  1. This is the problem with people - they expect other people to be like themselves. There's a word for this: xenophobia. When people see something they don't like, it's only natural to try and shun it for what it is, simply because you don't like it and making fun of it makes you feel less scared about it invading your thoughts. I'll point to a story in the Bible as an example, not because it's from the Bible, but because it serves the purpose of the context of what I'm saying. You should know this: the Exodus. Most people know it because of Moses holding his staff up to the water in front of all the people, and parting the Red Sea (which, by the way, is translated as the "Sea of Reeds", not the Red Sea as we know it today.), but some people don't know the message behind it: the fact that the only reason this happened was because Pharaoh was aftaid of the Israelites. Big whoop. Get over your fear, stupid serpent-headed king. If you think something's morally wrong, it's not for you to decide whether other people think it is or not. Preach to them all you want, but don't impose your beliefs as if they have no choice. (Yes, I'm talking to you, Christian extremists.) They'll just shun you and you won't have any friends. (Note: I can see where my argument fails when interpreted by a Christian extremist. They'll say, "Who cares about earthly friends? I have Jesus; that's all I need." Of course. I mean, the entire New Testament is geared towards that. Go ahead only needing Jesus. We'll follow you if we like. Just don't push us or we'll pull harder.)
  2. My site is still not up. I've had it for about 2 months now, so I don't think the 1-week backup is the problem. Is my account one of the few that are still not working?
  3. I noticed no one came here to post that something was wrong, even if this forum is working fine. (If it weren't, I wouldn't be posting here.) For some reason, I can't log in, and all the user accounts were removed from the system, even if the front page works fine. (As well, my hosting account was removed. I'm pretty sure I wasn't banned, because I didn't get any warning from moderators.) Is this some sort of server upgrade or scheduled downtime, and when can I expect service to be back on again? (I'm also posting this here because if I did so on the shoutbox, not everyone would be able to read it, as well as for the reason that there was no announcement.) EDIT: Someone else got to it first: ][link] Same problem. Any news on when it's going to be fixed? I don't want to apply for a new account again!
  4. Another potential rant right there -- the long time it takes to deliver CD's. I wouldn't know about the packaging problem -- alll the CD's I buy are simply in a case. No security or branding stickers whatsoever.
  5. You kidding? $700 to $1000 is dirt cheap for a 1-TB thumb drive. I'd say at least $10,000 for one drive. I mean, think about it. a 2-GB drive costs about... $60, now multiply that by 500.
  6. I believe the official number is somewhere around 8,251,518. That's the number I got when I looked at it about 3 minutes later, anyway. So I'm guessing the official number is around 8,247,000.
  7. As of 23:00 EDT (03:00 GMT, 18/06/2008), Firefox 3 has 2,831,048 downloads.Let's see how many times over that is by the next day. I'll be checking this next morning too.
  8. Well, they're not really adding much, are they? It's definitely not a valid addition, as God never wanted it there.
  9. The Qu'ran was written about 600 AD, correct? Is the original copy still intact? And how do you know it was inspired by Allah? How do you know Mohammud didn't invent the whole thing, like you say people changed or invented the Bible? How do you know it wasn't changed as well? What if the copies today aren't exact copies? ...there is no original Bible. It was made up of 66 books all strung together by... ... by... (okay, I forget. I need to do some research.) As well, the Torah is made up of the Pentateuch, which are the five books of Moses, which are the first five books of the Bible.
  10. All four "holly" books? Don't you mean just Genesis? (and it's "holy" books. Books aren't made of holly.)Or, do you possibly mean the four Gospels, which is a misconception. They mainly talk about Jesus, not Adam. (Considering that our bible study teacher tells us that Jesus is the "second Adam", what's the difference?) Or, do you possible mean the three (not four) books of the Abrahamic religions? That would be the Bible, the Torah, and the Qu'ran. EDIT: We are extraterrestrials to extraterrestrials. No difference.
  11. If they weren't overused, do you think I'd be creating this topic? XD Anyway, It's using them once or twice in a post, like this: You know, I think Windows 2000 was the best one of them all. After that, it degraded into "Winblows" XP. :that is acceptable, like you said. (And they should always [i mean always!] be in quotes.) (98% of internet users are immature? Well, partially, anyway... I was one of those 98% four years ago.) That being said, I think "Micro$oft" is the worst one out of them all. I mean, you're insulting the PHP variable character by putting it on the name of such a sick, twisted company name! EDIT: Ack, I meant PHP. In PHP, variables always start with a dollar sign. I have no idea why they chose that, but they did.
  12. Ah. I never applied for the 10-credit service, so I wouldn't know.
  13. It's something called an R4 adapter. This R4 adapter is basically a MicroSD adapter fit for a Nintendo DS to read. The DS reads specially formatted MicroSD cards, and this adapter fools the DS into thinking it's reading an actual game cartridge. (Or so far as I know... MicroSD is a standard for cell-phones.)
  14. (...waiting for a mod...) This isn't the place to post this kind of information request. But, to answer your question before a mod moves this over to Customer Support (even if the post is under 15 words and looks like spam, it's still a genuine question because I don't believe there is information about it on the hosting info page), there is no file limit and all filetypes are supported, as long as you don't go over the total filesize limit of, say 500 MB on a 30-credit account or 50 MB on a 10-credit account.
  15. I have a very irregular comic strip that I make, and I want my next strip to be in the spirit of XKCD's comic "f--- grapefruit", and rate operating systems instead. I'm running a poll here, based on whether people think an operating system is better than Windows 2000 or not, which I'm going to use as a benchmark (sea-level point) for rating systems. The rating system is on 3 axes, "usefulness", "reliability", and "security". Basically, for the poll, check which ones you think are more useful than Windows 2000 on the first poll, which ones are more reliable on the second poll, and which ones are more secure on the third poll. I'm setting the sea-level based on the number of poll entries divided by the number of options (which will always be 10). So, for example, if 74 people vote and 3 of them choose Windows Vista, then I'll divide 3 by 7.4, take the base-(10-th root of 10) logarithm of that number, and rate it on my poll contrasted to my own opinion. If 0 people vote, I assume the number to be the reciprocal of the total vote count, so the rating never goes below -10. Or, for another example, if 126 people vote and 94 of them choose Linux, then I'll divide 94 by 12.6, take the base-(10-th root of 10) logarithm of that, and rate it on the poll. PLEASE VOTE! I will credit Xisto.com for it! (Actual text to be included: "Based on results from ## votes on Xisto.com") (If you have any other comments, such as specific numerical ratings for any of the 2 dimensions, please include them in a post and I will incorporate them into the results.) (To Mods: If this topic is inappropriate for anything in any way, please stick a "note" here. I read the rules another time over and couldn't find anything against them, and I don't see how this could be spam.)
