  1. No such script exists in my computer or does anything. I believe, by the looks of the code, that it references a site/code and stores it to my firewall's log.
  2. I was paranoid! After all that cleaning my computer from spyware I realized the following codes were showing up constantly (everywhere I go) when I viewed a page source.Just before </head> ends <script language='javascript' src='http://127.0.0.1:****/js.cgi?pca&r=*****'></script> And after </html> <script language='javascript'>postamble();</script> WHAT DA HECK IS IT??It looks like some java script was calling from within my computer and *'s were changing constantly with each time I refreshed a webpage for a source code. After few hours of searching, I found a possible answer. It seems like if you have firewall programs such as Zone Alarm Security or Check Point Integrity (which I have) these programs insert the above codes automatically for every web page you view. I turned off my firewall, refreshed a webpage and viewed the source code again and this time it did not show.We can all relex now, whew~ I thought something was still present in my computer. Just sharing this information if you ever wondered about these codes.
  3. There was a topic regarding Cashfiesta and another member reported that the website contained spywares and downloading tool bars that were a security threat. How can anyone be sure? How much can Xisto members trust Cashfiesta.com?
  4. Please try to use more understandable English. This is required as a member of this forum. What you are saying is you have to go through the process of loging in twice? This is either 1) you did not allow your browser to set cookies 2) you mistyped your password first 3) your firewall/security is preventing you from accessing security site unless the PORT is listed.Check, also, to see if you have any program running (such as anti-spyware OR spyware itself) that can prevent you from accessing your cPanel correctly.
  5. Topic closed because this thread is almost a year old. It's safe to assume that the problem has been solved or ignored by the topic starter. Please refrain from resurrecting an old topic.
  6. There's also a disadvantage of allowing changing cPanel password in a flash... what if someone has the access of seeing your forum password? Without you knowing a password can be changed to both accounts--the forum and your cPanel. Allowing credits to be used serves as a buffer if your cPanel password needs to be changed other than you. If you have only 9 credits, someone else cannot change your cPanel password immediately unless gaining additional credits needed. But before we discuss what ifs... let's discuss about preventing it from happening in the first place. You can change your cPanel without any hosting credits. This is done through your cPanel. So the very first step is to protect and complicate your password to your cPanel. Mix numbers and letters. Make it longer than 6 characters (128 is max). Make sure you do not have keylogger or spyware in your computer used to access your cPanel. Do not, I repeat, do not use public computer that you do not use often to access your cpanel or FTP. They may be infected with who knows what. If you are still worried about cPanel being compromised, change your password often. When you change your cPanel password, change your forum password as well. Email both passwords to your "secure" email address OR memorize them. Do not write it down. If you have to write it down, chances are you will forget them.
  7. Another thing I can think of is if you opened, using the same browser type, another window to view Xisto, the fist browser and the second browser will automatically log you out. This is not the case of you right click and open another link from the first browser.Correction: it looks like it only happens under IE6
  8. Is it possible that your MTU is set incorrectly? My Verizon DSL account, at first, could not send any outgoing email using my Outlook. At first I thought it was SMTP server gone down. However, after careful search I found that if MTU is set at 1500. DSL PPPoE cannot send outgoing mail using that high value. This MTU is not set by your router or any hardware, it resides in your Windows registry. So I searched for my TCP/IP MTU value and set to 1492 (8 bit lower than the maximum allowed for my PPPoE) and it has been working correctly. In United States this issue is common if your system was upgraded from Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional before any SP1 or SP2 installation. Verizon was never aware of this situation since it is individual's user specification. Verizon, like most big companies, assume that your computer is factory set-default. The software provided by Verizon was never used since I manually configured my DSL connection--by entering username and password directly to my DSL modem. In addition, several computers that I have worked on were missing this MTU values from registries. In this case you must enter the MTU value manually by adding the string. Article on how to modify MTU value in registry: http://www.pctools.com/guides/
  9. You can do two ways:1) access your cPanel, click on the folder (not the folder icon) you're trying to change mode, right hand menu "change permission." This is done through File Manager.2) using your FTP software, right click on the folder and select the permission or chmod menu. This is different from which FTP software you're using.
  10. You can remove them without any consequences. However, they do not take much of your hosting space--probably no more than 30Kbytes all together. If you set your permission to the public_html correctly, you can regain them back when you use FrontPage to publish you web pages. But it will not be Xisto publishing files. So you may not have all the function you would want from FrontPage. .htaccess files have been created customized for your convenience. Please back up those folders/files before deleting. You can store them in your local drive.
  11. It would be nice if you posted your source code...? Otherwise it's all in the speculation. And note the QUOTE bbcode tag I added?
  12. Trap17 forum featured Member's Map module but during the upgrade from v2.0 to 2.1.x it was not activated.OpaQue and I were discussing about how much information are too personal? And it was that debate that resulted in not activating the member map in our forum. This is still in the discussion of adding new modules to Xisto forum (without slowing down the forum). In the mean time have fun, and be safe
  13. Having the latest version does not mean the hosting is better or the latest version offers better hosting capability. Apache 2.x version already gone through serveral revisions--what makes this better than 1.3.x when 2.x are still being fixed? ReWriteRule? Postgre is no longer supported by Xisto and have stopped supporting by cPanel for Xisto hosting accounts. Thus this is no longer in discussion. This leaves MySQL and PHP. The discussion of PHP5 can be viewed here http://forums.xisto.com/topic/42023-php5-upgrade-in-the-future/ so please SEARCH the forum before making a redundant topic. The bottom line is this: cPanel releases updated version and according to what is the most STABLE version that is out there for universal usage. Individually I'm sure it can benefit individual's hosting operation but collectively Xisto must supply with the most stable versions out there. This means sometimes the application versions may be out-dated or just under the current released version. What if the newer version was installed and few days/weeks later a patch is released for the fresh installed one? It would mean an endless hours of constant upgrades. This leads to slowing down of server CPU and resource, which in turn means hosting members suffer ultimately. This is the case with IPB forums. Sometimes it's best to sit back and wait until all holes have been patched and then install at one shot.
  14. _filename are for your FrontPage to be published. If you do not use FrontPage to upload, you do not need those folders. To reset, as time and time again explained, you have to terminate your hosting and start over. If your web index page is operating as normal (under public_html) your hosting is running correctly. If you wish to reset to the original state, please terminate your hosting and re-apply.Thank you
  15. I think you should have searched our forum first. http://forums.xisto.com/topic/30541-the-million-dollar-homepage-one-site-that-made-a-millionaire/ http://forums.xisto.com/topic/31932-a-1-million-web-idea-one-pixel-at-a-time/ http://forums.xisto.com/topic/39064-do-you-believe/ Searching and searching options are here for you to use it. Please use it next time.
  16. Credit: original idea inspired by Marsupial at GIDEONTECH (at least that was the first place I saw in 2003) HTPC (Home Theatre Personal Computer) has been a rising idea back in 2003. Still today, not many people are investing in HTPC. People think they might have HTPC of their own but I am talking about the real HTPC--one that you can treat it like your DVD, VCR or Home Threatre surround sound system. What really makes HTPC? There are several components that truly makes an ordinary PC to HTPC. From time to come I will be making complete posts of my HTPC. But the very crutial part of HTPC is to make it completely wireless! There are wirelss connections (WiFi) and keyboards...but what about a remote power on? The parts sold by many computer companies are too expensive and it takes PCI slots that you may or may not have available. Why? Some HTPC requires to have micro-ATX or sub-ATX motherboards. Every PCI slot counts. The original idea and the article inspired me to make my own remote "control" to power on my HTPC. This only took a regular wireless doorbell that I purchased from a local hardware store, a reed relay from RadioShack and various parts I wanted from leftover computer parts. Step 1: Solving the constant power issue A computer does not remain a constant power supply until the power button is pressed. To solve this issue the majority of motherboards have WOL (Wake On LAN) that constantly powers the NIC in the event of remote request. Luckly this provides good 5 volt supply at all time--even with PC turned off. I accessed my BIOS and enabled WOL or BOOT POWER - PCI device for some other motherboards. Please refer to your motherboard's manual for complete guide to enabling this portion. *Some motherboards will not start unless this device is actually present. This means, if you enable it before you plug in this WOL to another device, your computer will not start and just hang. If this is the case, enable this option at the END of your steps. Step 2: Planning ahead If you are not familiar with circuit boards or soldering please practice before you follow my project guide. I wanted to create a circuit board that not only require to have wireless power on switch, but a manual override switch. This means I can either use the remote control to power on OR press the power button, physically, and turn my HTPC on. This requires to have two connection that are open circuit until the relay or the button closes the circuit. The power button to the motherboard is nothing more than a momentary switch (pressing will cause to close the circuit and releasing the button will cause to open the circuit) extending from the motherboard. And as we all know, if you hold the power button for over 5 seconds, your computer will perform a quick shut-down. Which means, my doorbell cannot "ring" for more than 5 seconds. Step 3: The doorbell Many doorbells have different options: "ding" "ding-ding" and "melody playing" For my remote control need, I need a straight "ding" that is no more than 5 seconds long. I have found one for $5 that was in the clearance bin. I opened the recever (one with the sound coming out) and checked the operation using my Craftsman voltmeter. I checked to see the continuity and voltage. Again, I was in luck! The doorbell receiver only requires less than 5V and can sustain operation up to 7V. Step 4: Finding the right relay Now that I knew my operating voltage (motherboard manual indicates 5V from WOL and doorbell ringing at <5V) finding a relay to operate within 5V was the only hard part left. Reed Relay from RadioShack met this requirement. This relay is SPST (Single Pole Single Tap). This means, when the current is running one direction it causes open "TAP" to be magnetized and taps to the nearest metal--to close the circuit. When the current is not running it returns to the open circuit stage and cuts the connection, to whatever it is connected, off. Step 5: Circuit board layout After careful consideration, this is what I came up. Providing a constant power from WOL to the doorbell receiver, the speaker wires delivers 4V to the reed relay (picture with red box inside--coils). When the current flows through the coil it creates magnetic field which causes "reed" (the open portion on the left) to be attracted to the metal piece and completes the circuit. I then added PINS to connect to the motherboard and to the HTPC power switch. As you can see, I ran 6 pins in parallel formation to keep things simple. This is the final picture of my remote start receiver. Step 6: The final count Complete project is as good as the original intension. If this project somehow short-circuits your motherboard you would have one very expensive mistake to correct. So after completing my project I took my handy voltmeter and checked to see the Continuity and Voltage. I wanted to make sure the contact is made just long enough to turn on the HTPC but not too long to shut itself down. I also wanted to make sure that the connection did not produce ANY voltage. Any current voltage feedback (going back to the motherboard) would surely to fry the motherboard. Because of my planning ahead no currect is flowing at any of those 6 PINS. When mounting this to your computer case, HTPC case, remember that this may create unwanted current flow. Be sure to mount this on a surface that will not cause any short-circuit. This took me about 4 hours to build (my soldering technique wasn't as good as before) and inhaled many lead fumes. So be careful when you solder anything The button from the doorbell will be mounted to my wireless keyboard (pictures coming in future posts) and it is working beautifully. Any questions please feel free to ask. Happy modding!
  17. WHOA! Amazing...complete with sun shine. But didn't we say 2D image?? LOL jhaslip has started a new trend :)Uploaded. Please try to design it in 2D in GIF format. Why? Because that was the original post rule and it kinda reminds pixelife, Sim City and older Sim Life. Maximum width is 200px and maximum height is 400px. Transparent background and try in GIF format.
  18. Enter your cPanel and go through the process of Parking a domain. It's really easy. If you are having a trouble with parking your domain, look through our Hosted Members Area or PM me.Once your domain is parked, you will have two URLs that will lead to your index file (so-to-speak). And that's it! Just promote your newly purchased domain name and you will be all set.
  19. Before I close this topic I'd like to set the record straight. You may have one of each Free Web Hosting, No Ads from Xisto and Xisto. But the conditions are as follows: 1) you must comply with both forum rules2) your cpanel names should not be the same - you've been warned3) hosting credits cannot be transferred from Xisto <--> Xisto *PERIOD*Thank you. To continue this topic please PM a moderator.
  20. My apology in closing this subject this late.m^e has regained the control over our FAQ section and is now fully operational. We were using a script that somehow was compromised. This goes to show you that always upgrade and double check your installed scripts and self-made scripts. :PTopic is closed. Thank you for your patience.
  21. Topic resolved; closed. Please PM a moderator if you wish to continue this thread.
  22. Refer to Xisto Readme and find out how long DNS propagation takes. Before making just a topic for the sake of posting/earning credit, please SEARCH and refer to Xisto Readme *FIRST*.Thank you.PS, to close this topic it takes 24-72 hours before your domain name and the new nameserver can be propagated through the internet world. This is normal and there's nothing you or Xisto can do to expedite the process.
  23. What does "Xisto" mean to you? I am asking as purely on the aesthetic sense where Xisto sub-domain name and the looks of the name ONLY. This is not about the service or the forum themselves. So read on carefully In the past the name Xisto received mixed views. Some people thought it was a cool name. But some others thought what kind of sub-domain is that and such. The name Xisto holds special interest to OpaQue. But OpaQue is much more concerned with the users of his service, free web hosting with no ads. So, if you were to name this fantastic hosting service from the beginning what would you name it? Here is your chance to frankly throw your two cents, (or three if you're rich ) to genuinely discuss if the name Xisto should be changed or keep it the way it is. We would like to hear what Xisto, the name, means to you. For example, 'it reminds me of 17 year old teenager's place' or 'it sounds like a hip-hop domain name' etc. Anything. Secondly if you have the choice to rename Xisto to something else, which would you suggest? This can be a domain name already taken or use https://xisto.com/ to see if it's still available. For example, some one may suggest the name Z-ULTRAHOST. This will not only change the forum name but your sub-domain as well, i.e. annex.z-ultrahost.com etc. Lastly, would you rather keep the sub-domain, i.e. annex.trap17.com, but just change the forum domain name? Thank you and be sure to vote!
  24. Since when listing hardware spec constitutes as quality contribution? Use the quote bbcode next time. Judging by his hardware specification, this is a desktop. No laptop or PDA would list the power supply as 400 watt $1006 just for the CPU?? Wow, I think you're getting ripped off. Dell probably offers something similiar including 17" ultra sharp LCD monitor around the similar price. Looks like you're paying so much on the GPU (graphics card). Do you really need that much? Or are you buying a gaming system? That card is designed for 3D autocad or rendering process. But just for gaming PC, I think you are way to rich
  25. After creating your database, did you create a USER with proper password *THEN* Grant permissions on a MySQL database to a MySQL user? And made sure Privileges are set to ALL?When you were setting poMMo, did you enter all the right fields, such as localhost as the database host name along with username and password? When requesting for support next time, please list ALL of your steps so that we can identify where you might have missed something or trouble shoot the cause.
