  2. Re-What are you looking for?Which Brand Is Best Gaming Computer?Order of importance is CPU, Graphics, Cooling, then lastly Memory. CPU = how fast data is proccessed to the other components in your system. Slow CPU even with the best dual graphics card setup still ='s Slow... Graphics is based on how much you really want to spend anymore. You can get good perfiormance from some single card systems, or awesome performance with some longevity from some dual card setups. All boils down to bang for buck. Also on a graphics note, Totaly onboard memory isn't always the answer for that part of it either. Some 512mb cards can out perform 1gb or 2gb cards due to settings in some MB bios that allow for allocation or raw system memory for Graphics use. Point in fact nVidia offers a 32mb card with onboard memeory use of up to 2gb, for one of their newer chipset MB's sesigned for that card type. Its expensive, but you'll start seeing the price drop soon, and probably even most card manufactures switch to this method, due to its longevity cause its easier to add more options to a card then add memory to them cause of size limitations of computer designs. Memory is pretty simple, 3-4gb of raw memory for 32bit oprating systems and 4+gb for 64bit systems, based on Motherboard limitations of corse. Note: Using win XP or Win Vista home basic versions lowers the max memory allocation to just 1gb max, so stick to atleast Home Premium or better. Cooling: Can't stress this enough, A little humming sound extra is far easier to deal with then a burned up over heated system. Spend extra here to increase your systems lifespan and above all else its performance. Myself I stick yo cases that allow for this designed setup for cooling: 1 front intake fan 1 rear intake fan (this is above and beyond the power supply intake fan) 1-2 Side intake fans ( Get atleast a case offering left side cooling fan, higher end cases also offer a right side intake fan which is effectively cooling the bottom of your MB) 1-2 Top outflow fans ( Try to have atleast 70-120mm outflow fans, to help promote conductivity, heat rises, so helping push it out faster keeps in most cases your power supplies from building up heat in the top areas, since most power supplies are locate there) If you don't go with a heavy fan using case, spend the extra and get a custome cooling system, Liquid or Air conditioned. These effectively cost on an average of double a fan cooled system, but also offer the coolest running temps around. So don't skimp on the cooling period, nothing slows a system faster then running them at high temps when it is preventable. -reply by DRFolsom

  5. I do not have a problem with convicted felons getting a second chance. As quiet as it is kept, all of us have done something that we needed a second chance to help us. There are a number of people on this website that have done things that could have gotten them significant prison time but you just did not get caught. The other consideration is what it does to the communities. If a person is unable to get a job, how are they supposed to survive. It has significantly impacted the Black and Lation community as there are far more African American's and Latino's being incarcerated than any other race. This could be the reason that nothing has been done about this situation. If a person is not able to provide for themselves legally then the only other option is illegally. This is just common sense. Society really needs to be more forgiving and less self righteous. There are communities within the United States where the parents have the money to cover up little Johnny's illegal behavior so he never gets the title of convicted felon. I propose that there is time for a change. A person from the age of 18 to 25 should be given a chance to have their record expunged. If it has been over 3 years since the person has committed a crime and has not been in trouble for those 3 years and has made significant progress in those 3 years; like going to school and getting a high school diploma, or college degree or trade, their record should be expunged. Once a person has been convicted and served time in prison that should be the end of the punishment. A life sentence is supposed to be reserved for those that take a life. It should not be for someone that has paid their debt. -reply by sassymassey
  6. System specs. . .Whats A High Quality Gaming PC SpecsFirst off, if you are getting a 32bit operating system, anything over 4gb won't be reported. Only 64bit systems make use of memory over 4gb. Secondly, the order of importance for gaming now is mostly this: CPU, Graphics, and finally system memory. Dual Core is mostly plenty for 90% of the game son the market to date, cause none are truely setup to make full use of the newer Quad core CPU's. Just get the best you can afford, in a Dual Core setup, unless you do tons of application work in windows, then a quad core will become a stronger asset. For memory, again, if 32bit system go for 4gb, 64Bit system 4gb or more is fine, but will only improve load times by small amounts. Also memory wise, Stick to 800mhz or faster DDR2 memory and motherboard that support those speeds, or spend the lil extra for a good DDR3 usable Motherboard. Frompersonal exp, anything over 800mhz speed memory will only slightly decrease load times, just something to consider. Graphics wise I'll expand this to next section. Graphics, best broken down into two groups, ATI based and nVidia base cipsets. And single or dual+ setups. ATI wise, a Single GPU will get you to med-high end of most current games, while Crossfire(dual GPU cards linked) will net you the highest for now anyhow. Look for 3 card setups in the near future tho all current games don't really take advantage of this yet and very limited Motherboard types for it as well as very costly. nVidia wise, Single GPU is aboutt he same as ATI, with some being slightly better, due to increased shader abilities. SLI setups (dual cards with SLI Bridge able Motherboards) Offer some of highest gaming benchmarks around. Also slightly near future will see more option then the current few for tripple SLI (3 cards bridged) Motherboards. Cooling is as always a major downfall in most gaming systems. Make sure its running cool or you'll greatly reduce your over all system performance and even possibly end its life way earlier then it should have. For cooling I suggest shoping around for either a good cooling system, several to choose from anymore. Or, make sure you get a tower that offers multiple intake and outflow fan ports. You'll suffer some extra noise depending on the style/cost of fans you go with, but a little noise vs. Dead hot system means the world. If not going with a gaming system cooling system itself, I'd suggest atleast 1 side fan intake on left side, 1 rear Intake(besides power supply) and 1 front Intake, with atleast 1 Top outflow fan. Several tower designs allow for this, even some are very stylish and lighted with LED's, looks rule you know =P. Such as my wifes system I built her for her gaming consists of a PCI card slot rear intake fan, Left side intake fan, Front lower intake fan and dual Top outflow fans, heat rises so speeding its exit will promote faster conductivity and cooling of your components. Plus a lot of newer fan kits are slim designed, with greater airflow with less noise, so don't go cheap on cooling above all else, or you'll end up wasting you money on big upgrades with lacking cooling. Also another thing to note is Power supplies. Depending on your system, and components, One power supply may be plenty, but make sure to read up on power reqs of your major components, which is your video card and fans. You may need 450-500w or even sometimes dual power supplies to manage your components well. Also consider this, as part of the heat factor, having dual power supplies, cuts down on the total avaiable power your system has. If you slot in a lot of fans with Crossfire or SLI bridged dual vid cards, you may peak out your power making your system suffer performance. Thus meaning either getting a larger power supply or less heat by getting dual power supply supporting towers. Also cost wise, some major manufacture's offer base systems at a cost far less then what you can buy the individual components for themselves. One of these notable merchants is Acer. I've custom built s couple really nice systems for nearly half the price by simply starting with one of their manufacture built systems and upgrading its components like adding memory and Video cards. Those most of these don't offer Dual PCI-E 2.0 slots on the MB, so make sure to read the specs sheet for them before going this route. And Stay away from name brands such as HP, Compaq and a few others, cause they don't offer a true windows meaning they don't have the full driver or support list of the same version of windows installed yourself. Microsoft has contracts in fact with HP and Compaq for a shell version custom built windows install for them, offering support initially for only their component lists, and making you struggle to perform upgrades yourself, or through a small tech shop even. But still, some other companies such as Toshiba and Acer offer some really nice base starter systems, to upgrade from with a cheap price tag attached. In fact I recently built a neighbor a decent gaming system for roughly 600bucks, by buying a Acer base system with pre-loaded software bundle, and adding in a good PCI-E 2.0 video card and another 2gb of memory. The system itself came with a good micro ATX tower with good cooling already, and a 19"widescreen HD LCD monitor. The base system was a measly 398.99 and just threw in a decent geforce 220 with 1gb ddr3 1080p HD, and 2gb matched pair Corsair PC2-6400 800mhz memory. Almost forgot, Some wholesalers online will sale you really nice barebones starter kits for really good prices. Just add couple components and operating system and your done. -reply by DRFolsom

He then will get there help and defeat Galabotorix. I think Arya will be the next dragon Rider, and will have feelings for Eragon. They will marry and I think they are going to go live on the land where the elves first came from(Angelas prediction about leaving the land forever) They will go on the boat that Eragon dreamed of, the man that howled to the sky would be roran son, and Roran and Katrina had died in battle. 10. iPod Shuffle speakersIshuffle From IpodI recently purchased an iPod Shuffle 4G and a set of iLuv iSP100BLK portable speakers for my nephew and they don't seem to be compatible. When ordered on Amazon, the speaker product profile said they would work with "any iPod" but wondering if there is a different sent of speakers that need to be purchased specifically for this gen of the Shuffle - I see that there are some issues with proprietary headset jack which may be the concern. I shipped the products to Arizona so don't have the opportunity to see the issue myself - thought I would see if anyone had a suggestion/answer regarding this issue. Thanks! -question by Carol
  11. increase the font and button size on the toolbar for Word 2007How Do I Change The Default Windows Font Size?Hi, does anyone know how to change the size of the buttons and text on the Word 2007 toolbar? They are way too small for anyone with "advanced-age" vision. I am using a new computer with Windows 7. what I have read is that you CANNOT change the text size of the buttons. It doesn't make sense to me. The only way I have been able to make them bigger is by decreasing the screen resolution, and that makes them all blurry. Thank you,

  13. Thanks a lot for posting this remedy. It worked perfectly for me. Control Panel->Sound->Playback->Speakers->Turn down PC Beep I also have an Asus P6T (SE version) and this muted setting alleviated the odd mouse movement/video card/hdd generated noise. Odd that it's turned up by default though. Also another related fact is that I had no such problem when I had XP installed and this problem started when I installed Windows 7. I guess PC Beep was thought as seriously important in this upgrade...Hah.

  16. Dish Network Criminals: I Lost EverythingDish Network - Scam Scam Scam! Do Not Trust Them!I was an independent installer for EchoStar aka Dish Networkin a resort area in New England. I spent a TON of money becoming certified and becoming a dealer for Dish. During the summer and into the fall of my first year, I made a TON of money installing Dish Systems. This was important to me because I had just been through a separation and had purchased our house from my ex. In the fall, things tapered down quite a bit as the summer residents all went home ofr the colder months. I still installed a few dozen systems for the "year rounders" and billed Dish (EchoStar) for my labor. Keep in mind that Dish required me to purchase the systems before I could install them and that required a lot of upfront cash because I had to use a ferry to cross to the mainland and then drive 90 miles to retrieve the boxes of equipment. Anyway, just before Christmas, I was owed $3800 by EchoStar. I received my check JUST in time to buy Christmas gifts and pay my mortgage. BUT DISH HAD OTHER PLANS: It seems my customers had opted to let their accounts deactivate during the winter and would re-activate them in the spring when they returned. So Dish SCAMwork DEDUCTED ALL of my LABOR from ALL of those accounts that I had set-up! MY CHECK WAS FOR $600, with the remaining $3200 deducted@ $200 per install in back-charged labor. In other words, it was MY FAULT that Dish's customers went home for the winter. Do you think Dish reimbursed me in the spring when the customers returned and reactivated their Dish receivers? (HA HA HA HA!) The following month was even worse...I had no $$ to purchase receivers and had to borrow to do so, but lo' and' behold, Dish nailed me for MORE defaults and I actually LOST money. In the coming months, I also lost my business, my credit and my HOUSE. Thanks to the CRIMINALS at EchoStar, I went into foreclosure and became seriously ill due to the stress involved. Never, ever do business with these people! -reply by BigMac

  23. Reply to all ignorant Soccer lovers that think they OWN the word FOOTBALLFootball Vs American FootballWhat you British soccer jerks refer to as American Football is called FOOTBALL because all goals are scored with a single "foot" not both feet, not the head or the knee, or the shin, or the *bottom*, but only the "foot". The ball is merely advanced by throwing and catching with the hands to get in range for a kick with the "foot". The ball is advanced with the hands because it is more more accurate and more efficient than daintily rolling it along the ground with the tippy toes like a ballet dancer, which is practically impossible to do when the the other players are allowed to hit you. God gave real men hands for a reason, and real men are not afraid to get hit. If Soccer allowed hitting and body contact, Soccer players would be picking the ball up as well. This is why Americans respect "real" football players, and regard Soccer players as overgrown children, because they play a game designed for children. Soccer is called soccer, because the only gear that soccer players need are padded, knee-high "socks". Soccer is a silly name for a sport, but soccer is a silly children's game anyhow, so no one cares what it's called except Brits. If anything, soccer should be referred to as BODYBALL, or TOEBALL, LEGBALL, BOOTBALL or even HEADBALL because in Soccer goals can be scored with someone's head which is silly for a game that claims to be called "football". I'd even accept FEETBALL, as most of the game involves rolling the ball around with both feet. But never FOOTBALL, The term Football should only be used for sports where goals must be scored with the kick of a single "foot", like Gridiron, Rugby, and Aussie rules. Do British people technically consider the goaltender of a Soccer team a "football"er? considering he can play the ball with his hands? or does he play a different game? Soccer scores would likely be much higher if he could only use his toes and body like the other players.
  24. Perhaps, but consider thisOpenoffice Vs. Microsoft OfficeNo doubt you're going to find this strange, but I grew up with Microsoft Office and quickly became a convert to OpenOffice after Office 2007 rolled around. Perhaps it's only because I can do all my work without having to worry about anything fancy or what I perceive as less usability on the part of Microsoft Office. But in all seriousness, you can't beat the cross-platform capabilities of OpenOffice. It offers a similar experience no matter which operating system you're using, plenty of features most people would never use, and you can even manage proprietary formats for your documents (assuming you really have to). So, yes, Microsoft Office has more functionality, but having never used those extra features, I'm fine with OpenOffice and can use it without a problem.
  25. Deleting a corrupt file in windows XP Deleting A Corrupt FileThis fricking worked like a CHARM! ... No viruses either, mine wasnt an AVI file it was a corrupted download file that stopped midway and was locked IN USE by some other file, I had tried removing all services and even paired down in safemode, no effect. I searched the registry for any form of the file name... Not found.. I downloaded the GIPO... Told it to delete the file on the next boot and it was gone! GiPo@Utilities. http://www.gibinsoft.net/gipoutils/index.htmGiPo@Utilities has a number of small programes within it.These include: * GiPo@MoveOnBoot - copying/moving/renaming/deleting files and folders on the next system boot. * GiPo@DirMonitor - monitoring changes in the file system. * GiPo@Mount - local folders substitution and local/remote drives mounting. * GiPo@Hardlink - UNIX-like (POSIX) hardlinks for NTFS creation. * GiPo@ReadTest - checking files and folders for read errors. -reply by Tribe33
