  1. You also use the program Audacity along with the LAME MP3 encoder (the link is on the website) to make some great podcasts. If you want to do an interview in your podcast, you can also combine the program with Skype.
  2. From the example you gave it certainly looks like a hoax to me. Don't fall for it. I find it hard to believe that Gmail can suddenly cease their web mail services just like that.
  3. WordPress is my blogging software of choice. I used to type in at least several entries per month, but these days it seems I only have time for one entry per month.
  4. As much as I'm a Firefox user myself, most people in the world use IE. As well, there are some sites that require IE and wouldn't work on other browswers.I'll gladly support the campaign for others to stop using IE, but it may still be a long way before everyone abolishes IE once and for all - especially with IE 7 / Windows Vista on the horizon.
  5. It's often too easy to take parents for granted. Being a parent myself, I can expect a time when my son will also rebel against me hen he reaches the pre-teen/teenage years. At the same time, however, my wife and will try to give him the love and support as much as we can - and we want him to grow into a healthy, independant being. After all, we can't choose our parents, so we should be grateful that they are around through good and bad times.
  6. Sounds like some pretty sound advice for a beginner. Does this apply to snowboarding as well? I've skiied before - though not for a long time, but I'd like to try snowboarding someday. Unlike skiing, which I can quickly re-master after a run or two, I heard that you'll much more often when you're learning to snowboard.
  7. On my new mobile phone, I just have it set to a "Jazz" ringtone that came with the machine. To get a pop song set as your ringtone, you need to download from Vodafone Live. If you don't have a flat rate to use the Web on your phone, it could cost you quite a bit in amount of packets you use.
  8. I have a gmail account, yet I couldn't get to connect it with Orkut. I like the idea behind the service though - as I find both Friendster and MySpace a little too much for me. So...if you have an invite, PM me or send it to shigajet[at]gmail[dot]com. Thanks in advance!
  9. Actually, the site I made a link to in my post is not my own blog, as I'm using WordPress, not Nucleus (although one could almost say they have a lot of similarities). Still, thanks for the code - and the term as well - and I'll see how it turns out.
  10. I brought up this question in another thread, but I'd like to know how you can allow the user to change font sizes on a blog. An example of this can be found on this site. What files would I need to edit - header.php, style.css? If you can help me out on this one, feel free to shout out.
  11. I'm looking forward to see how Team Canada will do - another gold in the Olympics for our nation's hockey team, perhaps? If they face Latvia in the gold medal game, it'll be a nail-biter, for sure.
  12. Just read a few of those articles myself, and although some people have been down on Google recently, I thinik they have a bright future if the company sticks to what they do best. I'm just as curious as the next person as to how the Google OS will emerge. As we see now and what we can envision in the near future, Google has proven to be much more than a great search engine.
  13. Thanks for the tutorial! I've made a fairly simple one the installation worked!
  14. I have three browsers on my PC, and I often use Firefox. Occasionally I would use Opera. It also loads pages faster than IE, and you can change skins without restarting it....but I'd still go with FF for better security.
  15. I tried out the demo site for Joomla, and it looks really organized. Plus it has features aplenty. If you're thinking of putting up a big site, this is a good one. On the other hand, if you're aiming more like a blog/small personal site, then either Nucleus or WordPress will do nicely.
  16. Glad to hear that the edit button is available. At least now I have a chance to look over my posts, edit and re-submit them in case I made a major grammar/spelling/repetition error.
  17. Meanwhile, on the other side of the pond (in Japan), Tokyo Disney Resort (which contains Disney Sea and Tokyo Disneyland) continues to dominate in sales, followed by Universal Studios Japan in Osaka. I"ve only been to Walt Disney World, Epcot Center, Magic Kingdom, Universal Studios (Orlando) and Paramount Canada's Wonderland. I probably wouldn't want to go to the ones I mentioned at the top because of the massive overcrowding, long lines, the the park area being smaller.

  20. Sorry to go off on a bit of a tangent, but how do you add that function where you can change the font size on your blog on Wordpress (like the leaf skin for Nucleus).
  21. Awesome! Great to see the new boards. I've always been impressed with what IPB can do. Great choice, and great to see the shoutbox included as well!
  22. I recently tried out Joomla. It's quite nice. Very organized layout, and you can put everything from news to personal blogs. I think it would be perfect for a project/business site. For a simple, personal site, WordPress (and/or Nucleus) do the job quite well. Some might even say they share the same theme system.
  23. Just a thought. I'm wondering which would be better. Fantastico is great because it can install anything on the list in a few simple steps - just make sure you don't delete anything by accident. On the other hand, installing the software manually is not that difficult either...it takes more time but it's good to know how to do it.
  24. I'm usually quite careful when making my posts, but at times I, too, tend to make a post without checking the spelling or any words that I forgot to put in (or repeated). The edit feature is nice to have, but as long as people can get the general message, then that should be okay with everyone, too.
  25. It seems we're getting a lot different arguments concerning the use of Google Adsense. I'm currently looking into it myself, and it seems like a fair system. Just be patient and be fair, and you'll be rewarded.
