hundreds and thousands of pages. it's a take-it-or-leave-it proposition. it's not forced on anybody. and if someone is contented with the search results in its default state, without using the advanced features of the google search, then so be it. i'm just here sharing what i find to be useful. garbage to some, but a goldmine to many.
  12. still in beta, but it looks promising. we've been hearing about some IM by google before, and here it is. users must have a GMAIL account to use it. but since almost everyone has gmail already, it won't be a problem building your contacts with the Google Talk IM. only thing is, it would require a much later version of windows: XP and 2000 only. mac and linux connectivity is available though using other IM clients. download Google Talk here: https://www.google.com/hangouts/
  13. perhaps you can setup a rolling tripod (camera tripod with wheels). then roll that across the street, clicking pics along the way, in calculated even distances.
  14. i wish i could help, but i've never used a modified phpbb like phpbbfm before. just the old plain phpbb. the best way though is to check the admin control panel for a mod activation/deactivation if there is any. otherwise you may have to look into the code itself, to remove the mod.
  15. best investment? wait for new and exciting comic books with a potentially huge following to come out, buy a bunch of first edition copies, seal them in anti-aging packets, then wait for 50 years or so, then sell them in mint condition. you can earn millions!
  16. it's not a downloadable ISO, it's something you create yourself, with your own licensed version of windows. so nothing illegal there i suppose, if it's not for distribution, and just for personal use. i will dig through my stuff, i did have that printout of instructions before in doing that with win98. but i didn't have the time to do it. makes me regret not doing it when i recently did a complete reinstall of my windows.
  17. perhaps you've been running your system for a VERY long time already, playing with that game. sometimes they do just that, and a little computer rest will do the trick. when it does not work for me after that, then that is when i try to deconstruct my system and put them back together again to pinpoint what the problem is.
  18. MS-DOS? lolz! i think it fits in one diskette a long-time ago. what i'm interested in knowing is how small can one fit a working version of a windows version (w98/2k/me/xp) in a credit card sized CD. heard there is a version of it in win98 running under 50MB. will try to search that sometime.
  19. if the member does not learn his/her lessons from the warnings given, and still continue to repeat the same mistakes after warning was handed down, there is really no point in decreasing them at all. now, if a member is bent on reforming his/her ways, then that's the time a warning reduction can be even considered.
  20. here's the thread on the subject. http://forums.xisto.com/topic/22104-google-map-catches-ufo-whatever-it-is-it-is-on-google-map-p/ closing this one. just follow the thread above for further discussion if anybody is interested. this is to reduce multiple threads on the same topic.
  21. lolz@bizkie! i had a similar experience with bikes, when i flew over the handle after braking hard, and landed with my face on concrete. i dunno what happened next, but i got a nasty reminder of the incident: a wound on my upper lip. the thing is, when it started to heal, i looked like a mini-hitler (dang!) with a trimmed mustache on the upper lip. hahahha and as a lasting reminder, school was about to end that period, and time for class pictures. i still have that class picture as a mini-hitler, but i won't be showing anybody -- most especially on the internet!
  22. beware guys. this worm has already mutated and has already sparked a "WORM WAR". several of it's variants have this uncanny and welcome ability to track and destroy the original zotob worm. BUT after doing that, it just replaces its own variant to the system and basically doing the same thing that zotob does. hacker groups obviously are pitting their own worm variants against each other, and who knows what other mishaps are inserted in their codes to do more damage. it has affected BIG companies already, and continuously spreading... unless your system is protected properly. but then again, as the worm war has already begun, it is not reassuring to even have updated AV running in your system. *sighs*
  23. for using google adsense on your site, you won't be needing a credit card. but you would need one if you intend on running your advertising campaign to appear in any of the adwords/adsense being displayed in millions of pages. advertising your campaign would cost you a bit, but you can control how you spend your advertising budget.
  24. previously posted/discussed here already: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/23240-great-site-ranking-in-google-the-secrets-out/ closing this thread. follow above link to continue discussion for those interested.
  25. this should prove useful for this topic **FRESH ARTICLE**: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/section/technology?from=switched it discusses some very useful tips for the desired job at hand. ever heard of the giant in effects company, "Industrial Light & Magic", or more commonly known as "ILM"? you should see their looonng-list of filmography which they dipped their hands into doing the special effects. the most notable and most recognizable movie in the list is of course the star wars series. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ well, this guy (from the first link above) says he can show you how to create your own ILM for (almost) nothing! for the next george lucas' out there, here's your chance to read and learn. all-basics are covered, like the recommended machines (he says get at least 3 boxes... you will know why when you read the blog entry ). and of course, the list of cross-platform apps you be will needing for creating your masterpiece. report back on this thread what you come up with with all these stuff.
