  1. While I was in Canada, Nokia was my model of choice.Since I came to Japan, I've gone through three brands so far - Panasonic, Nokia and now a new Toshiba (3G) model. For features, my new Toshiba mobile phone is my favourite. For simplicity/portability, the Panasonic (my first mobile phone in Japan) tops the list. Nokia was alright - at least it had a full colour screen and had a built-in camera (one of the first phones to have that feature at the time).
  2. As well, the webmaster can choose which page to have the ads on. Even if you don't want them on the main page, you could choose to have ona sub-page, like a gallery or a certain topic you love to write about. From what I've seen, if you have, say, a photo gallery page, then those ads will link you to photography websites. It all depends on the subject matter.
  3. Great find, but I must say 10 years is a long time - and anything could happen to the probe. Still, if it can reach Pluto it'll be another achievement for NASA and we cold learn more about this planet on the outskirts (so to speak).
  4. Wow! Xisto has reached 10,000 members already - and in such a short time, too! Great to hear that the community is expanding and we'll look forward to the moment when we reach our member number 20,000!
  5. The thing is that it's difficult to tell whether new members have read the rules thoroughly. As a result, we get a flood of questions here regarding that issue. The hosting credit system is pretty straight-forward, but at the beginning there may be some unexpected problems that a user has run into. (i.e. This happened, so what should I do next?)

    Hello

Welcome to the community, Richard! Glad to hear you like making computer graphics and websites - I think you'd make a great fit for T17. (There's a link to the new created graphics website on the forum. Check it out!) Hope you enjoy stay here, and we look forward to seeing more of you in the near future.
  7. Okay, this time I want to ask a quick question. As intruiging as these "make money online" sites seem, how many of them can pay in the local currency?. The reason I ask is that I'm currently living in Japan (hence, I have a Japanese address, bank account, etc.) If I sign up and take part on one of these sites, will I get paid in yen (in my case)..or will it be in U.S. dollars?Any feedback/advice is welcome.
  8. Welcome aboard, ComeToLife. I think you've found a great community here filled with people coming from many different walks of life. Hope you enjoy your stay here, and feel free to come back and post as often as you like.See you on the boards!
  9. I'm intruiged by some of the sites of this type. From what I read so far, it seems that Google Adsense, 4daily, 12dailypro and StudioTraffic are among the more trustworthy of the making money sites.
  10. Just thought I'd add my voice to the chorus of others to thank you for giving some tips on how to get started on Google Adsense, as well as what to watch out for. To be honest, I think the photo galleries I'm currently building would be pretty much the only places where I could have the ads placed. Not all of them will be about computers and webhosting, obviously...maybe if it included some other keywords of interest.
  11. Memory hog or not, I'll continue to use Firefox. If it becomes too much of a problem, there are other alternatives out there. As long as the computer has enough memory, then FF should continue to run just fine.
  12. I also cam across an article about a sneak preview of the lineup of Apple's Intel-based machines. Looks really good, and it's interesting considering that Apple has shunned Intel in the past. Glad the feud is behind them now.
  13. Aside from Windows Media Player and iTunes/Quicktime, you might want to try WINAMP as an alternative. I pretty much gave up on using RealPlayer a while back.
  14. FTP Commander works quite well for me, and it automatically connects me to the FTP site before I transfer files. I guess the only drawback my be that if I forget my password, it may become a big problem.
  15. It doesn't matter what sort of PPC service you're using. If you have good site with lots of different visitors, then you'll earn a lot more. So build a good site first, then consider using a PPC service and/or affiliate site.
  16. I'm sure there are many ways to clean up all the temp files on the PC< just as long as the computer will run faster (and more efficiently) then before.
  17. Welcome aboard, MaverickFang! Interesting bio you've got and I think you'll be a great fit with the T17 community. Fell free to browse the many topics and threads we have here and post as much as you like!Hope you enjoy your stay here and we hope to see more of you on the boards!
  18. Admittedly, using a pen and paper can help you sketch out a map of what you what you want on the website - for both content and design. I think this is a good time to refer you to this Ping Mag article for a simple, yet amusing process on developing a website. Happy reading!
  19. Welcome aboard, Mich. I'm sure you'll find yourself right a home in this community. The people here are very knowledgable and very supportive. Feel free to browse the many topics and threads on the boards, too.Hope you enoy your stay here and we hope to see more of your posts in the near future!
  20. Not too long ago I would've thought that growing any vegetation on Mars would be a longshot, but now it seems we're one step closer to achieving that. It's neat but it would be very costly (money-wise) if it were to be done in the near future. Then again, you never know.
  21. Still, Bluetooth is a nice thing to have. My (new) Vodafone 902T Toshiba has that plus several advanced features and it's not even the latest model on the Japanese market.
  22. My (new) Vodafone 3G mobile phone has the Bluetooth/infrared and USB features. I was thinking that if I wanted to use one of my mp3 as a ringtone, how would I use said features - and would I be able to get the full length of the song. Just a thought.
  23. Welcome aboard! Nice to have you join our community, as the people here are friendly and very supportive. Hope you enjoy you stay here and we look forward to seeing more of you on the boards in the near future!Once again, welcome to T17!
  24. One needs a lot of patience and a site that interests a lot of visitors to consider making a full-time business out of it. Though it's possible to make $3000 U.S./month with a weblog that is linked to several affiliate sites, the blog itself must generate a lot of hits in the first place.
  25. Just checked out the site, and doesn't really seem to be worth the effort. If I were to get visitors to come to my site, I'd like them to be interested in what my site had to offer on all the pages I uploaded. I'll be patient and give Adsense a go.
