  1. I just managed to play with jetpack settings and some widgets are already having some irritation on blog. I have noticed that gravatar vcard and sharedaddy is not important plugin for my site. So i decided to remove it from my website.I know that some people need it but my site has less feedback and comments so i thought it is hardly needed. So its good to remove such plugins from the jetpack. Now the issue was about removing the plugin from the jetpack without disturbing the rest of the plugins. You just have to 'deactivate' those plugins. Once deactivated they are not accessed by wordpress core and so there is no future conflict from these plugins anymore. Everything works in smooth way on wordpress blog. You can find out method to disable the plugins easily here. If you want to know how to disable in short steps. Then just go to jetpack tab and click on read more link of respective plugin. You'll find 'deactivate' button on that page. Just click on it and you'll find those plugins getting deactivated. I have done this already and found that for some annoying plugins in jetpack this method works.
  2. I was installing wordpress for one client and found that there was update from wordpress official team. They asked to connect wordpress.com to hosted wordpress. By doing this all the features (or part of) are moved to the hosted wordpress. Some of the features which cuts the load of using other plugins are removed using this jetpack version. I like this update and so i decided to share it here on Xisto. You can read about the jetpack related queries and information on wordpress.com blog post. You'll get most of the API related issues answer on that blog post. Some users also asked questions related to other hosted wordpress versions. I think you'll find enough support on the blog itself. There is lot of interesting stuff that this API ports over to the hosted version. Wordpress.com stats - This plugin comes with wordpress jetpack and there is also another plugin that asks for this data but will soon get discontinued. I think those who are using affiliate products or ads or other SEO stuff on their site should avoid google analytics as it gives more information to the google to ban you or reduce your ranking. In such case you get most of the stuff for analytics in wordpress.com stats. Again it is upto you to use other third party or this plugin. My preference is either use google analytics or similar other analytics for casual sites and use 3rd party non google for SEO and earning money stuff site. Sharedaddy - Wordpress.com community has like and share feature which is now possible to use it on this plugin. I don't think it's worthy to use but you can enable it for getting some google +1 or facebook likes. Polldaddy- You can also get polls to collect data for you from wordpress.com servers. This way you can save a lot of data on your own hosting. I found this feature more useful for sites which use excessive polling and voting features. This widget is now removed from the final version of jetpack. Wp.me shortlinks- Sometimes you don't wish to use sitename as it is likely to be too long. Also on twitter and facebook long URLs are likely to cause issues. So better to use this widget. After the deadline - This plugin checks for the grammar, length and some other text details and let you post only if they pass your previous criteria settings.Nice and cool plugin inside jetpack. Latex - If you wish to use too much math formulas and other details in your posts then latex is good options. Not for me but will help other folks for sure. There are few other plugins here as well for which you can read about them on official jetpack site. I have no idea about performance stuff related to jetpack. So i'll post about it later. Till then you can read more about jetpack and it's future on wordpress here.
  3. I don't know what you find wrong with opear. But opera is doesn't crash like chrome and has much stability than chrome and firefox. there are also some addons present for opera which makes it easy to use things. Besides that opera has do not track setting and also blocks cookies or adds which are hard to do with chrome. Though there are addons in chrome to do that but overall it is not so easy to do that. It could be just my observation but i have noticed this, you may or may not notice the same. Don't get me wrong i like firefox and large part of it is done using it. I prefer not to stick with one browser these days for obvious reasons. Another thing is that firefox release issues makes it hard for add-on maintainer to update the addon. I mean they updated version from 3 to 4 and now 5 ? i think this is too quick and there are hardly any benefits which are notiable on windows. I don't know if there are operating system tweaks or performance improvements. I have gone through the links about early release but there isn't much in favor of firefox. I mean not in terms of normal users. Many users found it hard to update firefox because of this release cycle. I'm one of from them. I also think that plugin_container.exe issue is not solved at all in this browser. So my opinion is to stick with mix of browsers instead keeping all the add-ons(eggs) or work in one basket. I'm going to use browser in swap way and use it to get better performance.
  4. I dont know if there is any thread for this already. So i decided to post this. I have found this concept on another forum and wanted to see if anyone knew anything about it. I found that this is open source virtual currency which can be generated using your computer IDLE power or by trading with others. I have seen few services accesing bitcoins lately. The current rate for the bitcoins is somewhere 15-20 USD. This looks like a good money but it is hard to earn bitcoins as the distribution by the system is limited. Also there is no central control and no chance of money laundering. This way i think there is not much of benefit from this virtual currency. But there are some games and sites already accepting the service for bitcoin. Some sites pay using bitcoins. Some sites also allow purchase via bitcoins. Some sites offer amazon, newegg and similar other shopping site coupons and cards using bitcoins. You can think of plenty of other options for using bitcoins. Unfortunately the paid visa cards are limited and only 25$ ones are always in stock. Maybe due to legal reasons higher priced cards are not listed. So that means bitcoin is likely to have some control over the currency soon. Some points i do like about bitcoin are that in countries where paypal is not accepted. Bitcoin is solving some payment related issues in such countries. Some people even managed to purchase things from us or uk based shops using bitcoins. so overall it is not much of bad thing. But looking at it's impact on the government and the trading. It might affect the business and the things around us for sure. There is question about bitcoin servers already and soon it may get hit from government but so far there is no such action. I don't think this will have any issues at all. So what is your opinion on bitcoins ? do you think they are worth to use as long as the issue of virtual currency is hot ? or should government start policing on the web for such currencies ?
  5. Don't get me wrong but i have noticed similar issues not only with EZBoard but also with other sites that offer free IPB hosting, or VBulletin hosting. So this is not just issue of ezboard. I think this is issue of sites which are having lots of resller packages and are hosting such things. For example, they are offering this service in exchange for the ads or space or paid package. So i think that is reasoable. But if you're looking for reliable service then it helps if you get paid package from another host. Because that is the only they're going to answer your support calls. EZboard or any free hosting site is not responsible for your data or any loss because it is free service and it is mentioned in their TOS. You do read TOS right ?That aside, you'll stil find good hosting with IPB hosters who host IPB forums for free. But they add lots of links and ads on your site. You may find that annoying and may even left the site because it is not user friendly at all. This is my observation so far in the free forum or hosting arena. You have to be very careful as well because it takes time to get some members posting and if you don't work on good hosting then chances of losing the money and members from forum is more. Plus free forum hosting hardly gurantees anything. So avoid using such services and start paying for your hosting, that's the only way to get good support.
  6. I think soon when 64 bit operating system starts to roll on modern hardware then chances are there that this type of discussion will come out again. I mean i'm reading this on most of the PC related information sites. I found that soon 64 bit operating systems are going to be on new modern hardware. That way there is going to be more RAM and Harddisk usage from these systems. So surely there is some interesting discussion on best operating system. We can not neglect that as more and more operating systems are going to make use of graphical and computing capabilities of modern hardware. This discussion is going to be based on how these operating systems are performing better with 64 bits capability. So i think we should not call it useless because those who can't take benefit of new 64 bit systems are going to stay in past and will not perform on new machines. So in my opinion their market will decide the lifetime of that product (OS). So be it gaming machine, business or casual usage machine. 64 bit OS are going to make these discussions more interesting. Pity that people don't compare OS like they used to earlier in 2000 or mid 2005-10 if i remember correctly.
  7. If we wait for others to create threads then chances are there are hardly any threads left on asta to comment on. Besides thread creation doesn't benefit OP most of the time and users just post hit and run remark and move away with their mycents. So if that is the thing and there are rarely any new threads then what's wrong if anyone replies to old threads ? As long as there is relevancy in thread, there should be no issue of spamming. So in my opinion there is nothing wrong posting relevant content on old threads. If you have issue with that then please ask moderators to close all old threads. As for topic, Dreamweaver doesn't qualify for free and open source as its commercial app. I agree that notepad++ is one good text editor and should be used even if you're beginner. So i don't know how many users are willing to pay for such web development kit. It's not text based editor either because it has many adobe specific features and tools. So most likely it qualifies as web development editor for sure. Most likely PsPad, Notepad++ and many other text based editors perform task for free of cost and can replace dreamweaver for most of the tasks.
  8. Opera is slow and steady is browser development. But atleast they're making less bugs than google chrome and firefox. For example, chrome has spell checker bug which crashes entire browser and starts with new session without saving the previous. This bug is still not cleared for me even with their new version. The chrome was in beta for more than year. I don't know why most of the services from google remain in beta for that long time even after the update of the browser. So i take that this is issue from google side and not from the chromium side. Atleast they don't have issues which are operating system specific. Opera also works much better in turbo mode if the connection is slow. So for me it is one good alternative for firefox. I have found that opera has much better releases in comparison to firefox. Only issue they have as of now is lack of add-ons. I mean there are some add-ons which are firefox specific. Even chrome lacks those add-ons and same is the case with the opera. So i guess it'll take some time to get opera those add-ons or even get attention of the developers on their side. So i don't wish to use them as of now and for my add-on usage i prefer to use firefox instead. Internet explorer has it's own web standards and for which i prefer not to update my site. Also there are many security updates for internet explorer. So in my opinion IE is not worth the switch. In fact i prefer buggy chrome or firefox over internet explorer any time.
  9. Snagit is commercial image capture program which used to video as well. But it doesn't capture audio stream as far as i know. So you have to use their another program camtasia video capture. It works for capturing desktop, Specific application or any other possible way to capture the video. So i think it's good if you're ready to pay for some commercial version of videos. They also offer free hosting for some videos if you purchase the program. I think most of the time if you share the video with others then chances are there that this program is perfect for both capturing and hosting the videos. So overall camtasia is one good screen capture video software for those who want perfection in their video capture. There is also one more program which is free of cost for download and usage. You can find it on google 'camstudio'. This program is also donationware AFAIK. So you don't have to pay if you don't have the money. Screenshot captor is another program suitable for image and video capture. I'm not sure if the video capture function is as close as camtasia. But i can tell you that they have some good features. They do have file export feature which allows you to export the file into multiple formats. There are also features for manipulating the screen with pointers and the text (custom) on the screen. So overall they have some good features for image and video capture. Only issue is that they're donationware (not that you have to pay unless you need to) but you need to get 6month license renewal. You can also apply for universal key even if you're not donated yet. But i think if you like the program then you can even donate 2-5$ which is fine with the owner of the software. If you're serious about video capture and the quality of videos then camtasia studio is one good option for you. It's paid software but it worth the money you invest in it.
  10. MSE actively checks the registration of the computer and that is why it is not available for many OEM based computers. Atleast not working on one of the dell machines that i used once. MSE is too strict with license policies so they have limited userbase. No doubt they're actively tracking the antivirus and some other crapware on the computer. But in my opinion they never made it to as close as 'malwarebyters antimalware' or even like AVG. So no competition for MSE here. Little bit off topic i guess but if we compare AVG vs AVAST vs MSE. Then i guess both the first softwares are getting under spyware or parasiteware title. They're likely to be having issues with userbase soon once they relaize the issues with these two antivirus. In case of MSE it only appears on registered or volume licensed users. As the OS iteselt belongs to the MSE makers so there is nothing for pre or upsell. So i think MSE is safe on adware and parasiteware side. But i can't say the same for AVG and Avast anymore. These two softwares are less likely to be used if they don't get rid of uniblue and similar other softwares. Otherwise maybe even FSF folks or other free software folks need to jump into this industry for virus removal market solution. Again, AVG used to be good with their integration for browser security and WOT. But as theyre involved into adware these days. We can't say that anymore about them.
  11. Okay just installed 7-zip from the portableapps site. I found that it's easy to extract into any directory. So i moved it from zip drive to hard disk. I found that it has no registry settings and is good for the computer. I wanted to add it in right context menu like zipgenius but then realized that two programs for the same task is boring thing. So just kept the 7zip as backup program for USB and for random hard disk usage. I'm sure i'm going to use it for some tasks of mine in future. From the tests on file format my opinion is surely changed for the 7zip software and now that it is free and portable, much better competitor for my current zipgenius install. I just tested the compression of 7zip and zipgenius. I found that 7zip was taking more space for tar.gz files in comparison to zipgenius. I found zipgenius taking few bytes more than 7zip for normal zip file formats. So i guess it may or may not depend on strength of CPU/RAM for this. But the results did vary for me. Both are capable of extracting RAR archives which are quite common in file sharing networks and docstoc type of sites. They can't do RAR compression because that format is proprietary and not for other apps. Most of the file format compression is supported by both the programs. I thought it's better to check all supported. But only found the difference between two of them.
  12. Google chrome is updated whenever there is fix or update in original chromium browser. So their updates are obvious and they're also made on request basis. But most of the time it is default download for most of the users. I have yet to see anyone waiting for the download of the chrome. I think only portable downloads are not supported for the automatic download. So i take that as issue with the portable updater and not from the google chrome update settings side. Okay i may turning off topic with this google chrome update issue, thread is about firefox 5. Firefox was also not quick updated these days but i guess they changed the things from version 4. I have found that the version 4 was immediately updated to 4.1. So maybe this could be the 'release early release often' type of thingy going on. I think this will work as long as there are more developers on their firm. Once they find less developers are bug reports then work of regular updates will be minimized. I wonder how many add-on developers got tired of frequent update from the firefox core. I think many even stopped the update for the current fix. I mean if there are less donation then less likely to have current updates. It's free work after all. So that is one reason behind less updates from the firefox addon developers.
  13. Slightly off the comparison part. Avast and Avira are now falling for parasiteware technologies like uniblue. You'll find that avira and avast are now carrying code inserted by uniblue. So chances are there that uniblue is going to ask you for recommendation in IE, Firefox and other browser. So that means these two are turning out to be scareware. There is no official announcement like this on avast site. But they'er slowly rolling it out on free member desktops. So chances are there that with avira it is visible but not the case with avast. You can find the uniblue addition inside avira in this article. There is a lot of talk going on in many forums these days. You can also find that once uniblue gets embeded inside avast and avira then it'll harass users with software recommendation part. I guess everytime they scan or login or in some random time. I don't see when and how but from what i can see it is going to be naggin with the window or popup for free users. I'm sure you'll notice that soon most of the free antivirus are going to use this method to either get data from user computers or use it for ad bombarding purpose. So there is not going to be 100% free antivirus unless open source folks get into this. So coming back to topic for comparison between AVG and Avast, my vote goes to AVG for not making such scary deals and using member computers for ad serving. I don't know when they'll make deal with companies like uniblue but as of now they're safe from all of this. So if anyone wants clutter-free antivirus then AVG should be the choice. For others they can choose any anti-virus of their choice.
  14. I'm using zipgenius software for the compression purpose. It is free and is actively developed. there are no new features coming though but just bug fixed these days. It is very easy to use that software and it is also available in right context menu. So you can add or extract with just few mouse clicks. It also has good compression rate and can also open through damaged archive if possible (unless of course if the archive is in condition for that). It is only available for windows operating system as of now and there seems to be no way it is going to get published for linux or mac. It is written in delphi.net so i guess owner of the program has no plans for the cross platform because then he needs to shift his code/skills for other language. Mono is also not option because there is no delphi version of mono. So no chance of cross platforming current code. I guess that could be hard for any developer and it is very time consuming as well. So i don't expect any cross platform version. One more thing about zipgenius is that the version is available free of cost. You just have download or regularly update when there is any. Author has support of advertisers on his site and that is how he's recovering the money for development. I have never used winzip after using zipgenius program. I have also used 7Zip but found it very crickey because sometimes it takes more time for the compression and extract in comparison to other programs. This may be on my machine, so i don't know if it's the case with most of you using 7zip.
  15. zPlanner seems to be one good software for project management. I have tried few timeline based softwares and found that they're good for general work. I also found that timeline based softwares are relatively hard to manage and expects us to keept rack of the work. So it's better to get simple software like zplanner. There is also vplanner which is paid version of the zplanner and has more features than the zplanner. But most of the average tasks and features in the zplanner are enough for normal usage. Time doctor is not worth time of casual time management of average user.Time doctor is more of perfect tool for the project managers and freelancers. I have seen many developers and freelancers wasting time online and time doctor can be a good monitoring tool for them. That way they can figure out how much time is wasted on such social network and other interests. It is much better than odesk time tracking tool which is usually made to track the time taken for the project management. Zplannet and time doctor has no comparison by the way. They're good at what they offer and are in completely different target market. Zplanner is much of simple software with less user interface issues and is easy to use. Time doctor takes time to learn but you can use it easily if you're into management softwares. There is also software called focuth. This software has demo which you can try before you sign up. Service is web base and basicallky free for now. Not sure if the owner has any plans for going to paid mode. But i gather that he is thinking about some improvements soon. You can signup and test the software if you want. I like the interface and the features of this service. There is no drag and drop for the tasks as of now but still it is worth to try if you're into quick time management. This software is free and worthy for those who spend more time online and want to manage their projects or other tasks. Another software that i know is 'remember the milk'. This software is in free and paid mode. You can use free mode as long as you like. It available in both gmail and seperate browser mode. It can be used in mobiles, ipad and other interfaces. It has option to list tasks and the remind the user about it. It is simple and does what it says. You don't need to use any complicated software for that as this is one good software that can do the job of simplification of time management.
  16. I think best depends on what you want to do with it. Most people who just browse the web, listen to the song, do office work or some other minor task are happy with both linux, mac or windows. It depends on which platform dependent app they use and for which they feel using windows. Many find windows organization of files much better than linux. Many find single drive stuffing way of linux more complicated. Many find windows slow or disturbed with performance for some apps. Some find apple based computers too expensive for their use. Some find apple enough for their needs. It's all depends on what you want to do with things. Based on that you'll get answer for the best. Recently microsoft changed their OS plans and soon they're planning their operating system, web based. So surely games, apps and some other third party apps dependent on HTML5 and Javascript. So all those folks who learned .NET and Java for the desktop and web purpose will surely get turned off with the new windows announcement. But still you can see linux improving more than windows if such type of windows release comes in next version. I see some decrease in number of windows users if windows 8 is purely based on HTML 5 and javascript. Because that way many will find their applications not running on new version of windows. Take case of linux, it is more dependent on internet. Without internet, it's hard to get software for the linux. Even compiling the source and installing software is quite complicated and not user friendly to be honest (no matter how much linux fanbois argue). So if any OS is dependent on internet for most of it's critical operation then it has limited scope for offline usage. Though some apps do work offline and can be used like windows but still there are issues. In case of apple, the operating system and hardware cost is like owing a car. Besides that apple design limits the features for users. Many features are limited and it's really hard to get apps similar to linux and windows for mac. Developer network has cost to join and in turn developing for apple goes more than windows and linux. If most of the developers are low on budget then surely they'll have issues with apple and will hardly develop apps for linux. So you can see there is no such thing as perfect and best for all. Just because large number of people use X thing, doesn't mean it is good or best. Operating systems are like religion and restaurants, people like it because of viral effect. But very few stick with it do get their work done and for their work purpose.
  17. Missing cursor bug ? Can you explain more ? Do you mean showing cursor while typing the replies or post ? If so, that seems to be present as i'm typing this. I do have issues with showing cursor while creating new post. In that case it doesn't let me type on the textbox, if that's the bug you're pointing at then yes it still exist on asta and i guess it is related to low speed connection from my side and IPB slow response. So i think this explains the bug for me. Not sure if this is the bug you used to face on firefox. I think most of such bugs except that plugin_container.exe process looks like solved to me. I want that bug to gone from firefox forever that day it'll be completely improved IMO. ;)I don't have vista running on this machine(on which i'm typing as of now). So i can't test that window tabs option. I think it looks very different on windows XP. Not sure how it looks on vista and windows 7. So can't comment on that improvement. So if these minor OS specific improvements aside, i don't think there is anything improved from the user interface side. All the things looks same to me. lol. I agree on that point. Maybe it's just us or is it related to windows XP users ?
  18. Some plugins will take some time to resolve the current issues with firefox. Skype had issues with firefox as well and i think that update will also come in few weeks. But still i can tell you that for sure it'll take some time for most of the known plugins to update. In fact in that time new update something like 5.1.x is likely to be there. So same cycle will repeat again. I know it's boring for those who are using the plugins for their work. I have seen these add-ons and compatibility issues are causing speed issues as well. So in comparison to chrome surely there is very low performance from firefox. Also chrome without incognito mode is not what i prefer to use. And with icongnito mode many add-ons on chrome simply don't work at all. So not sure if it's time to switch to chrome for normal browsing. Though chrome has new feature fast pages but still not sure if it's worth because most of the time they track your settings. But i think its better to use it if firefox is taking more time for simple webpages to load. If you have speed issues and want to use proxy to compress text and images then opera turbo is one good idea. You can consider surftan as well but it has limit of about 1GB per month per browser account. So i guess it's better to use opera if you're on low connection.
  19. That's weird. I'm one of those who never got pop-up or even window that says i need to upgrade. In fact many of my friends found out that for them it was auto updated but not for me. I guess it depends on internet connection. Firefox detects the speed or the settings with which we're using the computer and based on that they either create pop-up window or download and automatically install the software. Not sure why both these things don't apply to me here but i guess this is because of the settings in about:config perhaps ? not sure from my side. Few things i noticed about Firefox that few plugins like nofollow plugin, SEO quake and few others are not yet updated. So i take that we should better wait for these plugins and wait for updates in between. As for privacy based settings on need to only enable it in options. In order to make those settings you can follow these steps. 1. Go to Tools Menu and Click Options2. Click on Privacy tab.3. Check option - 'Tell websites that i do not want to be tracked'.4. Click on Permanent secure browsing mode.5. In permanent secure browsing mode, cookies are not stored and you have to login everytime you close the browser, so make selections carefully. 6. Click Ok and close the window.Once browser is restarted you can see the settings loaded default everytime you start firefox. From these settings you'll be in more secure browsing and with proxy or do not track type of search engines, you can get more privacy. So for those who are working in their office will find it much better to work with these settings. None of their cookies and logins are stored. Also websites can't collect geographic and other targeted data from the user of this firefox profile from now on. So that gives one a good privacy option inside firefox. Another improvement in firefox is that you can have tabs group. So if you want to browse favorite websites and work related websites then you can make a group of it and switch between the groups whenever needed. this maybe a good idea for those who work on browser whole day. I guess these features are going to make firefox consume more memory. So plugin_container.exe and other performance issues are going to be there for sure.
  20. I prefer to stay away from any automatic backlink generator programs. After the launch of panda there seems to be a bit issue related to the automatic backlink programs. These programs if detected by algorithm cause more problems than it could solve. So consider using build my rank, linkvana or similar other services. Avoid using services which do automatic link submissions. That is because most of the time it is seen that they're spamming some forums or blogs. It becomes difficult to monitor those links. You can't blame the loss of links on the programs as well. Besides PR is fake indication of quality website, so don't rely on automation tools. Another thing, both whitehat and blackhat SEO is part of business. It is just like offline business strategies. Just because someone used model from victorias secret or playboy doesn't mean they're sleazy brand or company. Just because they make use of women or attractive ad segments doesnt mean they're bad brand in offline one. Same applies to blackhat in SEO. Just because it doesn't go along the lines of your moral and ethic doesn't mean it's bad. You can simply ignore those marketers because they rarely get in ahead of better brands which don't spam. So you don't have to worry about those who spam or do aggressive marketing. SEO-Elite seems to be just another bot spending time blasting links on forums and blogs. You can think of it as similar to xrummer. These tools often create issues for the marketers who have no clue of where their links are being dropped and from where they're being linked. Many forum and blogs are discarded because they don't stand a chance for the better linking neighborhood. Also using these tools your site link drops in linkfamrs. Though there is no penalty for this act for bombing purpose. But there is also no gain from doing such aggressive SEO business.
  21. I agree that they're releasing a lot of stuff lately and most of the time they're either fixes or carry some advertising add-on to their system. You can also expect firefox 5.5 or 6 in few more months and before january 2012 they're going to bring firefox 7 or 8 i guess. Who knows ? So with last two update they're sharing google adsense revenue and that is why they added google search to the homepage. Also when you use google search in the search bar at the top, they get revenue share for the search done by the browser user. In fact any search done by the browser user gets credited to the mozzila unless it is done by the another persons site search or google revenue share code. This is what i noticed so far with their new revenue share module for search bar that supports -ebay, amazon, google etc etc. This could be the reason behind they have not added wolfram alpha and duckduckgo to their default search engine. Though these two are good additions but i guess they're not ready on the terms of revenue share with mozzila browser and hence they're not doing the revenue share with firefox. But you can manually add any other search engine like bing, yahoo, duckduckgo and wolfram alpha to the search bar using add-on. But otherwise there is no default settings for the firefox. As for windows upgrade, i think firefox will continue to support older version of windows for quite some time. I think they're supporting windows 2000 for some time now. I think they are slowly downgrading support and updates for old windows. But you can rest assured that windows XP will remain in support for atleast 2014. I think they're likely to remove windows XP when there is huge upgrade in windows .NET framework which don't support XP. Otherwise i dont think firefox will stop supporting windows at all. Still i didn't managed to get the security issues of firefox on windows machines. Only performance based issues are likely to be there for windows. I have seen many users having plugin_container.exe issue for performance. So if you're having that issue then try browsing the web using disabled plugins. This will surely improve the performance of the firefox. If not the i guess you need to start using firefox from safe mode. Also you need to disable the history and add-ons featuer while surfing. This may give some performance boost but it will take the joy of browsing out of firefox. I found some plugins helping me speedup using adblocking feature. But i guess if you are having performance issue then only option is to remove the plugins or disable them.
  22. Firefox released fifth version silently and without making much news about it. Still many firefox version 4 members are not yet upgraded to it. Many people found that browser is not auto-installing the new version. I'm one of from these people who never got their version auto upgraded. With this upgrade i guess things will be fixed. There are more than hundreads of things planned and released by mozzila. Version 5 seems to be the one released with complete HTML5 support and few other enhancements. One notable enhancement of firefox is that it is allowing users to specifically set browser to 'do not track' setting. By using this setting analytics, ads can't track your browser for their own purpose. This may sound problem for some ad networks who deceptively add cookies or filter ads dynamically. But those who are into behavioural ads system will find it much effective. There is no need for 'do not track' addon anymore. As for plugin update, there are many plugins which are likely to be broken in this new version. But many of my plugins are working without any issues at all. I found them working for me. I need to find few plugins which are compatible. By default xmarks, personas, ad blocker plus and sync works perfectly without any issues with new version. This is just case of my machine, not sure how it is working or not working for others. So far there seems to be fast response from firefox. On windows xp, there is no graphical enhancement seen. But thsoe who are using vista and windows 7 will find small tab bar at the top of window of firefox for tab management. I don't know how security wise important this release is. But if you want to upgrade your old firefox4 for this feature then you can do so. Personally there is nothing interesting update found by me. Maybe it is too early for any performance review.
  23. Godaddy is quite notorious with their offerings of domain registrations. So if possible try to avoid registering domains with godaddy. You can instead register domains with namecheap or any other enom register. You can also use xisto domains if you want. But avoid godaddy domains just because it's cheap doesn't mean they're good with their offerings and policies. You can read websites like nodaddy.com for more information on why you should avoid godaddy offerings. They're always bad on privacy and domain expiration/renewal and rights or property points. Though some may ignore it and forget it but the business practice of godaddy is not good.
  24. Price of the domain name was changed because of the change is prices from enom. As xisto is using domain reseller package of enom and the rates are affecting their package as well. So it's obvious that they're charging 12.95. Basically opaque increased 1 extra dollar and made it 12.95$. I inquired with other domain resellers who are using enom panel and found that they only increased 1$ for their domain price. So you can see that xisto is expensive for us with increase in 2$. Also if you're from asia then chances are there that opaque manually changed the account settings for those users to amount 1.25$ extra which goes to 14.25$. I have invoice of that amount with note that these are the taxes from xisto. So if you're from asia then chances are there that you're likely to have this charge on your account invoice. One more thing is that domain renewal if in auto mode usually makes renewal within 5 days of expiration. Sometimes even earlier than that. I have seen that happening plenty of times. I wish to make that on 5 days early but somehow system or they manually do that earlier than 5 days. As for autoresponder, why you're using Xisto mail or IP for that ? Can't you buy aweber or similar other service ? you can have that service without getting blocked on hotmail and yahoo. I already replied to your thread where you wanted answer but you didn't replied. Anyway, if you are into autoresponder business then i suggest getting a good mail service like aweber and mailchimp. This will help you from not getting blocked by any such service. Hope this helps if you see this reply.
  25. Just installed W3COunter on one website and the data is fetched for this week. I also got report fo the data and everything is similar to analytics. In fact it is more easy to access the information than analytics. I have noticed lack of goals and conversion feature in w3counter which you can usually find in analytics. You'll find that w3counter uses javascript and flash for the displaying the data related to website. It's much faster on any normal browser compared to analytics. You can join it for free with one site profile. For multiple sites and advanced feature like analytics and live view. You need to get pro subscription which costs only 30 dollars per 6 months. For one year subsctiption they charge 80$. You can use even free with 2-3 email accounts. That will be fine as well. The reason analytics shouldnt be used is because if you're using affiliate marketing site then google can penalize you. Most of the backlinks are easily checked by google and that is one reason we should avoid analytics for affiliate sites. For adsense sites, you can use it to track the adsense data. One more reason you should not use analytics is because of lack of live features which you can only get with other analytics sites like piwik, w3counter etc. So i suggest going for these analytics if you're into affiliate marketing. My experience with W3counter is good and i can suggest it to my friends who are into affiliate marketing. Surely they'll benefit from this feature. If you want less flashy interface with complete stats and details then icerocket tracker is one good analytics to track or to use. It's similar to w3counter but much easy and quick to load on low internet connection speed.
