  2. Yeah, I was a HUGE Bitdefender fan as well... That was until about 6 months ago, when I discovered that despite my having their full security suite, I STILL had about 10 viruses, and spyware resident programs on my machine. Switched to Kaspersrky and haven't had any issues since. BTW, Kaspersky's new engine uses a lot less resources than they have in the past. The only one that uses less is Symantec's. -reply by gster09

  7. How To Solve MTU ProblemNeed Help Changing MTU Settings For XBox hey Everyone, I had exactly the same problem with my 360 and LIVE the way to solve it if nothing else has helped so far... 1) if your xbox is connected to your main router/modem through a second modem simply take out the ethernet cord and plug it into the Main router, this may mean that you need to purchase a longer ethernet cable. This was not the exact problem in my case although it was very similar. 2)if your xbox is connected to your main router/modem through a second modem of which is also supplying internet to a computer/laptop take out the ethernet cable and just like in step 1 plug it into your first/main router. This was my exact problem and as soon as I plugged the ethernet cord from my xbox into my main router I heard the sound I had been starved offor the past 3 days... BLEEP BLOOP connected to xbox live. The Reasons: why your xbox fails the test even though your MTU is set to 1364 or higher is because your second modem holds back a lot of your MTU, there are updates for modems as such, but the way I have explained is a lot cheaper and easier. If your xbox shares a modem with a computer or laptop your computers privacy settings, network settings or firewall settings may be causing the very same effect (draining/withholding a various amount of MTU) I hope this works for you all, add me if you like to tell me of your success or to ask for a more detailed step by step guide to getting your MTU sorted. 9. Rock on, Luddites!I Hate Cell PhonesThis thread was very pleasurable to read. Cell phones ****. You don't need one, you just think you do because everyone else has one. But it's precisely because everyone else has a cell phone that you shouldn't get one. Allow me to explain. The most solid argument to have cell phones has something to do with emergencies. "But whatever will you do if...", the argument usually begins. Here's what you do if you're experiencing an "emergency": find the nearest person to you who undoubtedly has a cell phone, explain that you're having an emergency, and ask to borrow their phone. This method never fails unless you didn't sound earnest enough, so you might have to "sell it" a little. Then, you make that long distance call to grandma to wish her happy birthday and graciously thank the total stranger who let you borrow their phone. Shoot, we all know how to communicate here, so use your powers. After all, unless you live in an incredibly rural area, when will you ever be in a situation where there isn't a cell phone-carrying person nearby? What do you, solo up K2 on the weekends or something? Cell phones are also monuments to planned obsolescence and corporate antitrust. The minute you buy one, they release the next better thing you'll absolutely have to have. This sucks, so don't ever buy one. Plus, have you ever seen a cell phone that has all the features you want? Will they ever until about 2050? Then, by 2051, the 2050 models will still be too slow. As far as antitrust is concerned, the Feds need to be investigating the whole iPhone/AT&T relationship big time. My wife has that plan, it's completely overpriced, and why should you have to patronize AT&T just because you want a phone with some of the best features out there? I've been boycotting AT&T since the mid-1990's when their CEO gave himself a $20M pay raise during the same quarter that he laid off 20,000 of his workers. Now I have to boycott Apple, too. (But who cares, really--if it weren't for the iPhone and iPod all they're about is overpriced and underperforming computers that people who like to give money away swear by because of some kind of strange religious brainwashing that began in the early 1980's.) The longitudinal study results about the link between cell phone-created EM radiation and brain cancer haven't been released yet, because the study isn't over yet. Last I heard, the lead researcher up at Cedars-Sinai in L.A. Mandated that his crew all use hands-free devices, all the time, because he's so scared about what he's seen so far. Mmmmmm. Brain cancer. Can my tumors get updates, just like my apps? By the way, will they ever make a cell phone with features that can actually be used because there are buttons on it sized for adult human fingers, rather than the long and pointy fingers of Lilliputian, crowd-following troglodytes? The Jitterbug doesn't count. You get absolutely nothing with that ripoff plan. Companies love stealing from old people. Finally, never forget one of the most important anthropological universals: every solution has inherent in its own design a unique set of problems that will have to be dealt with. Now we're dealing with no free time, bosses who can call you at any time of day or night, and a colossal glut of largely useless information...And we wantonly pay for all of this with our hard-earned money? Are we a nation of complete idiots? Let's face the music, here: unless you're Barack Obama, the CEO of a multinational corporation (who needs constant, verbal feedback on how efficiently you're destroying the earth so you can do it better and better), an on-call medical doctor, or their close cousin the drug dealer, you simply aren't important enough to really need a cell phone. Is your monthly fee really worth the imperceptibly minor inflation of your pretend importance that having a cell phone will provide? So, I say to you, dear conscientious people who are iconoclastic enough to think for yourselves, don't break down! Resist! Use every cell of your mortal being to remain focused on the important things in life! Revel in having a brain! Rock on! -reply by Christopher C.
  10. Novatel USB CardHook Xbox 360 To Laptop.I have a sprint usb novatel card for my pc and I get on xbox live with it by hooking a ethernet cable up from your xbox 360 to your pc then either bridging the connections or using sharing on the novatel to local area connection. I took me awhile to mess around with it and it depends on what version of windows you have. I have windows 7 and you have to use sharing but I think xp and vista you can bridge which is 10x easier. Look for a youtube video.-reply by LSULambert
  11. Look man.. People will always look for what is better for them and their economy in this case Maybe if prices drop from everywhere (DVDs, softwares and music) it could exist a little chance for piracy to be over. But as long as people get what they want for FREE there will always exist. -reply by Sergie

  17. what is new in the mp3 world?100 Gigabytes Of Mp3s? ...in Your Pocket? With the advances in technology as of late, What do you see in the near future for mp3 players? There is speculation of a 1tb Mp3 player soon to hit, however I'm not granted with peoples that have consistent brain functions; and as expected they cannot remember the manufacturer. Lame, I know, I've also heard of a New Micro Mp3 Player in the works from *SONY*, said to hold 40gb. Personally, I have had virtually every type of Mp3 player out there run across my desk, I love the Microsoft Zune because of its large display and user friendly d-pad, not to mention they are pretty durable. I love the Ipod for its many uses, including a portable HD,the disadvantage to this is that the ipod HD spins. With the advances in flash technology I could care less who makes it.. But "ME" "I", WANT - a flash based mp3 player with a 1 tb or greater capacity, it can be the size of DVD multi-pack for all I care.. But, and I say this for almost anyone out there; We want more space.. I know that "I" need 794gb to house my collection, and my Zune is 80gb, My Archos is 40gb, My Ipod is 80gb, My Zen is well, small... I simply cannot transport my music collection, even if I seperated genres it would still take 300gb for my metal collection alone. you see my issue. The simplest answer is to just "NOT" take all the music with me.. But I'm a musical fanatic, if I cant hear what I want to hear when it pops into my head, I go all OCD and track down the LP/EP/CD/DVD whatever it takes.. And hear it.. So I really do have a legitimate reason to have my music with me. So, Any thoughts.? lol. I am sorry about my rambling. -reply by Mr Aggro Magnet
  18. Purpose of website: Let people see it!Bandwidth Limit Exceeded It's really amazing that with as much cheap bandwidth, storage and hosting plans available, people still host on plans/providers that limit some hosting plans bandwidth, capping daily, monthly or whatnot. I'm with GoDaddy, and host all my sites under the same shared linux hosting plan. I've been with Cedant, Rosserver, Tiora.Net and others... Bug GoDaddy so far has been great. It's only $15/mo for the plan I have, gives me SSH access, unlimited storage and bandwidth, mysql databases and with the shared linux plan you can also use Perl, Ruby, PHP, et cetra. I'm also able to call them 24/7 for tech support, and they're techs seem to know their stuff. Don't skimp if your website should be seen by as many folks as you want to see them. -Nicholas Maietta

  23. Alienware Area-51 750i DesktopAlienWare - Good Or BadI just bought an Alienware Area-51 750i Desktop. It's on it's way and I'm tbh, when your looking at reviews for Computers, or anything else, you always look at the bad ones more than the good one's. The good reviews just impress you, then you forget it. Bad reviews stick in your head and you worry that your computer will have problems, and tbh, considering I'm paying £2,000 plus, I'm expecting it to be worth it.So basically, what I'm wondering is Does anybody have any experience of a desktop? If so, can you please write a review of an Alienware Area-51 750i? Thanks in advance. Lewis -reply by Lewis
