  1. I hope Google doesn't open to the public anytime soon. They've done some great things (starting with the search engine and beyond) and they've always got some new ideas brewing in their labs. Gmail is the best e-mail service available, in my opinion. I'm just afraid of what might happen should the organization go public.
  2. Hello, and welcome to the Trap 17 community! There are lots of topics and threads to suit your interest, so you'll have no problem building up the hosting credits to get your hosting. As well, the peopl here are very friendly and supportive. If you have a problem, fell free to contact any of the mods/admins. See you on the boards!
  3. I use Fireworks myself, and I wouldn't use anything else at the moment. Sure, Photoshop is an excellent graphics program, but not everyone has the $ to spend on it. The GIMP is great alternative. Although it has been buggy in the past, later versions have those problems fixed now (although there is always room for improvement). Anyway, I digress. Great job on the sigs. They all look great and can rival with any work done with Photoshop.
  4. Pretty good effort, but like a few have said before you might want to try anti-aliasing the text if the software you used has that feature. Other than that, it looks pretty good. Keep up the good work!
  5. I've graown to have tolerance towards smokers, even though I'm a non-smoker myself. Last time I heard (and correct me if I'm wrong), smoking was not allowed in many - if not all - public places in Toronto. Still, you'll find some people who "forget" to see the non-smoking sign and light one up anyway. Here in Japan, there is a much more lenient view towards smoking. There are no more cigarette vending machines in Canada anymore, but in Japan they're everywhere!
  6. Wow. Great design you have for your website...and made with Fireworks, too! It must have taken you quite a while since you tried about every feature to get the effect you wanted. Anyway...excellent work! I'm really looking forward to seeing it online in the near future.
  7. Welcome aboard! Glad to have more graphic artists in the community. You'll find lots of topics, threads and sigs that'll suit your interests. The people here are very friendly and can help you if you have a problem. Have fun and posts as much as like while you're here. See you on the boards!
  8. I look for a webhost with a very high uptime, a sufficient amount of space (as in more than 100 MB) and bandwidth, FTP access, PHP and MySQL databases. So far, Xisto seems to have all these features and then some...so I'm pretty happy with what the service and the forums.

    Hello

Welcome aboard! I believe I made a quick compliment on some of the quick sigs you made in another thread. Anyway, I'm sure you'll like the community here. The people are friendly and very supportive, and there are are a lot of topics and threads that'll suit your interests. So...have fun and post as often as you like! See you on the boards!
  10. Not too shabby considering you made them in a short amount of time. Can't wait to see your other works in addition to the "quick sigs" in this thread. Keep it up!
  11. I believe marriage is a difficult but important decision in one's life. As much as there are many young people out there who think it's not necessary, there are many others who believe the opposite. Marriages are based on faith, trust and a strong commitment. If you are certain that you can live with the woman or man for the rest of your life, why not take that big step?
  12. I used to take part in competitive swimming when I was in grade school. I could do free style, back stroke and breat stroke. It was only the butterfly that I had trouble with. I still like swimming even now, although I don't get to swim much. Overall, I'm glad I learned that skill, but I never considered whether I should continue to swim competitively.
  13. Welcome aboard, Jettison! I think you'll enjoy the community here, as the people here are friendly and reall supportive. Hope you have fun while you're here and we'll see you on the boards!
  14. Overall, I think Windows 2000 is the most stable Windows OS to date, followed by XP then Windows 98SE. My old laptop has Windows ME and although I haven't had any really bad experiences with it, I wouldn't suggest it over Windows 98 SE. Windows 2000 is built on NT technology, so that is one of the reasons for its stability.
  15. I think Trap 17 might be my final stop in my hosting history. Everything about it is great; the community is really helpful, there are lots of opportunities to maintain and build on the hosting credit system. I simply searched for a list of free hosting services that had no forced ads. Several other web hosts I tried before didn't have the space/features I was looking for or had tons of banner and/or pop-up ads.
  16. I don't think you'll have a problem building up the hosting credits again. Once you find a few topics that suit your interest (like General Talk/The Real World/Dating, for example), you can easily reply or start up a new threads.
  17. Wow! I really like the effect. I'll try it own when I get a chance to create a new sig/banner in the near future. Great tutorial!
  18. Since I tend to favour designs that are simple and don't have all the proverbial "bells and whistles", I actually prefer the second design. It looks really clean, although using more contrast might help your website a bit. Having said that, I liked the first design for its style...but I'll so with number 2 for its simplicity.
  19. Welcome aboard, ashton! I think you've found an excellent place here at Trap 17. The people are friendly and really helpful. Hope you enjoy your stay and that you visit often. Have fun and post as much as you like! See you on the boards!
  20. My old Playstation (North American model) has a mod chip that allows it to play games from Japan. A friend of mine did this for free, and he's also been able to do the same for the PS2.
  21. Welcome aboard! I think you found a great online community at Xisto. Everyone here is really helpful and there are many topics and threads to suit your interest. Building up the hosting credits is quite easy - all you have to do is make some good posts and you're on your way. Hope you enjoy your time here and visit/post as often as you like. See you on the boards!
  22. Thanks for the tips and the link to Free RAM XP. I'll probably need those, particularly for my old laptop that's starting to slow down a bit.
  23. I have both Ad-Aware and Spybot in my system. I believe the many of the problems have been solved, but there's always a few spyware programs that keep coming back. I'll try the Microsoft program as suggested earlier and see how that goes.
  24. Congratulations, Joer! Getting the hosting here is really no problem at all. Can't wait to see your website, whatever it may be about. In any event, good luck in creating the site!
  25. Wow! Nice to hear some positive feedback on my website. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to work on it since the announcement. Some members were wondering what Wordpress is - it's an excellent CMS (content management system) that's available for free! If you have hosting, cpanel has an earlier version of the program. So install that one first, then upgrade to version 1.51 available off the Wordpress website. In the meantime, I'll see if I can edit and/or create a new logo for the site - as well as the colour scheme.
