What some people won't do just to gain access to someone else's computer! Really sick! Do any of these "virus writers" even have a life? -

10 Yr Old Girl Becomes Microsoft Qualified no bs
bureX replied to Saint_Michael's topic in General Discussion
They probably went soft on her... I'm not saying that she's not smart, but what would you do if a ten year old girl would walk into your office to take an exam like that!? I'm very suspicious about this, especially after everything I have seen here in Serbia... Let me say a few words about Marko Tasic, the "wonder kid" from Leskovac, Serbia. He started blabbing about some compression algorithm made by himself that could fit the entire contents of the Belgrade National Library's books on a single CD! Then, he started to convince people that he found a way to make your old Pentium 1 machine run as fast as a Pentium 3 one!!! Now, here's the cherry on top of the cake: He claimed that he got his "doctor's degree" in only one week after starting off his studies on the New York Institute of Technology! What's wrong with this picture? Well... 1. Nobody has ever seen his work, nor did he ever demonstrate his work! 2. Running a Pentium 1 machine as fast as a Pentium 3 is silly! 3. Compressing an entire national library along with all of the pictures on only one CD? DREAM ON! 4. You cant get a doctors degree in the New York Institute of Technology at all! 5. He demanded to get more than 100000$ from his sponsors so that he can continue his studies in New York... But, a one year fee for studying on Harvard is 45000$, up to 52000$, and for his university, it's only 18000$ to 19000$!!! Before his trip to the USA, the city of Leskovac sponsored his flight! (Thats pretty expensive for a poor small town!) He even received a medal for his "efforts"! During his scamming days he was on TV, in the newspapers and was topic number 1! They called him "the Serbian Bill Gates"! Even his family was involved in this scam! His grandfather claims that he built a robot when he was only 10 years old that helped his grandmother around the house (by picking up breadcrumbs and food leftovers from the kitchen)!!! LOL!!! Eventually, his lies were exposed by a forum ( http://www.elitesecurity.org/ ) here: http://www.elitesecurity.org/t72240 (and many others, but I dont want to belch out a whole lot of links here that you wont be able to understand) - This link is the link to the topic that Marko Tasic posted, claiming that he found something "marvelous"... He wrote a piece of code in C++ that could start a JAR java file (a simple execution command, very few lines of code, two words NOTHING SPECIAL)... But, JAR files can be executed within windows with a simple double click!!! Many members of that forum explained that to him, but he was apparently so mad that he registered as a new user and posted something like "Wow, that's great! Keep up the good work man! I even heard that you sold this program for some cash! Don't let these guys discourage you!" He was busted, as you can see! He even didn't bother to hide his IP! He laid low after that and after many additional embarrassments on that forum (such as posting an way better compression algorithm for images than JPEG, once again, he was exposed)... He even got busted in a whole newspaper article: http://www.elitesecurity.org/pub/im006159%20genije.jpg (it's in Serbian, so don't expect to understand it, but you get the picture) I thought that this was the end of the story... but apparently NO: He appeared on TV again claiming that he developed a programming language that even a beginner and any advanced user can use! Developing programs using this programming language can enable you to run your applications in Windows, Linux, BSD,... and any other operating system!... See for yourself and look at this sick joke!!! http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ (this site is in English, so you can understand it) This is Marko Tasics home page: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ (poorly designed and barely functional with 60% blank pages, hows that for a web site of a super genius???) Again, no concept, no examples, no NOTHING! ONLY EMPTY PROMISES AND LIES! If anybody around here lives in New York and runs into a man named "Marko Tasic", please wrap him up in some tin foil and mail him over here so that we can all "run a Pentium 1 PC with the same speed as a Pentium 3 PC together"! So, you see, dont believe anything you see on TV! You all know that TV stations will do anything to bulk up a story and rise it above the clouds! BTW: thablkpanda, thanks for pointing that out! VERY true! BTW2: The girl obviously isnt that mature... I mean: Can be translated into something like this: Q: Bill, why cant you hire me to work for you!? A: Because working in Microsoft is not an exact equivalent of lollipops and rainbows, my dear! -

bureX replied to Microsoft's topic in Web Hosting Support
Whoa! Be careful when using those quote tags, Microsoft! -
Not another one??? PLEASE search the forums before you start a new topic! If you want to contribute to the Xisto community, don't spam it with already posted threads! Do you think that Xisto would survive if every topic would look like "Mac vs. Windows", "Windows vs. Linux", etc. http://forums.xisto.com/index.php?shol=Windows+Linux + probably a bunch of others... Have a nice day!

Actually, I try not to think about what would happen if I: - Found 10000$ on the street - Would receive a 10000$ check from an unknown stranger as a gift - Won 10000$ on the lottery Because that's the EXACT thing that is stopping you from getting your paws on those sweet 10000$! Quit your day-dreaming and start spending your time on something productive and you will have 10000$ in no time (still, I dont mean in minutes)! However, if you prefer to earn 1 million$ instead of 10000$, you can take a look at this link: http://www.msn.com/en-us/money

Try doing a search on the word FIREFOX ( http://forums.xisto.com/index.php?actighlite=firefox ) and notice the message: So, after all these "Firefox vs. IE" and "Why choose Firefox" topics, I assure you that the Xisto members ARE aware that Firefox exists, and most of them USE IT! Please try doing a search before you post a new topic, after all, you can read the signs around here, right?

What's going on here? It seems that Linus Torvalds (the creator of Linux) realised that he can make some cash with his creation - actually, it's NAME! Linux is now a registered trademark, and you must pay in order to use it in your distribution name! The registered trademark Linuxďż˝ is used pursuant to a license from Linus Torvalds, owner of the mark in the U.S. and other countries. If you are panicing, don't! Linux is still free, but it's name isn't! I think that that's not such a big problem, is it? SUSE linux will simply be called e.g. "SUSE", RedHat Linux will simply be called e.g. "RedHat OS"... Remember: This does not affect Linux users in any way! However, it's a bit confusing to see that Linus Torvalds decided to take this step...

Currently, we have 20 emoticons available. And I think that's quite enough! I have seen forums with lots and lots of add-on emoticons installed and everything looks pretty much awful! When reading posts, every second word is an emoticon, which makes the post very hard to read! Some people even submit a post with ?? as it?s contents! Usually "lots of emoticons" means "lots of spamming", so we should concentrate on making quality posts here instead of bulking up the forum with emoticons...I think that I used only these during my whole membership at Xisto (even though we have 20 of them available):

BTW: MenuetOS - It's an operating system written entirely in assembler! Link: http://menuetos.net/ If you are looking for a Linux distro that fit's on a Mini-CD (200MB) or on an USB drive (128MB), take a look at Slax! It's a live CD version of Slackware. Highly recommended! Link: http://www.slax.org/ -
What You Hate In Websites Shere your point
bureX replied to sader's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Here's my top list of what can make a website look very ugly and drive me off it: 1. Unreadable text or text that "burns your eyes" Yellow letters on a black background? Purple text on a ping background? DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT! The CONTENTS of your site is the most important part of all! If I can't read that, what am I supposed to do with your website? Scroll down and look at the pretty pictures? 2. Unnecessary GIF animations Why the heck do you need a HUGE "E-mail me" GIF animation next to your e-mail address??? What's up with the weird "back" gif animation that takes allot of time to load? You dont need it! If a visitor wants to go back he/she will click the Back button in their browser. If he/she wants to e-mail you, your address is already displayed for them, right? (they can recognize a @ sign by themselves) 3. Counters Do you really like to show your visitors the stats of your site? Why would they EVEN CARE about it? If you want to keep an eye out on your stats lately, hide the counter, or simply use a non-aggressive one (small, text based and placed on the bottom of the page, or on any place where it won't get in the visitor's way) 4. JPG pictures that are not optimized for the web There it is - a small JPG picture... And why is it loading so long??? What's that? You saved a JPG image with a 100% quality? Does anybody even notice the image quality on a web page? A small decrease in JPG quality can make your images way smaller while keeping their quality at an acceptable level. Only make high-quality JPG's for your site's header, but make sure that everything else isn't that big. 5. The famous "ENTER site" pages Cool, I'm on your site, I entered it already! Why would I want to enter it again? It's like having two front doors combined on your house! If you like to display any messages to your visitors, make them visible on the home page of your site. 6. Alert dialogs "Hi! I'm Joe! Welcome to my site! You can e-mail me at xxx@xxx.com". So, why did your welcome message just popup on my face when entering your site in the form of "WARNING! YOU DID SOMETHING WRONG!"? I mean, the warning icon combined with the requirement of clicking on the "OK" button to continue is not a very good welcome, is it? Use alerts for alerting! (e.g. You entered an invalid e-mail address) 7. JavaScript effects A clock next to my mouse? A bunch of dots following my mouse? So, instead of moving my eyeball a bit down and aiming it at the bottom-right corner of my screen in order to find out what time is it, I have to look at the freaking clock that is following my mouse cursor! I'll tell you what: When my wife is having a baby, and I'm walking around nervously the hospital hallways back and forth, I won't keep my eyes of the wall clock, OK? 8. Crappy flash intros "Welcome to my site! *TRANSITION* Made by Mr. xxxx *TRANSITION* Click ENTER to enter the site *TRANSITION*." So, you want me to take a look at your weak animation skills or having to watch your message text "blast off" until I get the "Enter site" link? Sorry, not gonna happen. (Note: Something like this, combined with allot of awful, annoying and low-quality sounds, can take a very long time to load, and is an even deadlier cocktail for your visit counter!) 9. MIDI background music Gee, I would really like to meet the guy who made it possible for users to stick in their own MIDI background music that the author of the site is probably hooked-on. I simply don't get the point! If your site is somewhat similar to http://www.disney.com/ or you are making a site for your garage band, you can may insert sounds inside your website. But when I say sounds, I DON'T mean MIDI files or music that takes a long time to load and eventually drives your visitors off the site! 10. And finally... ADVERTISING A few banners won't hurt. But pop-ups, pop-unders, fake windows falling down on the center of my screen, HUGE banners or too much of them can really drive your visitors crazy! Google AdSense should be quite enough. Using a "FREE SMILEYS" banner on every corner of your page will take allot of time to load and will even decrease the usability of your site. Here's a tip: No matter how many aggressive ads, ads that are not related with your site's contents, pop-ups or pop-unders you place on your page, they won't make the user click on them if they are not interested in them, or if they are annoyed by it! If I took a scoop full of vanilla ice cream and served it to you in a bowl, you would eat it, right? But if I started to wave it around your face and dip it in your nose, you would think twice before putting it in your mouth! BTW: If anybody wants to take a look at the worlds worst website, here it is: http://www.angelfire.com/super/badwebs/ <---- YUCK! -
Same here! This is not a cure for terrorism! Even if they monitor ALL of my activities on the internet, they will not accomplish anything, but will invade my privacy!Probably every terrorist is not THAT stupid to send plain text e-mails!(their e-mails are probably well encrypted, hidden inside attachments or written in some sort of a "code language") Or to communicate in any other insecure way!Getting the source of recent DoS attacks, viruses etc.? No way! Most DoS attacks are caused by malicious programs that are on another person's computer! (and that person doesn't know if it's even there) Viruses spread from an unknown source through innocent people?s computers unnoticed! Solution? Give the man a heart attack by bashing his front door open and point a gun at his face until he "surrenders peacefully" because ?he broke the law??So, what are they trying to prove? That I ordered a pizza through the internet? That I am using windows update? That I'm currently downloading a Linux distribution? So what?"Ehm... Excuse me sir, but you recently checked your e-mail through GMail. GMail is a free to use e-mail service, you wouldn't happen to be a terrorist now, would you?""Sir, this is your 2nd order of pizza this week! You should know better than to eat junk food! May I recommend snacking on a carrot next time when you get 'the munchies'?"What's next!? Well, I don't want to find out! I signed the petition as well! I sure hope that many people do the same!

A 4 Gigapixel Camera The Gigapxl Project
bureX replied to sxyloverboy's topic in Science and Technology
24GB? Wow! Now, 24GB is really allot of data! What to do if I want to shrink it down, apply some filters to it or change the color balance!? I know! I?ll grab my hard disk and drive down to the nearest NASA headquarters and ask them politely if they can take a break from administrating their satellite system for a few minutes so that they can edit my picture !By the time when we dive into the world of GIGApixels instead of MEGApixels, I hope that our processors will become more powerful, our RAM memory expanded beyond 24GB so that our pictures can fit in it, our monitors enlarged so that we can see more of it and our hard disk capacity expanded many times so that we can save it! Hmm... That?s not such a big list of requirements -

Google Talk Talk and IM with your friends for free
bureX replied to serverph's topic in The Internet
This is still a BETA, but it's surprisingly stable!I already have ICQ and MSN (together in my instant messenger - Trillian), and I managed to setup Google talk to run inside it using the Jabber protocol (As far as I know, Google is using the Jabber protocol for instant messaging), but I can't use any VOIP features yet . Just hope that Cerulean studios release a Google Talk plug-in soon! I don't want to stick in a bunch of instant messengers in my system tray and slow down my computer so that I can stay in touch with only one person that uses a different IM protocol than me... -
Is it just me, or does a very huge number of topics (identical to this one) already exist on Xisto?

Make Money By Programming Or Web Design? How? Your NORMAL suggestions here
bureX replied to bureX's topic in Business Forum
Good for you! But,soredtherose.com domain is for sale beehivemail.com only accepts registration from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom & the United States. You must be over 18.Here's the bottom line:All of these companies (as stated in the terms of service) have the right to delete your account and refuse to pay you your earnings if they suspect that you spammed, used click bots or simply "cheated". (Spedia Style) So, overall reliability is equal to ZERO! You are not sure if you will ever receive your payment or not. Some companies simply pack up and leave! As for me, I'm up to 160$ on RentACoder.com and I'm enjoying my membership so far! I love coding, but this is a whole new experience for me. Coding for others is not very simple, but I can get the job done! I know that my work is appreciated and that I'm going to get paid for it! -
Hard Drive Freezer Trick have you ever tried it?
bureX replied to serverph's topic in Hardware Workshop
Hey, you've got nothing to lose! Besides, while doing it, you can take some pictures and post them here, or create a small "Freeze you HDD - HOWTO" page You should try this: Put your broken HDD somewhere in your room so that it adjusts to your room temperature. Next, put your HDD in a plastic bag and place it in your freezer for a few hours (or overnight). While the HDD is "chilling" , you need to prepare your existing system for the recovery process... Make sure that there is enough space left on your working HDD because you don't want to run out of it while you are copying all of your files! Also, try to copy the most important files from your damaged HDD first before doing the rest... Remember, this is a very time-crucial process! You can only do this a couple of times before the HDD finally stops responding even to this treatment! Read this before continuing. https://www.pcmech.com/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ PS: The worst thing that can happen is that the HDD doesn't get detected by the BIOS But, the best thing that can happen is that you can get your data back! Good luck! -
True...Just make it simple! Don't spam! TALK like you usually do! If you like talking with people about something that you are interested in, than you can do it here also! Plus, you get hosting credits for it!Take this post for example: I posted a friendly advice and I got some hosting credits - simple, yet very fun and rewarding!Enjoy your stay at Xisto!

Well... You're right (unfortunately)! The summer does mean a great decrease in sales... But not in all cases! I'm working on RentACoder.com, and I'm not noticing any decrease in activity at all! People WORK here especially during the summer! No school means more time for coding! (kind of like a part time job) Only a few of the "regulars" on RentACoder are on vacation (people who do this for a living)...So, sales have not decreased that much! Only the buyers choice of merchandise is different! Your buyers are still there, but they are not really in the mood to buy new computer hardware when they are on vacation! However, try selling them some stuff that they can use on their vacation (waterproof casing for cameras, memory cards for cameras, mp3 players etc.) and you may get results! Some people (like me) go crazy for computer stuff at any time, while others buy them because they have to! During the summer, they can take a break from that, so they will rather buy a beach ball from you instead of the newest model of the AMD Athlon 64 processor .Still, you can't avoid the usual summer slump! People are spending more money on their vacations and that means less $$$ for us ...

Some editors (such as yours) may use different text formatting (such as UTF-8) and may, sometimes, add some invisible characters that PHP sees as characters that have already been outputted to the browser! Really stupid, indeed...So, be careful while choosing your PHP code editor, or just use Macromedia Dreamweaver! If you choose to stick with your current code editor, make sure that you have chosen the right text formatting.
