  1. That would be a great start. When writing a letter of apology, please make sure you are writing from your heart and with utmost sincere repent. Make sure that your letter contains your plans for the future behavior, i.e. I will never go against TOS and posting rules. And simply wait until administrators respond with their decision. Please be sure to address it to "Dear Administrators" and include the proper topic title and the description.
  2. No, your application wasn't denied forever. You may sign up for another Xisto forum user name and try again. But this is not really encouraged. What is encouraged is that you make a formal and sincere apology to administrators and explain that your previous action will never happen again. Wait few days, during which you will post excellent contributing posts, and reapply for hosting. If you decide to take this road, I'll be sure to keep my eyes on yours and bring down your warning level. By the way, where have you seen requesting posts regarding obtaining a license illegally? I must have missed that one. I'll be sure to ban that member! Notice from BuffaloHELP: Since this topic is turning into question about a member's hosting, I am moving from Vent --> Question & Queries.
  3. I'm going to assume that you want to tape the segment of your game and turn it into some kind of demo video mix...?The easiest way of doing computer video demo would be to have your computer output recorded to a VCR, DVR or DVD recorder. And put it back to your computer and edit it with your software.
  4. Upon reviewing your warning and its comment, you asked for registration code (which is against TOS) and that request might have been the deciding factor for accepting your application. But that may not be the exact answer since I am not the administrator who reviewed your application.
  5. Hey that's not fair! In my formal occupation I was trained to "r34d" these words as fast as I can because, security for a company was depended on it. Just because I can read it, doesn't mean that I need to change my online life schedule. But then again, I was told I spend way to much time cruising around Xisto. HA~!
  6. Hi Steve, welcome to Xisto!I used to have a place in 168th on Hillside Ave. I visit from time to time to New York City to see my sister and my grandmother. But I rather live out here where I am--clean air and no traffic jam! ARGH! :unsure:Whenever there are any questions regarding Xisto and hosting, don't forget to search through forum sections under Questions & Queries and Hosted Memeber's Area. If all else fails, you are more than welcome to post a new topic. I have place few important links in my signature. Please be sure you know and understand them.Xisto is awesome! You will like it here. Looks like many musicians are finding themselves here in Xisto. We SHOULD really think about having a dedicated Musicians corner.Rock on, Steve!Edit: Oh one more thing, Yankees or Mets?
  7. There are 2 administrators and 22 moderators. Administrators names are in red and moderators names are in blue color. For members who are hosting are in brown/maroon and those who are not in black color.
  8. We have a posted topic regarding Xisto's IRC chat channel. Perhaps we should start from there. If the demand is higher and cannot be ignored, I'm sure administrators will consider building a separated interest section.
  9. You will not face any penalty until you reach 100% warning level. When you do (and I hope that you don't) you will be banned from this forum and your IP blocked. Which means you will never post anything on Xisto, again. The warning system is setup to alert you as a member to comply with Xisto's posting rules. During any alteration to your warning level, there's no way you will ever feel disruptions to your hosting service or denial of any supports. Take your warning as a visual nudge from administrators and moderators. Administrators and moderators will go around form time to time to review member's warning levels and when a member has been good (making quality posts and behaving oneself) for over 30 days, 10% warning is reduced and so on. The measurement you can take is make sure you KNOW the TOS and rules of this forum (can be found in my signature). Post contributing or supporting materials that can make this forum.
  10. I have no intension of second guessing your work as ill-intended...but having storm trooper as part of my signature--does that imply some kind of undertone meaning? ha ha haAm I THAT strict?
  11. Keep in mind that we are all volunteers at this forum: administrators and moderators. Only administrators are able to approve hosting and they are doing as much as they can on a single visit. They first have to review all your postings and grade them accordingly. So have more patience. We have members who did not complain about hosting acceptance for 4 days and they are quiet happy here. The member, who you think applied twice and got approved, is a member who cannot understand the rules of hosting application and thus, applied again. That member was gently directed to the process step and should be alright. By the way, that member applied way before yours so it only counts as one application (not two--the second one will be ignored). As long as your application isn't deleted, consider it as in the process of being reviewed by administrators. Can you imagine reading hundreds of posts a day just to approve a hosting account? When will then administrators have time to upgrade software, fix the forum and control the bandwidth etc for hosting members? What about their personal life? What about their work?
  12. It's possible. But it's also possible that imagining how it would sound like isn't working out. Would you be able to post a short sound-bite to listen over the internet? I remember badinfluence posted his music with a link and had very good interactions among members. As you may already know, your idea of pop might be different from my idea of what pop sounds like. I think of pop generally as happy go gilmore with inexperienced teenagers simply flashing daddy's cash for some attention. Heh, but that's just me. So with that state of mentality, the lyrics aren't too believable when talking about 'trials, tribulations and struggle to go on' unless I hear the music to back up the mood. Edit: A good example of what I am talking about is "Closing Time" by Semisonic. If you read the lyrics you might think that it's all about some drunken college kid not wanting to leave the bar. Or yet, judging by its chorus it's nothing more than some horny song. But accompanied by the music, you can tell that it's more than just exiting a bar scene. It's about graduating from one chapter of life to the next. And although you may feel it's comfortable being at a familiar place, it's time to "go out to the world." It can also be viewed as a life transition.
  13. Keep it attractive indeed! Would it be possible that your traffic increased due to some of the most beautiful people are featured at your homepage? HA ha! All kidding aside, it looks great! I like this color (skin) scheme better than the pervious one.

    Hi...

  15. I have returned to playing golf after 14 years of absence. I was, you can say, in the height of Golfer's score--8 under and won most of my age group's tournaments. And something happened and had to put it aside for a while. Just about four months ago I started to wake my body with ye old swing motion. I had to dust off my old clubs (now 17 years old) and get into the "feel" of the swing. Two days ago, I shot +22 on par 71 course. I think that's not bad for a guy who didn't practice at all for 14 years! Maybe I'm kidding myself. HA!My curiosity is anyone plays golf here to discuss about chipping and putting methods? In coming few months, I am thinking about releasing golf drawings to demonstrate technical aspects of swing motions. I'm not interested on which brand of clubs you have. I have seen people with $1,000 clubs and couldn't hit the ball. My clubs cost me zero (it was hand-me-down) from an old guy who used to hang around the range where I learned to play golf. And I still have it today, used it to win tournaments and probably will have it until it breaks.
  16. You will have to post in Free Web Hosting > Misc. Request section. It will cost you 10 hosting credits
  17. Here is how I set my email notification to topic/thread I want to be informed. First, go into your control and disable (unclick) the email notification. I disabled this because it will subscribe me to each and every topic I reply. Second, use Track this topic under the topic title and description. When you click on it, it will give 5 options to choose from: I find that Delayed emailed notification works for me.
  18. Letters and numbers cannot be copyrighted. The image of the content (by that image I mean the persona) can be copyrighted. For example, the math calculations cannot be copyrighted (such as 1+1=2). It's a fact. However, the discovery of new calculations (such as the area of a circle) can be copyrighted (and is, by the way). And because it is copyrighted, any other ways of explaining with your own words cannot be copyrighted (this is the "image of the content" I'm talking about). However, the author of the area of a circle decided to release it as a non-profit copyright, we are able to use it in a text book. But, since a text book is copyrighted if a person or a company decided to paraphrase THAT text book and deliver it very similar to (such as chapter 1 has 2 formulas and chapter 2 has 10 formulas--just like the original text book) it is infringing the copyright law. Again, here is where that image of content fits in.Taking your example, yes if you decided to rephrase the dictionary you most certainly can. However, if a dictionary you are rephrasing it has 1 million words and your dictionary has 1 million words, and the sequence of words (although alphabetical but words are identical in sequence without omitting some words) are identical you are infringing the copyright law of the publishers of that dictionary.
  19. Have some patience and give it a few minutes, hours. It will come back. As I type this reply I am able to access cPanel without a problem. Sometimes this happens (for reasons unknown) and why some members can access and some members cannot the same hosted server is beyond me. But, have a little patience.
  20. If you'd like to chat, that's what the shoutbox is for. Your post is considered a spam and this topic is closed.
  21. Yes, your post IS the first tutorial of PSP on Xisto. The tutorial section isn't defined as the tutorial section only found on Xisto either. As administrators and moderators are redefining each posting section, I'd like to promote that the tutorial section is for materials that can ONLY be found on Xisto. I believe that will make our forum the most unique forum of all. Keep up the good work and keep on posting!
  22. In a perfect world, that would be enough. However, if an artist or a fan decided to post the newest recording that can be easily accessed by public it gives free loaders an easier chance to make "pirated" compilations to make money--money that SHOULD belong to the artist. Copyright protection offers not only to protect a material from being used unintended by the original creator, but also to protect an image of the author (in this case as we focus on MP3's). For example, if you (the artist) created a song "to cure the world from hunger", but someone decided to remix your song and somehow twisted your message to promote "fight for your right to stay on top so that you don't go hungry--for any means of necessary, even to kill" that taints your image as an artist. And to a listener hearing your song for the first time would only think that such song (the remixed version) is your (the artist) true intension. Getting back to banning from hosting MP3's: due to possible tarnishing of artist's name (which is also copyrighted, by the way) the representative of the artist will go after such site and site owners for "reformatting" the good character's name. Furthermore, since the technology makes it possible to obtain an original work (such as downloading from a website) without prior written consent from an artist, it's a way (banning MP3's from hosted) to limit the spread (distribution) of a material. No webmasters would like to sit in front of a court room battling out law-suit that may cost $700 an hour. Simply, no one wants to pay for someone else's misconduct. I suppose you can say that copyright is all about the Benjamins...
  23. I did not like it when I personally received 5 messages to the same thread... It's tough to define the correct ways to censor materials. Yes, the fair warning was given. However, I felt to remove the link because the expletive word was not needed to show the writing in blood AND show the bloody written effect. The censorship I made did not come from the whole content but, it (the curse word) wasn't necessary to show the total Photoshop blood like creation. By that mean, I suggested that you could have written "The First Blood" instead of said chosen curse word to "show" writings in blood. I hope that I am making it clear for my decision to remove the link. If you prefer to post, perhaps, the same picture with different writing, please feel free.
  24. Since you are already approved, go to this link https://support.xisto.com/ and continue the hosting application process.
