  1. if there is a "sicko of the year" award, that guy can win it easily. gross.
  2. lolz! me, on the other hand, thought this thread was something of a natural phenomena (solar or lunar) which will occur come 2006.
  3. nothing much you haven't seen before... just that it's a flash representation of Google Maps and MSN Virtual Earth -- but all on one page. https://neave.com/ what i like is the ease of use to switch from google maps to msn virtual earth, and vice versa, with just a click of a button.
  4. Very fun little flash game. Great way to spend a few moments when you are trying to not accomplish anything! Shoot baskets in a virtual office with balls of paper. Watch out for the fan speed settings. Enjoy. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  5. only hosting is provided free at Xisto along with a Xisto subdomain, or you can have the option to use a top-level domain that you own to point to your hosting space here. no free domains here.
  6. all of a sudden, you see, my loyal hard drive decided to retire about a week ago. i had to buy a new hard drive to replace it, and resume my computer tasks. my old drive is just lying around in my room after that, and i'm wondering how to at least get ahold of my files there (at least the most recent ones -- mostly downloads -- which i failed to backup before it decided to die down on me), if it's still possible. my old harddrive can't be detected in the bios, and it makes this clicking noise on boot up. i remember this hard drive freezer trick i read before, but i'm wary to try it on my own. even if i can chalk it up to experience, i'm still scared on what will happen if i do. anybody among you tried this freezer trick? i want to have first-hand info from my peers in this forum, and not just those posted in some other sites claiming it does work. see, there is one who tried the trick and here are images of his attempt: funny images, you see? obviously, that guy wasn't doing it right. what's your experience?
  7. Mob scene, several hurt in rush for cheap laptops http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ when the gates opened at 7 a.m., chaos broke out. see the video of what went down. was the price of the ibook even worth the trouble, for the sellers and the buyers, after all these? what if those hurt in the stampede pressed charges, will the $50,000 total sales cover for the payouts? they should have sent those up for auction at ebay. perhaps they could have turned up more profit for the ibooks - minus the hassles that ensued.
  8. it's interesting what one can do with patience, time and fifteen million ice cream sticks. http://ww2.seaheartship.com/ don't frown at it. it's bound to sail across the atlantic as well (hope it stays afloat all the time)! if you were captain rob, what else would you do with 15 million ice cream sticks?
  9. okay... back to the topic, or this will be closed, or all unrelated posts removed.
  10. same sentiments here (on the sickness part). but it is only because i am on dialup and i can't wait for the sigs to load to appreciate them at all. that is why i haven't reacted/replied to any of the sig threads. -_-a separate server with a separate domain for the sigcraze is a good idea. oh, there is my domain name suggestion: SIGCRAZE
  11. basically, yes. login to your cpanel. then go to the fantastico page (near the bottom part, under PREINSTALLED SCRIPTS). scroll down the ECOMMERCE section, click on OS COMMERCE. you will get to the installation page, click the NEW INSTALLATION link. on the next page, you will need to type settings you want for oscommerce, like the directory name, etc. fill it up accordingly (remember the details you set here, since you may need it, most especially the ADMIN ACESS DATA. write details for archiving purposes and for easy reference later.). after that, click INSTALL OS COMMERCE. that should do it, and you can test out the script on your site.
  12. looks like the problem has been resolved already on your end. closing topic.
  13. as i see it, you are not yet classified as a HOSTED member. you're still under "Group: Members". although your hosting application has been approved already (http://forums.xisto.com/topic/24783-free-web-hosting-dor-free-website-dortrap17com/), are you sure you have activated your hosting already? check private message sent to you by an admin for the instructions (which gets sent to member after getting hosting approved). after following that, your profile will change to "Group: [HOSTED]", and you can do what you need to do with your site.
  14. 1. login as admin2. go to the admin control panel 3. once inside CP, click MANAGEMENT under USER ADMIN. (it's in the bottom part of the left frame menu). 4. type in username of forum member you want to add as moderator, then click "look up user". 5. you will be presented with the user profile of the member. scroll down till you reach the "special admin-only fields". 6. select "rank title" you want to give that user (since you want that user to be moderator, select MODERATOR). 7. click "submit" and you're done. do this within IE, since firefox has some issues (i don't know if it has been resolved already in recent updates) with passwords in phpbb. in firefox before, password tends to be reset for the user you are trying to edit. just to be on the safe side, use IE for this. otherwise, the user you just gave moderator status won't be able to login with his old password since it has been reset.
  15. check my reply in this thread (in your reply post of the same issue): http://forums.xisto.com/topic/25836-which-shopping-basket-program-gallery-to-use-needing-advice-on-which-to-choose/ there are also two other ecommerce scripts ready for autoinstall in the cpanel (apart from oscommerce): 1. CubeCart and 2. Zen Cart i am just not sure if they have the feature you desire. when you get hosted here, perhaps you can try to install them and test them, but my best bet is, oscommerce can deal with your requirement. oscommerce is widely used and most likely, this same functionality you want has been addressed by the product itself. but when not, there could be several plugins/modules you can add to oscommerce to get your desired function. good luck!
  16. on oscommerce: if you're asking if it would run on Xisto, yes it would. there's even an auto-installation option in cpanel when you get hosted here so you can just point and click, and can have your oscommerce site setup in minutes. here are some of oscommerce's features: http://www.oscommerce.com/Products check out the product functionality part, it says "Control if out of stock products can still be shown and are available for purchase". i'm not really sure how it works, but possibly that can handle your inventory requirement. if not, there could be plugins somewhere for oscommerce with the same functionality. you just need to dig it online. my suggestion: try to reach minimum hosting credits for hosting, apply/request for hosting approval, get hosted at Xisto, and try out oscommerce in Xisto servers.
  17. update: the site is back up, but for how long this time, that is the BIG question mark. apparently the site has gained the attention of the fedex lawyers who wanted to shut the site down, so it was down for weeks. here's a WIRED article on the brouhaha the lawyers raised: Furniture Causes FedEx Fits http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  18. zen cart FAQs:http://www.zen-cart.com/ zen cart support forum (they can help you better if no one can here): http://www.zen-cart.com/forum.php why is your shopping cart installed OUTSIDE of your domain anyway? perhaps you can ask the guy who set up your zen cart to install it WITHIN your domain of choice, then customize from there. wouldn't that be possible? that may be your best option since it's already a working ecommerce section (albeit on a different domain). and as a further suggestion, your site would need a "more credible" design if your intent is selling your products online. there may be takers from Xisto to redesign your site, just ask them to PM you directly to work out the details. good luck!
  19. check out this google map with lots of airplanes parked: google.ca/maps/preview?q=air+force+bas0&start=0&hl=en&source=newuser-ws can you "guesstimate" (a combination of guess and estimate ) how many of these parked planes are there? zoom out a bit, or pan across the adjoining spaces to count some more.
  20. moving to appropriate section. topic resolved. closing topic.
  21. how long has it been since you had that domain? perhaps it was previously owned by a spammer before, and he used it for mass mailing/spam purposes. and then it expired, and you acquired it... and all search results you see in search engines of this email address with your domain are those of the previous owner's spam attempts. or it could be that your site is so popular that your domain gets spoofed a lot. or maybe you have an enemy who is an accomplished spammer who does it out of spite spoofing emails with your domain in it. unlikely, but it's all plausible. as for legal repercussions, authorities would trace back all email headers to the sender, and unless it originates from you and traced back to you, you will have no problem with that (i think). the only way to resolve it, i guess, is to drop that domain, register a new one, and hope against all odds that it won't happen again.
  22. i don't see ads on your site either. you successfully removed them? tested your site on firefox and IE. maybe you can post a screenshot if you are still experiencing it, but it is definitely not an ad imposed by Xisto since it is not a requirement to get hosted here. -_-btw, viewing your source, it seems to have come from chrislabs net. maybe it's his ads?
  23. i suppose your "INSIDE the website" concern can be solved by changing the template of a shopping cart to your liking, and working your whole site around it. i guess this would work even with zen cart. just check with their support team. on oscommerce: here is their default sample catalog. http://www.oscommerce.com/osCommerce22ms2/ just check it out if it would suit your need. there are several free oscommerce templates out there you can use (just google it), or you can create your own.
  24. they do pay. the thing is, not every site which hosts google adsense will earn the same. it still depends on how successful adsense is impressed on your site visitors, how successful the clickthroughs are, and how long before you reach their minimum payout. then you get paid your due. but when google determines "cheating" (clicking your own adsense ads is a BIG NO-NO) has been resorted to to reach payout, they can disable your adsense account and earnings will be forfeited... needless to say, avoid cheating at all - even ONCE (those who dared lost big time)
  25. i'd prefer a mac... but i'm stuck with windows. attention: mac donations are gratefully accepted! (in case anybody here loathes their macs)
