Can Wordpress Split Too Long Pages?
serverph replied to realthor's topic in Websites and Web Designing
this is from wordpress' readme file: as for category settings for blog posts via email, you need to set up the default category in wordpress where you want your email posts to end. this you need to customize via admin page initially. then email submissions will be later on categorized to your default category. -
bandwidth resets every start of a new month as plenoptic said. if your site consumes bandwidth allotment before the end of the month, it gets a "bandwidth exceeded" error which renders your site inaccessible until the time the start of the next month.

Can My Forum And Website Use The Same Profiles?
serverph replied to kvarnerexpress's topic in Programming
why don't you work the other way around? you can choose a forum (like phpbb) and use the member login profile of the forum to give access to your "rate-em" page. since your "rate-em" page is customized to your specs, just tweaking with its programming to access the forum profile would be easier, i suppose. -
Do You Believe In God Is God really there ? Your opinions?

sometimes, you must assert yourself more to be heard. have a one-on-one talk with that guy, and explain to him the chain of command in your organization... that as a co-director, you are to oversee people and your team and that includes him. and that anything and everything should pass through you, unless unavoidable (like absence, etc.), so as not to disrupt the flow of order. if he challenges your authority over him, then it is about time you make your own complaint to the one in charge over you as director (i suppose in your case, your network head). maybe he'll have a change of heart, and follow the chain of command, after he hears a complaint about him instead. good luck!

the webdev extension works great. i use that too and if you are into adsense, you can use the adsense notifier. makes it easy to be advised of your adsense earnings as long as you have firefox open and browsing, and it relieves you of constantly logging into your adsense account to check on it (aren't we all obssessive-compulsive sometimes? ). http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

which kind of fully-modded phpbb are you using? i don't suppose there's much difference from a regular phpbb theme installation. but first things first, you must have a phpbb template to install first. upload that on its appropriate folder in your hosting space, then access your modded phpbb admin control panel to install and activate your new theme. if you're still experiencing trouble, post what kind of phpbb mod you are using. maybe others here have previous experience working on it who can help further. and maybe include a screenshot of your modded phpbb admin control panel, so we can visualize what you may be missing to install your new theme. from there, we can try to guide you.

it should take a while for DNS propagation to access your Xisto hosting using your own domain (assuming of course you correctly pointed your domain to Xisto servers). but you can access your hosting cpanel via IP address in the meantime. check out admin BuffaloHelp's reply to your hosting problem again:http://forums.xisto.com/topic/31129-hosting-on-trap-problem-support/= if you're still having problems accessing your cpanel via IP, make it known to Xisto admins/mods again via your original post above.

why look further? are you not going to get your hosting from Xisto.com? you should get hosted here, since you're already a member! with that said, you can then just install a forum of choice via cpanel on your Xisto hosting space, and just remain active in the Xisto forums to maintain your hosting credits so your hosting doesn't get suspended. and aside from forums, you can have vast control over what other features you want in your hosting: like chatrooms, blogs, galleries, etc. Xisto offers you that, with no ads attached to your hosting. good luck!

well, it's a "unique" ongoing web war... so i'm posting it here to solicit your thoughts. once upon a time, there were two websites: itchysquirrel and lastofthedotcoms. the latter admired the former and considered it a "funny" site, so it asked the former for a link exchange. yup, "add our site link on your site, we add yours" kind of deal. it went well for a while, until it was later discovered by the latter that the former "reneged" on the deal, and removed without prior notice the link of the latter on their site. as it turned out, the former apparently find the latter's site (which makes wacky cartoons, by the way), to be not worth the link from the former's site because, it was somehow not attracting enough visitors who can in turn click back on their site. add to that that the former found the latter's site as rubbish. the latter found this explanation and action less than pleasant... and BATTLE PLANS were drawn. here's the fun part: both sites catalogued their barrage of exchanges. and here is the result of the ongoing web war the two sites are involved in. - from itchysquirrel's point of view: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ - from lastofthedotcom's point of view: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ see how they managed to pull off what they are fighting about in the first place: they had linked eventually to each other's web sites to support their individual causes. ironic, isn't it? but what's more interesting is the way they "battle it out" with each other, with a BATTLE of GIFs. visit the sites above, if you haven't clicked yet. it's also interactive, at least on itchysquirrel's side, since that site solicits contributions from readers on his attempt to up the ante against lastofthedotcoms. now, your thoughts. who are you siding with? there are a bundle of issues involved here. link exchange, creativity, interactivity, copyright, etc. take your pick, or make one up! this should bring them more traffic and hopefully not bog down their servers. but it may well be good, and i'm making this in an attempt that they stop this "web war" eventually (like wishing for world peace). heheheü

Would You Reccomend Adsence? for my situation?
serverph replied to psychiccyberfreak's topic in Search Engines
it wouldn't hurt if you get approved for adsense and you used it for your site. however, adsense is not entirely about the quantity of hits on your website. rather, it will only yield you revenues if those adsense ads are clicked by others (other than you of course, which could get you in trouble if you did. ). hits help, never undestimate hits altogether. but clicks are what matters more, which translates to income for you. -

Will We Be Reimbursed The Credits Lost? While t17 has been down...
serverph replied to Cerb's topic in Web Hosting Support
just rack up some useful/relevant posts to increase your credits now. that would not be difficult. moreover, even if Xisto forums was down, i think it hardly affected hosted member sites since hosted member sites are up and running altogether. saying that, your hosting credits already served its purpose. -
check your database. changing subdomain name affects the database name given to your old forum, so it might be good to check your forum settings to reflect the database changes. or if your old forum is not populated with members and posts yet, you can just delete your old forum and recreate a new one.

there's always FDISK (MS-DOS-based partitioning utility).... BUT use it with caution, and only with a CLEAN/NEW harddrive. otherwise, you are likely to lose any data you currently have if you use FDISK and you don't know what you are doing. just be forewarned, partitioning is a risky business. for more info/documentation/tutorial: http://fdisk.radified.com/

you should advise your school administrators about that, just to be on the safe side. PCs in a network environment are particularly prone to such problems. let them figure out what's really wrong.

How Do I Make A (video) File Smaller?
serverph replied to CroSpartacus's topic in Web Hosting Support
you can always snip your main file into smaller parts, like 50MB files each (or as much as your host would allow), so that those who want to access your video will just have to download ALL the individual files and then re-join them together after downloading all parts. this can usually be achieved with WINRAR, and i'm pretty sure there are other compression applications (freeware, shareware, commercial) which can do the same. -
"A records" are custom DNS records, along with "MX records", needed to allow further customization of your domain services. MX record is short for mail exchange record, an entry in a domain name database that identifies the mail server that is responsible for handling emails for that domain name. The A record, also called the "address record", is the most important part of the DNS record. It is used to link your domain to its corresponding IP Address. Each domain has its own DNS records, and there are other types of DNS records like CNAME, PTR, NS, etc. but you can't usually manage them directly from the control panel. for more computer jargons: http://www.computerhope.com/jargon.htm

hmmnn... how about a "grungy" look to your logo? something edgy, and lots of color contrasts, so as to project the "radical" ethos of experimental filmmaking. some logo elements i have in mind, apart from the camera you already have, are a spool of film, silhouettes of a man and a woman (standing back to back, as subject matters), and laurel leaves (such as the one in the united nations logo, to convey an impression of an Oscar-award worthy film production). try these ideas a bit, with some plus and minus, if you want.
