If its really urgent and you need your password changed immediately,on the top menu of every forum page is the Free Web Hosting Menu. Under the Credit System v2.0 option, you can login (using your forum username and password, hopefully you remember that!) and change your CPanel password from there, note though, you must pay 10 credits to reset your password. A email will be sent to you with information about the change once your finished there.

Have a look at http://www.swftools.org/, they have a application called pdf2swf that allows you to convert your pdf documents into a flash document. This will load the pdf documents into and web browser, without loading the Acrobat Plug-In loading, provided that the end user has Flash installed (which is pretty common these days!) Hopefully this is what you were after, -jimmy EDIT: Also, you could try Macromedia FlashPaper, from what I can remember, you can change almost any printable document into a .swf file to do what you want with, in your case, imbed on a webpage.

I think that starting of small is always the best idea. Once you've got a grasp on the basics, have a read of the dummies guide to php and mysql (Details Here). It is a good introduction to integration of php and mysql. defiantly worth a read if you are beginning to code php and mysql.

Hi All, I am using Regular Expressions in VB.NET to find illegal filename characters in a string. The user enters and name, and it then saves the file with that name. I just need to make sure that the filename doesn't contain illegal filename characters. The characters are / \ : ? " < > | (is there any others?) I am using the following regex at the moment, but it doesn't seem to be picking up backslashes. Dim myRegex As New System.Text.RegularExpressions.Regex("[\/:?'=<>|]")Every other character it picks up, why just this one? Also the " character is illegal, how can i put that into the regex (at the moment it thinks its part of the code and not the regex) If there is another way to do the same thing, or a different regex, that would be nice! Thanks, -jimmy

Remember the battle between VHS and Betamax Tapes? They were competing formats for almost 10 years before Betamax stopped.

As most people know, there is two versions of High Definition DVD's, the Blu-Ray Disc (Sony) and and the HD DVD (Toshiba). It was announced that Toshiba will now be stopping production of HD DVD, which means that the Blu-Ray disc will now step up as the new HD format. Source found at http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ But what does everyone think? I personally haven't gone to the next step and purchased a High Def DVD Player, I don't even have a High Def TV so at the moment, this just makes my choice easier.

My guess would be to create an .avi file in something like sony vegas (or any other kind of video editing software) and put the mp3 to a black background for the length of the mp3. Then export this 'movie' as an .avi file. You should then be able to play the .avi file in a video player with the sub file.

How Not To Get Banned From Chats
jimmy89 replied to habbowhacked's topic in Websites and Web Designing
All chat rooms have basic rules for all members, much like the rules we have here at Xisto. Have a look at this topic here that yordan posted a while back. It has some good information on 'how to act' on the internet and in chat rooms. If you want more rules, look there! -
What Would It Be Without The Internet!
jimmy89 replied to iGuest's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I too must agree that the Internet has become part of my life also! That said, the Internet hasn't always been around. Instead of researching on the internet you would go to the library and get information (i still do that! ). Instead of emailing people, a letter would have been good enough, or if we really want to go back, a telegram! :PJust imagine what we would be doing right now if we didn't have the Internet! We wouldn't have this great community here, plus none of us would have our websites to look after (which doesn't sound like a bad idea now and again!) -
the newer versions of live messenger actually allow you keep the same display picture on any computer you connect with. This means that they must be storing a .png version of your DP on their server and it loads that one if the 'display picture' options is enabled. My only guess to your problem is when you connect to the service from a version of the software that doesn't support images (like meebo) the live messenger sees that you don't have a DP and returns the DP to the default.

This topic (Ways To Improve Your Performance In Windows XP has some good suggestions. Have a look at the similar topics box below, it has a few topics that you could use to help you!

you can try by plugging in the mouse into a different usb port. This will recognise the mouse and hopefully install drivers for it, if not, the mouse is probably dodgy. If that works, chances are that your usb port is not working. You could also try installing the drivers for the unknown device that is in the device manager!

The Best Free Alternatives To Nero Cd/dvd Burner
jimmy89 replied to dserban's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Back when I purchased my first cd burner (those many years ago ) nero came with the cd burner. Granted, it was only a limited version with a few features (no where near as many that nero 7 has nowadays) but it still did the job! -
Ive noticed that I do that sometimes now, I already know which application I've just opened, I don't want to say yes twice http://tweaks.com/ has a good list of Vista services that you can disable. It has details about each service, but I would recommend that you know what you're doing before you try this. You don't want to be disabling all the wrong things. Another good way of speeding up Vista is to remove some of the Visual Effects. Goto Control Panel > Performance Info and Tools > Adjust visual effects and untick the options that you don't want. I still wanted to keep the aero effects, so I left those options on, other stuff like animating windows and shadows, I turned off.

I have a dual core processor at the moment, and I have to say its nice to have that little more speed. For the moment, I believe that most people (the average population) doesn't need 4 cores. Applications like Video Editing, Gaming Consoles or Servers that require lots of speed will benefit from 4 cores (or more if thats the way its goes) but for most, it would be wasted. The way that computer applications and computers themselves are going, there will be a day when 4 cores will be standard (that might be past our time, but you never know ) and new applications and games will require the speed. But with that comes other requirements, which will probably increase as times goes too!

Grand Theft Auto 4 Launch Date vgrand theft auto 4
jimmy89 replied to kingamit's topic in Computer Gaming
I've been doing a bit of research on the game and found out some interesting facts. For those who know San Andreas (the GTA before IV) you could fly planes, jets, choppers and the likes. IV will only allow you to fly Helicopters, Rockstar said this was because IV's map is much smaller and flying would get you over to the other side of the map in no time! fair enough. The new 'break-in' cut scenes look very interesting also. When Niko (the new characters name) attempts to break into a car, instead of just opening the door and pulling out the person, a new cut scene plays. The cut scenes vary but follow the idea of Niko hot wiring the car, before driving off. He also looks behind himself while doing so (supposedly looking for police). The next major step forward is Niko's mobile phone. He can now use this more then in the older versions. You can now pickup the phone (using a button on the controller I'm assuming) and use the phone like you would a normal phone. It includes a GPS, camera and phone book. You can also call for a taxi to take you anywhere on the map (once unlocked) I think my most favourite change is the police interactivity. Before you used to be chased by police and your wanted level would go up, and finding hidden stars would bring it back down. Source: http://www.gta4.net/overview/ it sounds like it will be a good game, but im waiting for a while before i go and get it - maybe one of my friends will purchase it before me so i can give it a go! -
Grand Theft Auto 4 Launch Date vgrand theft auto 4

I saw some posters in a game store today saying 'coming soon', which could really mean anytime! -
I have my own laptop for all the day to day stuff (Toshiba Satellite) that is now only a few months old and an Acer Aspire (few years old) that I use with all my music gear. I also have a work issued Dell Inspiron Laptop that I use at work (and at home if I must! ). Yes I know three laptops sounds a bit strange, but thats life!I also have two headless servers (file and web) that live in the other room. I also have a garage full that resembles something like what a computer graveyard would look like. And too add to all of that, I have myself a old palm that was handed down to me (I love it when people upgrade )

I Cannot Format My C Drive....pls Help
jimmy89 replied to Abhi1405241549's topic in Websites and Web Designing
It looks like the problems solved (maybe...), but I'll throw in my two cents. The Ultimate Boot CD has a great selection of different software that you can use to wipe your hard drive. It can be a bit intimidating for a new user, but it can be very useful! Have a look at it at http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/. I have draws full of them if you want some, how many can I put you down for? -
The ones I have are plain and simple Fasterfox New Tab Button On Tab Bar - Makes making new tabs easy IE Tab - Not every site is Firefox ready yet! McAfee SiteAdvisor I used to have a weather forcast plugin, but it was annoying me so I got rid of it!
