  1. Not bad for a first try. I would recommend lightening the text on the woman's face, as it's kinda dominating. Oh, and add a border too, to finish it up
  2. Reaver. Nice background brushing with blending of render. Perhaps a little monotone, but is well polished nonetheless.
  3. I think it's "too hidden" amongst all the forum groups or whatever for there to be a lot of voters. Maybe a big link somewhere, or even a separate section for all the graphics items, would attract more visitors/voters.
  4. Hmm, I got a lot of games I want, a lot are out already, rather I'm too broke to afford them:GBA:- Final Fantasy Tactics Advance- Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories- Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones- Final Fantasy IV (coming to Japan on Dec 12)- Final Fantasy V & VI (apparantly in the works - eventually)PC (need a new one first):- Half Life 2 + Day of Defeat: Source- Age of Empires 3- F.E.A.R.- Black & White 2PS2:- SOCOM 3- Kingdom Hearts 2- Final Fantasy XII- Final Fantasy X-2 (haven't got it yet - and the Platinum version seems to be sold out all the time)- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (all the reviews are so good, and yet I still don't have it... *sigh*)
  5. I've noticed a good way to start with making text more interesting is to try something 3D and adding different textures or blending or whatnot to it: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ - is a basic 3D text tutorial. Also funky is when you use another image as the fill for your text, as seen: http://www.lovemyvouchers.co.uk/
  6. Yeah, overall everything is polished and presented well. As Avalon said, 400+kb is too big for a signature, but I was quite suprised by the other one, which was about 140kb. If you can keep them that size, I'd say it's quite a neat addition to any signature collection. Now maybe try getting some more depth in the background. Right now it's all brushed well - most of them anyway, but the majority of them still lack the textured or depth feeling. I really suck at getting depth in my backgrounds, but if you can do it (plus better text effects) you'll definitely be a pro
  7. They had to stop making the movies? Don't you mean they ran out of LotR books? - though a Hobbit movie from Jackson would be nice. The action LotR games are quite good (Two Towers and Return of the King), but apparantly the Battle for Middle Earth and that RPG one... the Third Age I think it's called, were average (or worse).I've only got the Two Towers, but I've played it quite a bit. The Co-op mode in ROTK is really cool though - I go to my cousin's house to play with him
  8. Nice one Samma. It has a soft feel to it, great render choice and Metal's brushes are used effectively... (and aren't too obvious ). Like the way how you emphasised letters in the text by using red. Definitely one of your best, if not the best
  9. You know, I believe I have a similar view as you. I like my personal space and time, and whilst not a total loner, I still often enjoy doing things as an individual. Actually, were it not for societal pressures/media influences, I don't know whether, at this stage, I (personally) would really care if I had a girlfriend or not. Among the friends that I have, the majority of them are in relationships, and it is a pain when going out in a group and they've coupled off. Same here, actually. Even my parents say I'm boring (isn't it usually the other way around?). Once again, I agree totally. I've often thought, that to me, suicide would not be something I would consider (as naive as I might be), as it would simply be a waste of life - If I had no purpose I'd be better off dedicating myself to a worthwhile cause/charity). An important aspect to point out. In that case, what does it mean to you?
  10. With FPS games, it's usually harder to attract a female audience. I know, though, that Mario Party (and other bright/colourful games) can encourage more involvement from the other sex .Sometimes with FPS, 4 players doesn't feel enough (especially after you have lots of experience playing online FPS on your PC), which I feel is the limiting aspect of FPS on consoles from being truly great multiplayer.
  11. Well, it's shut down until further notice, so I suppose it doesn't matter at this stage...
  12. The original Final Fantasy Tactics never came out in Europe/Australia (the PAL territories), so I've never had a chance to play it . I heard it even has Cloud .Is it just as good as Tactics Advance? Better? Worse?
  13. Generally it's much easier to have light look like it's coming from only one direction, and unless you really know what you're doing that's what I'd recommend. Probably keep the diagonals that flow from the top left to the bottom right, as it seems to be the way you lit up the render.
  14. Yeah, I immediately thought of Mario Party when "party games" was mentioned... Halo for partying? Hmm I 'spose it'd work...The N64 was the best for party games with the aforementioned Mario Party, and then of course Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Goldeneye... ahhh....
  15. Some nice brushing there. Font choice is interesting also, but the size of the "Gift" text up the top makes it hard to read - I'd recommend a different font for that. Perhaps try some effects on the main text as well, as it's just a bit boring as is. You'd probably need a bigger render for such a big signature. There is a large amount of just "background" showing, which, while is good, does not quite hold up on its own. Oh, and maybe try making the border width a bit smaller - a really thick black border doesn't work normally. Overall it's definitely your best, good job.
  16. Nice tutorial, though I don't know if we really want noobs to ***** that style (which is perhaps already overused).
  17. Ah yeah, that's the main char, right?Nice one Avalon, though you had to hide his green to make it work
  18. Yeah, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is awesome. I swear I've wasted way too much time on it for a Gameboy game... I still only managed 200 something of the 300 missions though. Awesome stuff...Rules were fine, but when it made the game stupid, they were the most annoying thing ever (ie No attacking animals when your opponents are all animals), which meant you had to restart, walk around until the Law had passed... oh and I didn't really find a huge need for Law cards (helpful in some situations, but the game could be easily played without them).I just loved the fact there were so many Moogles who did lots of funky things. Moogles are the bomb.
  19. Having animated banners I'd say you're better off using Flash. Animated GIFs are really not that great, and if you're going to try and accomodate different screensizes and whatnot, or loading times, I'd advise against it.
  20. Agree with most comments ^^I would also say, though, the font choice is quite good - but I don't like the effect you've put on it much. Something more textured or solid looking would be more suitable in my opinion.
  21. I'd do it, but I don't play Halo and I'm not sure what you mean by a robot from Halo. I did a quick Google Image search (Halo robot) and didn't find anything that I could see from Halo... If you want Master Chief you can't really have a red signature as it'd look really kind of weird, due to his metallic green colour
  22. I vote Samma. Good render and blended well. snlildude87: 0Blue0016: 0bluhapp: 0Avalon: 2Samma: 2hulunes: 0Saint_Michael: 2
  23. ^^ It's not so much regional affairs, coz he's not here yet but hey, it is a great place to live, weather wise, as long as you can stand the heat (or drought) in some parts, and the rain/cold of Tasmania (or sometimes Melbourne - though comparatively to the rest of the world it's not really bad at all).
  24. Nice stars and whatnot, maybe not befitting the render, but who am I to complain... but as everyone said the fact that it's so monochromatic really draws away from it...
  25. I know excessive quoting gets annoying - but generally I haven't found it to be too much of a problem. Besides, it's easy enough to scroll past a quote as it's quite clearly marked. Personally, I quite like quotes - it makes a topic easier to follow, especially when it is 1+ pages, so I'd rather some excessive quoting rather than none at all and getting lost. Some people may just do it out of habit anyway, and are not intentionally trying to be a nuisance. I agree, it really ticks me off when people answer the question, when it's already been answered. I reckon it's worse, though, when people ask the same question that has already been asked and answered in the thread! That's just laziness when you're looking for answers. In terms of answers popping up several times, well, some people are too helpful, or maybe believe they have worded their response in a clearer more concise manner. I have done this myself, when a question has been answered, but perhaps not as clearly as I would have put it. I then posted my response, which whilst generally indicated the same instructions, would have been clearer (at least in my mind). atomicnacho has a point about Xisto having this problem in particular, and I agree, that some blame can be placed on the hosting credit system in place here.
