  1. I definitely would have to disagree that football (soccer in my country) is the king of all sports. It is a bit slow and a lot of controling the ball rather than taking lots of chances. I prefer hockey over soccer any day. Much more entertaining with all the hitting, fighting, break aways, etc. Plus, there is a good amount of control in it like soccer but much more shooting and oppertunity for scoring.

  2. Alright i have been running vista since it was released to corporate customers in december and i had RC2 before that. I have never had that issue or even seen it. You will get popups about installing programs and whether or not it is what you want to do but it really isnt annoy and they dont really make you wait. Most of the time when you are using your computer you wont really see those. I am an administrator for a corportate network and i still dont see those warnings that often and i use it all day long. You can adjust those settinigs if you understand how to add policies, etc. I have no complaints about vista and i like it much better than XP

  3. For anything you do, either Business or Ultimate versions will work for you. Ultimate has a few extra features that it only has and business does not. However, they both have the Aero interface. The business version is not just for people who want their pc to run business software since most businesses use it for more than just word and etc. It is meant for anything and everything a business will need and that is why a bunch of those extra features like games are not included in it.

  4. All the drivers are erased but when you install the OS then they will install default drivers that will allow you to access the internet and such to get the new ones. Secondly, motherboards, cdrom drivers, hard drives, monitors, etc do have drivers but you never will have to install them because they are actually built into the device. The only thing you could do is flash their firmware which isnt recommended unless you are having a problem.

  5. OK I am a software developer so i use C, C++ all the time. The first thing you will want to download is the Visual Studio Express. It is free from Microsoft and allows you to program in the Visual Studio IDE with the basic features which is all you will need. Then the best bet is to get a book and not use online tutorials. The reason is that books have exercises and will act as a great reference later on. I have most of my books from college still and use all of them time after time. Then read a chapter and practice it by wrtiing the exampls and trying to add stuff to them to make sure you understand the material because if you dont get the basics, you will never get the advanced topics. Good luck and if you need help, just let me know.O and to kinda explain what osknockout said about the STL, the STL is the Standard Template Library. It has a lot of useful algorithms but i would recommend not using it while you are learning. If you dont understand how they work and how they are written, then you are just setting yourself up for disaster.

  6. Well if you dont like it and want to know what it is installing, just have it prompt you when new updates are available. Basically, when new updates are available it will put the yellow shield in your taskbar. Then you can click on it and choose to manually tell it which updates to install. This way you know what is being installed and when you want the updates to install. Personally, i would rather have a secure system rather than not being annoyed but update options.

  7. Yeah i wouldnt ask her out if it is your first date. That never works out and also if she is that busy, that will be a factor. To be honest, see how the night goes and then maybe at the end ask her if she wants to hang out another night. If she feels the same way, she will make time for you otherwise you already have an answer. Secondly, asking someone out is more of a formality and not really needed. I have been dating this girl at school for a month or 2 and havnet asked her out yet. It takes time to get to know people and isnt really important about the formailities right away. I know she likes me back and I like her so we are exclusive anyway so what are titles? I tell people i date her and everyone understands. I guess it might be something that changes from high school to college but i just feel like titles are not important until you really know you want to be someone and know them well enough to make that decision

  8. There definitely are a few things i would change that some people have already mentioned and others that are new. First of all, reduce the height of the box links at the top of the page. They look stretched and kinda out of place. Secondly, validate your code and also i would get rid of the clock unlike what a few others have said. I think it looks out of place and is very pixelated and just doesnt fit the site. It is unnecessary and therefore not something you want on a professional site. If it was a personal site showing off your coding skills then it is good. Other ways, only put material that is too the point. Finally, besides adjusting some of the fonts and centering the page i would adjust your colors so they are autumn colors. Since this is the name of your site, you want to portray it with more than words. Black and white just arent autumn.

  9. Yeah you definitely are missing one of the best games ever and that is Final Fantasy 7. It is so well known that people have utube videos of it and reinact parts of the game. Not only did people play it for over 200 hrs and not get bored but it had the best graphics the ps1 could offer at that time and the best story and game play. You really need to look beyond your personal favorites and look at the majority of peoples favorites to have a good poll. No vote from me but 1 for Final Fantasy off the poll.

  10. As for stress, u just need to learn to deal with it and not let it affect you. There always will be stress but if its a due date, paying bills, etc. you just have to be confident that you can do it and the stress decreases. Other ways i deal with it is exercising, hanging out with friends, taking care of what is causing the stress before it is due so i dont have to worry about it.

  11. I have been using avast for a very long while now. First of all, in XP it does not use much RAM or CPU at all. The amount it uses is much less than McAfee and Nortons and it does just as good of a job. I strongly recommend it and so does where i work. Finally, it runs just as well on Vista and i have yet to have an error with it on that OS.

  12. Many people have said it is a power consuming OS and they are right in some ways and not others. For gamers, it doesnt affect you at all. The reason is that when an application (aka game) takes full screen mode, then all the resources your desktop widgets, transparencies, etc are using get removed and are restored when switching back to windowed mode. This basically improves performance for lots of games or atleast doesnt hurt it since you end up with equal memory or less memory being used over xp when in full screen.

  13. Check out the tutorial section and look for one on a webserver or a testing server (i believe that is the tutorial). This will tell you how to setup your own web server that you can write and test php code on. It walks you through how to do it and what software you need. They use a package called XAMPP that has all the software in it and installs it all for you. THen you just to change a few settings to get it working.

  14. I have 3 laptops but i would much prefer a desktop to atleast 2 of those if not all 3. First of all, it is nice taking my small and light laptop to class and on trips but it isnt much easier than a notebook since some classes like math ones you cant take notes on a pc. The reason a desktop is better is that not only are they more reliable but you can upgrade consistently with them. This allows them to end up being much cheaper than a desktop and much more versitale. The reason upgrade is important is if you play any games, after about 2 years you laptop can not really perform well enough to play anything new currently. There is hope since they are releasing external video cards sometime this year but in the end a desktop will still be better. The only time a laptop would be prefered is if you are a businessman who travels alot then you need a laptop. Besides that, there is no reason not to get a desktop.

  15. For her birthday, go for the flowers but i would say add something to it that reminds her of you and or is something she really likes. It doesnt have to be big but maybe her favorite candy or a mix cd of each others favorite songs. Then for valentines day, take her out to dinner and get her a teddy bear that is nice and soft that she can cuddle with. Be honest with her, cause people can always tell when someone is not truthful and it only will come back to haunt you. Good luck.

  16. In order to program on the GPU you have to use Shaders. It is the only way to gain access to the GPU since the GPU is only used in certain phases of the Graphics Pipeline (soon to be extinct in DX10). To utilize the shaders, you will want to learn a higher level shading language like CG, HLSL, or GLSL depending on the language you are programming with aka HLSL works with DX, GLSL with OpenGL, and CG with either of them. Since the GPU performs all operations in parallel you have to make sure your code is parallelized. Then you have to make sure your data is stored in a texture so that the GPU can access it and store it in the video memory. These are very advanced topics so before you even try to do something like this, learn how to use shaders in a simple graphical way like adding a glow to a mesh or something like that just so you know how they work.

  17. Here are my suggestions for your sites.1.) This site needs a ton of work. It needs a header, a menu on one side of the screen, a background (image or color) and some style to it. Right now it just is a whole bunch of centered text and links without any real organization. Make sure you put a little planning into the way you want the site to work and make a picture of it in photoshop or any other image program. From there, someone here can definitely help you make that reality if you dont know how to do it yourself. This way, the site will look good and be a lot less disorganized and messy2.) This site looked good but there wasnt really any content nor was there a purpose for it. I would make the background to the page black and not white. Secondly, i felt like flash was a bit unnessary here since it didnt contain anything that could have been done with simple html and css. By doing it in flash, the page loaded slower than it should have for what was contained in it. I would add some content and maybe just write it in html.3.) This site is exactly what the previous one wasnt. It utilized what flash was meant to do. It wasnt just flash for no reason. It has a good amount of content and looked nice. I would just change the overall page background to black so that it belnds with your flash applet better. 4.) It looked good but wasnt anything different from your first one minus it had content. I just think you are over using flash for what it isnt made to do and by doing so it is making your sites slower than necessary and actually making it harder for people to navigate through the content.Overall, 3 of the 4 need some work (sorry i didnt want to be this negative cause i usually am not) but on the bright side the 3rd site was everything that it should have been and maybe some more. The rest of your sites should follow the trend of that one since it appeared well planned, plenty of content and easy to use. Plus, it utilized flash and there really would not have been another way to make the site without it.

  18. I have had Vista installed since it came out for businesses a couple of months ago. I like it alot but there are some things you have to get used to. First of all, if you are an administrator on the computer, you have to run software as an admin to have those provilidges just like in linux when you run applications as root. If this bugs you, then you can turn it off under security policies but even though it does annoy me from time to time, it is way more secure so i have kept it. The user interface is very nice, much nicer than XP. It is smoother and much easier to read and see things. They also have made it easier to view your file hierarchy when opening a file, viewing it in Computer (not my computer cause they dropped the My infront of all the words now) and so forth. As for speed, for me it runs just as quick as XP does and actually performs better on the games I play. I was surprised since my computer is almost 3 years old and is a laptop so i have not upgraded it since i bought it. Just make sure you have atleast a gig of ram and 128 mb of video memory and you will be fine.As for pricing, it is steep. Wait a little while and they will lower it. Also, check out their website since i read that they have downloadable version of Vista and actually sell them cheaper if you choose to download it. I personally have not checked it out since i already have the OS but just figured i would inform you all. Also, if you are a student and you school has MSDNAA (Academic Alliance) keep a watch because Vista Ultimate or Business will be showing up there very soon.
