  4. VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) is the communication technology of the future for sure. Legacy technology carries voice signals over analog circuits and lines. Voice over IP converts the analog signal to digital and transports the signal to the receiver where it is converted back from digital to analog and the receiver hears the sender's voice. This provides a more efficient and economical means of communication.I have know VOIP for quite a some time since i started online. Most of the time i use msn messeger or yahoo messeger to chat with my friends. Recently, I have try a new VOIP product from a US company, it calls Telextreme. Don't know u all have heard of it no.With the package that i have sign up, i call call to my friend's cell phone or fixed phone with only USD59.95 a month with NO AIR-TIME LIMIT. It provides Crystal-Clear calling and to others countries as well like US(All 50 states), UK, Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands and mores. To use this product, u need to have a broadband line to support it. Otherwise, u will wait a few second hear your friend's voice.
  5. Slow start to speedy net servicesService providers are in a race to be the fastestFaster broadband in the UK is becoming a reality as more internet providers offer super-fast services. Some lucky Britons can already take advantage of UK Online's 8 megabits per second service, which was launched in November 2004.BT Retail has announced that it will trial the same speed service, with a national rollout by year end.Other service providers are expected to follow suit and a glut of new voice and video services will follow.Losing market share"If the bandwidth is there then ISPs will buy it," said Jill Finger, a research director at analyst firm IDC.Others will be watching BT Retail's trials, which is initially for employees and later in the summer for customers, with interest. For BT Retail, she said, the super-fast service could be a way of differentiating it from other players."It has been losing market share and this could be one way of gaining some of that back," said Ms Finger.Wanadoo is set to trial an 8Mbps service in the summer and also plans to roll out unbundled services - which means it takes over the network from BT - which will provide speeds of up to 15Mbps.There is no timetable for this at the moment. Cable firms ntl and Telewest are also bound to increase bandwidth at some time in the future and, according to an ntl spokesman, are in a better position than BT in the long term."BT's network is limited compared to that of cable. With all the other services coming on stream such as video on demand, the question is will 8Mbps be enough?" he asked.----As we know now acording to BBC - ISP's are now offering 8MB connection and soon 15MB, you think this is really nessassary for a home user? I know I think it is, anyone disagree?
  6. holy cow http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ i was wondering if anyone has these headphones or anything like them these are amazing i love these. i got those headphones for my birthday and as good as they are im a bass lover. i love bass these are amazing ive never FELT anything like them its like having earth shattering sound system in headphones. what surprised me the most were that they were amazingly cheap for such nice headphones. Well they are very very very poorly made. Not the cups or anything just the head strap part. But if ur careful these are awesome the bass vibrates all around ur ear and it feels awesome. i just wanted to share this information for those who dont know about these. i think everyone should try these. very cheap so if you dont like it, they wont be a huge investment. im not bragging im recommending them to everyone because theyre worth the price so if u dont like them then dont get them theyre cheap and awesome, what more can u ask for.
  7. How to make your PC silent?yes, I know all PCs will make noise, but there has to be products or materials or things you can do make them or help them become silentI know how to make a PC quiet... buy every component, etc that is very quiet..... fans, harddrives, cases, PS fans, CPU fans... or even use water coolers.... BUT for those who didn't think about case noise and besides starting from scratch....What products out there work? What products or components can we change that make a BIG difference!?!?!?!Please give pros/cons and reviews if you have tried or found anything that works good.I just changed 2 of my 3 PCs the 2 case fans in each. The existing fans were "cheap" I guess, not any good name brand, etc. I tried to look up their decibles on the web... I think most were about / around 30 dba.I replaced them with Vantec, 80mm, double ball bearing "stealth" case fans. Their rated dba was 21.I was hoping the 30% less dba would make a difference.... I "THINK" I can bearly tell....they cost $10 bucks each from Fry's... but I would not replace the current ones... if I would have know I would tell the differenceAnyway...that was my 2 cents.thanks for your reviews and input....PS. I'm hoping someone has some new Technology that quiets the PC by 50% percent!!!!All I want is a quiet office!!!
  8. FireFox infected my computer! I was doing a memory usage comparision between FireFox and Opera here: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I opened a lot of sites in FF including some cracks sites. All of a sudden I got multiple virus warnings from Avast antivirus, and an Internet Explorer window popped up!!! A toolbar was installed, and a spyware search thing by 180solutions was running in my system tray: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Nothing happend when I opened exactly the same pages in Opera.
  9. whyme says: you have copied and pastesd this entire chunk of text from the link below. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Please note that your warn level is at 80% right now.
  10. trillian is in the beta stages right now and still has a lot of holes to patch up. like sometimes it auto-accepts the incoming files on my MSN IM. That means that anyone can send me a trojan anytime. Is that crazy or what?
  11. All the buzz about mp3 players, iPods...manufacturers have started to sell mp4 players (claims to play video and audio). All the mp4 players out there...i think they're only 3 big name ones now, all running Windows media software, kinda bricky, and have relatively short battery lives, w/ hard to get used to interfaces...w/ a coolness factor of about million. All rumor sites all think that apple, whatever steve jobs says, is going to get one out soon.Has anyone actually purchased one? if so, are they small and futuristic?
  12. I use Firefox for security and IE for the features. new IE7 looks very promising and might be a great combination of both, i really hope so anyways because firefox is very low on features and it has couple exploits too. There is much debate over the security of Web browsers, stemming mainly from Internet Explorer's vulnerability as a common target for hackers and virus writers. Microsoft regularly releases patches and updates to fix security holes in Internet Explorer that might allow someone to install malicious software or steal information from a computer. Firefox has not been the focus of hackers so far, but that doesn't mean it's inherently safer. For now, Firefox is enjoying a reprieve from viruses and hackers primarily because, compared to the widespread use of Internet Explorer, it is relatively obscure. Hackers haven't bothered exploiting Firefox yet, because the low yield means it wouldn't be worth their efforts. If Firefox ever achieves dominance among Web browsers, that can be expected to change. But I believe that IE will be the dominant browser in the end because its packed with tons of useful features.
  13. I like hot summers so I always wanted to visit the Brazil. The capital of the Alagoas State has wonderful beaches, and the color of sea varies from emerald green to blue, but the water is always clear. The sand is white and there are a lot of coconut plantations. This natural beauty combines with its urban coast, with a lot of hotels, restaurants and bars. The scenery ? inviting and attracts Brazilian and foreign tourists during all over the year. Its a dream
  14. Yeah I travel a lot and from what i heard it gives you the same speed as cable when the reception signal is good. still though i suspect the cable is faster and cheaper at the moment but it lacks mobility.
  15. That would be nice indeed, and much more intuitive. Also, is it true that you need +4 credits to unsuspend the account?
