The BIOS put out by acer does not allow me to fiddle with the DVMT. I need to be able to set it to 256meg. I have 1.5 gig of RAM so there should be no problem with it. I have overclocked my chipset to 400 but still have low FPS due to the DVMT not responding to the needs of my games fast enough. Yes, the ability to add this feature to my BIOS is a legitimate need and will open up the true ability of this comp. I have been usin/tweaking/upgrading pcs for the better part of 8 years now, and I have rescently built a pc for my cousin with twin FGeForce 9800GTX 1G sli, spent 485 aus for both cards and got a discount at my local wholesaler for the motherboard, overall cost 660 aus. Combined with the intel i7 920 and 8gb ddr3 1333 this configuration is unbelievable. You can simply not beat sli with one "top of the line" graphics card. This is mainly because like single core cpus single graphic cards do not share the load of processes. I am currently running a hybrid adhoc graphics card of ati radeon 1gb and even though I have intel i7 3.2 and 12gb ddr3 1333 and the ud45-tft intel motherboard my cousin still gets better frame rates, heat levels and overall better performance in games that I can with my single card. you are wrong .. ATi cards above (and including x1600) have SM 3.0 too . Plus a lot better TV-Out in my opinion, and of course adaptive anti-aliasing and catalyst AI (look that up, handy feature.). Really ATi vs NVidia is purely down to preference nowadays .. Paying the same price you get more or les the same features and speed off both, whereas in rhe past it was an unwritten rule that NVidia were slightly faster than ATi (as in a couple FPS extra in games) and ATi was a little bit better visually, but again, now-a-days its more-or-less obsolete as they both use te same or similar features .. Pure preference now for the same level of cards, and don't let anyione tell you different. I recently did a review on this exact subject and benchmarked 3 different cards from both companies in 5 different games and 2 major benchmarking programs (3d mark & aquamark). :> Hope that info. I have been having this same exact problem. I have an HP Pavillion Notebook PC. One day, my Cd-Rom drive went completely missing. I cannot recall what I had isntalled that day, however, I do not think I had installed anything within that week. I could not detect it in My Computer, or even on My Device Manager. My Bios would not even detect it. However, I have not checked any of the external hardware on the computer. I really don't want to mess it up any further. I tried recovering my computer completely to factory settings, however, this had no effect. So I am assuming that the problem does lie within the hardware. I just don't think I am experienced enough to handle that.

I just bought a DELL Studio 15 and right out of the undamaged box the the boot up was very dark. Tried it again and rotated the angle of the screen and it worked! It is being returned so it can be repaired. It is my +15th computer and my first and last DELL. Also I learned that after you sign up with Sprint for EDOV and then you decide to return a defective computer for credit you still need to pay the $200 cancelation charge of the wireless account. The laptop was ordered with an INTERAL WIRELESS CONNECTION. Better to get USB style connector so if the computer gets damaged or returned you can plug the USB into another device for internet!

yeah...I Hate The State Of Mainstream Music I listen to alot of main stream music, mainly hip-hop. But there's times that I get tired of rap because it's always the same thing, most of the time the only mainstream rapper that I listen to is 2pac, but if I'm getting bored of mainstream rap for a bit, I just go to youtube and look up some underground rappers. Yeah.. Then I just start listening to mainstream music that's the cycle for me basically. I agree with what your saying... Yeah... People who listen to soulja boy, lil wayne, flo rida, kanye west ( yes I like all these artists, so please don't get twisted ) and are role models to them, and love the music, might start becoming like them and it will just destroy the music if more people like these start popping out of nowhere. Honestly I come up with these freestyles while I"m taking a shower that will eliminate all these other rappers on tv right now. But an important reason ( for rap ) why people stopped listening 2pac... Underground rap... Gangster rap... Is because they were tired of listening to violent, sex, drugs, etc. Even if these mainstream rappers stopped talking about drugs, and violent acts, they still talk about money, alcohol, and women. Which is even worse. I listen to mainstream music all the time but I don't want the music by the people that paved the way for them to be forgotten and to be remembered as that last people who actually put their heart and soul into that song.

pc boots up then shuts downPc Shuts Down After A Few SecondsMy computer keeps shutting off also. I did a little bit of troubleshooting. I disconnected a few things. First, I read up, on forums like this. I tried my memory first. I found that removing one of the memory sticks caused the shut-downs to quit. I took out my CD burner and found that it had no jumper on it for master, slave, etc., and when I tried various settings, it would shut my computer right down, except for when I left it with no jumper. Guess that means that somehow, my CD burner is bad. Other thoughts???
