  1. Just to float few of my points here: By you calling him/her "fat Canadian" are you not also being prejudice? You are singling out that it's Canadian verses Russian. I believe your rant should be focused on why he/she was singling and referring to people as though each holiday celebrations were only observed by each student? I mean it could be that your teacher didn't want to offend anyone by leaving out the proper cultural holiday names. I know a Jewish kid that celebrates Christmas. And a white South African family who celebrates Kwaanza. And look at it this way, your teacher probably have something to prove--prove his condolences. He/she is a German addressing an African and a Russian (who happens to be Jewish also). I would be mortified to face you if I was a German, given the past history. Right?Give some room for understanding and give that teacher of yours a chance. Sometimes people mean the right thing but it comes out all wrong. And perhaps there's more tension between you two that you immediately mistook his well intension... I am not defending anyone. But we need more room for understanding if we're to beat any animosity between races, creeds and/or social class.
  2. If you missed the reply by OpaQue after asking your question, Realthor, here it is again (and for those who were listed by OpaQue for having issues with your hosting account when server shifted) http://forums.xisto.com/topic/30063-account-affected-due-to-server-shift/ Please be aware to read back your posted message for any replies.
  3. Before the year 2004 came US government ran a short lived campaign to help citizens with those annoying telemarketing calls, especially during dinner hours or worse yet after 9pm. https://www.donotcall.gov/ This is the official government site that you can go to and register your telephone number to be listed as one of numbers that if a telemarketer calls after 31 days of your registration, they can be fined with a heavy fee. This program only protects US residents and only if you registered with this site. There's an expiration date for this sign-up. It's 5 years from the day of your signing up. So don't forget to renew them before it expires. This program does not protect you from surveys, however. Telemarketing calls are specifically defined as calls made by companies that picked your phone number out of random or sold information to gain consumers. This does not protect you if you purchased a product and its company is contacting you or you gave permission to be contacted. How effective is it? Well, I have not received telemarketing calls in over 3 years. But I also watch out who I give my telephone numbers, especially when I fill out an application on the internet.
  4. Remember, when networking anything you must follow all your ABC's. are you in the same WORKGROUP? did you enabled FILE AND PRINTER SHARING (the computer that the printer is attached)? did you install the NETWORK PRINTER DRIVER (the computer that is printing remotely) ? Try these basics first and see if it works out. Installing the network printer driver on your Windows XP is very same as installing the regular printer driver, except that when you begin you specify that the printer is on the network. And don't forget that you cannot print without first turning your Windows 98 computer on and running fully.
  5. The algorithm was written by OpaQue and only he can tell or explain it to you. However, since it?s something he came up with that is unique you may not be able to get the full source. I have seen word counting add-on mods in Invisionize.com site. Try it there first. It only works with Invision Power Board.P.S. no need to sign off with your name since we can all see who you are. That's what your signature is for, in addition.
  6. Thank you for your suggestion. OpaQue will think about it once he is finished upgrading our forum to the lastest version of Invision Board. How exciting, huh? And all this for free... truly a great guy, OpaQue is.Once our forum upgrade's been complete we have few things we want to add to our forum and we shall consider your suggestion as well.Thank you.
  7. Gallery is working fully except for the thumbnail generator. What happened is that the link to the image was dynamic. But then I pressed it to change it to friendly URL and somewhere along the line the gallery lost the touch with the friendly URL. It's still looking for the dynamic URL instead. OpaQue rebuilt the thumbnail but no luck. But if you upload and use the right click and obtain the link from the property you can still use it as a form of image/video storage.
  8. moldboy, It is off topic but to quickly answer your question: you have to do all the transferring. This means you have to back up your Xisto.COM account and then upload it to Xisto - Web Hosting account and reset your database to follow the root of that hosting.Xisto or Xisto - Web Hosting will not do that for you. Sorry
  9. daxleet,See if you can enter into the safe mode. If you are not familiar how to enter, when your computer starts just hold on to F8 until DOS based menu shows up and select to be started in the safe mode. If your computer successfully starts in the SAFE MODE, restart the computer as normal to see if that fixes the problem. If not, you can always fix the booting information by inserting Windows XP (and I assume you have Windows XP) setup disk and choose fix widows. This option will not harm your existing files and programs. The last resort before reformatting the whole thing is to revert back to last known good boot up by performing the restore option using registry restore. It's under your Start menu.Hiaito, Please be kind with your words and do not express antipathy. Thank you.
  10. HA HA! I found this topic by accident! Wow a fellow Buffalonian eh? Well I hope there are more of us around. I would be nice to have Xisto members over for some Bar Be Que someday...Buffalo, or Western New York region, summers are not that hot actually. Because the humidity is lower than let's say New York City, Miami or Los Angeles that the Buffalo summer is actually quite enjoyable. And when it gets too hot, a summer shower is right around the corner to cool it off and just like that, the temperature will fall 10 degrees. Winters are cold, however, but I like snow so I have no problem with that. You have to make the best of what you have, you know? The reason Buffalo feels like fish fries are everywhere is because Buffalo is hometown to many Polish Catholic descendents. And if I remember my religion studies, Catholics practice avoiding consumption of red meat on Fridays--well at least the priests do. So it was born; fish Friday. Buffalo is home of not only the best Buffalo Wings (the origination of deep fried chicken wings mixed with special hot sauce or BBQ sauce, and not what Jessica Simpson thought as the actual wings of Buffalos), served with blue cheese and celery sticks, it also features one of the best beer battered fried fish menu. You think the English knows about fish and chips? Well, come down to Buffalo, New York and try beer battered fish with curly fries. Mmm mmm good!
  11. The point system you are referring to will never be integrated to our forum. If you are interested in our free web hosting with no ads, one of the ways to sustain your free hosting is to be active in our forum and earn hosting credits. The other is to contact OpaQue and purchase hosting credits. If you find that it's hard to be active in our forum, you may consider purchasing $10 a year plan or higher... check out https://xisto.com/ for more on that. If there are more questions please feel free to post in this thread.
  12. We have few members who registered with eurodns and they have had no problem using our nameservers. I hope it was just a glitch on that day... if you are experiencing additional issues please reply to this thread.
  13. TRAP17.NET is hotlink protected and cannot be disabled. This was to prevent Xisto.NET to be created only for file storage purpose.jlhaslip has the best idea. Use Xisto.COM's Gallery to store your images if you have Xisto.COM as hosting. All other sites will be hotlink protected. That goes for your signature and all other images Xisto.COM forum related.
  14. We've asked you not to sign off with your name. That's what your signature is for. And 1 minute appart with the same IP. Nice... very nice. So now that you are busted, which account should be terminated?
  15. Humm... so let's see, andrescasta signs off but the forum name is kservice. And kservice replies to the reply supposedly towards andrescasta. Upon further examination, andrescasta and kservice share the same IP. So my questions are why have you cheated Xisto and who's account should be terminated?
  16. I have been contemplating the same idea for a very long time and I came to a conclusion that the cheapest reseller plans still cost $50 a month. I have found few places that will give you small reseller account but you have to post few hundreds to be qualified and keep posting required posts per week/month. So, the time, effort and electricity bill costs more than $50 a month. Therefore paying for a reseller's account would be the best, I concluded. However, this reseller account was on a shared server. So if some other moron's account member screws up so badly that the server needs to be restarted, the entire accounts under that server are affected. The question is would your clients be alright with that? I know mine would not. And there's another question of how much would you want to profit from this service. Unless you are offering tremendously generous web space and the bandwidth (like 500mb~1gb and 3gb~10gb BW) you have to compete with other $5~$10 a month prices. Even then, OpaQue can offer 2gb and 33gb BW for $3.33 a month. So, is it worth having your own reseller's account? Only if you are willing to take on hundreds of clients and willing to invest initially, knowing that few months later you will see some profit. Every way I calculate, there's no profit in reseller's account unless I am willing to eat the initial cost and willing to wait. And for 12 or less clients you are better off talking to OpaQue about a shared web hosting plan. List of services OpaQue is offering: Domain Name reseller's offer Simple and fast service Windows shared account Dedicated server offer
  17. ARRRGH!!! I got suckered in and got myself MySpace. I hate it! I only got it to indulge my friend's curiosity. He wanted to meet few hotties around his area. So not to look as though he was a total loser, he made me sign up and added me to his buddy list. What a corn ball... I had to fake things and look interesting to boost his "friend circle." Oh god how slow that site is! So many restrictions! So many things going wrong and can't be displayed! Whoever owns the site is probably laughing because I'm sure the site is making money hand over a fist but for all other users I'm sure it must be very frustrating experience. And what's with pictures of professional escort like ladies? I guess that's the very reason my friend got into it. Do I dare the same connection as my friend is hoping for? HA HA!
  18. steven,Due to your duration of absence, your hosting account is no longer valid. You may reapply for a new one since even knowing your old ones will not do you any good (they are deleted and terminated).Reapply and you can start over fresh.Thank you.
  19. Again, read through the forum and you'll find that the server is undergoing some modifications and your database will be interrupted. However, your simple html pages are not affected.Just hang tight everybody! This will pass very soon.
  20. If you paid attention to hosted member's section lately, you will find that the server is undergoing some upgrades and many members are experiencing some difficulties. No need to cry about it or cause any panic. Just be patient and it will be resolved as soon as possible.Anything database related are affected. Any simple html pages are not affected.Thank you.

  23. Before he was Mr. Miyagi, he took over Arnold's place in Happy Days. He was quite a comedian those days, especially when having an Asian American actor on the television screen was tough after the World War II. In fact, I believe he was one of the first minorities to appear in the sitcom who were not African Americans. He set the level of equality somewhat high and straight.
  24. Please search the forum before making a new topic. Continue the discussion here http://forums.xisto.com/topic/30513-pat-morita-aka-mr-miyagi-pass-away-he-was-73/ This topic is closed.
  25. Before you get jumpy, just hang tight and check all the facts. I believe OpaQue may have took the database off line to work on issues/upgrades. Try not to post this kind of response until you have all information. It creates chaos for other members.
