  1. Well, Deer season has ended and I am proud to say we made it threw another year with no casualites. When you own lots of brown goats, deer season is a big worry. Also, about every hunting season that comes around a certain email starts recycling, I've been seeing it for several years now, it's a picture of a newpaper classified ad that reads as followsTo all you hunters who kill animals for food, Shame on you! You ought to go to the store and buy the meat that was made there, where no animals were harmed. Are there really people out there that dumb?
  2. I guess dogs go threw a similar phase just like human children, when they become teenagers they start to rebel, test their limits and try the patience of their parents, or in the case of the dog, their owner. I swear, my young male Komondor is going to be the death of me yet. He is still basically a pup, just over a year old, and he is in that awkward age. He is going to be a huge dog, if he ever fills out his frame, he has massive bone and a lot of body length, but right now he?s just a gawky, clumsy teenager type. Even has the teenage attitude, thinks he?s so cool and so smart. He was trying this little trick where he would sneak up behind me when I would go threw the pasture gate, wait till I turned my back to hook the gate and then jump up with his front feet and hit me in the back, knocking me into the gate, and tearing the heck out of my back in the process. Well, that wasn?t working out too well for me, so I learned to keep facing front towards him, and reaching behind me to hook the gate, all the while threatening to bop his puppy head if he jumped on me. That worked for awhile, but pretty soon he learned that if he waited till one of the older girls came up to be petted, he could still sneak up behind me and nail me when I was distracted by the female. (I think he somehow convinced her to help him in is evil plot to harass me) So I learned to watch for that sneak attack and all was well for a few days, until today, when he learned a new trick. This one involved the direct approach, with him acting all sweet and nice calmly walking up to me to be petted, then jumping with all 4 feet right straight up in the air, and in midair doing a spin, catching me with his hips, in the perfect body slam, and nearly knocking me on my butt. It?s becoming a chore to keep ahead of his new tricks. I sure will be glad when he gets older and wiser and stops being a goofy puppy. If I live that long.
  3. Out in our back yard we had one of those old tires that had the sidewalls turned up and made into a flower pot, it's probably just under 2 foot tall and about that wide. It's had lillies planted in it for years. I forget the variety name, these are the ones with orange flowers, but they are a single stem with the leaves coming off the stem, not the variety that has the grass like folliage around them. I think some are called tiger lillies and some are called day lilies, I can never remember which is which. Over the years the dirt has erroded out of the tire, and I needed to refill it. I knew if I put the dirt in on top of the bulbs they would be burried too deep and would not come up, so I went ahead and dug them out, they needed dividing anyway. Now I am not sure how to store the bulbs for the winter. I figured it would be ok to put some of them back in the tire after I fill it, but how to keep the rest? Dry them and plant next spring, or what? Anybody have any ideas?
  4. Well that sounds like a very worthwhile effort, but I'm not really sure how you would pull it off. The big problem would be that the internet is so HUGE and spread over the entire planet, but the need for a specific type of blood would have to be found in the same local as the person needing that type. You would end up needing millions of people entered into the database in order to have enough potential donners for each area. Unless you wanted to do one for just your neck of the woods. As far as data fields, you would need the persons blood type of course, and their area and of course, some contact information. Not sure if people would want to sign up if real names were used, that might be another problem. But good luck to you if you decide to try this.
  5. Watching Tv show's like "The Office" and now reading your post, it makes me SO glad I am self employed!!! Of course, I do actually have to work......
  6. Thanks for the head's up! I always panic if I find the site down, and I never know if it's me, or my computer or the site, so It's great to know ahead of time and save me all that anxiety! Lord know's I have enough of that in my life as it is!
  7. LOL, I never would of thought I'd hear someone describe copper at being cheap! Around here they are breaking into old houses and stealing the stuff right out of the walls to sell to recyclers. It's really pretty high dollar. But you got me to thinking, just what are fiber optic cables made out of? Had never really even thought about that. Could they withstand the high engine tempratures under the hood of a car? I know they use them alot underground for the telephone companies, but they would not be exposed to excessive heat in those circumstances. I am not familiar with the Chery QQ, or the Chevrolet Spark. I do think it's rather pathetic that car makers can't come up with a decent car that is safe and gets good fuel milage. Not to mention one that has enough room in it you can haul puppies or your children or a week or two's worth of groceries in the back. I wonder the the general American public would even be interested in a fuel efficient, ulitarian type car, one that you didn't have to go into hock for 5 years and struggle with car payments. So many have that keeping up with the Jone'es thing going on mentally, that they would consider driving a cheap car an embarrasmnt. They think they wouldn't look cool that way. Personally, there are a lot of other things I would prefer to spend money on, a fancy car is not real high on the list, but that's just me.
  8. Yes, you can get into trouble mixing domain names too. I know several breeders (fortunatly I was not one of them) that tried to use the letters AKC in their domain names. Like if I wanted the name SheepdogsAKCpups, I would be promptly attacked by the great and (used to be) powerful AKC. Another company that is even worse than AKC is Toy's R Us. I know several people the took to court over just the R Us part, not just dog breeders, but anyone selling just about anything, like cars R Us, or Books R Us. I personally don't think they are right in claiming soul "owernship" of a letter, but when you got the money and the attourneys, you can pretty much get whatever you want. But to answer the original question, you only buy the domain name one time if someone has the one you want and they want to sell it. But you do have to pay every year to keep ownership of the name, depending on the company you use it's not all that expensive. It's like your copyright to use the name. And if you ever stop paying the yearly fees your name can be sold to somone else simply for the price of registering it.
  9. I have to agree completely with you. But it is hard to believe though that there are that many woman that would knowingly use some sort of cosmetic that was made from human body fat. The really disturbing part of this is that there would be more of an uproar about this subject if it was about the fact that they test cosmetics on animals, people get more upset and riot more over that than they would humans being murdered. Now that's disturbing.
  10. Honestly, I can't even imagine a moment when I find myself with nothing to do. I really wish I could sometimes. But there is always a pile to clean, up a dog that needs a bath or a vaccination, or if all else fails, there is always my house that needs cleaning. Really, how do you get away with not working at work??????
  11. LOL, Oh, I have just what you need, advice from an old fat lady!First off, being a perfectionist in your case may not be a healthy idea. Have you heard of recent studies that have proven that a few extra pounds over the accepted norm are actually healthier for you? It gives your body the boost it may need to fight off infections, and prevent illness and disease from plaguing you. If your in a near state of starvation your body does not have the energy needed to fight off illness. Remember, there are elements your body needs that are actually stored in fat cells, not in your blood or muscle. And as to your working out, good for you. But muscle weighs in heavier than fat, so while you may actually be loosing fat, it won't show up if you are adding muscle mass. No bigger than you are, I think your doing just fine. I still remember when I had to unload sacks of feed that weigh about what you do. Sounds like you are doing a good job and I sure wouldn't sweat the last few pounds.
  12. Unfortunatly, there are people on both sides of this issue, the snake oil salesmans to the true herbalists that understand how the proper herbs and supplements can and do help our health. I would truely hate to see the good thrown out with the bad and the elimination of the many various supplements that personally I do take and do believe that I feel better because of them. I really don't think the snake oil salesmans are a big problem, though I could be wroung. I tried that juice that was being heavily promoted not too long ago, magnastine, or something like that, I forget the exact name now. So I was out a few bucks for a bottle. It didn't exactly break me and send me into mass poverty. And just because it didn't help me that doesn't mean that for another person it could work wonders. I would not want the government regulating me out of the products I do want to use, so I am happy to tolerate the occasional snake oil salesman. One just needs to use a little common sense. I am sure the big drug companies would love to see an end to all supplements that are now keeping peoople healthy. After all, sick people are what make them rich. Every so often you see a big push to discredit herbal supplements, and force more regulations on the suppliers of them. It's all big business and greed, nothing at all related to keeping the general population healthy. A person would be very wise to actually do their own reasearch into the benifits of herbs. Study the ancient ways of using them, back in the days before we had HMO's and million dollar hospital bills. Sometimes new is not always better.
  13. Well, actually, I was more interested in started a discusion with a fellow breeder than buying a pup. Bulldogs are extremely difficult to raise, so surely you must have lots of experience in do breeding. It would be fun to have converstation about dog breeding with another breeder here. Most of the folks here are into computers, and since I'm no computer whizz, it would be great to have someone to exchange breeding info with. For example, tell us about how you bred your dog. Did you do AI or surgical implantation? Just the breeding part of the bulldog breed would earn us both tons of hosting credits!
  14. It certainly did seem a bit excessive didn't it? But actually, it is a long time established new car dealership. Hardly the place you would expect such shananagans. You just never know do you? Perhaps it was just a unusual coincedence, but it sure was a few too many maistakes on just one transaction.
  15. Interesting. So here's my take on that. Cars need engines, transmissions, rear ends, drive trains, tires, wheels, gas peddles, brakes, a clutch, and a long list of other minor components. They DO NOT need computers. Think about how often your personal PC crashes! Why add the great likelyhood of computer failure to the allready long list of highway dangers, like cell phone users, drunks, idiots, wild animals running out in frount of you, (it's deer season here, seeing a lot of that this week) and the few million other things that can go wrong when driving a car? Sometime I think we have gotten in to way more technoligy than we really need or can handle.
  16. Disturbing is certainly an excellent way to describe this incedent! And on so may levels! It's certainly bad enough that these people were killed for their body fat, but the fact that human body fat is used in cosmetics is something I also find pretty disturbing! Who wold want to use something on themselves that was made from fat from another human??? Yuck!!!You would think there are enough fat people out there getting lypo suction to keep enough fat available for what I would think would be the few fools that wanted people fat products.
  17. Well well, I've been hoping for a long time that a few more dog breeders would join in here at Trap 17. It would be nice to have someone to talk dog with. Did you raise these Bulldog pups? How long have you been raising dogs?
  18. What I heard on the news this morning has me pretty flabbergasted. Toyota is recalling millions of cars, due to the floor mats catching on the gas peddle causing it to get stuck down. Ok, that happens. It's happened to me in just about every car I have ever owned, that had a drivers side floor mat. But that's not what has me so shocked. The accident that was a big cause of all this uproar was a highway patrol officer and his family that were killed in such an accident. This was a HIGHWAY PATROL OFFICER!!! What most would consider a profesional driver. It absolutly floors me that someone who is a profesional driver was too stupid to either one, move the mat back, or two, shut the key back off to the accesory position, therefore assuring the steering colum did not lock, or three, for crying out loud, put the dam car in neutral!!!!! Even if the engine continuted to race, in neutral he could of stopped the car with the brakes and then shut off the ignition, or safely bailed out of the car before the engine blew up. And yet the stupid fool had time to call 911!!! What in gods name did he think a dispatcher in an office could do for him??? He was on the line for over a minute before the crash. God grief people, if his wife could reach for the damn cell phone, why in the hell could she not reach down and move the frigging floor mat? Hard to believe someone could be that dumb, really. I could vaugly understand it if it was some very young inexperienced driver, but a Highway patrol officer??? How dumb is that?????
  19. Welcome BloodMoney to Trap 17!This is a great and quite realiable site, I've been here almost 2 years myself, and have been very pleased with the hosting service. Nice bunch of people here too. You do need to do a lot of reading to figure things out, and it can be a bit confusing, (anyway, it was for me) but you can always ask for clarification if you don't understand something, and there's always somebody that will take the time to explain things for you.
  20. rpgsearcherz.....Oh MY God, you GRINCH!!!! All these years of loving Santa Clause, and now you've gone and ruined it! Not sure I can get past that idea now. I'll never look at Santa Clause the same way again. Welcome Sea Mac. Don't worry, the folks here really are pretty friendly and helpful, just like to tease each other a little on occasion. But they sure can be helpful. I'm real computer illerate, and have gotten a lot of help from all the good people here. Hope you enjoy your stay. This is a great site.
  21. Ok, I'm going to be a hard nosed jerk over this one. This BS about not working and getting paid not to work because you are "depressed" is a crock of horse hockey. If you are depressed the best thing you can do for yourself is to get up off your dead lazy *bottom* and go to work and do something constructive to take your mind of your supposed problems. Getting paid for screwing off is not a way to fight depression. Now don't get me wrong, I don't believe that a company has any rights to interfear with their employee's private life. There seem to be a ot of companies that think they own the bodies and souls of their employees, which is absolutly NOT right. You should have the right to do whatever you chose to do on your own free time. But if this dumb broad was taking pictures of herself partying and having a good time, she deserved what she got. After all, Facebook is a public venue. Like somebody else said, if you are on sick leave with a broken leg, you would not take the cast off to go dancing in public, and if you were stupid enough to do that, you deserve to get caught and punished
  22. If you have never seen a baby coming into the world, here is a link to a great video of an Elephant giving birth to her baby. It's pretty cool. The filming was done really well, since it is such a big critter it's easy to see everything, even if the lighting is not the best. (I'm sure the momma Elephant appreciated the subdued lighting but it doens't make for good filming) I've seen colts, cows, goats and of course pups come, and done more than my share of assisting with births, but I'm really glad I didn't have to mop up the floor after this one! http://kudtkoekiewet.nl/?t=http://www.dumpert.nl/mediabase/656611/d1deboorte_tv.html
  23. Actually, I see no reason why a cure cannot be found. Aids is a virus after all, and we have vaccinations for a lot of viruses. Canine parvo virus, adneovirus, corona, (yes, all canine viruses, but the concept of vaccinations are all the same, man or animal.) And the excuse for different strains doesn't hold water either. Take Leptospirosis, it infects cattle, dogs, and other species, and there are many different strains of it. However, scientists came up with a seven way vaccination that covers the most common 7 varieties all in one vaccination, and by vaccination for all 7 of those, you also get cross protection from many of the other less common varieties.
  24. Being in the USA, it's hard to imagine a government that would ban a freaking T shirt. I've seen lots of lewd, vulgar, funny, political T shirts in this country that nobody has at least yet considered banning. Though I am not convinced that if you started to wear an "Obama Sucks" T shirt, they might consider it. I feel rather sorry for the people of China that have to live under the conditions of so little personal freedom that they can't even express their own feelings or opinions. Glad I'm in the USA, afraid I wouldn't last very long in China!
  25. Oh sure, that definatly crosses my mind. You never know when some freak accident will take you out of the picture. Every time you get in your car you have no way of knowing wether or not you will ever see home again. I can think of some good uses for this site. For some people it may be a really good idea. It wouldn't work much for me, because the people/person I care the most about is right here with me and know's I love him, and he's computer illerate anyway, so if I left a message he'd never find it anyway. I think it would probably be better to let the people in your life that you care about know every day that they are important to you.
