How far apart do the electricity line and the telephone line run? If they are about 16 inches apart (industry default is at least 18 inches apart), you need not worry about any interference. How do you know if one DSL is slower than the other? Have you tested with download/upload speed? If so, check all wire connections between the phone jack from the DSL modem to the wall jack, all the way to the POTS or Network Interface (where the company line [telephone pole] connects to the building). In any given point, if the condition of the wire is poor try changing out the wire. A poor condition may be that the gauge of telephone line can be irregular. A gauge of 24~18 is highly recommended for all internal telephone wire system. A good UTP is 24 gauge, average is 28 gauge. Lower the gauge number thicker the diameter. The distance (phone line used) from the wall jack to the DSL rounter should be no longer than 6 feet (DSL claims up to 12 feet is alright). And the gauge for this wire is also between 24~18 gauge. If you used regular store bought phone line extension, please replace it immediately. DSL company should have supplied you with a heavy gauge phone line extension to use with the DSL modem.Addressing foil suggestion:As far as I know aluminum foils contain tin as well--so they are not 100% aluminum. Although they may shield some EMF it will not be effective as having the proper clearance between the electricity line and the phone line.

How To Change My Hosting At Astahost.com To Computinghost.com
BuffaloHelp replied to niran's topic in Web Hosting Support
Servers for Xisto - Web Hosting are different from your Xisto server. You can view various servers by Xisto Company by visiting http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ and click on Network Status.Nameservers for Xisto - Web Hosting are:ns1.computinghost.comns2.computinghost.comAlthough they have the same resolving IP address as Xisto nameservers, using those names are best for you.You can request account transfer like suggested from above, or you can do it yourself--whichever you feel it will work for you.First backup and upload to your new server. Do this by going to your cPanel > Backup, and backup entire directory and FTP to new account. Once the file FTP is complete from your cPanel, access your Xisto - Web Hosting cPanel and unzip that file. Move to appropriate directories and you're set.Second, using the same backup link from Xisto cPanel download your database backup. Open Xisto - Web Hosting cPanel and use the same link, Backup, to restore your database. Check your MySQL access permission and you're all set. -
Additional modification to the shoutbox was made today. skin_d22shoutbox (Non-Default Group) > ajax_updates <!--shoutbox.smilies = {{$d['smilies']}};--> This eliminated about 8 java console errors. Keep testing the board to reproduce the error you have been encoutering. LOG: This modification disabled Admin (only) to moderate shoutbox from the board index page. Using IE, ENTER does not automatically shout--one must click on "shout now." One can live with this inconvenience if it means all our members can post without a problem. Next step to correct this measure would be to disable shoutbox in all page except for the board index. Members can use the shoutbox exclusively via http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

The above post was successfully made by Watermonkey, the one of few who had posting and sending PM issue. He was able to post the above post without getting logged off. Also he was able to shout without encountering "unknown error."This led me to believe that my hunch was right all along--AJAX Shoutbox was the culprit. But before thinking that the solution is found, I'll keep this topic open for others have the chance to test my "fix."

Authorization mismatch - please go back and try again. If you have been trying to access a function incorrectly, please use the proper method You have probably came across this error message. If you have not count your lucky stars. But for those who are still facing this annoying issue rest assure that we're woking on a solution as fast as we can. This error is not from upgrading our forum board to the recent 2.2.1 version but a new security feature called "stronghold" developed for this board by IPB company. Before we go on, let's discuss how stronghold is used with the board: when you log into the forum, an authorization key is created based on your registration date and your email stronghold cookies session is created with your authorization key along with your IP address if your IP changes due to proxy service, the cookies created for your session is no longer valid and thus terminates your current log in status you must close the browser and re-login to establish the proper cookies session Proxy server can change your IP address without your knowledge. Whether you're using the actual proxy service or your ISP has you connected with their own proxy, this can cause sudden IP address change. Not all users might be effected but if you are an AOL user the rate of IP shift, reassign, is greater than those who are with other broadband services. Try these steps if you are an Internet Explorer user: place http://forums.xisto.com/ as trusted zone by going to Tools > Internet Options > Security > Trusted Sites > Sites try disabling privacy or security software running which might block javascript of the setting of cookies. Some anti-virus, ad blocker or firewall programs can block cookies from being set from off line place. clear cache, cookies and all offline files. This is important! close the browser and reopen to visit Xisto If you are a Firefox user: place Xisto.com as ALLOW by going to Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies (check accept cookies from sites) > Exceptions > type Xisto.com and click ALLOW close the browser and reopen to visit Xisto The error was reproduced when I tried to post this message the first time. It took me about 30 minutes to write and then poof it was gone. As further search went, I found that sometimes the session control is set to 3600 seconds from inactivity. So I am not sure if prolonged typing can cause my session cookies to become expire...? One thing is for sure, do not forget to log out before leaving our board. If the old session cookies exists and you're trying to post, the newely created cookies and old cookies will not match up. So in order to have valid session, you should log out to clear the old session cookies. We understand your frustration. Although this seems to be isolated to localized computer, we are working on this matter and creating a fixed solution as soon as possible. But in the mean time please report your error by providing the following information: -what browser and version you are using -what OS you are using -have you tried posting/pming using a school, work or library computer -what other browser(s) you have tried, if any Thank you.

How To Make Firefox Faster If You Have A Broadband
BuffaloHelp replied to mukund's topic in The Internet
I don't know which version you are using, O H, but I think by copying over browser.js file under C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\chrome for Firefox verion 2.0.0.1 will copy over the browser setting. So install one FF version, set it however you'd like and then copy this profile file. You can then use command shell or script to distribute it network wide. For locating for other verions try this reading https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/ -
Hosting Approval And Activation Resumed
BuffaloHelp replied to BuffaloHelp's topic in Alerts, News & Announcements
Thank you for your understanding, folks.-King- was able to successfully create his hosting account at the time of this post. For those who have been waiting for account creation, please go and activate it now.Welcome to Xisto Free Web Hosting, No Ads! -
I was hoping that would have been the solution. The next is to edit your registry...which I do not recommend This article is simply asking you to uncheck those options under the configure window.

Getting Free Cokes getting free cokes from coke machines
BuffaloHelp replied to fr0z3n's topic in General Discussion
Hummm... it's not illegal because it's the fault of the company. That's some interesting ethical statement. So if I forget to lock my door all the way or leave my window open, anyone can enter my house and take whatever he/she wants and it would my MY fault for leaving it unlocked? Since when stealing is morally correct under the circumstance? Is this the new generation's idea of fairness and law abiding citizenship?I'm going to leave this open since I cannot believe this post was thought to be a Tutorial. -

As it was posted under Alerts and Notices, our forum suffered database loss. So it looks like we're set back 2 days from the day the forum upgrade started.I'm sorry for your loss of your topics. Please post them again.Thank you.

*THIS DOES NOT EFFECT CURRENT HOSTING ACCOUNTS*We're in the middle of forum upgrade. Xisto upgraded to newer IPB version and this took some toll on the database. Newely requested and approved requests are creating hosting account, but the forum is not showing as [HOSTED] group. If anyone here has activated hosting account from Xisto but your forum account does not state as HOSTED group, please contact admins immediately. Your account will be terminated in few days so save everything.AstaHost did not upgrade to the newer version, yet. But just letting you know what might happen during and after the forum upgrade. Thanks for your patience in advance

*THIS DOES NOT EFFECT YOUR HOSTING DATABASE OR CURRENT HOSTING MEMBERS. ONLY FOR NEW ACTIVATING HOSTING ACCOUNTS* Dear Xisto members This comes right after the forum upgrade. Looks like the forum upgrade took a huge toll on the forum database. Thus, it's resulting improper connection and exchange between your forum account and your hosting account. If you have activated your hosting account after my approval and noticed that your forum account did not say [HOSTED], your account will not exist after this post. So, until further notice please refrain from activating your hosting account. All new requests will be on a hold until OpaQue can fix this problem I am sorry for your inconvenineces. The following accounts were purged: (in the name of cPanel) gibson has no account accociated to forums xcbx has no account accociated to forums kuchkuch has no account accociated to forums king has no account accociated to forums ud has no account accociated to forums Notice from BuffaloHELP: For an update please click here http://forums.xisto.com/topic/44918-hosting-approval-and-activation-resumed/

No. Server name meaning Theta or Kappa. This name is shown under your cPanel, left side menu General Server Information.Once you give that name, perhaps OpaQue can see what went wrong.
-
Database information is backed up already in compressed mode. This means you can download a single file and upload to your destination using your FTP software OR another hosting cPanel and do a DB restore. Currently I do not know of cPanel able to send just the DB backup via FTP.
-
So I'm guessing you haven't received my PM regarding your locked account, today?
-
We apologize for loss of your credits. Looks like your hosting account is back in action. Thanks for your patience and continue to support Xisto.Topic closed.

If what you are asking is, can your files from Xisto (which is now no more) hosting account be transferred to the Xisto - Web Hosting account? No. When your group status goes from HOSTED to Members, this means your hosting credit exceeded -30 days. After 30 days your account is automatically deleted from the hosting database and all information relating to your hosting account (files, email, domain) are erased.
-
Let's understand hosting credits since you have not read through Xisto Readme. It requires 30 hosting credits to activate the default Package 2 free web hosting. Once it's activated your hosting credit is reset to a default amount (anywhere from 0 to 3). So you have not lost a whole month of hosting. Let's not forget that you have not activated your hosting. You simply lost hosting credits that were needed to activate your hosting.Obviously you do not understand how the initial hosting credits work so I am going to be patient in answering your emotionally charged words. But remember this: keep your agenda within a specific topic and keep it focused. Do not mutipost your loss in this topic as well as in another. The suggestive path has been explained and if you are not satisfied, I regret for your short staying. This topic has been discussed till its death. Closed.PS If your attitude was any different I would have given you your hosting credits back once you became a HOSTED member. Only HOSTED members can transfer to another HOSTED member. Now I'm not so sure...
