1. I think you are forgetting the one simple thing: is your CPU over heating? From what you have described the way it restarts even before it goes anywhere sounds like your CPU isn't getting cooled enough. The system froze with even the mouse icon disappearing sounds typical of CPU over heating. And I don?t know about you but it?s hotter than hell over here. So, are you able to vacuum out the dust inside your case and fans and provide good ventilation with cooler temperature. Then, give it a go. Let us know how that goes.
2. Few questions before I ramble about my theory:1) did you install/update any software/driver before this happened?2) when freezes, do you see any sign of hdd light flashing?3) how do you restart? (unplugging or press and holding power button for 3-5 seconds)I guess the best way to fix Windows faulty boot is to insert your Windows XP start up disc. After the utility loads up (the famous blue screen) select the option to repair. Go to the command line and type chkdsk /f or you may let Windows fix the problem automatically--this option is before you get to the command line. If chkdsk /f does not help, try chkdsk /rUsually when Windows XP cannot load, inserting the start up utility and letting it to fix Windows files only it will leave all other data intact.Let us know how it goes.
3. I'm not trying to be sarcastic. But perhaps through this time, you are learning how to "serve" people... perhaps you are learning to be kind, patient, not judging or humble. If the savior you believe in can wash the dirty feet of His followers, I?m sure you can pickup after others. Look at it this way?you are helping out your dad to ease his ministry. It?s one less thing that your dad has to worry about. I?m sure you needed some place to vent out your frustration. Isn?t this a great place to do so? Welcome!Edit:corrected an adjective
4. Apple IIe HA! Beat that! :PI spent a small fortune to upgrade my stock video card to 80x25 column with 64Kb of video for $80 back in those days. It had:5.25 inch DS floppy driveTape drive (it tooke me 4 minutes to load a golf putting game)9" color monitorApple stylewriter dot matrix printerand sound card that had only BEEP and BE-BEEP with different pitchIt was a hand-me-down computer but I ruled the world with that back then. I had to use weird commands to list the directory. I think it was "category" or "catalogue" and it was very similar to Unix's ls command. I gave that away to my cousin and he ended up using it as a goal keeper.
5. I should have clarified my statement. If, for example, your copyrighted material in the United States is somehow found itself being used in the United Kingdom without a prior permission. The author of the said copyrighted material has to travel to the United Kingdom to file for court restraint and apply applicable copyright protection to have the United Kingdom's court to issue cease and decease from further usage. Therefore, the method in which this author had to travel the great lengths of trouble isn't quite international. Simply, in order to protect your copyrighted material, you have to prosecute the culprit AT the culprit's country. It's not like you can walk up to your local municipal office and files the claim, and that claim would reach all the way to the United Kingdom and a judge rules in favor of the plaintiff. Right? Thus, a copyright protection is not (and I use that term loosely) internationally sanctioned.
6. It's ironic we find an inanimate object to feel animated via cyber interaction. Looks like the more we are "hooked" on the fast pace of the internet world, the more isolated we become. And for those who cannot catch up with fast growing technologies they have nothing but to be left behind. Humans are strange creatures. We cannot be isolated for the long duration therefore we constantly feel to be connected to someone or some thing--i.e. the internet, cell phones. Yet, the more we spend the time replying to forums or chatting online aren't we isolating ourselves from the rest of the world? So, are we at the age where the old fashion human interaction--a social event such as community block party--has been replaced with interacting in cyber land?
7. As of July 17th, 2005 3:29AM GMT -5, your site is up and running. Both aidesigns.trap17.com and http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ are working fine. I will await for your confirmation and then close this topic.
8. I should have checked the facts before allowing this to slip by. The only one that's remotely close to what the topic starter claims is found here https://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/ What kind of obtuse information did you read, topic starter? Unless you believe that this person's vision is true, your post is nothing but spreading a rumor. Until you can present the factual information this thread is closed. PM any moderator with the factual link and this forum will be opened up for further discussion. Please continue this discussion with the correct facts at this thread.
9. I think to measure the actual typing speed in the real world, you cannot measure by just typing random phrases. Try this site: http://www.typingtest.com/ for online typing test that sometimes GS civil examiners are using. You really wanted to know how fast you type in the real world? This is it.
10. If you know the symptom why don't you try using a different FTP program. I use FileZilla--free software. Currently, your site is up and running. July 16th, 2005 2:21PM EST. [GMT -5]
11. The site in question is up and running. Topic resolved, thread closed.
12. Legally, you cannot do anything when the other party does not comply. At least when a copyright was proclaimed or applied, it is only protected within the country you applied in. And any amount of money you spend on lawyers to get your copyright enforced would be waste of your money--since there isn't a set international law to enforce copyrights. Especially with net materials--there isn't a good lawyer who can prosecute another for copyright infringement as of yet. You know, if there are any aspiring lawyers out there, specializing yourself as a international internet copyright can be some lucrative business.I'm going to go off topic here but follow this idea. You recall many stories about Singapore government caning other country?s citizens? Do you recall one American who got the boot? And the government of US couldn't do anything to stop it? Well because when you are in the country you respect and observe THAT country's law.So, getting back, if the country you are fighting for your copyrights does not support the same enforcements as your country, there's simply nothing you can do. Additional note: I've read on the thread that you do not need to apply for copyright. That is true. In a perfect world, my word would be good enough and everyone would respect it. But this world isn't perfect. The only way to have your material to be protected and enforced under the law is getting your copyright according to the law. Otherwise, it becomes he said and she said tug of war.
13. Sometimes you have to give time to let webservers propagate your subdomain address through out the net. You once were able to access your subdomain probably due to initial setup or some other fluke. But the rule is always wait 12~24 (or sometimes longer) to let your subdomain name to be PROPAGATED through out the web.Your site is up and running. I can see the default index page. Problem solved. Topic closed.
14. I like the one with the render. Very mysterious...like moi!Oooo..I especially like the font. Although I would like it to be BuffaloHELP. It's all caps for purpose. And where did you get the buffalo render? I like that pose and I have been looking for one for ages. I have been using the buffalo picture from the back of the new nickel (American 5 cent coin). The color scheme is very soothing. It almost resembles my personality. Thank you Johnny!
15. My thoughts and prayers are with the people of London and the whole Great Brittan. You were there when America was mourning, now it's time for us to be at your side.
On the side note, from now on if any post that cannot follow the starter of this topic and goes off topic will receive warning adjustments. The author specifically requested that "don't want [an] arguments about how the governments have treated this" and you dare to go off tangent?
16. I know that you are using online translator to post topics. So I'm assuming that you are asking how many hours per day each of us spend here. Looks like you are having some hard time keeping your hosting credits up...As you can tell, I am now hooked on TRAP 17. Whether I am at home or at work, my homepage is now set to TRAP 17. I can't get enough. It's hard to calculate how many hours. But I do know that whenever I am waiting at the airport, I am on TRAP. So figure I travel 4 times a week and there are 3 hours of lay-over...so at least 12 hours during my travel. Plus, about 4 hours on a nightly bases. So that's total of 40 hours per week I am logged into TRAP 17. ACK!!! I do have no life...Edit: clarified topic title by the topic starter.
17. I suppose it's safer--meaning when you say Hi in a chat line/date line, chances are someone will say hi back. The hardest thing as a new comer is breaking the ice. When was the last time you were in a public social event, let's say someone's party, that when you entered a room and randomly said Hi and received a warm reply back? Online dating is a safe zone for some people because you get to the main part of finding about a person before you experience the rejection. Often times, we reject others based on appearances. Online dating removes that fear of outer appearance and "supposedly" get right to the point--is your personality compatible with the opposite? It also creates safer buffer, I think. If somehow the relationship doesn't work out as intended, you can hide behind your computer screen and have easier time to break it off. All you need to do is click on "block" But what I think the main reason for a fascination with online chatting and leading to dating is that the words you see on your monitor takes whole new persona. Basically you create this image of the other person based on the keyboard characters you see before you. So, is that really falling in love with someone or falling in love with the idea of someone in your head? Something to ponder... Furthermore, the objective is clear in a chat/date line. You know what to expect when you enter "20's love lounge" or "teen chatline". People who are coy and tired of disappointments are drawn to straight, cut to the chase or honest titled place simply cut the BS out and get right to the point. When I was on a chatline, the word "cyber" had totally different meaning. Now mind you that was 9 years ago. Oh gosh it's been that long? So imagine my surprise when I saw this topic and read you were chatting since the age of 8. Boy, times are changing. I have not considered anyone from chatline to be my so called, "girlfriend", or given a thought to it. I was initially turned off by the whole idea of waiting until 8pm to talk to the one I love. Why couldn't we just exchange phone numbers? There was this entire cloak of secrecy that I thought, "if she cannot trust me now, when will she ever trust anyone?" And some people would embellish the truth. After discovering that the person who claimed to be wasn't to be, I was more upset at the fact that "online was the last place where people could be truly honest with one's deep feelings and share it with a stranger." When people claim that they have found a paradise, you kiss it good-bye because the few will always find a way to ruin it.
18. areawe,I decided to move that to General Talk section. As a moderator pointed out, you copied the majority of your information from some place else. If you understood the drama set and the complicated written script that was involved in making a Courtroom TV, why didn't you just write what you have learned in your own words instead of copying and pasting? When a majority of your post (I consider 51% to be majority) consists of quotes, it may be considered as spam.
19. Your situation was also brought up to administrators. Please hang on and administrators will resolve your issue as soon as possible.Thank you.
20. HA HA HA HA!!! I can't belive someone actually thought of this game. The way I was moving around that pond...it really reminded me of the actual behavior of a fish. I suppose they, fish, move like that to avoid from being eaten. This reminds me of Yahoo's Feeding Frenzy.
21. NASA is announcing that this mission is THE safest space mission ever. It's not because it's a better space ship (actually they are using the old shuttle) but the crews of Capcom are on extra alert and better communicating with each other. The previous (gosh, I can't believe it's been 3 years) mission failed because there was a huge break down on the human level. Failed to communicate the possible unforeseen danger and failed to bring it up as the foremost agenda to be addressed. Human error had faith on the "machine" to pull through. At the end, it was proven that they were all wrong. The shuttle behaved like any normal physical entity would--have a hole somewhere and break apart due to high amount of stress during reentry. The bodies were not found because they were all disintegrated during the reentry. There are hundreds and thousands of meteors striking the Earth every day. Yet, you don't see or heard them being found or creating a disaster. It's because they all burn up during the entry to Earth's atmosphere. I just wanted to stress the point that with Earth's gravity, its affect on acceleration, the friction cause by the atmosphere and the force exerted on an object is so great that any normal element will vanish without a trace. It gets THAT hot.
