My Account DNS Having problems with domains
BuffaloHelp replied to Quatrux's topic in Web Hosting Support
Please mention the .net and uni.cc domain name so that admins can have a look.Is one of them the Q zone? It appears very quickly with the average round trip times of 120ms. This is normal for Xisto ping time. -
You can bypass SMTP by using PHP function mail(). This will use server's SMTP and send without any filter. This is not, however, a good method since the origin daemon will show hosting server's domain name in the detailed header information. For example I may have a domain name of xxxxx but when I use mail() with Xisto hosting, the mail origin daemon shows as Xisto--because Xisto is the hosting server's IP ID.You can use other mailing service scripts such as phpList or create your own. I modified CuteNews with Newsletter mod and wrote additional script to add registration to the mailing list. This in turn is the exact copy of mailing list and registered commentators.
-
PHP is server side run script, therefore you have to post L10FmX.php source code here in order to see what is not sent correctly. Obviously you are passing variables to L10FmX.php and this file is doing all emailing and such?

As I answered before, as long as you obtained it from IPB during 1.3 was available, you can install it on Xisto. Or if you obtained it during Fantastico was offering again you can install it. All others--no. You could log into your cPanel and find out Xisto cPanel's Fantastico only offers phpBB and SMF as pre-installed scripts. That does not mean you can't install other forum scripts yourself.
-
As of last year, cPanel or the 3rd party vendor such as Fantastico! no longer provides IPB for free installation. This topic has been discussed many times in our Hosted Members Area and please remember to search before you post a redundant topic.IPB no longer provides trial or free scripts. You cannot request for trial or beta version and any floating around IPB free versions are no longer "legal" to be installed with Xisto hosting. There are exceptions: if you previsouly downloaded v1.3 final or v2.x trial from IPB Inc. website and have the license file you can install it on Xisto hosting. All others will be required to taken down.

ASP and ASP.NET are Windows language and only available through Windows hosting solution.Xisto is Unix hosting and ASP is not supported in Xisto hosting. There are ASP <--> UNIX translators available but not without some price. If you can manage to purchase one you can install them. Otherwise please see Xisto - Web Hosting Windows hosting solutions for your ASP script needs.

Okay, so as long as you are willing to install a TV tuner card to your computer system everything should be very simple. So a typical TV tuner card (internal) looks something like this Just as you guessed it, there are external USB tuner cards available. This is your choice. As you can see, there's a standard coax (where you thread RG-5 or RG-6 standard coax cable) just like you would hook up your cable box, box to your TV etc. That's all you have to do. Treat the connection to the TV tuner card like you would hook up a VCR to your television. The software included with the tuner card should do the rest. However, if your cable system is something like a satellite system where you need the cable box to decode the satellite scrambled signal, you would need the satellite box before connecting to the TV tuner card. i.e. -------[satellite box]-------[TV tuner card]-->PC

I Bid Adeu, Trap 17... Sad to say, but Zero is gone.
BuffaloHelp replied to Zero Ziat's topic in General Discussion
Au contraire mon amie! I consider anyone who is willing to follow Xisto forum rules and carefully build and cultivate this forum, hosting credits and our community to be a VERY VALUABLE member to the community! I am so glad Xisto was, at least, a welcomed respite during your search for all your hosting needs. I know how painful and difficult of finding a hosting service that you like. We will miss you! Yes, do stop back in sometime and let us know how you are doing. We'll have this place open for you 24 hours a day; lights will be on and keeping the place still warm... -
A capture card is also another alternative. But whatever it may require, you would definitely need some sort of input device that can decrypt the cable signal and translate it to video signal.Any cpature card + VCR = TV on your computer monitor. VCR has built-in television signal decryptor that will act like the TV tuning card.

I'm not sure it's the same username but the same workgroup name.In addition, each computer must have at least one folder set to SHARING.

Video Editing Music for anniversary video
BuffaloHelp replied to moldboy's topic in Art & Creativity
40th anniversary! Wow! Congratulations!Let's see... 40 years ago would be 1946 and they probably got married when they were in 20's so I would suggest Jazz musics, especially by Rat Pack would be an ideal and nostalgic.Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, although they are Rat Pack of the 60's, would have been the highlight of every home and street those good old days. Keep the music volume low and don't play the song from the beginning to the end. Sometimes fading in and out with the video's sound works great. Have a theme song that starts in the beginning, fade out and regain (repraise) at the end (if you're going to have credits rolling, it's great). For example, Sinatra's "The way you look tonight" starts the movie...with slideshow/short footages, and then fades out for regular video sound, then some other songs and then refade in to complete the beginning song with another picture slideshow or rolling credits. This is what is known as "metaphoric story telling" and is used a lot by independent film makers and many stand-up comedians--start with something, distract, lead into something else and then end with the first idea and complete it (completing the circle). -
Here is another thought:If you want to keep your current index.php as is but want to make paste.php as your home page, you can rename it simply to index.html (unless you need it as PHP script). These are the order in which Xisto hosting will display your index page.index.htmlindex.htmindex.phpI think there is one more but it is not supported by Xisto, I guess. So theoretically you can have 3 index pages in your web hosting...just that only ONE gets to show first.

The question is to use your GeForce instead if Intel video card? Or use both but you want GeForce to be the primary card?Well, I have not attempted at this kind of procedure. I have two monitors and I purchased special graphics card that can handle up to 4 monitors. I never trusted on-board video cards. But here is what you can try to do. It depends on your motherboard. Enter the BIOS setting and see if you can "force" which card to be the primary. My ASUS motherboard has an option that can trigger on-board, PCI or AGP as my primary card. Sometimes BIOS setting "Plug & Play OS installed?" option might be set to "NO". Set it to YES or if it's set to YES then set to NO. This will allow Windows OS to have better control over basic setup, rather than BIOS having to tell Windows OS what's what...etc. Because, whatever it is set to now it's not working for you. So try the opposit.Ah...and I see that you're trying to use two monitors so the second part of my post will be irrelevant.

30giga Web Mail Free web big storage
BuffaloHelp replied to tekbunly's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I'm not even sure if it's good for file storing with an email service that offers huge space, such as this. The reason is that most email services limits how much of attachment you can send. Currently Yahoo! is 10mb. I have not tested Gmail but I'm sure it's either 5 or 10mb per attachment. It's enough if I wanted to send a document. But a document cannot even fill the current 1 or 2GB provided space. I have been sending small files that are under 5~7mb to myself as an attachment to keep those program files handy wherever I go--it's like a file hosting service. And even at the maximum attachment usage of 10mb, it will take several uploads to use the 2GB space. So what's good about having the 30GB space when the attachment is still limited? I think 30GB is just the waste of the technology given. Now if 30GB email service says the attachment can be up to 100 or 500mb... well then we have something here... -
It's a tough question because I don't understand the question intended. You have your domain. You also have index file for your domain. But instead of index, you want your domain to point to another file instead of index file?Couldn't you make paste.php to index.php? Problem solved. But are you asking leave the current index as is and make your domain point to another file named paste.php?? Still doesn't make any sense of what you are asking but if you want to set so that when people type your domain name, it goes straight to domain/paste.php, you can redefine which file to be shown as the first page in your .htaccess file. You can define which file to be loaded first. This is another trick where home.html can be used for some ISP hosting services and google hosting service.

No Startup Response Wont respond to disc or cd or Cant Safe Mode
BuffaloHelp replied to jlhaslip's topic in Hardware Workshop
I understand it as the laptop was re-formatted and the operating system hasn't been installed yet and you're trying to install the OS? If so, the laptop first needs to be set to CDROM drive boot as the first device. This is done through BIOS usually gained access by pressing DEL key right at the boot up. Some laptops require F1 key to be pressed while the splash screen of Toshiba appears. Enter the setup and select boot sequence, and make sure the first booting device is set as CDROM or related device. My Satellite A75 series requires F2 to enter BIOS setup and F12 to choose booting sequence without entering BIOS. So it's different from a laptop to a laptop...perhaps even within the same company maker. -
Understand the nature of Xisto.Welcome, first of all! The way Xisto works is like this: You are to participate in our forum in *any* forum section you want. This means you do not have to be a computer savvy. You may wish to participate our SPORTS section--that section needs to be beefed up anyway.By participating and following our forum rules, in return, Xisto shows appreciation by providing you with free web hosting. And I can tell you already like what you see. So the importance is in the forum participation and not what you know or how much you know. By the way, we have few sports enthusiasts around and perhaps we can share website designing tips concentrated around sports theme. Xisto asks that you search the forum first before making a new topic. But don't be afraid to make a topic if it means creating a thread worthy of good discussions. There are serveral sections that you should get to know:The Internet > Website designing and discussionLife Talk > SportsTutorialsand any other areas you feel comfortable participating. You are not bound to the above sections but it's a good point of interest to start.Another section, if you already have not, General Talk > Introduction.Good luck.

I will find out if Xisto has automated checkout for hosting credit purchase. And I will let admins know and have it available for all--that is if it exists. In the mean time, please make sure that your hosting credits are above 10 possibly at all times. This will make your life less complicated

For a statement insists that it's not a bashing of any kind, it sure looks to be a bash of some sort... This is why initially I requested no awards to be given out by anyone. But to draw more attention to SOTW, one of GFX Crew heads decided to involve admins whereby offering hosting credits to winning. Because of the dominant maturity level of this forum, a reward can be a deadly poison to pure self-motivated intellectual exchange of skills--I think I am allowed to VENT here since it is The Vent section. Simply put, if one conditions another with reward for a proud behavior, that proud behavior will not repeat unless another reward is present. So where are my GFX Crew members? What happened to all moderators who are in charge of GFX section? What about the original members who requested GFX section to be made in the first place? Where are the mods whom I promoted to take care of GFX section? And with this kind of responsibility another promotion of rank was requested?? Since SOTW was slowing down and all those who were appointed to SOTW were not on as frequently any more, I have decided to hold longer SOTW grace period. If this upsets you because SOTW is not "like" before I took it over or I messed up the spirit of SOTW you will just have to blame me because I can't wait until GFX Crew are either decide to come back or relinquish to admin. Maybe I should restructure my moderating team. Because obviously there's been frequent uprising to admins decisions and instead of moderators and GFX Crew doing their own job, admins are picking up the rest of the shift. There is lack of respect for admins because mods are not respected or respecting admins. Hey, we all have lives. Anyone understands it. All they had to do was float me a message saying, hey I will try to be supportive in coming few months/years, would have been fine. In fact, the very people who promoted that we have our own "check in" section are the ones who have not checked with the rest of moderation team. Lack of proper communication, demonstrates to me, that Xisto's responsibilities are not taken seriously to some. And the ranking system completely divided the forum to two pieces--moderators and members. Members are waiting moderators (that's including admins, too) to cultivate the forum and moderators are not actively seeking to cultivate the forum. This is EVERYONE's forum--not just for moderators. Treat this forum as your own and initiate the first "action" instead of waiting for someone else to take care of it. I urge and request EVERY member of Xisto to be the contributors of this forum--not just a back seat driver. This is a community. This is not the place for he said, she said, I am better than you etc. Believe me, I get swamped with hate PMs and junk PMs that tells me this is a terrible hosting place and how much they are better than I. THIS IS NOT A HOSTING PLACE! Let me make myself clear. HOSTING IS JUST AN ICING ON A CAKE. This is a FORUM place first. It's the big almighty place to discuss and be rebuked for an idea presented to each topic. Hosting is provided at free of charge in show of appreciation for participating in this forum. So if members choose not to participate on SOTW there's nothing you or I can do. But it should not deter the rest of us from staying the course. So what only few people have participated? If the SOTW subject and criteria seems to be too high for the rest of designers, lower it. If you don't have an idea for the next SOTW discuss it out in the open! Ask people to submit ideas. If you feel that SOTW can do better, submit a suggestion. Take charge: don't be a back seat driver. That's all I ask.

Favicon - Icon For Website Bookmark
BuffaloHelp replied to apurva's topic in Websites and Web Designing
This tells me that you just renamed a picture file to .ico instead of creating an actual .ico file. Opera is made so that it will force any picture format by reading the relevant META tag within a picture. So it does not distinguish a type of image format...it just understands it and translates it. That's why it's very popular with mobile phones and such--it shows the web no matter what the web format. -
Favicon - Icon For Website Bookmark
BuffaloHelp replied to apurva's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Take a look at your coding again. <link REL="SHORTCUT ICON"href="http://unitechy.zu.uz/public_html/favicon.ico" /> You need a space between ICON and href Also, if you type the whole favicon's URL you should be able to see your icon. Currently the image is not available. So check your path. Is it under public_html? Then all you need is http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ ICO must be saved as ICO from ICO generators. A jpeg, for example, cannot be renamed to .ico. There are online .ico generators for free if you do not have .ico maker. ICO format should be either 16x16 or 32x32. This makes it easier for browsers to make it available without any distortion.
