His issue is not about simple mail services like gmail or hotmail or yahoomail. He's using some sort of mailing list and for which he's having issues sending mails to list. Most of his emails are getting into spam box. So for that reason he's asking us to give some tips or suggestions to avoid this problem for his customers.I guess he's info marketer or some mailing list owner or internet marketer perhaps. That is why he's asking question related to mailing lists. Only suggestion i can give him here is getting an auto-responder package with companies like aweber, mailchimp or madmimi. This way he can avoid the bounce or fail rate to his emails. This is the reason many marketers are using mail services instead of hosting mail program on their own hosting or server. The reason behind it is that if large number of users from gmail or yahoo flag the IP for spam then there is no way one can get emails. If he wrote emails by hand and send it to his mailing list individually then his mailer company is likely to ban him from sending those emails. In that he should use mailing list companies like aweber and mailchimp or autobot etc. These programs make sure he sends single email to everyone in his list without getting into spam mailbox. I don't know how much his email list is affected but most of the marketer ask users to enable 'safe address' to their lists. This helps not to get the future emails from him into spam box. Most of the programs like yahoo and gmail has safe list and hotmail 'not junk' button which gets mail from junk to inbox. So that should work in my opinion.

If you're using the autoresponder service from some hosting service or from spammed autobot services then chances are there that yahoo, hotmail and google will dump it to spam. Most of the generic email address which are spamming the internet ids are moved to the spam folder. Google, yahoo and hotmail use a pattern of text header and the message for the spam. Most of the forum registrations, opt-ins are these days getting into the spam folder. So i'm not surprised that you're getting the emails in spam folder. It is completely understandable that you're getting the emails to the spam folder. Few things to do is use the right program for the autoresponder. You didn't mentioned which programs your hosting? or which program you';re using for autoresponder or mailing list ? are you using shared email list software like madmimi or aweber ? You need to give more information related to this so that we can help you better. Most of the time shared email lists are easy to verify and that way you can easily get the email in inbox. Shared lists if hosted on spammed IP are likely to get into spam box if the rest of the email lists in shared lists are marked as spam by other users on yahoo, hotmail or gmail. So only option i can give you as of now is to switch to madmimi or aweber or mailchimp. They're quite strict about the email address you use for the promotion. Because most of the time they don't expect spammers to be entertained on their system. In that case make sure you have decent list and not made for spam. If you keep these things in mind then these service will help you resolve any mailing or autoresponder issues that you have. I suggest you not to use self hosted program to host your mailing list.

Eclipse in my opinion is too heavy for the slow machines. Same is the case with netbeans because it takes more resources to use these programs. As they're java based so there needs to be more RAM for the usage of these programs. I do think that these programs are good for serious development, but only if there are sufficient resources available. Otherwise there is no point in using eclipse on any lower config machine. Instead phpdesigner is much better as it is very low resource hungry and works fine on small machines. I have found it working fine on low end machines. So you can test it on your end as well. PHPDesigner is not free by the way and it costs money to get the pro version. I don't know lite or demo version is worth the effort of downloading it.Programmers notepad on the hand is much light like notepad++ or pspad. SO it can be used for the php development. I have used it on vista and it works fine for me atleast. It is very simple in interface and offers a lot of options. You can select multiple programming language and also use the software for direct debugging from the notepad. So overall it is one good program to use for php or any other programming needs. So if you have choice for using notepad type programs then either go with PSPad, notepad++ or pnotepad, either one of them is fine for your needs.

Somebody Steal Your Blog?
mahesh2k replied to dravid1405241559's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
There are many solutions to stop people from copying content from your blog. You can install "no-right click" plugin or avoid copying your RSS feed. You can also post summary in it that makes it impossible to copy. Like this you can do a lot of things to your blog to save it from hackers and plagiatists. So instead of plugins you can secure the wordpress in any other way. Phonefactor is more of a pain than solution. I mean if there is no range in area near you then phone factor plugin is likely to stop you from login. So it's not a good form of security. You need to choose alternatives instead of using such plugin. There are some security tips like disable folder browsing of the site, you can use such tips to stop hackers or people from browsing your site or sites folders. I don't know how much care we have to do but surely you need to do much more than just stopping them at login. -
Current data which is not backed up from the first disk is lost. There is nothing we can do other than sending it to drive backup company. In such case they try to get almost every recently written data from the drive. They do have some price tag which makes us think to sync the drive every day. Or take backups on drives like USB or SSD drives. I prefer USB drives and most of the time data from these drives is taken out if anything goes wrong. Let's consider your scenario. Let's say data is lost in first drive. But if you have operating system disk and the data in second drive then chances are there that you have enough data to work on. So you need to get one more drive for the installation and as base setup. Once you do that you can then install operating system and restore the files on this drive. So yes we lost the data from the previous drive to some extent. One thing about windows is that if OS is corrupt and causing issues with the startup or something like that. Then you can reinstall OS or format the specific drive. You can always keep the data in another partition and that way your data will be safe. Most of the folks who keep OS and data on same partition are likely to lose it. This is what i learned so far from my experience with backup. There is one software from symantec called ghost backup which backups system at the state you created image on. So always create a backup with softwares/keys installed. That way you can backup your system if there is no hardware issue but more of OS issue for the boot failure or system failure.
-
I always prefer second hard disk either USB or SSD is fine. I think USB disks are easy to connect and take backup. I take backup on weekly or monthly basis. Most of the time i need backups on monthly basis and i use the source files of design and code to sync with it. I also found that 500GB is relatively cheaper disk in the hd market. So it's not a bad deal for most of us. You can get 1TB but i doubt if that much space is needed for most of us. My needs are anywhere between 250-400GB per year. Much of unused data is removed once the project is done or if the files are no longer necessary or required. I'm considering using amazon s3 or rackspace cloud storage option. But as i have low connection here so it'll take more time to transfer data from desktop to the cloud. I guess that makes it hard to backup in such case. But if you're using wordpress then you can sync your database monthly or on demand to the amazon s3 and rackspace whenever you want. Other than that skydrive, dropbox and jungle disk (amazon s3) are the better option for anyone who wants to take backup of data. I have found skydrive much faster in comparison to dropbox i guess that is because of bandwidth slot feature of dropbox, that makes other options look faster. Anyway, cloud storage options aside, i keep one USB hard disk and usb keydrive with my important data and so far i have yet to lose any data with it. So i guess i'm backed up that way.

I Want To Know About Php Editors I want to know about php editors
mahesh2k replied to xhrist14n's topic in Programming
Geany seems to be ugly text editor and i think it is based on GTK version. So not sure if it is any worth installing. I do see some useful features for the text editor but other than there is hardly anything worthy. I found PSPad a much better alternative for most of the needs. I found that it is possible to integrate it with the compiler for C/C++ usage. So i guess it is possible to test it directly in the browser. I have found that it supports PHP as well. XAMPP and Uniserver will have no issues with working with PSPad but still you can ask about it in forums. Alternatively there is intype text editor. This text editor works on most of the windows version. I have tested it on vista. But not sure if this will work on windows 7. It is released as alpha version so chances are there that they may release paid version soon. It's not actively developed so no idea about the development phase. You can download the alpha release which works for 60 days on some machines and unlimited on old windows versions. So install it on your own risk. -
I have ubuntu linux running on my machine. I have VMware running on windows and under that i'm using ubuntu linux. I don't have the recent version because that way i have to use the net on vmware which i can't do. So for that reason i have disabled the vmware. Going to use it from virtualbox as it has less space than vmware. I have tried mint only once and after that didn';t tried to use it on vmware. I think ubuntu is good not sure why they decided to make mint fork. Is there any special about mint and has better things than ubuntu ? Debian is the root of ubuntu and mint is fork of ubuntu so it looks like there are two layers before mint. I don't know who uses such customized distros like mint. but looking at the stats of mint and the donations of mint, i think they're doing fine.

2012 there is going to be more changes in next OS. They're planning for the next OS in 2012 and so i think windows 7 will have shorter lifespan than vista or windows XP. Windows 8 will only require new hardware and it will run on most of the low memory configuration. This is what i have read from the online magazine. I have seen that it was tested on 512 MB RAM and it is performing fine like Windows 7. Also they're releasing separate version for both desktop and tablet in future in order to make the navigation and operations easier.I don't think windows 7 will be recieved in 2013 like XP. Because XP managed to survive for more than 9 years and counting. In case of windows 7 which was launched in 2009 i guess is yet to cover the whole market. Many new computers are still running on old hardware with windows XP. When windows 8 launches then i guess it is possible

Pay Per Load Adverts? does anyone know any?
mahesh2k replied to grim reaper1666's topic in Online Advertising
Popads.net is the one which i tested on high traffic site. I have seen that these ads are bypassed by pop up blocker. And most of the time these ads are also less annoying as they're high relevant and sometimes feels as if theyre part of the site. But the thing is that the rate of popads is dependent on the geographic area. If you're from US/UK then chances are there that these ads are going to work for you. Most of the european and asian traffic is useless for the folks who wish to use popads on their site. Also make sure that you don't use popup ads on your google adsense based site. Though rate of single conversion of popads overcomes adsense amount. But still they're not compatible. That way youre likely to miss on adsense ads. So i think you should consider using pay per load ads like popads on your image galltery or similar site. It works most of the time and has some good rate for relvant and geo targeted traffic. They also accept traffic and publishers from over 50 coutnries so chances are there that your traffic and site is likely to get accepted. I have seen few of my friends from other countries got acceptance as well. So try it if you want load based ads on your site. -
I have never seen Mycent amount getting high on Xisto forum. In fact i have seen it never changed at all. I guess you got two to three upadtes in one go and that could be the reasons it could be high for you. I see your mycents updated and in READY mode. So it is likely to be sent to xistodollars in few hours. I think this script is running very slow and that could be the reason you're not getting credited immediately. You need to feel glad that mycents are atleast update here on Xisto.com. In case of Xisto.com forums where mycents are not at all updating for quite some time. In fact writing 1000 words on Xisto will likely to give 0.010 cents or so to account. It's not about quality of the posting at all. It's about length and amount at which mycents updated. Many times they don't get updated at all. That could be the reason behind the loss of mycents in your account. So i think you should keep on posting enough length posts and see if they're updating for you. I have seen my update in about 3-6 hours. I hope yours get credited in few hours. If not then ask moderators to notify to support team. Because i doubt support team responds to members individually these days, so get help from moderators.

If you keep track of your old and new files and want them to open instantly then there are some desktop search and launch type of programs. I'm not talking about something like launchy but more of software that indexes the files and applications. Ans run them whenever some shortkey or mouse button clicked. These type of softwares vary from spyware to simple freeware. Google desktop used to be one choice for many folks as it was not only keeping log of local files but also internet search history. But it looks like software like google desktop is not longer being updated by the team. Another alternative like copernic is also going to be less effective because of no recent development. In such a case you can use 'find and run robot'. This software lets you do many things with it's interface. Not just click and launch but also indexing of local files. Some searches also include the file content so it is possible to search files effectively. Only thing is that it's not going to keep cache of internet surfing and also some other stuff that copernic and google desktop used to do. But for file searching it is quicker than windows file search or even linux files search. I have tried this software already and found it suitable for my needs. If you have similar desktop searching needs then check find and rub robot.

Internet explorer has buggy download manager and it often keeps you from downloading anything. I have also found that based on low connection, it stops resuming or cuts the download in between. If you're using firefox then there is no issue with download management. But if you're using internet explorer or opera then it's better to use official microsoft download manager. This software works with all the versions of windows. But not before XP, supported versions are from XP onwards. I did tried to use this download manager with cross over in linux. Not working that way. But for pure MS OS install it is possible to use it. Most of the downloads from the microsoft website can be easily resumed. You can also use it to download other files from other sites. Current limitation is that it is not supporting FTP based downloads. I guess that is because of security and piracy reasons. Anyway, here is the link to download manager.

I disagree. I don't feel like commenting on SE topics on this forum anymore. So i'll stick with my routine of mycent accumulation. As for the rest of the thread, i got accused for starting personal polemic, so i'm supposed to bow out of this. I hope this thread gets locked. Thanks for posting.

As already stated in post, yahoo, altavista, hotbot- all were there and still are and they don't track or use data against users.Even they were successful in that population and search economy earlier but they never tracked data and used it against users. I think you overlooked that point. You know this already, this applies to you. Not those who are concerned about privacy. I switched to private searches long time back. As for you using services like ask, mamma, hotbot, they're now meta search engines and rarely update. So that explains the quality of the data. Trust me. I handle lot of such types in other webmaster forums and there are some even worst than this. It is such pain that fanbois and wanna-be's make on any type of forum. Be it microsoft vs apple or google fanboi forums. It's too repeating and boring. What that guy was doing in this thread is basically trolling with that post and making remark without any valid point. I just separated troll from serious discussion, that's all. If he had any serious point to begin with he could have posted much better reply. But any way, in other forums we simply hit 'ignore' button to read only worthy replies. Hope we get things like that on IPB someday, this saves a lot of reading time. As for using google for business, by all means do it. Most of us in search industry do that. And only point is about privacy based search that i suggest to my friends and close group, that's because i don't want them to get manipulated by google or any other suspicious ad network. I'm not here forcing anyone or even asking to switch. Facebook privacy issues are related to API abuse and app abuse. It has nothing to do with users setting things by default and facebook abusing it. I yet to see such cases. On point of google using search results for manipulation- Google uses data for many purpose that includes political reasons, you can see fox news link in previous post. They used their data to make news against one country (defame case). FOX and other political driven media giants were responsible for afghan and pakistan soil attacks and google boosted their news network results during those events. They are the conservative groups in united states and google got sold pre-panda and post -panda to boost their results. You can see fox news results on top over any other news channel network. Only google knows in what way they can manipulate data and use it.
-
I don't think privacy issue is in anyway compromised and not even on the basis of money or something else. For example, take a look at google's data of porn searches from pakistan. Here is the news. Personally i don't like to defame any country or person based on such data no matter how true it is. I know religious conservative people are hypocrites and that's the reason they contradicted their nature that we see in this data. You can see the rest of the picture how it is going to affect if they managed to capture the pattern of people and their location. As this is possible because it's google and they have enough resources to do that. So if you're searching some keywords like that then chances are in future they know what you're doing on their search engine. With technology like +1 and web history they can even share this data openly to public as well. So you can guess the rest how close they're to publicly open more data attached to username/IP/Region to media and defame such users. Only thing you can ensure here is that you use scroogle or other private search engines which are taking data from google or similar to google and are free from privacy. Sure by all means monetize or do the SEO for google. But if you care for privacy of your family, yourself and friends then think about switching to privacy based search engines. There is no harm in that. If you don't care about your personal data and love to get manipulated by ad networks and think that is cool like the wanna-be intellectual who replied here in this thread before, then it is totally your call. It's not my business at all and i'm not going to call you fool like the guy who did here before. Few more misconceptions to clear- 1)Yahoo was search engine leader prior to google and the CEO of the yahoo is responsible for the internet growth and many things. Still they're not doing what google is doing with us. 2) Bing and yahoo turns on default search so kids or minors don't get adult searches by default. This is not feature by default in google and one needs to enable modeate search. 3) Firefox default has feature for announcing no-tracking setting from browser for users. Google chrome and their other products don't allow such feature. In fact they're all for open data for manipulation by their own ad networks. 4) Facebook doesn't share your name, pictures with advertisers and not even with apps. That issue is long gone. Google's orkut and other services even track and manipulate data no matter how much you hide it. Facebook's privacy is rated on much higher level than google because facebook doesn't track you based on IP/Region unless you specifically mention it. 5) People who care for privacy don't keep their data (pictures another stuff) open. They don't think they become any cool or wise by doing that. You don't have to reveal your personal data to get what you want on web. Period. 6) Google's revenue has nothing to do with this because they're earning more dollars from search marketing and manipulating both publishers and advertisers in every possible way. Their one department contradicts with another. e.g. search team vs adsense team, so advice and data from google blogs is often contradictory. Enough said.
-
That's rude. Not that i didn't expected any different from you. I think only wanna-be intellectuals who have no respect for privacy think others are fools and what google doing is right. For example, google released recently the data related to middle east searchers. They released the adult and the buying keywords to public. That's why services like scroogle and other privacy search exist for those who want to protect their interest and search keywords. Again wanna-be intellectuals will think services like scroogle and other privacy based search engines are fools to open such services and Bing restricting users on adult keywords is foolish, isn't it ? Nobody cares if likes of you enjoy google ads on their search results, it's about privacy. Spare this thread and low-lifers like us from the wrath of your high intelligence please. We're discussing privacy based search engine here and not some google fanboi topic.

Problem with dogpile is that they're meta search and in no way comparable to top search engine. They gather results from other search engines. I found that very ugly method of serach because such engines care only for first few pages of data. In case of DDG i found that they add their own bots data to the results. Also the results that are gathered from duckduckgo is much better in comparison to the search engine from which it was featched. e.g. Take case of lorem ipsum search string. You'll get the result in first page which is not possible in google and other search engine.Sometimes you want quick answers and duckduck go gives you one. As they're integrated with wolfram alpha so it's possible that they get better and quick results from duckduck go. This is not the case with dogpile because it is only fetching results from the google. So most of the results are the same in both google and dogpile. This makes no different to those who search for the data for their research. I do like dogpiles ways of funding their 10% earning to charity. I found that even duckduck go spends that much amount but not to charity but to FOSS from where they used technology to make this search engine.

Don't get me wrong, i'm all for free hosting and stuff. But we all work for something and in order to be serious it is better to buy the hosting. It's not expensive these days. Hostgator and some other hosts are coming at very low prices and should be considered over free hosting if you have commercial intention and don't want to waste time for posting. If you have free time and want to play with others in forum then by all means consider posting for host. But if you're serious even for minute then buying 5 dollar a month hosting using debit or virtual card is not hard and is better option.
-
Sorry for that. I got carried away reviewing this service and forgot to add the link to the site. You can see it in the second post of manuelka by the way. Other than that you can also add it on your browser like firefox, opera or any other browser. It will integrate easily and you can also use HTTPS version if you wish to encrypt your searches. Duckduck go uses backlinks from known and popular website as sign of quality. For example link from wikipedia or other popular pages will be considered in duckduck go. You can also consider using bing's SEO features for knowing how it works. Basically duckduck go uses custom algorithm with their own bot. Additionally they use wolfram alpha, bing and yahoo in their search. So you can see their attribution at the bottom of the search. Wiolfram alpha API is also used for mathamatical queries and you can use all the math functions on search engine. In my opinion this is one good feature of this search that it grabs the best of all other search engines.
-
Yes. This search engine is owned by single person and as his search engine is basically bot+filtered data. So it has less commercial intentions than google or other search engine. Google is more interested in personal information of searcher. As you can see or even ask in forum about validity of his privacy claims. There is not a single complaint or criticism regarding the privacy of duckduckgo. I think that explains everything about the search engine. Besides that it fetches data from Bing and Yahoo so it's also safe in terms of results. It is not removing torrent, warez and DMCA queries from the search. This makes it better choice for open web searching which google is not offering anymore. I mean warez and porn results are filtered in google which makes it more conservative and commercial search at it's worst. Because sites that pass for the search queires are basically adwords user and that is not good policy by google. What i like about that search engine is that it takes some data from wolfram alpha and that makes it much better than google. Google does have it's own math library to parse these qureies but in comparison to wolfram alpha it's nothing. One more thing is that privacy claims of DDG are verifiable as the owner of SE is open to such scrutiny. Asking him on their official forum will likely to give you better answer. I like to use scroogle for protected google search. Now that there is duckduck go i think i'll be surely using this search engine. My only objection as of now is usage of image search. They fetch data from bing directly, i wonder why they don't use their own gallery. That would be cool feature.
-
Duck duck go is getting popular these days due to it's relevant search results and privacy. Most of the search engines track personal data (like google) and then use it against users for ad display or release some public data disrepecting their privacy. Google released data related to adult keywords and put shame to few countries for searching some banned adult stuff on google. In case of duckduckgo they don't track your keywords and your personal information (like IP, region, search pattern or history). If you use their HTTPs option then all the searches are carried out in secure line and that too without any tracking. Another thing is that duckduck go is purely on carbon and MSN ads which are run not based on geographical location or search pattern but only on keyword. So you sitting in philipines may get ad from USA. I know this is bad targeting for advertisers but it is privacy feature that helps both advertisers and searchers. Duckduckgo has plenty of benefits and best feature of it is that it's made with FOSS software. You can read some of it's benefit on this page. They're also competiting directly against google in terms of privacy (which google never gives to searchers) by displaying big billboard ad of duckduckgo. So if you're planning to hide your activity (if you're in office or home for many reasons) then duckduckgo is best option. Duckduck go gets it's data from many sites like Yahoo, Bing and few other social networks. So monetizing for yahoo or bing gets you into duckduck go. Feel free to comment if you're looking for privacy based search engine.

Another Good Thing Gone -- Microsoft Is Buying Skype
mahesh2k replied to imjjss's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I don't think there was any valid discussion on that article. Instead it was more of rant against microsoft. I know for one that when writers can't make any valid point then they dug something from the past to accuse any company. I wonder why they don't call apple deceptive company ? Besides many of their actions are purely ridiculous and hardly ever make sense. Apple ruined many good products as well and they started flame war against adobe.Current state of Skype could be because of the staff layoff and other stuff. Most of the developers are likely to be in the team. But i guess they're cutting costs by laying off the staff and channelizing the staff in their department. So that could be one reason behind their slow progress. Not going to blame microsoft for this because skype had such downtimes regularly if we open old blog posts. -
Chrome skin may work for offline browser usage. I mean those which are downloaded already are likely to be reused for sure. But you can't choose them from any specific page offline. You'll be able to use the pre-selected by you again for offline use. In order to switch to another skin you need to go online again. This is my observation so far with the chrome. I don't know if there is some sort of sandbox for the skin management or skin modification for offline use. But you can ask that on chromium support forums. As for me i'm using chrome browser. There is also ironbrowser that is perfect for offline testing as well. You can try asking on their support forum for anything related to chrome or chromium browser and it's work.

Another Good Thing Gone -- Microsoft Is Buying Skype
mahesh2k replied to imjjss's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I don't think we have to blame them for downtime. I mean isn't that necessary ? once you acquire the company then chances are there that you integrate the new company with your products. Almost every company is doing that these days and i'm sure microsoft did no different for that. Take case of google and apple, even they ruined some of the good analytics and blogging platform and integrated with their own products. I have seen blogger under downtime more than any other site. I know that google has more fanbois to defend than microsoft but we're un-necessarily blaming it as if it's crime. It's not. I'm just thinking about people who bought subscription of skype. I guess these guys are going to suffer a lot. They lost few money and time in their business for sure. I mean guys who do podcasting or conference are likely to be affected more. Hope their phone or other service are doing good.
