    Linux & Ntfs?

So does that mean i have to reformat my computer with FAT32 if i want to install Linux?
  2. Can they co-exist? i was going to try Knoppix until i read on their faq that if you try to write to your NTFS-formatted disk, you can lose data, as Linux can't read those partitions properly, but only FAT32.Total n00b to Linux and related, so how much truth is there to that?
  3. Tiny Pro has the same thing.: windows security lockdown, firewall, IDS, Integrity guard.absolutely NOTHING gets through without your permission.
  4. it depends on the service you get. Xisto does a good job of delivering what they offer. and in that case i would much rather have the free web hosting. it would be more expensive to pay for the space rather than the domain name. though, seeing how my personal experience has been with quite a few other free servers before, the amount of downtime and re-uploading all my files wasn't worth it. if i hadn't found this place i would have had to pay for something. plus to me i'm fine being on a subdomain. if it's really important to you to have your personalized domain, fine.i think more than MAX $10 x year is too much for domain naming.for monthly space, anything over $50 is outrageous. you can get good deals for $30.
  5. yeah that's true. i was more thinking along the lines of what was being said about watering down photoshop to combine it with dreamweaver.
  6. call me biased, but i prefer to think that the cause of the slow loading is Norton and not MS word. i have Office 2003 on my comp, Acrobat Pro7 as well, with Tiny Firewall Pro on heaviest security, and NOD32 antivirus also on deep security, and Word takes about 5 seconds to load. Maybe you just need a new updated computer to run it properly.
  7. obviously some kind of pervert who get his rocks off on little kids. here's where strict islamic law would come in handy....cut off the offending member!!!!!!!
  8. yeah i heard they have trouble with overheating, supposedly the AMD64 has a better heat dissipation system. yeah and the ram is a bit low. is it DDR2?
  9. I come on about 3 times a day when i'm connected to DSL. when travelling, which is frequent, i only get on like 2wice a week. i try to post at least 2 or 3 times everytime i come on. both to keep & gain hosting credits, and also just because i find the forums interesting and informative. there's also always someone who can help you if you post about a problem you're having. i got lots of help when i had my problems, so i try to return the favor as much as i can.
  10. i like that. it makes more sense than laws today.
  11. this is one of my favorites:All bleeding stops... eventually.
  12. now THAT was a good post! I never heard that story of Pascal, but it makes perfect sense. I couldn't have said it better. But do you find it hard to put your thoughts into words when people ask you, without you being able to sit down at the computer and compose your thoughts, or does it just come naturally for you?
  13. whether science says we're the result of an explosion, and not put here by some higher entity, depends on what scientist you're listening to. i could quote lots of scientists who support creation, & the God theory. anyways, which would you rather believe in? i would think your first option leaves no second one.
  14. Ha! LOL this is like the 10th thread on the subject.
  15. tuner imports, no doubt! a fully customized Mitsubishi, Nissan, Honda, or Mazda would be my preferred way to travel anywhere. though current financial situation doesn't allow for anything moe than ogling other's cars & engines.but speeding in any available car will do, until then.I would like airplanes, except that other than take-off, landing, & the occasional turbulence, you can't feel the speed.
  16. it would be nice if they offered a discount if bought together, but i wouldn't want them to water down the program. there's already photoshop elements that takes care of that. IMO Photoshop would lose its place as a graphics powerhouse if mixed with Dreamweaver. Though perhaps elements and Dreamweaver could work together nicely.
  17. naw, that's not what i meant. basically just disable EFS protection. google a tutorial for it if u don't know how. then simply copy the files u want to keep onto your slave, and then format your master. that's the simplest way to do it.or if ur not wanting to totally disable EFS, then all stuff you're backing up, right click on the main folder>properties>advanced, and make sure the box to encrypt contents is clear. Apply and you should be safe.
  18. i'd agree that's pretty stupid. though who's more stupid, the teens who use those excuses or the parents who accept (?) their BS. hell yes, we could have a discussion on the most idiotic thing an atheist has said. But really, to me it all comes down to Hollywood crap. In movies, who are the bad guys? inevitably there's either some christian fanatic or terrorist muslim. And that's ingrained in people's minds, to when you hear the word "religion", the first thing that comes to mind is what people have seen on TV. here's an example: Johnny Mnemonic. who is the bad guy? a crazy priest. --really a totally unnecessary addition. a person who isn't a christian watches that, and goes away with that picture of a christian in his mind. That sure as hell isn't equality of religion.
  19. I use both CS & CS2.have things i like in both, and can't decide which one to keep.
  20. unless you're really sure of what you're doing, i'd suggest disabling EFS file protection (if you're running on NTFS) or make a copy of your certificate. As if you have protected files and reformat, you stand a good chance of not being able to open them again. --unless you're willing to shell out for a recovery program that might or might not help.someone here just did that on their laptop, and voila!---all stuff unopenable, even with the recovery program.
  21. aaargh! i messed up the formatting in my previous post!!!!Why isn't there an EDIT button!!??
  22. i didn't find vanishi what do you mean? you like CS but you don't? I have it too, it suddenly came out, no big launch and no news on yahoo or anything. Adobe is a bit boring though, i like corel painter for now. But hey, adobe will awlays be essential. Like a side kick. I aquired it but hey, im only a a kid.
  23. hope your format happens soon.--a sworn enemy of norton
  24. that gate called the eye of the needle was so small that a man had to stoop to enter. how much more so a camel? it makes perfect sense.obviously the rich man was more attached to his possessions. not unlike many rich people today. I don't know about you, but as a christian, i believe in rewards in heaven. what do you think, that we're all going to go there and recieve the same compensation? then why try here on earth? continuing that train of thought, then the rich (in general), who comparatively do the least for God, will be the least rewarded in heaven. For those who know their New testament, a fitting parallel can be found in the parable of the rich fool.
  25. i rarely have crashes on XP. of course mine isn't a normal installation. i've heavily tweaked and edited the registry and installation, and it runs faster and with less glitches. overall, yeah, i'm quite pleased with it. and it's a great improvement over the 9x win OS.
