I'm afraid no. Since providing a service to bypass what is protected by patent, copyright and laws your site will be considered as a crack site. And Xisto does not host for crack sites.Any information--instructions, pictures, downloads and URL links--that complements in modifying a patented and copyrighted material/machine are therefore, also cannot be hosting using Xisto's service/hosting.

Buffalohelp & Wassie NEW ADMINISTRATORS
BuffaloHelp replied to OpaQue's topic in Alerts, News & Announcements
I didn't reply to this thread not because I was a snob but I didn't want to toot my own horn...ya know? I truly thank you all for your support and kind words. I will do my best to serve Xisto as well as I know how. But I think this topic has been read and seen so it's time to close it up. What do you think? -
It's not everyday I come across a site that really perks my brain. I have heard about people's fascination with the time capsule but this was just smack in my forehead brilliant marketing strategy--basically a tactic to gather more email addresses. Yes, I am that much paranoid about my privacy http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ This service is offering to send you whatever message you want to send in 1, 3, 5, 10 or 20 years from the day you mail it. Whoa! Come again? I don't even know if my website will last that long never-the-less have the same email address that long. I suppose I shouldn't give my domin.com email address... say, there's a gmail and yahoo account that I'm pretty sure it will last that long Now those are great services! Give E-Mail Time Capsule a shot and see if it really sends you in the time mentioned. But at the same time see if you receive spam emails from Forbes or money market related spams. PS what would you tell yourself if you are sending to your own address? would you care to share it with us?

shaneroche, Please do not go off topic. As a moderator I have to foresee every possibility of what can go wrong. Do you read the original post? It says to download...that's the key word I was moderating. When the next post says I downloaded but I need the key or serial number, that's the very topic I was warning. And what if another member starts, 'I have this DVD and I don't know or can't make it to AVI' I had to make sure I set the tone of this topic discussion. If you would like to discuss Copyright please see this topic http://forums.xisto.com/topic/24076-copyright-protection-what-iscopyright-protection/ And by the way, we are all aware of the right to have 1 back-up copy of each DVD that you own. But the U.S. millennium digital copyright law does not sanction sharing the method of how.

Moderators and administrators (except for one) do not have control over the credit script values. However, what is clear is that once you reach a certain member rank the credit awarded per word/post is less than what you started as a newbie. But do not dismay and think about this: if you were to post 1 post a day that earned you 2 credits, and you make posts 4 times a week that's 8 credits per week. I make about 5 posts a day so that means I am earning 10 credits a day. But mostly I'm helping members out on the shoutbox so I spend quite a time on the forum but to make 5 posts, it take me less than 20 minutes I'd say...?So 10 credits per day times 4 days = 40 credits per week. I can be active for one good week and I can be free for the whole month. But if I stay active every other week, at the end of the month I'll have 80 credits earned. I truly think it's very fair.

Access To My Own Site I cant access my own site
BuffaloHelp replied to sunkist's topic in Web Hosting Support
As I said, only certain sites are affected and NOT ALL America <--> Europe sites. I PMed you the site that I cannot see. So sit tight until I have better answer for you. -
The only critique I have is that never assume that since your files are located in different directories it will be safe. Majority of viruses will infect as soon as you access the drive. For example, a virus was installed in C drive and you accessed D drive to open a file. Now your D drive is infected. Virus works on the principle of READ-WRITE exploit. When you restore using Windows Restore Point, your files will still exist once restore is complete--that is if you saved it before restoration. What it will not restore is any installed program the point after the restore point. That means Windows Restore works off of your registry backup data. The program itself will still reside within your hard drive but your Windows OS will not recognize it as a valid program, thus you cannot use it unless you reinstall the program. In the past, I have captured some viruses that destroyed the master boot information or the partition information. When that occurs you are screwed. But other than that, you are in good shape especially with Norton Ghost. It's better than any average network clusters I have seen.

Access To My Own Site I cant access my own site
BuffaloHelp replied to sunkist's topic in Web Hosting Support
lol you don't trust me that I can see your site, eh? Okay I'll include the screen shot of your site. Click here (the picture will be removed in the future) And I cannot see the site that is hosted in UK started from last night, too. And come to think of it Goosestaf said that he couldn't see his page for about 6~8 days. And that's the exact same time for me when I couldn't see the page that's hosted in U.K. And it's a webhosting server. -
Access To My Own Site I cant access my own site
BuffaloHelp replied to sunkist's topic in Web Hosting Support
I can see the link you provided just fine. Web page titled "Startsida" right?Okay this is what I think it's going on. If you are from UK or Europe region there's another member that is having the same issue. It's not Xisto's server but somehow resident of UK cannot connect to servers in California, USA. And the same holds true for me because I know a website based in UK and I cannot seem to access the page. This is not based on any conclusive evidence but either the cache server is going through some kind of update/upgrade or a possibility of DoS attacks comes to my mind. The British service called NTL and BT are reporting that when times like this, use the proxy server service. On the side note, eBay is issuing the same recommendation.Stay tuned and see if this is region exclusive or something else. -
I pondered about this topic title and here is what I think. There's a statement What Is Alive or what is Life. What Is Alive--this to me asks the fundamental question of what is categorized or can be categorized as a live being or thing. It's a logical and rational part of our brain defining what constitutes as animate or inanimate object. What Is Life--this is more philosophical question and rhetorical at best. It's the quality of life that one can live. The standard phrases like, "get a life" or "you need life" states that life is filled with plentiful experiences and multiple subjects that a person can go through. And because it is a person depended out come, the answer to What Is Life can only define by oneself. You may have a life of working in the mine tunnel for the rest of your days but if that feeds your family, and send kids through education that is a good life. When you have all the resources in the world yet you rather sit by a pool and watch the time pass you by, then that may be a life wasted.

On the subject of spyware, I firmly believe in proaction rather than reaction. When you install Spybot Search & Destroy there's a section for immunization. There will be a link to install SpywareBlaster. SpywareBlaster blocks your browsers (IE and FF) from ever accessing known websites that exploits your browser to download harmful files or stop automatic installation of certain program(s). Proaction--if your browser cannot access these harmful sites in the first place, you won't catch the bug. You dig? http://www.brightfort.com/spywareblaster.html to download

Hello prashant, I'm glad you decided to join our forum and take advantage of free web hosting. There are few key elements that we didn't get to discuss on the shoutbox (I know...more rules) but these are designed to keep the boundary strong so that this forum does not suffer like most other forums have in the past--destroyed by foul mouth, disregards for others, and does not care members. Keep your post as though you are writing a paper--no excessive blank lines . Keep it clean and straight to the point. Hijacking or going off topic is also forbidden. Use correct BB codes. They are available when you are making a post--located on the left side "BB Code Help." Access To My Own Site I cant access my own site
BuffaloHelp replied to sunkist's topic in Web Hosting Support
E-Sector, I can see your Xisto site just fine. In fact you still have your default page up. And your E-Sector.3w.se is loading just fine. Since it's a redirect service (I'm assuming) did you set your target URL correctly? The 3w.se link sends me to a page title is that enough proof for you? -
Dear andyy,I truly apologize for not catching this. I have removed the direct links and offer you my sincere apologies oh behalf of Xisto. Although damage may have been done, please understand that one unregistered member's behavior does not reflect the whole Xisto forum. We do not tolerate copyright infringement and plagiarism.Thank you.

Avatar Suggestion For Admin And Mod from members
BuffaloHelp replied to truefusion's topic in Web Hosting Support
Man, these are some fantastic avatars! I wonder if we can do some kind of rotating avatars for moderators and administrators. We can use either St. Michael's or snlildude87's sig rotating scripts modified. And then anyone can submit and it'll all show up. Hummm what collaboration! -
Blazeruler,I can see your site just fine. You don't have your index file up so all I'm seeing is your directory...
-
Before you make this kind of accusation posts, please make sure that it's your user end issues. Check with your ISP, check your browser, check your modem/broadband and recycle the power. If some members can still use Xisto hosting service then it's not Xisto's issue is it?

Access To My Own Site I cant access my own site
BuffaloHelp replied to sunkist's topic in Web Hosting Support
I would agree to Avalon's statement for the some part, however, this time I disagree. I can see your site just fine, sunkist. Sometimes your ISP would do a server cycle and may take few minutes/hours to connect to every URL in the globe. Give some time, clean your cache and if you have cable/broadband modem turn the power off of that modem, wait 30 seconds and bring it back up as normal. -
CAUTION!Editing your registry without following or knowing how to back-up your registry may lead to unfortunate consequences. Be warned that this forum cannot be responsible for your attempt.Additional note that this method DOES NOT UNINSTALL Windows Messenger but merely prevents the auto loading when your Outlook Express starts. The program and file itself are still present. Do not misunderstand. The safer way of doing this is, since you've installed SP1 or higher, access Set Program Access and Defaults > Custom Instant Messaging > uncheck Windows MessengerIt's that simple. Editing registry should be the last resort when simple setting like this does not work.

Harddisk Problem i got 2 and 1 isnt working
BuffaloHelp replied to wassie's topic in Hardware Workshop
Hummm without knowing how you set your computer up it's bit hard to tell. But looks like Windows 98 issue to me. If your physical hard drive can hold 100GB but you formatted your drive using Windows format command, probably it formatted to only 6GB maximum. If this is the case, you should FDISK 6GB at a time until you run out of the space. In which case you'll have about 17 drives letters :PBut could you tell us more about your system settings (what OS, how you installed, how many physical drives, what software used to format etc)
