How To Retrieved Permanently Erased Data On Hdd?
Atomic0 replied to animecluster's topic in Hardware Workshop
One thing to remember, install the Undeletion application on a hard disk or storage device that does not contain the accidentally deleted files. Otherwise, if you end up installing on the some hard disk / storage device, you may end up overwriting the accidentally deleted files (data is still intact, only reference to files is deleted) before you are able to recover it and losing all the accidentally deleted data.Although if the accidentally deleted files are not recoverable by software means, there may still be a remote possibility of recovery by specialised data recovery experts, although these data recovery services are expensive and the data probably isn't worth as much as the service cost. -
There are a number of different posts on other forums e.g. Devshed, which shed some light on how to migrate databases e.g. db2 to MySQL. By the way, a quick Google search often turns up useful information on any topic, including database migration. In summary, you can use specialised Database Management applications that support the different database servers / formats to migrate the data over e.g. DB Extract for DB2 (http://www.sqlmanager.net/en/products/db2/extract/) which exports DB2 databases in SQL scripts that can be run to recreate the data as a SQL database e.g. MySQL. Another option is the export the data held inside the databases into common format such as XML or CSV files that can then be imported into the database system you wish to migrate to.

I think you absolute right about these. From what I can gather from different sources and articles on the Internet, most mobile phone service providers have Email-to-SMS gateways which allows emails to be sent and received as SMS by the receiver. Unfortunately, this system is probably susceptible to spammers, since there doesn't seem to be any sort of validation required on the part of the sender, who can simply generate the mobile numbers automatically, add the email address of the SMS gateway to the number and start sending spam messages. If having spam in an email inbox wasn't enough, imagine having the phone playing the message received tone all day just because you are receiving spam messages.

Apache And Php On Vista The problems I had and the solution
Atomic0 replied to 8ennett's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Getting one of the one-click personal webserver solutions e.g. MAMP, WAMP, LAMP etc, is much much easier that setting up a webserver system from scratch. Having to install all the necessary software and extensions is time-consuming and annoying if you get stuck trying to configure something that simply refuses to work for you. Plus, these one-click solutions come completely pre-configured and occasionally comes with setup programs that simply any changes that you need to make with the webserver configurations. -
Build Your Own Custom Linux Distro [on Suse Studio]
Atomic0 replied to ysNoi's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Although I have used Ubuntu in the past (mainly for learning C programming), I have always myself drifting back to using Microsoft Windows, and more recently Apple Mac OS X full-time. I suppose for me it is not a choice of whether the operating system is free or costs money to buy, but rather how well it accommodates the programs I need to use. For example, popular applications like Adobe Photoshop, and the entire Creative Suite for that matter, are not available of Linux systems, which limits me what I can do.On the topic if custom linux distributions using SUSE Studio, maybe Microsoft should consider something similar for Windows operating systems, such that consumers can choose what feature and functions they need and want installed with their Windows installation and reduce the amount of unnecessary software that gets included. Or even, money-wise, users can pay only for the features that they want to use and have installed, which is an interesting model that is good for the consumers but one unlikely to ever get implemented (since this pay-for-features model would most certainly reduce revenue and profits for Microsoft). -
I wonder what next Google will send up into space, maybe satellites and even manned space vehicles. There probably are endless possibilities what Google could do, considering the billions Google receive in profits.@Qrntz, I personally wouldn't consider Google to be monopoly even in the search engine market, especially since there are other big search engines like Bing and Yahoo. Yes, Google may have a large search engine market share, but in my opinion Google isn't abusing it.@starscream, the official Google blog post (http://googlemobile.blogspot.de/2010/12/android-in-spaaaace.html) says that the Android phones and addition payload were housed in foam coolers, which probably protected from the extreme conditions of the atmosphere / space. Also, considering the altitude reached and the descent time, it doesn't seem like the payload and housings on the weather balloons were not travelling very fast, so air resistance was unlikely to cause heat damage to the electronics and equipment aboad.

Depending how useful your custom MS Database program is and whether there is a market based of user need, you may want to set up your own company and website to seek your product. With effective marketing through your website and advertising on prominent software sites, you should be able to easily sell your product. However, selling the product yourself may not be the best option if this is your first time. If you don't have the necessary experience, skill or investment, you may want to sell it to another company rather than pursuing this yourself.

Man Jailed For Shouting At Parrot Its exactly how it sounds

The teenager shouldn't have been intoxicated in the first place. I suppose he was lucky to get away with having to give his grandmother a box of chocolates, rather than receiving other punishments e.g. a good behavior bond, a monetary fine. or community service. -
Breaking Captchas Could Soon Become Illegal
Atomic0 replied to tansqrx's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Rather than attempting to stop bulk ticket buyers and their automated bots by using CAPTCHAs on their ticketing system, maybe they should instead limit the number that can be purchased per person or a certain address. On the topic of CAPTCHAs, they are getting more and more difficult to read especially for us humans, as CAPTCHA developers are trying to thwart Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software from being able to decipher characters from the generated CAPTCHA images. -
Google Experiences Second Glitch This Month
Atomic0 replied to BuffaloHelp's topic in Search Engines
It is simply not possible for Google to maintain absolute 100% uptime at this time. Like a refrigerator or other white goods, hardware will break down over time and needs to be fixed. I suppose it is the analogy with a water pipe. If it has a leak, you have to turn off the water supply before you can repair the leak or replace the section of pipe where the leak is. Google had no choice but to shut down some of their servers and networks before they could fix the glitches that were causing problems with their GMail and other web applications. It is remarkable for Google to even maintain such a high uptime percentage in comparison to other sites which suffer at least a few hours worth of downtimes in a year. -
I am sure that Google is trying its absolute best to "Do No Evil". It is just unavoidable sometimes that decisions have to be made that may contravene their central motto. In my opinion, Google has been reasonable and fair with its clients, providing great technology infrastructure services like email, search and office functionality at low or even no cost to users. The free services like GMail and Google Doc / Spreadsheets have been revolutionary in providing premium services at no cost to the enduser. On the issue of censorship in China, it is not Google's fault that they are being forced by the government to filter and censor their search results. Google doesn't want to do it, but they just don't have the choice if they are going to do business and make Google Search available in China. I am sure that the Chinese people will be worse off with no Google Search engine than having a censored version of Google Search.

The new feature in Google Search is actually called Google SearchWiki. Basically it allows users to vote up or down search results according to their relevance the user feels is appropriate. However, the ranking only applies to you only i.e. the changes you make will only affect the way the search results are ranked for you. This is done by storing changes to the ranking in the user's respective Google Account, avoiding any complications with changed Search Engine Optimisation that will affect other users. For more information of Google SearchWiki, check out the post on Google Search's official blog and the Google SearchWiki Features / Frequently Asked Questions page (support.google.com/websearch/?hl=en&rd=2&topic=3153588). By the way, it is in my personal opinion that such a system is not that innovative and useful. I just find the extra buttons and features unnecessary clutter, so I have disabled Google SearchWiki through the Google Search preference page (google.com/preferences) by ticking the option 'Hide the ability to share, promote, remove, comment, or add your own results' under the SearchWiki options.

Google Translate becomes very useful when you end up on the site where English is not the main language and another linguistic option is not available. For example, many portfolio written in languages other than English often only have one language version available, making Google Translate a very useful tool indeed. The only problem I have found with Google Translate is that Adobe Flash sites are not supported, simply because the Google Translator is simply unable to read through the text in Flash SWF files. Hopefully, they will implement such a feature in the future, knowing that newer versions of Google Search have allowed the indexer to index through Flash-based sites as well as normal HTML-based sites.

The method of using Google Translate as a proxy website doesn't quite work with certain filters. This is because whenever you enter a URL into the Google Translate, lets say mydomain.com, the URL of the site to be translated is not submitted via a POST method, but through the GET method i.e. you are redirected to e.g. https://translate.google.com.au/ with the original URL being part of the new Google Translate URL. As a result, the filters are tripped and the site remains blocked even though you accessed it through Google Translate, simply because the original URL has not been removed from the new URL and is visible to the filter software.
-
Unfortunately, you cannot but Google's translation box into your own website because Google simply hasn't given us the coding required to do so. However, you can integrate code snippet onto your website that makes you website instantly available in other languages via Google Translate (https://translate.google.com/manager/website/?hl=en&eotf=1&sl=ja&tl=en).Systran, the company behind Yahoo's Babelfish translation service, has a online service called SystranBox (http://www.systransoft.com/translation-products/online-services/systranbox/) that allows you to utilise their translation services through a form that you can integrate into your own site. However, it looks like you have to pay access fees to use the translation service from your own website.

The Gamma Xisto server must have previously been blacklisted by GMail, probably because a rogue hosting account user was sending out SPAM advertising emails, or just sending enormous levels of emails enough to trigger the Gamma Xisto server's inclusion on the blacklist. Personally, even though I had a hosting account here with Xisto, I preferred to set up my own email services with Google Apps running the email for the domain name. Apart from some minor configuration issues at the beginning, where I was unable to find out how to change certain records, I have been successfully using my domain with Google Apps (includes GMail) without any problems whatsoever.

If renaming or archiving files is a hassle, just upload them file hosting services such as Box.net or YouSendIt.com, which besides allowing you to upload executables in archive files e.g. ZIP and RAR, have a larger allowed filesize oftten many times the allowed filesize for attachments in webmail services like GMail.

The Google Mars project is a great addition to the Google Maps service, allowing people to see the surface of Mars where no human has step foot onto. However, the Google Mars web application would be much better if the images were provided in colour like what you see in Google Earth.

Area 51 In Google Earth do you know the coordonates
Atomic0 replied to adriantc's topic in The Internet
Sometimes I only get the "Sorry, no photos available at this elevation" when I zoom too far into general public areas such as residential or commercial. Usually, important government buildings such as the White House are blurred out on Google Maps, although it seems very unusual that the Australian Parliament House is not blurred and the image remains crisp at the lowest elevation. This blurring of images doesn't really make a difference, since you can acquire higher quality satellite map images simply by purchasing them from the satellite geography companies. -
If you are interested in utilising Google Maps as part of a separate project, you will need to learn how to use the Google Maps API (Application Programming Interface) found at: https://developers.google.com/maps/?csw=1 . The Google Maps API is accompanied with documentation (https://developers.google.com/maps/?csw=1) that will assist and teach you the basics in integrating Google Maps into your application project. Anyway, about your hurricane tracking project, it would be a bit difficult to create and constant update it considering the resources needed to get the meteorological information required for the map overlay. You may just want to have a look at existing ones like IbisEye, who have a 2009 Atlantic Hurricane Season Tracking Map already available at http://www.heraldtribune.com/article/LK/99999999/MULTIMEDIA/130429724/SH/ . It uses the Google Maps API to overlay existing maps with hurricane data and makes other hurricane mapping unnecessary as it contains adequate information.

Google occasionally pushes out new satellite when they become available to them from their sources, although images are usually updated for more popular area especially those within the United States. However, if you wish to keep up to date with the latest maps update being pushed onto Google Maps, you may want to subscribe to the Google LatLong Blog (https://blog.google/products/maps/), which is the official company blog that covers updates to the Google Maps service.

Can i see my house from outer space? Outer Space In Google Earth (new)
Atomic0 replied to iGuest's topic in The Internet
Microsoft's search engine Bing also has a satellite map site called Bing Maps (https://www.bing.com/maps). I think it retrieves the map images from the same satellite that source Google Maps, although Bing Maps does not let you zoom in as far plus images look less high quality than Google Maps satellite images. However, Bing Maps has a feature that Google Maps doesn't have, that is a bird's eye view taken from a aircraft instead of having to rely on distant satellite maps. Both mapping web applications seem to have their own advantages and disadvantages, with Bing Maps having issues with searching street names, inaccurate property locations (i.e. street numbers correspond to the wrong house on the map) and no Street View photos, while Google Maps have a more developed and matured product that only lacks an aerial bird's eye view. -
If you site has valid content and enough visitors, you can always put up advertising on your site, in the form of text ads or banner ads, although the amount you get will not be very much especially if you lack enough visitors to your site. A easier and more appropriate way for you to earn money would probably be to sell items like stock photography or illustrations online, through places like iStockPhoto.com and GraphicRiver.net . I suppose the final income you get from your work really depends on the quality and popularity with consumers who buy the final product.Another thing you could try is to sign up to survey sites, that pay a minimum of US$1 per survey you complete, although you will not always qualify or be accepted for the surveys plus they don't come that regularly (i.e. maybe around one survey per 2 days).Inevitably, it is difficult to earn money on the Internet without actually investing money into it. Good luck with your endeavours!

Seems like the your 'Alizee India Fan Club' site is down, because I seem to be getting a 404 not found error when visiting your site. However, if I visit the domain http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ without the 'home.html', I am redirected to SearchResultsDirect page that indicates the domain name expired on January 27th 2010, which was 2 days ago.

The only time I ever got to use Telnet was to interface with an old router. Nowadays, most routers have an integrated web interface for configuration, making it easy for people without any knowledge of Telnet to access and modify the settings as they wish to.From what I have seen, Telnet is more of an obselete piece of technology still shipped with operating systems of the future.
