  1. Yes, as I am using a merchant account now, I'm charged a small fee every time money is sent to my account. I don't believe I've ever been charged when I've paid money to someone else using paypal though. I'm not positive on this though, but I'm kind of thinking that I've only been charged when money goes into my account. I think I'm also charged a bit when I move the money from paypal into my bank account too.I know before I changed my account from regular to merchant that I didn't used to get charged anything, but there was limitations placed on my account.Edit: I was also thinking that if you wanted to just add an extra dollar to your xisto account, then it shouldn't be all that hard. Just come over here and make some quality posts and you'll have that dollar added to your account in no time. Plus, you won't have to pay a cent for it As for having people send you a dollar for donations, that must be possible somehow for your own site, because I've had people donate smaller amounts to mine on occasion.
  2. Ooh very nice car! It's always nice to see that some people are actually able to buy their dream car. Way to go and have fun with it
  3. Ah hah... so at 500 posts you get the "privilege" to make a custom message. It's all suddenly falling into place here Thanks for letting me know. Now I just have to come up with something really cool to say there XD
  4. Well this was an interesting thread to read. It's funny seeing so many familiar faces so to speak mentioning how hard it would be to get to a certain number of posts. From since they've written that to today, many of the people have gone well beyond that number they spoke of. It's funny how fast the posts can start to add up in these forums. I never would have guessed that I'd posted this much, but hey, when you've got a forum filled with lots of great things to talk about, then I suppose it's not that hard to reach crazy numbers after all. And by crazy, I shouldn't be one to talk since there are so many more people with more posts than I have.I think it would be cool to have more rankings though for the people that have gone well past 200 posts... then again, since this is sort of an old thread, maybe those numbers don't mean too much anymore. I'd be curious to see an updated list of the rankings.Edit: They must have changed it though since it says I'm a privileged member next to my name, and I'm at 600+ posts. Not sure where that ranking starts though.
  5. I never thought about it that way, but it's true... why not spend the extra money on a better looking gravestone instead of the coffin? Since it is the only thing that would be seen after the fact, that would definitely make more sense. Still, with the idea that the coffin is the final resting place of a person's body after they've passed away, that's why I think people spend all the extra money so that it's nice. I couldn't imagine spending less on a coffin, because I would feel somehow that I didn't honour the dead enough to give them the best. I also couldn't imagine the kind of hurt that it would bring to family members that would have to see someone they loved lying in a cheap wooden box during the viewing. It would seem sad that the person would have to spend the rest of their un-life in such a box.I'm guessing it's the sentimental fools such as myself that keep the coffin business the money-maker that is has become.
  6. Hmm, I'm in Canada too - Ontario here - and we've had snow in my city already. Though it seemed a bit early, I do recall other times when I'd gone trick-or-treating in the snow. Mind you, I lived a bit more north back then, so that could have been why. It was probably about three of four days ago that it snowed here though. Some places nearby got snow yesterday too, but it never came to my city lol...Anyway, I don't recall the first time I saw snow. I'm guessing I was very young, seeing as it has snowed here every year for my entire life. I do remember playing in the snow a lot more while I was growing up though. Now I just think that it's too cold and should go away. If it wasn't so wet and cold, I wouldn't mind it so much My sister still goes out and makes a snowman in our driveway most years though, so maybe I'll help her out one of these times. The most fun I usually get from snow now a days is shoveling it
  7. So, where is this notes section? I can't seem to find it when I'm going through the order process. Is there some place where I can make the note of my cpanel username and password so that my account is switched over properly?
  8. Thanks for updating these instructions... now I'm going to have a much easier time when I do start to switch over my site. I'm much less confused now than I was before, which is a good thing
  9. I'm not really sure of the answers, and I'm just giving it a really big guess here, so don't quote me on this or anything, but...1. I always thought that the lapped cars are given the inside lane following a caution so that they can have a chance to race hard to earn their lap back. If they had to start at the back of the field in the position they were currently running in, it would be next to impossible to pass the leaders to get back on 2. Now, sometimes it seems like a real pain having all these lapped cars getting in the way of the leaders. This is because they can add extra cars that need to be passed for those up front, but they do revert back to single file restarts when there is less than 10 to go, so during those crucial laps, those lapped cars aren't going to be starting from there and "getting in the way" so to speak. As for the Daytona Week... Well, the NASCAR portion of that, the Daytona 500, is the end of Speedweeks. Speedweeks is (I believe) three or four weeks long and starts off with the running of the Rolex 24 hours of Daytona - the first stop on the Grand-Am Rolex Series schedule. Since the regular drivers in this series usually take on an extra driver or two during this long race, it is common to see other big name drivers from other racing series' also joining in for this race. This typically includes ALMS, IRL, NASCAR, etc drivers.I'm not sure how they come up with the date that kicks off Speedweeks, but the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona always falls on either the last weekend of January or the first weekend of February. I'm not sure how they decide which to use but, as for the Daytona 500, I'm pretty sure that it's always on the third Sunday of February.
  10. Wow, yea, hopefully when things like this happen it does bring about better products (or at least better working products) in the future. Sometimes it takes a big thing like this for companies to slow down a bit and actually care about what they are creating again. Makes you wonder why they thought they would get away with it though. For companies that large, it's hardly worth trying to make a few extra bucks if it's just going to ruin your reputation.
  11. A few questions I've got after reading the rest of this thread... Sorry if they don't make sense though, I'm having trouble trying to figure out just how to word these questions lol.1) Is there something that I need to do so that my free hosting will continue? I've set up the new account, and saw the money transferred in there, and I know I need to post on the forums, but is there something that I'm going to need to do to get myCENTs to transfer into hosting time for my free Xisto site?2) How do I know "how many days" I have left on my free hosting? Will it work like the credits at all, in that it will gradually go down? Or will it be like - save enough myCENTs to buy the free hosting package, and then slowly build up CENTs again until you need to renew the free package one year later?3) It also says that we can use our CENTs to purchase different things from Xisto - Web Hosting... does that mean we will still be able to use the .trap17 subdomain? And if so... can we use the money to buy more space or bandwidth on the subdomain? Or are we still limited to the normal amount, and if we want an upgrade, we'll need to buy a whole other package?I'm just curious about this and trying to figure out just what all is new here. Maybe I'm running on information overload lol... I've been reading so many posts on here tonight I still like the idea though, and can't wait to see how it plays out :)Edit: Okay, posts were added as I was typing... so I've figured out #2 now Thanks for clarifying!
  12. I don't know if it was before Google existed, because I haven't been online for all that long (maybe 10 years myself... I'm not really sure.) But I know that I started out using Yahoo... Even had the email account with them. But that was while I was learning how to use the computer during the limited time were were online in computer class in high school. Sometime after I got the internet at home was when I found out about Google. Now I do most of my stuff with Google, including the email and several other features that they allow for. I just like it so much better
  13. Sounds like you've added some really great feature to have. I just got the email today saying that my new account is up and running... so I wanted to come here and check it out. I'll have to spend more time later figuring it all out though, because I'm about to leave for the weekend in just a little while. But before I do, I just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to always make this place better! That's why I love being here so much Great service that gets better and better! You rock
  14. Heh... I'm glad you made a post for this or I would have missed it I'm sure... but it makes me happy that I logged on today though. Anyway, Happy Birthday SM - from me as well Without you, this place just wouldn't be the same! Hope you have a great day

    Sup?

Hello and welcome to the forums... since it seems that everything has been covered by the other people that have posted here, I won't bore you with more of what you already can find. Just leave you with a quick hello :lol:Hope to see you around here!
  16. I think that it depends on a lot of factors, and one of the major ones would obviously be traffic. I think the more traffic that a site gets, the more money that it can make off advertising. But if it's a site that doesn't have many relevant ads (because people aren't buying ads with your keywords) then I think the revenues would be lower still, because less people would click on the ads if they didn't relate to what they are looking for on your site.I've never had a site that was big enough to pull in that much a month, but I'm definitely sure that it is possible though, because there are people out there earning more than that. I'm just not sure about how many hits a person would need to make it there. There is also more money to be made though from testing your adsense ads. If you try new things and find something that works best, it can increase the dollars that you make by quite a bit.
  17. Good to see you figured it out! So so cute! I wouldn't have been much help anyway, because I don't really know much about dog breeds and what they look like XD
  18. Wow... way way way too much time eats away at my computer. I'm constantly on it be it for working, watching tv, listening to music... mostly everything that I do involves the computer in some way. Even eating... sort of. Because just yesterday I was looking for a way to cook my squash... so I checked the internet for recipes to see if I could find a new and interesting way to make it. Well, I found one, so the dinner we ate yesterday tasted the way it did because of the internet. And If you are thinking 6 to 8 hours a day is normal... trust me, I spend at least that much time on mine. I'm thinking more like 10 - 12 hours a day on mine lol. But probably a bit less on those days that I catch up on my sleep and sleep in for a long time. Because I end up staying up incredibly late most times on my computer, and sometimes I'm even forcing myself to go to bed because other people in the house have just woken up to go to work in the morning.Luckily no one so much bothers me about spending so much time on the computer, because my family is much to the same, just to a lesser degree. They spend a LOT of their free time on the computer, and most of the time they are home, they are sitting in front of their own monitors too. I'm glad that we've all bought our own computers now, because we used to have to take turns using it, and it just seemed like you couldn't get hardly anything done on it like that. Mind you, that was also in the days where I had a slow speed connection, so that really did not help at all.
  19. Wow, that's crazy... I know I've heard about it, but it's never happened to me, so I didn't realize that it could last that long. I'd be so scared if that happened to me... At least I know of a way to try and stop it now, if it ever did decided to happen to me... and I hope that you are able to stop it too if it does keep happening to you. Was the second time as long? Did it still freak you out as much?
  20. I've also thought about deja vu... and it's hard to think one way or the other what it could mean. I mean, the feeling you get when you are having it is extremely strange, so it's almost like it has to be something more than just the mind playing tricks on us. Though I've heard some of the scientific reasons for it, and what other people have had to say, so I'm not really sure. It would be really cool if it was like a sixth sense, but I'm not sure how much use it would be, seeing as it's the feeling of doing something again, but I've never felt it enough to figure out just what will happen next. Just the feeling like I've been there before. If deja vu came with the knowledge of what you were about to do too, then that would be cool.
  21. Can't say that I have, but then again, I've never done Yoga or whichever kind of exercise allows for that I suppose. Mind you, I'm not sure how true that is, because I think a lot more people wouldn't be wearing glasses then. I've also noticed how much worse my eyesight has gotten since I've been using the computer so much, so I think that I've found ways to make it worse, but not better. I could only dream XDI need to go back to the eye doctor again too, since my eyes have already changed and I need to increase my prescription.
  22. I can't actually say I like them, since they do hurt... but I don't really mind them all that much... especially because they prevent worse things from happening (so long as it's medicine and not drugs lol...) But I'd still rather do without the pain, but I put up with it since it's not that often and it's something that needs to be done sometimes.
  23. I know how hard it is to have enough money to survive, and I think that most people these days are in the same boat as you are, so it will be hard for a lot of people to donate their money to you and your family because they need all the money that they have just as much as you need the money. I know at home we are really feeling the pinch... and I'm guessing that's the way for a lot of the people in the world too.I'm not sure if you will be able to make much money this way, but I'm sure you will get something because there are a lot of really nice people in the world. And I'm glad that there was actually some stuff on your website and not just a message asking for the money. I think once people can get to know about you and your money problems a little more, they will be more willing to donate a little money to you. Because it's easier to donate to someone that you feel you know a little bit about, than to someone that you have no idea who it is or if they even need money at all.Hopefully the hits that I gave you will help you somehow, and I'll try to return to your site every now and again to see how things are going. It would be interesting if you kept a page that listed the people that donated, or kept a running total of how much you've made. It's nice to be able to say thank you to these people, and I think it would make them feel good. Plus, I think being able to see that sort of thing might be fun and keep people looking back just to see how you are doing. Keeping them interested until maybe they can have some extra money to help you.The one thing that you've got working for you though is that you do have a full time job, and that the money you make just doesn't cover what you need. A lot of people can relate to this, and since they know you are trying your best, that should help when people are thinking, "why should I donate to him?" They know you aren't just doing it because you are lazy, they know it's because you have a real need or you and your family wouldn't have enough money to survive.
  24. No idea if it's of any help, but my computer did that after there was a power outage... I guess there was a surge of power that went through the lines and into my computer (even though its in a plug with surge protection... stupid machines!) anyway, after the power came back on, my computer wouldn't start up and it just beeped and turned off.So I took it to the repair shop, and it was the some power box or something inside of it was blown, so they replaced it with a new one and everything worked out fine since then I was so worried that I'd need to spend a lot, but luckily it was only like $80 to replace whatever it was that broke. Much cheaper than a new computer lol...
  25. I'm not really afraid of dying anymore... I used to be terrified about dying when I was younger, but now I'm pretty okay with the idea. It's not that I want to die, I really really don't... and I think if I know the end was near, I'd definitely be afraid again, but I'm sort of to the point that I don't think that it's going to be any time soon, so it doesn't freak me out so much.If I was to die however, I'd want it to be painless. I'm sort of on the fence whether or not I'd want it to be long or short... because long at least you'd have time to do the things you wanted... though you'd know it was coming so it would be kind of bad for that way, because I think I'd feel bad and scared and stuff... but to have it happen when I don't know it's coming, I feel that I'd miss out on a lot of things that I'd want to do and say to people.I guess the answer to that is just start doing all the things I want to do, and say all the things I want to say now, but then I want to believe I have a lot of time ahead of me to do these things, so I don't want to be in any kind of a rush. If that makes sense...
