As far as i know, there aren't many laptops (if any) that have video inputs. They do have many outputs! You would need a kind of video capture card to get the AV signal from the Xbox onto the laptop. I know there are many capture cards for pc's (and usb style ones for laptops) but I am not sure if you are able to feed live signals to the pc (i.e. if there would be a delay from you using the xbox to it showing on the laptop screen).Good Luck, let us know what you find out!

I agree with what wutske said, over clocking your cpu is a very complex thing. If you do over clock it, you then have to keep an eye on the temperatures and voltages of the cpu to make sure your not burning it to pieces from the inside out! Plus your computer could have a complete fit, not like what you've done and you could end up ruining your entire computer. If, after all that (including like faulty said, upgrading your ram) you are still interested and want to continue with over clocking your cpu, i recommend reading up on the art of over clocking. There are many books that explain it to you in detail and will help you understand what you are really doing! Then you will be able to understand what your doing and do it safely!Good Luck!

It may be fake, but it does look like so much fun! It'd be good to just see one of them going, and even better to be flying it!

Thats a shame that they block torrent downloads. Especially if you want to legally download torrents! When you say crashed, do you mean the connection just died and you had to restart it?
-
I have downloaded all of my Linux Distributions via torrent. Its nice and quick and I help other people download they're copies at the same time. This, I think is true for most P2P clients. If you share any files, you have to expect that people are going to copy them from you (in return taking your bandwidth). Same thing goes when downloading torrents, if you don't limit the upload speeds, people will take parts of the torrent file(s) for themselves, again taking bandwidth. One thing I just thought of while writing this was that if it is illegal to share copyrighted media. Say you legally download music and have it on your computer, then a torrent client like uTorrent shares those files on the Internet, are you breaking the law or is it only illegal to download the copyrighted media?

Well, after this, Apple might just scrap the Intel processors altogether! And it sounds like a great processor they are working on also, lets hope the next generation of macs come with it!

Its strange how IP Board Software becomes attached to people! I've seen it happen before -
http://www.pchell.com/support/smileycentral.shtml This looks like a good way to try and get rid of it. A friend had this problem, he did finally get rid of it, but it was some hard work! Good Luck

Windows is both good and bad. It really depends on what you are planning to do with your computer as to what OS you run on it. Most programs are built for Windows, which means that you must have a computer running windows. But there are exceptions, as toby said. If you use wine (Windows Software Emulator) you can run windows programs under a linux OS. Saying that, linux can be hard for beginners and can be very confusing. (you get the hang of it after a while )As for the security issue, it is known that windows does have many security flaws, but in the many years I have been running windows, I've never had a problem (maybe I'm just lucky! ) Running a good firewall and anti virus package will reduce the possibility of having your computer hacked also. The freezing and lagging problems will depend on the version of windows you are running (2000/XP/Vista) and how much RAM you have installed. For Win2k, 512mb was heaps, XP, 1GB and Vista, 2GB. Having enough memory will keep your computer running quickly and will stop it from freezing and lagging. But it also depends on what you are running while it lags. If you are playing games, you may find that upgrading the video card will make the game run better. If you would like to give us some more information about your computer (Memory, what you plan to do, what OS you would be running etc) and we may be able to help you make a good choice.

I agree with yordan, phpMyAdmin is a great GUI tool for playing around with databases. Can you please explain whether you are looking for software for a local databases (like on your computer) or whether its on a webserver. If your are looking for software for your PC, have a look at MySQL GUI Tools (http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/workbench/. There is three different downloads, the MySQL Administrator, Query Browser and Migration Toolkit. These tools may be able to help you out, and they're all licesened under the GPL. Good Luck

PayPal allows you to place links from your website to the paypal website using buttons. They give you the code to paste into your website, and when a user clicks the button, they are forwarded to the paypal website.Have a look in your account at the paypal website for the buttons and links you can use.

Screen Shots free screen shot thingy
jimmy89 replied to naro2212's topic in Websites and Web Designing
This more then a program that takes Screen Shots. It also makes movies from what you do on your computer screen, or on a specific section of your screen. It then allows you to upload it to the Internet to a server so you can share movies with friends, family etc. I tried it, it wasn't bad, but I much prefer Camtasia Studio, and then manually upload videos! (Even though it costs money!) -
Mysql - So Hard Come in here if you think MySQL is soo hard
jimmy89 replied to Cain1405241557's topic in Programming
All codes are hard to begin with. I remember when I first started trying HTML. It was driving me crazy trying to remember everything. Now, I can do it in me sleep! If you are finding it hard, I suggest reading a book that got me started on MySQL. PHP and MySQL for Dummies is a very easy to read book with good examples and will get you started on MySQL Programming. It also includes PHP so you can start making your own websites. -
Welcome to Xisto! To your first question, you can easily download either of the applications to host your own server. XAMPP is a cross-platform web server using Apache, MySQL and PHP plus some other tools. WAMP is the same thing, except its designed for windows and doesn't have all the features that XAMPP has. I have used both, and both are very simple to use. Once one of them is installed and running, you have a web server. If you go to Internet Explorer (or whatever browser you use) and go to LOCALHOST you should see the test page for the server you installed. Secondly, setting up the server is the easy bit, getting in onto the Internet is a lot harder. It depends on how your connected to the Internet, what hardware you have and what connection you have. Some ISP's don't like people hosting their own servers and block the HTTP Port (TCP 80). This makes it incredibly hard to host your own server. If you are allowed to host a server, you then need to be able to access the computer via the internet with your Public IP. If you have a router, you will probably have to use port forwarding to forward Port 80 to your computer's server port. For more information on Port Forwarding, and examples on how to forward ports with specific routers, go to https://portforward.com/. If you are lucky to connect to your PC via the Internet using a Public IP, your doing well! Now, if you have a dynamic IP address, every time you reconnect to the Internet, your IP changes, this is not good for a web server. To solve this problem, use a service like DynDNS (http://dyn.com/dns/). They will track changes to your IP Address and give you a name like 'me.dyndns.com' to connect to your server. Lastly, once you have a web server running, both applications that you mentioned include MySQL. This is a standard database that can be used with your websites. MySQL is used all over the Internet and is what runs these forums! WAMP comes with PhpMyAdmin which is a very simple-to-use application to manage databases. If you get to being able to setup databases, many people here can help you setup a database. If this seems like it is going to be very complicated for you, or you can't manage to do it. I suggest becoming a hosted member here at Xisto or at Xisto (Xisto's sister site) and hosting your site here. This means that all the hard work is done and all you need to do is make the website! Hopefully, this has been helpful to you, If you need any questions answered, don't hesitate to ask.

I don't think its that easy to just 'delete' the system32 folder! anyway, my suggestion is to try and restore the files using System File Checker.Firstly, get a copy of your OS CD, and put it into your computer. Then, open command prompt (Start > Run > "cmd" > Enter) and type in "sfc /scannow"This will attempt to restore all the system files from the CD, back to your computer.Whats the exact message when the computer starts up? Is it during the boot or after he's logged in? As for your first question, I use Comodo Firewall also. Once you get past the popup's and it becomes accustomed to your computer and the software, it works well.

I had a quick go of the Test Drive mode and it looks good. its fast and loads the images quickly. It also has lots of the features you would find in the proper version of Photoshop, minus the price. It also looks like its been developed in Adobe Flex! You can open and download albums from places like Facebook and Picasa.

My school used to have two DSL connections before they upgraded to cable broadband. It defiantly did make a difference with the speeds, but I'm sure, as others have said the cost for hardware would be huge!

you might want to check that the fantastico version is the newest version of agoracart (v5.2.002). If not, you can download it and manually install a copy into your website. If you were planning to create your own shopping cart website, there would be lots of work involved. If you didn't want to use the cart, you could allow your users to pay for their items via paypal (they accept credits cards as well as other methods). This would allow your customers to feel like they are paying for their goods in a secure manner via a company that they trust (and has buyer protection).
