Help Fix My Site's Css/layout Issues Thanks for your time
BuffaloHelp replied to gaea's topic in Programming
If SPAN didn't work, then you should go ahead with DIV instead. Rather than using class to define the structure of your web page, use ID <div id="mouseOver"> . . . </div> and of course your stylesheet should reflect accordingly. If I was designing that navigation portion I would do something like this <div id="navigation"><a class="menu" href="#">menu1</a> <a class="menu" href="#">menu2</a> etc And define stylesheet as #navigation {border top and bottom with style}a.menu {style, color etc}a.menu:hover{style, color behavor when mouse is over}What you are trying to do is use the SPAN to draw the top borderline and another SPAN to draw the bottom line when stylesheet can define the whole process, including the hover instead of "mouseOver" effect. -
If you are suggesting that Xisto - Web Hosting service should be free as well and instead of payment it should be like Xisto--forum posting; this suggestion is a bad idea.Xisto - Web Hosting income funds Xisto. Therefore, once the income source goes away the surplus designated for Xisto also disappears. The ads alone cannot fund the whole operation of Xisto Corporation. Having paid customers at Xisto - Web Hosting also ensures the budget plan due to steady source of income. Ad revenue is not guaranteed of steady income.Xisto - Web Hosting also resides under different servers for 100% reliable server uptime (because customers pay for the demand). With all due respect, free web hosting members abuse SQL and wrongfully coded scripts far too often. But since it's free the hosting members are not reprimand quite often. Xisto - Web Hosting abuse is never tolerated the first time, not any time. So having Xisto - Web Hosting and Xisto servers in different places separates the "level" of users. If Xisto and Xisto - Web Hosting servers merged it would result both services down more than the satisfactory level. As you can see, neither combining hosting service or servers do not make favorable business idea.

Here is another trick to see if gamma server is down.Let's define what actually included in down time. When a server refuses any connection, this is called the down time. But, if your site cannot be opened because your site depends on SQL database, this is not a down time.A hint: the animated blue Xisto - Web Hosting ad next to Chitika is hosted with the gamma server. Since I have only seen it once to not appear, gamma server is not considered down. HTTP service has rarely gone down so it's mostly a database related issue. This is also where the most abuse comes for any server issues. So, if you cannot see this blue Xisto - Web Hosting animated ad, THEN the gamma server is down. If not, the problem is elsewhere--either your database cannot be opened, ISP or firewall is preventing or the server is refusing your connection at the moment (block or ban).I hope that sheds some light into this whole "server down" misunderstanding. :PPS, this is another reason why I placed something that is linked from gamma server to this forum page. It's a faster and quicker check of server status.

I recently fixed unwanted line break with H1 tag by using this as part of stylesheet. span {display: inline;} give it a try. -
I am sure you were looking out for your best interest--finding hosting solution that fits your needs. Well, first of all it's nice to see that Xisto was a good place for you to start your hosting. But you needed more and ventured out other hosting services. And you soon realized that Xisto Corporation offered better solution than what others claimed, out there. There's no need for apoligies. Think of yourself as a scout bee that went to a far place and have returned with your report Anyway, we do not keep tabs on who left this community and such... all we ask is continue to contribute with quality post and stay active as a community member; even if may be once in a while Welcome back!

Protecting A Directory From Deliberate Access how do i do it?
BuffaloHelp replied to darran's topic in Web Hosting Support
You can also use CHMOD value of 700 to prevent even further. By preventing other than yourself to read those files/directory you can be sure that no one can even get a glimps of the file. But if you want to execute these files as part of scripts (like you mentioned) webprotect will not work. htaccess and robots would be the best way so that people and search engines won't even know your files exist in the first place. For each j2me souce file, perhaps you can place a session id where if your single souce file is called, it redirects to another page thereby not revealing the original page. As far as I can tell J2ME is still the client side JAVA thus anyone can download the file and view its source. The only way to really prevent your scripts from being "seen" is to run it server side, i.e. PHP. PHP code cannot be seen at 95% of the time. -
<h1> tag and other headline tags leaves you with break in the line. So I searched for how to use CSS to trick the headline tags not to give an automatic break line and this is what I found: H1, H2, H3 {font-size: 9pt;font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;text-decoration: none;padding: 0 0 0 0px;margin: 0 0 0 0px;display: inline;} display: inline; fixed the trick originally posted CSS from the first topic. According to this article, be careful of using too many h1 tags or using only h1 or other tags repeatedly. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

Reddening Of Laptop Lcd Screen
BuffaloHelp replied to xboxrulz1405241485's topic in Hardware Workshop
Older and some modern LCD screens use cold white cathode as a backlight source.Sadly, cold cathodes will loose its brightness and it will cause either to go dim or display amber or reddish color. You can rule out your graphics card failure by plugging in an external monitor--you'll see a normal color status. You can replace your cold cathode backlight or upgrade to LED white lights. Either way this step will require you to open and replace components. -
I took it for a spin and it looks like the key advantage for this new search engine is that a live person chats with you and refines the key search words. But my search request was transferred from one operator to another... I guess "basic php script start" wasn't first operator's expertise area. For those who are proficient with search phrases to get your results, this will be a cinch! You cannot become the Chacha guide unless you're invited. So, if I understand it correctly, you cannot become Chacha guide unless you are invited by the "master chacha." And whoever invited you earns 10% of your payment...?!?I think I'll apply for one

Please give an example of URL and perhaps you can post the file as well?PHP is server side ran script. So if it's downloading it's usually because the format was not compliant with PHP scripting--so it's interpreted as other file type.

FlashChat will work with Xisto hosting. I will remind you that if server admins deems your chat to be against AUP they will stop your script immediately. This can include the content of topics discussed to information transmitted that is against our TOS.There isn't a file type restriction unless the file/files are breaking the law--if a zip file contains illegally licensed software it is breaking the law. These and others (read out AUP and TOS) will result in immediate cancellation of your hosting account and ban from our services.

Dear Xisto hosting members, We're conducting a short survey regarding our hosting service. What we are interested is have you received a confirmation email when your application was approved? Again, if you were approved for hosting did you receive an email from Xisto? Please PM me with the answer YES or NO and which email address you used/received the confirmation. This is important and I would truly appreciate if every hosting member can submit an answer. Thank you To give you a rough outline: PM subject: survey Email: yes/no Email address: addy(at)domain(dot)ext

My Site Is Suspended xtremewarez.uni.cc
BuffaloHelp replied to Lewisthemusician's topic in Web Hosting Support
Have you reached a negative hosting credit number? If so, you must bring it back to +4 or higher and then wait about 1 hour before your hosting can be un-suspended.According to the report your site was suspended automatically. And I think your site was suspended due to lack of credits. Let us know. -
Selecting the correct type, either + or -, was a factor if you were going to play a movie with a DVD player. But with recent develpment in software technology you can play DVD+ disks in most DVD player with the correct setting called, Booktype or BitSetting to DVD-ROM. This will trick any DVD player to recognize DVD+R disk as DVD-R disk style. This will also overcome most DVD drives on older computers to read DVD+R disks. DVD-R's are 99.99% universal. But note that DVD+-RW is completely different and only DVD players that made compatible with DVDRW disks can play DVDRW disks.DVD+-R's are good but look into DVD+-R/W DL (dual layer) as well. Sony was the first to release DL writing drive, followed by Plextor (which your list lacks). The speed of the drive is great but look for higher buffer--2mb is average 8mb would be the best. Higher the writing speed, having higher buffer and burn technology would be the best way to choose your hardware. BurnProof, Safe Burn, JustSpeed etc any of these technology should be present in your hardware. Otherwise, you should burn at the lowest burning speed to ensure an accurate burning process time after time. And finally, I would go with a hardware that includes Nero software.

The final size may be small, but to perform the execution it takes CPU usage...right? That's what I mean by the server resource. The larger and complex the database may be, the higher CPU usage and memory usage to zip it. But anyway, that still doesn't explain your cron job disappearing and you had to set it again. And since the last cPanel upgrade few things were back to working, such as "unlimited" value set for sub-domain numbers. So that might hint that during the cpanel upgrade all cron jobs might have been suspended to protect the data. I am sorry to say if this will be a priority but I will have OpaQue respond to this topic as soon as possible.

How To Make A Dot.tk Domain Redirect To Your Site!
BuffaloHelp replied to sweetescape's topic in Programming
Hummm... isn't this redundant?Normally people signup for dot.tk to get shorter sub-domain. And they would redirect this short domain name to longer sub-domain name, i.e. free_web_hosting.trap17.com *shameless plug*But the META redirect redirects back to a sub-domain name... well... you see my point.I suppose this is useful if you want to claim domain_name(dot)com, dot net, dot whatever plus dot TK -
Please review our sig requirement request post. It's the pinned topic of this forum section.

Cron job takes a toll on server resources and backing up your account frequently can be seens as risky by server admins. For backing up your account, please perform it perhaps one a week and when you have the least traffic to your site. For executing your script see if you can optimize your steps and perform at the lowest server traffic time--usually around 1am in GMT time.UPDATEI ran 10 cron jobs to backup my account and they all ran without problems. Although I have not received the email notification for them I have to say the cron job is functioning fine.So I will have to go with the answer, "run it during the least busiest hours" to avoid manual termination by server admin. That's the only answer I can think of at this time.Thanks.

Seo Score And Calculations how crawlers are seeing your page
BuffaloHelp replied to BuffaloHelp's topic in Search Engines
Oh come now, do you think I'll be making this known unless everyone can take an advantage I tested annex.trap17.com and it showed as it should And as I mentioned, First type in Xisto.com for WHOIS and launch the text browser, then type in the sub-domain of Xisto and it should appear. Text browser is a browser within your browser (AJAX I believe) so it shows any URL you enter.
