  1. I am glad to see a fair amount of support for libraries here. I frequent our local library quite often. I do enjoy reading. Sitting in a chair in front of a computer screen can get tiresome, and you can't kick back on the couch with it and read in comfort. And in the event of a power failure, or computer crash, computerized reading material is not much help. You can read by candle or Coleman lanturn light. Many libraries also have internet access computers for people who cannot otherwise afford them, so they are a big help there. I know if my own computer crashes, I can if need be, check my email and important places like Trap 17. There is also that special "feel" of the library. The calm and quiet of the place can be refreshing and can set the stage for some serious thinking when studying is the goal, or a break from the hassels of every day life if you are dropping in for a bit of pleasure reading. Either one is a big bennefit. Our local library has a couple easy chairs, soft and comfortable, in one of the back rooms, I normally just grab books and head home, but the other day hubby had some errands to run in town and I wanted to get a new book to read, so I just hung out at the library while he did his thing. Even though I was only there 30 minutes or so, I really felt relaxed and content from the peaseful time relaxing there with a book. Nice to be somewhere where I can't hear the phone ringing or dog barking!
  2. Welcome kuskus to the Trap 17 forums. This should be a good place to work on your English, you can read others posts and practise with the grammer and syntax. Of course, if you read too many of my posts for study, you could end up sounding like a redneck hillbilly!
  3. Everything I have ever been told is that you need to eat several meal per day, at least 3 and in some cases, more, for certain health reasons. However, most of the time I myself only eat one meal per day. The thought of breakfast makes me positivly ill. I could not stand to eat early after getting up. I'm not a morning person and my stomach is the last part of my body that comes to. By the time I could eat something I am usually hard at work at the kennel. I do occasionally try to get back to the house to grab some lunch, but sometimes I get too busy and don't have time, or by the time I get things rounded up and under control, it's too close to supper time to eat much of a lunch. Sometimes if I have a few minutes I'll bolt something down, usually standing up or while checking my email, just whatever happens to be in the refrigerator that I can just grab and stuff in my face. Today it was a mushy banana. Yuck. Boiled eggs are a real handy thing to have, and the way my chickens have been laying, there's no shortage of those. If I have time my favorite lunch is tortilla chips with cheese melted on them in the broiler. Anyway, it hasn't killed me.
  4. That is going to be a really neat restoration job! Sounds like you are well on your way! Love to see more pictures as you get your work done on it. Are you going to do some wild and crazy paint job on it too? Remember all the old "hippy" wagons back in the 60's and 70's? Some of them were really awsome. Funny, every time I see an old VW buss, the old line from Alices Restuarant pops into my head, how they decided to do Alice a favor by taking out the trash and they loaded up their shovels and rakes and impliment of destruction into the VW micro buss.......wonder if I'm the only one here that every heard that funny story/long. Think Arlo Guthrie sang it. By the way, I wonder what kind of gas milage those vans get? The Volkswagon Beetles got really good milage.
  5. Amarillis bulbs can be forced to bloom any time of the year. I am not sure of the process, but I'm sure a bit of online reasearch will get you the information as to the timeing of the blooms with the potting up of the bulbs. They are very bold and bright colored blooms and will really help with those late winter dolldrums we all suffer from this time of year. I personally can't wait for the weather to get better myself. Even though they are predicting snow for this coming saterday, today found me digging up some tough sod to expand my Iris beds. And just for fun I planted some potatoe eyes I trimmed off the taters I fixed for dinner last night. Always wanted to try potatoes in a tub.
  6. LOL, now that's my kinda attitude! If it ain't broke don't fix it! Good for you Opaque! I'm with you, I like Trap 17 just the way it is. But you say this, and then come up with, "something like kontera text links or wibiya footer bar on qupis n sites." And I have absolutly no idea what any of that even means! You may still be learning, but oh boy are you ever way ahead of me on the old learning curve!
  7. Ok, just for the record. Dogs are pets. Cats too, maybe. But bunnies, cute as they may look, are tasty food animals. Funny how much difference there is in all the various cultures around the world. Lot's of different cultures eat dogs too, some consider them to be filth and vermin, and Americans nearly worship them. Strange eh? Guinea pigs? Food? Well, I don't know about that one. They aren't very big and it would take a lot of them to make a meal. And they are kinda cute, and not nearly as ill tempered and dangerous as a rabbit. The one I really can't figure out is not eating cows. Beef....it's what's for supper!
  8. Naw, don't like it. Maybe it's because I just don't like change, but it sounds kinda weird. And you might loose a lot of folks that haven't been around for awhile if they come back looking for Trap 17 as they would never guess a new name like sutra. Product name recognition is very important. I suppose you you could keep up a page for the url trap 17 that would redirect to the new site, but that is just added hassel for you.
  9. Gads, I didn't think I was ever going to find this post again! That will teach me to save the urls from now on!FP used to always bring up a window when I opened it for me to sign in. I never have gone to the control panel here at Xisto. Now the window does not come up. And it's the same for my sister in laws computer, she works on my site too. So I don't think it is actually FP.I can't really find anything in the control panel here, and I'm not sure I'm even in the right place. I click on My controls at the top of the forums page, or is it something/somewhere else?
  10. I'm betting you didn't vote for Obama! (or if you did your dang sure sorry now, lol) I agree with you to a point, but not all your points. Old people get money back from the government because IT WAS THEIR MONEY TO START WITH. It's called social security. You pay it in from your income for your entire working life. But the government gets to keep it for you. (and of course, invest it unwisely, and maybe collect interest on it) I do agree that people who are too lazy to work should not be paid by the government. If you have children you should have to feed and cloth them yourself. If you can't affored kids don't have any. But my biggest gripe about our current tax situation is the personal property tax. You never truely own anything. Make payments for 20 years on your home and if you don't pay those taxes, the government will take it away from you. Now that really SUCKS!!!
  11. And just who do you think is going to pay all the taxes to support this country if there is no more tabacco tax? But at any rate, since when does making something illegal put a stop to it? Look at all the laws we have in the world now and still our jails are filled to overflowing with people who break those laws. In some cases, makeing laws makes a problem actually get worse, not better.
  12. I know I have now posted twice about my problem with my web site. They either got removed or I just can't find them here on the forums. I cannot update my site, can't log in. Why do my posts here asking for help keep dissapearing??? It's been down a couple weeks now and even tech support told me to ask here PLEASE HELP Notice from truefusion: Moved from Xisto Answers
  13. I really thought I had already posted about my web site problem, but now I cant find the post anywhere, so I will start from scratch and hopefully somebody here can help me out, Ive been wasting my time with tech support for a week and the last message I got from them they told me just to make a post on the forums for help. I use Front Page to edit my web site. Now when I open Front Page I dont get the log in box so I can sign in to edit the page. I told them I couldn't update my site, this is first message Hello And I told them I didn't understand so this is the second message I got from them, I still don't get it. I did log into control panel and couldnt find anything that looked like what they were referring to. So I emailed them again and got this message which makes no sense to me whatsoever. Now I have absolutly no idea what that is supposed to mean. So I emailed them back and in the last message they just sent me to you guys, so I hope you can help. I REALLY need to update my site.
  14. I am really surprised that we haven't heard from any high school kids, I know there are a lot of them at Trap 17. I really am curious about this class, or the lack there of. My concerns are pretty deep, how can we protect ourselves from an overzealous government if we don't even know the laws and our rights? Every time I turn on the television and see the news I hear of new laws and I scratch my head, and think, "Is that even constitutional?" Seems like they just keep coming up with more and more little insidious ways to strip us of our "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."Doesn't anybody care??????
  15. Hope somebody can help, I can't log into my web site. I launch front page and I normally get a log in box so I can work on my site, but the log in won't come up. Thought it was my computer, but I contacted my sister in law who sometimes helps me with my site and she can't get in either. REALLY desperatly need to do some updates, any Ideas on whats going wrong? I will go and do a support ticket, but I thought this post might get me answers quicker.
  16. Thanks for replying, I at least feel better now knowing I'm not the only one. My computer is getting pretty rickety and I never know if it's just me or what. I really didn't think I was posting too fast. Not as slow as I type anyway. And sometimes I can post like crazy and not have any trouble, and other times I can't even make one reply. I'm not taking it as good as you, I have enough trouble finding time to get in here this time of year as it is. Kidding has started, soon it will be warm enough to start grooming, and then garden planting......I used to love spring, anymore I almost dread it. Ok, not really, at least it means winter is over!
  17. Eeek, that list sucks! Ok, I can see Snoopy, but good grief Charlie Brown, several on the list aren?t even actually dogs, not even cartoon dogs. You have a couple of songs, and a painting? Which isn?t even a very good painting, I actually have that one, dogs look silly in clothes.Who is Georgetown?s Jack the bulldog? Would that happen to be that bulldog that taught himself to ride a skate board? If that?s who it is, I?m ok with that one, that is a really cool trick especially for something as natural born clumsy as a bulldog.Never even heard of Texas A&M's Reveille. Eddie from the TV show Frazier is pretty cute, but he made for a lot of unhappy pet owners when they got Jacks of their own and found out how full of energy and devilment the breed is. They are holy terrors. Eddie, and another TV Jack Russell, Wishbone, are both extremely well trained dogs, and appear to be calm and very obedient dogs, but I can tell you that is not the case with Jack Russell?s without a LOT of training. I would rather see dogs like Hooch, Rin Tin Tin, Lassie, Old Yeller, and of course, the Irish Terrier from Fire House Dog on the list. Heck, even Benji! Of course in this day and age, a movie like Old Yeller could no longer be made. (those fight scenes were not fake, folks.) Animal rights people would never allow that sort of thing to happen. And after ?Married with Children? and Chuck Norris?s ?Top Cop? Briards should of made the list too. And if everybody wasn?t so hot to Bush Bash, that adorable little Scottie of his that did a Christmas show every year giving a tour of the white house should of made the list too.
  18. Well, you may not like my answer, but.....I think that would really make one fine Bar B Q!!! Seriously, I still have some deep scratches not healed on the back of my hand I got from my rabbits last week while moving one to get her bred. Some folks think rabbits are cute, and make good pets, but to me they are a food animal. And a quite tasty one at that.
  19. Sorry, no link, I heard it on the evening news. Yes, I do get away from the computer occasionally, lol!I'm sure there will be a lot of info about this coming up in the near future. Unless they try to sweep it under the rug, which I am sure they would certainly like to. If I see a link to the story, I'll sure post it.
  20. Yes, they can have some eye problems too, I just didn't want to scare you too bad right off, lol. They can get cherry eye and general eye infections, however, their eyes are tighter fitting in the eye socket, and so they are not quite as bad as cocker spaniels can be. Cherry eye is an infection in one of the tear glands, the gland becomes impacted, and infected, and swells out into a big red nasty looking lump from the tissue around the eye. It looks bad, but can be corrected. They sometimes respond to antibiotic drops in the eye, but in some cases they are snipped out. Only problem with the surgery is that the dog may get dry eye, which is then a life long problem with keeping eye drops in the eye. Generally they are ok though. I used to raise Bulldogs and Neapolitian Mastiffs, so I've seen a few of them. Human eye wash, saline solution, is fine to use on dogs, if you see matter starting to form around they eyes. Keeping the goo wiped away usually heads off any problems.
  21. That really sucks, I'm sorry to hear that. What probably happened is some dummy got stuck with a fishing hook in the area, maybe while swimming or playing in the water, and sued the city cause they let people fish there. We loose great things in our lives every day because of idiots who are law suit happy, case in point, now the rest of the customers of McDonalds have to drink half cold coffee because of one stupid woman. Frivoulous law suits hurt everybody. I don't think New Jersey is the only state that charges for fishing, in Missouri you have to buy a fishing licence too. But with the high cost of boat rental, maybe you could buy a little cheap boat, a little flat bottom alunimum boat, or heck, even a canoe! A boat is a boat right? We have a little tiny one, a 2 seater, that's only 6-8 ft long and can easily be set on a flat trailer behind a car, or loaded right up in the back of a pick up truck. I think we paid $350 for it. Found it at the swap meet.
  22. Why is it I can read and post on Xisto just fine for a little while, but after a few posts every time I try to answer or even make a new post I get this error message: I get this sometimes when I just try to read a message, and other times when I have already typed up a response. It’s getting pretty old, I am getting into my busy season and don’t have time to waste when I make a post and then can’t add it. Very annoying.
  23. OMG!!! I can't believe what I heard on the news tonight! This is unreal! A school in Pennsylvania sent home lap top computers with some of the kids. The computers had video cameras that could be activated remotely. The school principal activated one of the kids cameras while the boy was in the privacy of his own home, and took pictures, they claimed that they thought he "might be engaging in inappropriate behavior" and wanted to check up on him, they even confronted him with the pictures they had taken of him. What right does a school principle have to do something like this??? When did they get police powers?? The police can't even legally spy on you in your own home. What in the hell is wrong with these people?? I hope they arrest every single one of them that had anything even remotely to do with this disgusting rape of our privacy. Lock them away for a very long time!
  24. Oprah is horribly wrong. I can't stand that woman. She doesn't have a clue, she completely fails when it comes to seeing the big picture. She thinks you can fix any problem if you throw enough money at it. Example, she hates farmers, but it is obvious that she certainly likes to eat. I wonder where she thinks her food is going to come from? She has made some very stupid remarks in her career about mad cow disease that are wrong, and she has earned the disrespect of farmers nation wide. The beef industry even sued her, but it didn't do any good, once a statement is made on a widely watched TV show like hers, the damage is done and it can't be taken back.
  25. I have a real problem with nuclear energy. No matter the amount of safeguards, a nuclear disaster is always a fair possibility, and when you consider the amount of devistation it could cause, I can't bring myself to support nuclear energy in any way shape fashion or form. Especially when you consider the safty factors of solar and wind power into the equasion. Solar collectors at this stage in our technoligy do take up a lot of room, but there is no reason why large tracks of land cannot be "multipurposed" with overhead solar panels, and ground level use of the land, like growing grass for sheep cattle or goats to run on, or even some food crops. Another problem with solar is the cities where consumtion is needed are usually a considerable distance from land that could be used for panels, making transmission lines needed, and annoying the enviornmentalists. A goodly portion of this could be overcome with more rooftop collectors inside the city itself. I like the idea of solar, since it is at it's best when energy consumption is at its highest in cities, in the heat of the day when all the air conditioning is on.
