Yes, the new forum and old coding is not matching. It's calling for older variable that the new forum version is not recognizing. Everything should operate normal even witht he top error code... I thought I made this issue known and addressed..? No? :POpaQue knows of this issue and will fix the error when he is finished with other priorities. Thank you.

Go to your Options > Edit template from Cutenews administration login. Make sure you're editing DEFAULT template. Click on ACTIVE NEWS <div style="width:420px; margin-bottom:30px;"><div><strong>{title}</strong></div><div style="text-align:justify; padding:3px; margin-top:3px; margin-bottom:5px; border-top:1px solid #D3D3D3;">{short-story}</div><div style="float: right;">[full-link]Read more [/full-link] [com-link]{comments-num} Comments[/com-link]</div> See the {title} ? You can add different colors to that. If you prefer instead of <strong> replace it with <h1> or whatever and define the color and style using your regular CSS. It's simple. Apply similar changed to any area you wish to change. Under the same template, click on COMMENT and change to your liking.

The recent downtime of gamma server was on March 2nd. Server was restarted after data restructuring. Other than that, there's no report of actual downtime. Always check the server/network status by going to the forum top menu, XISTO > server/network status. If you were referring to these time frames, between last week of Feb until yesterday, Xisto added new servers to hosting accounts, dedicated SQL server to minimize DoS that shuts every hosting account down, PHP and SQL version updates and other regular maintaining services--including forum upgrades and hosting account upgrades for all Beta account holders. Allocating and restructruing data, upgrading every member's hosting account takes huge load and possiblely caused in slow connection speed. March 2nd's downtime was a manual reboot of gamma server.Your hosting should be up and running but as far as your cPanel loading slowly is unknown at this time. I'm not sure if this is an isolated case or network wide. I personally don't have any issues loading cPanels using gamma server. In the past, some firewall software were reported to slowdown the load and operation of a cpanel. As this may be the case, test to see if disabling your firewall would enhance the loading speed. If true try adding your domain name to your firewall trusted access zone (all cases vary depend on software).

Trap17 Graphics Forum Skin
BuffaloHelp replied to BuffaloHelp's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Unless OpaQue sees that it's unnecessary, you may suggest skins that fits GFX section.CrazyRob was developing some graphics skin themes. I installed this skin to show how each section can have different skins. This was available from v2.1.x but I was told to wait until the forum's next major upgrade. As long as skin can be loaded fast I will take all suggestions. As you can see, even this Graphite loads slow compare to what the author claimed. Since I'm not even sure if this skin would serve as the final skin for GFX section I will not modify it much further. Just wanted to give you an idea. But the dark background does suit better for graphics feeling and easy insignia identification. -
This is Graphite Dist skin set that would be applied to GFXTrap.com Forum only. One interesting thing about this skin is that the usual Navigation Bar is now set as "COLLAPSE MENU" and "EXPAND MENU." The default navigation bar menu will be shown to the left of the forum. It will have the basic jump links, unlike the main board's detailed dropdown menus. Please comment on look and feel of this skin. Again, this will be applied only to Graphics sections. Also PM or report any bugs. Question About Hosting A Dev Environment
BuffaloHelp replied to sniperkiller's topic in Web Hosting Support
IF you are going to run a forum and store scripts, that is under the AUP of hosting requirements. Your forum can be seen as an active site (not parked, redirected or used as storage). As long as your scripts do not hurt our server such as open for massive attacks, overloading CPU usage/resource, or even your forum is used to send mass spam emails, you can continue to host with Xisto. Otherwise, your account will be terminated without any notice. Maintaining the security of your forum and activites are part of your responsibility--we had to shut down few sites due to mass spam emails and DoS in the past. So, now that you know what you can do with our hosting welcome to Free Web Hosting, No Ads by Xisto - a member of Xisto. -
Question About Hosting A Dev Environment
BuffaloHelp replied to sniperkiller's topic in Web Hosting Support
Python is not supported default language with Xisto hosting. Whenever possible, please use PHP or CGI.You may install Python on your hosting account. This will be a localized installation (not a server wide). However, the first sign of abuse in any way your hosting account will be suspended. The term abuse is evaluated by server admins and they reserve the right to cancel your hosting without any notice. Please review our hosting TOS and AUP. You may not use Xisto hosting just to store scripts, images, files and such. You must have working web site that is common for any domain. -
Suggestions For The Hosting Request Process
BuffaloHelp replied to .:Brian:.'s topic in Web Hosting Support
Thank you for your suggestion.Trap17 is currently running a test free web hosting request form. This module was designed by CreatedInvision.comand topic creation function is based off of code written by Mohamed. But since this module was written for a general application submit, this module still lacks many features. However, showing member's email address has its benefits. When a member forgets which email was used to register he or she can always go back to the request and "refresh" the information. That goes the same for cPanel name. Admins receives many requests, "what's my username because I forgot since I haven't accessed it in a long time..." I also know that OpaQue made spiders not to cache Free Web Hosting Request sections. If you prefer, please PM a moderator to have your sensitive information blocked out.I wish IPB was simple enough to take it apart and slap a module that would make free web hosting request to be seamless. Perhaps Xisto can launch a customized module project for Xisto and Xisto. -
Well, we all have good days and bad days. Just mark it as one or the other and move on :POur community appreciates and respects all contribution made to our forum. So we do not practice deleting any post made by our members--unless they are spam. So if you do understand that we're keeping this topic available not to set this as an example, but to open the gate to fresh discussions to come it would be great.Thanks.

BuffaloHelp replied to TypoMage's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
TypoMage, Although GFX Crew are headed by other moderators, I believe you can help them really establish good strong team. Perhaps you can practice with our GFX Crew and re-apply in short future? :PYou can do this! Keep up the good work and it doesn't mean you can't contribute although you do not have the T17 GFX Crew title. Help us fulfilling sig/banner request in the mean time. Okay? -

From the remote computer, have you installed network printer driver? If a computer A has the USB printer installed, a computer B should have the same printer driver installed as network printer.

Ah, I was going to move to Graphics section until I realized it's regarding forum avatar. Please specify in your title next time :PIf you uploaded to the forum gallery (your album) it converts all allowed file formats to JPG format. Thus, it will not animate. To have animating avatar store them on a off-site, i.e. ImageFilez, and provide the link instead of uploading or linking to your own album.

As you probably know already, the DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME (DST) in 2007 will change as The Energy Policy Act of 2005 takes effect in the U.S. and Canada. In a nutshell, the new DST will start on the SECOND SUNDAY in MARCH (instead of 1st Sunday in April) and end on the FIRST SUNDAY in NOVEMBER (instead of the last Sunday in October). So starting this year, the DST (a.k.a. "summer time") will start on 3/11/'07 and end on 11/4/'07. Your computer's operating system must be able to automatically adjust the time according to the new DST schedule. Computers at your work place should be taken care of by your IT department. For your own computer(s) at home, you must install an appropriate update for your OS... Just a little useless(?) trivia and fun...In Microsoft Windows XP, there is a cool music track hidden deep in the system directory. C:\Windows\system32\oobe\images\ File: title.wmaThe 5:24 track is titled "Windows Welcome music." If you have good speakers or headphones, the bass is pretty awesome. This composition is actually from the Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 installation CD from 1996. Microsoft included it again in 2001 in Windows eXPerience, a.k.a. XP. You may recall that it plays automatically in the background when you install the OS for the first time.It is rumored that this piece was composed by Brian Eno, the father of electronic Ambient Music, who wrote that famous Windows 95 start-up sound for Microsoft (using his Apple Macintosh computer).

Frontpage Extensions Trouble It wont work

I have been using SMF and it's been pretty close to the "behavior" of IPB. I actually like it. There are mods available for inserting banners/advertisements and it is as easy as few clickes here and there.myBB has been gaining the popularity among phpBB users. myBB users are claiming that it is easier to install than phpBB with better capabilities. Perhaps I'll try this soon as a test board but myBB is not available through your Fantastico. So for now, I would have to say SMF using Fantastico. Maybe I should install demo boards for all available forums using Annex?
-
Yes, OpaQue is aware of this problem. But he will not get to resolve this until he is finished with other priorities. This is caused by IPB changing some commands from v2.1 to v2.2. The links called upon is either not available through the new v2.2 skin or the variable used, i.e. index.php?act=..... has changed thus giving that error. And since the rewrite mod for friendly URL, OpaQue will have to address this problem when he can devote more time strictly on forums (rather answering emails for support and questions).Thank you.

Trap17 has the latest released stable version of cPanel. By older if you mean the "skin" the current cPanel them skin is purchased theme to bring all levels of cPanel users to effectively utilize all resources. Just because it does not resemble the "tech" looks it does not mean it's an older version. Current information: This is found on the server information side of your cPanel (bottom left). What you don't understand is that cPanel and WHM need to be purchased for Xisto free web hosting accounts. Without WHM your cPanel is useless since WHM controls your individual accounts. So just upgrading cPanel, as you might think, involves more process than you would know. The upgrades are performed when server admins finds them deemed to fit. Fantastico is the 3rd party vendor that is attached with cPanel. Thus Xisto or cPanel has control over what versions of preinstalled scripts are available. That's why upgrading scripts, such as WordPress, is perfomed as easily as possible by WordPress builders.

Which University Is Best For My Field Of Study? suggest one
BuffaloHelp replied to hiway's topic in General Discussion
By solar energy application, that is more technical school than optics. So any high-tech universities would do just fine. Rochester Institute of Engineering, Virgina Tech, Stanford University, Cal-Tech...etc All these schools are excellent for your solar research. However, for optics field nothing beats Stanford. Professor Dr. Hanrahan, who has been working very closely with my company in developing programs and techniques for computer generated graphics in relationship to light and optical device, i.e. camera lens. And he is just one of hundreds of professors in Stanford that their researches are used from private sector development to national space programs. I suggest getting a book by Barron's college review and read on other information. Or, visit their online portals. -
I too have to go with CloudSSJ. The sig is just amazing. It's a fresh look to the graphics forum and my eyes were fixed on it immediately. I think the GFX Crew have a possible candidate Some awesome works were submitted this SOTW. Keep up the good work guys!

The proper question is: which IP should you list it as trusted? The answer is your domain, of course; not Xisto. However, your sub-domain provided by Xisto can be found by pining your sub-domain name. Start > run > cmd And type This will show your sub-domain's IP address (which is the IP address for gamma server)
