  1. Taken from: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Lil' Google's homepage: http://www.google-kai.com/ Crazy, or cute? You decide!
  2. Spider egg omlet? Mmmmm... I can really freak out when somebody is eating something pretty much... well... disgusting! For example: Baked rats, dogs, bats, insects or snakes.I saw on a documentary movie once that some tribes have weird traditions, one of them is the annual eating of the dog... They believe that they will gain the dog's "powers" by eating it!What I don't get is the fact that they keep the dog for a few years in their village and take care of him, even better than themselves! But, when the time comes, they will strap him to a tree, and bat him to death. Then, without removing his entrails nor his hair, they simply grab him by the legs and wave him above a camp fire. When the dog is "cooked" (barely), the eldest member of the tribe gets the back side (the butt) of the dog (that's an honor!). Others get different parts of meat from the dog.Gone off topic back there, but still, it proves that some people have a different view at the world, so, while eating spiders may be a standard thing to some, they may see us as disgusting savages who like to eat allot of beef...
  3. Jesus! I hope that this topic is just WAITING to be closed or deleted! (mods?) I mean... This is the stupidest post I have ever read in weeks! Windows 2000? Dude! The name says it all: "2000", that means that you are about 5 years late! People are talking about Vista, and here you are making really weird posts about Windows 2000! Yeah, you are new, and you are struggling to make some hosting credits, but you probably can do better than that! On top of all that, you even failed to write that post yourself! Instead, you copied it from this site: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ (sorry for being so rude, but this isn't just plain ol' spam, it's just your good ol'-fashioned stupidity!)
  4. C'mon, spiders are not that bad! (Unless they crawl up into your bed in the middle of the night) My friend owns a tarantula (Brachypelma Vagans, "The Grinch", to be exact - http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/), and we both know that it's not that poisonous, but it's sting is allot more painful than a bee sting, and causes more swelling, so you can never be to careful! Here's a picture of the cute little thing: Tarantula bites: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ ...and some evidence that some spider bites are pretty much dangerous: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  5. That's nothing! You can also: - Become a millionaire just by buying a book (worth 5$) and following the instructions inside it - Get a free Sony PSP at any time - Enlarge your pen*s in a week - Buy Microsoft Windows pro for 20$ - Win Screensavers, smileys, cursors and cash rewards - etc. Get real! Why do I (and some other members of Xisto) have to snap my fingers around so that somebody around here can get back to the real world? I mean... Think about it! WHY would somebody give you 400$ just like that? Would you do that? So, again, I'm the only one that must read the TOS (Terms of service)... And here we go (only the most interesting parts are included): No refunds... And no guarantees... They can simply click the "DELETE" button and you're all gone! (and they will probably do it) Spam... They reserve the right to lower the current earning rate at any time... Don't complain! Or else!
  6. Indeed! Great find, Mike!Just hope that they don't start placing banners if this gets pretty popular!
  7. Is that "HOT NEWS" or is that a plain rumor? Do you have any links to confirm this? I know that major fast food companies use "battery" chickens, and I think that scientists have engineered a featherless chicken a few years ago, but I don't think that they keep them alive in any sorts of tubes... This is disgusting enough: http://www.downthelane.net/battery.php
  8. Well, as I'm writing this, my hands are pretty much sweaty because I needed to upload something on my hosting space urgently... Instead, I was "greeted" by a nasty surprise:When I tried to login into my FTP account, my password is accepted, but the connection process freezes when it tries to establish a passive connection. So, I tried to upload my files VIA CPanel, but I was once again "greeted" by a nasty surprise:When I tried to access my CPanel, I couldn't even get to the login part! I simply got the good ol' "The page cannot be displayed" message from IE.So, what's happening around here? Could the admins check it out for me, please? My CPanel username is "suwifi".Thanks in advance! Cheers!
  9. Ok, now... This is weird: No comment...
  10. The phpBB group announced the "Halloween Special" release Nothing special, but it would be nice to install it!
  11. Well, the only errors that I found in your code were a missing semicolon... I replaced "CallMyFunction()" with "RandomFunction()", added the missing semicolon and compiled the program... Everything works! I don't really see what could be wrong with your code... Try doing some debugging and watch the "X" variable change during the execution of the program.
  12. @floresid Just saw your post... And, yes, other countries should also join in! Unfortunately, some are just trying to compete with the USA, instead of joining forces By the way... NASA is not playing with toys! If it wasn't for them, we would still look at the stars at night and think "Wow, maybe I could reach them with a stick"... @tuddy It is in our nature to explore the unknown! The Moon is just another pile of rocks in space, but it's a great step towards the heavens! If I told you that a transistor can act as a switch, you probably wouldn't care, but that switch, multiplied by millions, is your PC! Get real! If we stop exploring space, we will just end up like the dinosaurs! (sounds like a cheap SF movie, but it's the truth... there are lots and lots of meteors out there, and one of them will be on a collision course with Earth one day)
  13. Don't think that NASA doesn't know that it takes radio waves allot of time to reach the crew! All NASA satellites are even more distant from Earth, but they still "survived" in space because they don?t require new information to be received every few seconds or minutes. The crew is well trained in case of an emergency, and they also have an escape capsule! Pretty neat! Finally NASA took care of that severe security problem... Still, if man could land on the Moon back then, there's no doubt that we can do it again, but this time (I hope) we are here to stay! It looks like NASA is trying to give astronauts a chance to actually live on another planet by learning to exploit it's resources. If they find a way to do that, then this is going to be another small step for a man, and another giant for mankind!
  14. OMG! It seems like you REALLY want that computer!Hope that this poem get you at least one step closer towards it...
  15. Just reconnected and resumed my download, and I am starting to receive pieces of the files, but when I checked out the peers in Azureus, everybody is at 77%! So, when I hit 77%, my download will probably stop too :)The file is downloading, but very, VERY slow... Guess there is nothing else to do but wait...BTW: Very interesting article!
  16. I don't have very much experience with torrents, so bare with me here :)Azureus says that there are "0 seeds (69 in a swarm)", but my download progress is now 74.5% (slooooooooow). So, that means that someone is seeding this file from time to time, and then disconnects? Before I downloaded his file, the website that tracked that torrent showed me a 100% health status... I don't think it matters anymore ;)So, all that I can do right now is wait, right?PS: If I find the same file (that I am downloading right now) on another site as a torrent, can I resume it's download? Thanks for the reply!
  17. Hi everybody! I'm having some difficulties with my bit torrent client - Azureus. When I download files (I usually download files larger than 400MB), the download stops at a random percentage (but usually at the second half of the file)! 1st issue: I was downloading a 700MB file, and by the time it got to 99.3%, the download speed hit zero. I was stuck in a "swarm" of other bit torrent clients that have also downloaded 99.3% of the file, and nothing is happening!!! I left it alone for about 4-5 hours, came back, and still 99.3%! I was so mad, I stopped the download and deleted the whole thing! 2nd issue (right now): I'm downloading a 1.3GB file, and currently, it's 73.6% done... Before that, the download speed was very satisfying! When the counter reached 76.1%, things got slower, and completely stopped at 73.6%! Now I'm praying for even a few bytes to download! Like the 1st issue, I'm stuck in this "swarm" with other users that also have 73.6% downloaded, and nothing's happening so far! Is there something that I can do to fix this problem? It's driving me nuts! The file that I am downloading is unusable until the download finishes completely! Here's the screenshot of some of the peers from Azureus (as you can see, they are all stuck at 73.6% too):
  18. Oh, what the heck? I should split all the chairs in my school in two because I know that a repair man will (try) to fix them afterwards, and maybe I should litter as much as possible because I know that a garbage guy will pick it up later! That's not very clear thinking, is it now? When you throw your candy bar wrapper in a garbage bin, you do nature a favor, and you make the job easier for garbage men to dispose of it properly... If you had a bad day, you may want to throw trash outside the trash bin because "If I have to work hard, why should I make the job easier for somebody else?". Well, if people would throw less trash on the streets, maybe people wouldn't have to get employed to pick up trash for a living, but to take care of local parks, trees and gardens, thus making a city a better place to live in. Besides, littering is just plain rude! I mean... If you are able to throw your used tissues on the floor, you can easily do it at your house, or at somebody else's house! What's stopping you? How about this? Would you like to see this in your street?
  19. I don't get the point of turning up your headphones very loud... It's VERY bad for your hearing if you listen to very loud music for more than half an hour on your headphones. Not only that, but other people can hear what you are listening to if you don't have a decent pair of headphones! Most people will just think "I like this song, and I like it so much, I just might turn up the volume so that this guy sitting next to me hears it too!". Well, that's usually what I try to avoid... I don't want somebody to hear what I am listening to, because I immediately try to put myself in their situation - how would I feel if a guy sitting next to me started playing some loud & crappy country music on his iPod or USB mp3 player??? It is my opinion that doing this is an equivalent of stuffing your face with a big mac meal (releasing some sorts of pig-like sounds), or sneezing like a complete retard, holding your chest, instead of your mouth/nose, while somebody is standing next to you!
  20. LOL I know what you mean... I'm from Serbia too , and I am also a "satisfied" user of Telecom Serbia! (like there is another provider here, right?) I had some rough experiences with this company myself, so I'm going to vent it out here... Here's the situation: Just bought a modem (wow, a modem, you don't say? ), but my phone line is an analog one. Speed? Well... It depends, during the evening, I can't even connect (VIA dialup, of course) to my ISP! If I hold my fingers crossed long enough, I just might establish a connection! (but usually before 5-6PM, or after midnight) Yahoo! Now, let's do some browsing: Open up 6 Internet Explorer windows, type in the address in every window separately, and click on "GO". The Connection Status icon in the system tray is blinking! Hooray! 1min later, one page is opened! (a few pics are missing, but it doesn't matter, right?) I find something that I may want to read and I open it in a new window, when I finish that, another page is opened! Yay! Now to open new windows from that one too! 10mins later, I have filled out my taskbar to the MAX and I am ready to disconnect! (are you wondering why? well, you needed to pay about 300CSD (din) to your ISP in order to buy "10 hours" of dial-up online time. That's why it's important to hang up as soon as possible!) Now, what about downloading? 1MB, 2MB? Yipe! Sounds big to me! It's going to take forever to download that, and probably my connection will "snap" right in the middle of my download! Because of all this crap, I said "enough is enough"! I need a digital subscriber line! So, I went out to get one! (sounds easy? well fasten your seatbelts ladies and gentlemen) I visited Telecom Serbia's office only when I needed to pay my monthly phone bill. Now, it's different... I'm asking for something! When I tried to ask anything about a digital telephone line, the "nice lady" simply "threw" me a piece of brown paper (VERY low quality, your toilet paper is better than this) that appeared to be a form! OK... Let's fill it out! The form asked me for the usual... Name, phone number etc. and last, but not least, a reason why I want a digital telephone line... Well, I'm going to be honest, I typed in "To get a better and more stable connection to the internet". When I brought back the filled-out form to the "nice lady", she asked me to pay a small processing fee... Great... I walked home and used my crappy dial-up connection again waiting for the day when my phone line will be able to handle a normal dial-up internet connection... One month later, I received an envelope that looks like it has been sealed by a retarded ape. I opened it up and started to read: "Dear sir, due to lack of technical coverage in your area, we are unfortunately unable to supply you with a digital subscriber line. However, you will be notified when we do." Two more forms, lot's of arguing with Telecom?s "technical support" and THREE YEARS LATER, I received a nice envelope in my mail that contained the "blessed" message! Yippee! I got a digital subscriber line!!! WOW! 4-5KB/s download speed, stable connection to my ISP and the ability to connect at any time of the day simply brought tears of joy to my eyes! (pathetic, isn't it?) But, the story doesn't end here... Everybody in my house started to drive me nuts and wanted to use the phone when I am online! When some Wireless ISPs started to offer 128k connections with a 100MB download limit (you can buy additional MB at any time), I became a "wireless user". Now, I don't worry about my phone line being busy, and my connection is allot faster, but the Internet is still considered a "luxury item" in Serbia! That's probably why it costs ALLOT! (and Telecom holds all the strings that need to be pulled to get a decent Internet link for ISP?s around here) Want more? OK... In time, I became aware about the real quality of Telecom?s "services"! Corruption, unprofessionallism and plain stupidity drove many to the edge of insanity! Allot of unread stories are out there, but I am only going to write a few of them here: 1. Getting a phone line This is usually plain corruption! A person wants a phone line, and what happens? Tons of paperwork, "sorry, we don't have any technical conditions in your area" letters and "kind" technical support are going to rip your head open... What they are really asking for is "place some money in an envelope and pass it to me under the counter, you will have a phone line in no time!" 2. Getting a PCM You don't even have to ask for a PCM device on your phone line, they will give it to you free of charge sooner or later! How nice of them! So, what is a PCM device? It's the devil's box! A PCM device can supply two phone service subscribers by only using one phone line! Making voice calls works perfectly! But your internet connection speed is CUT down by half! (28kbps) The point? Telecom reduces the required number of wires for their phone line installations by half! So, even though you are smiling when you get a brand new phone line, you may turn your face upside down very soon! 3. VoIP??? Everybody knows what VoIP is... But that's just another plot that will keep you away from dialing your phone, according to Telecom! Some ISP's were offering VoIP services and had many satisfied users... Unfortunately, Telecom closed the ISP's link to the Internet without any warnings! 4. ADSL ADSL finally was introduced to Belgrade (not Serbia, of course, but Belgrade, as always)... Everybody peeled their eyes out when they saw at the fastest available service that offered a speed of "768kbps"!!! What's wrong with this picture? (Except the fact that you can barely even get ADSL in Belgrade, and nowhere else around) Take a look at this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ADSL_Lite Quote: There always has to be some catch when you are trying to do business with Telecom... Well, there are many other adventures with Telecom, but I don't want to make this huge post even bigger (someone might start crying). Any questions? (except "Why won't you sue the bastards?", you already know the answer to that question yourself) By the way: If any major phone companies are reading this, PLEASE come and visit Serbia as soon as possible! Thank you!
  21. Well, there is one thing that is needs to be cleared out here...Which OS is actually usable? You can write documents in Windows XP, Menuet OS, DSL Linux, SUSE Linux, Fedora, Slax etc.But...You can't listen to music in Menuet OS. You can't do any serious writing without e.g. OpenOffice on your DSL Linux installation. You can't run SUSE nor Fedora on slow machines. You can't compile new programs on Slax without an add-on module. You can't run Windows XP as an online server. So, what is "USABLE" anyway? Every OS is usable, but only if you FIND it usable! Want a distro that you can install on your old and slow PC? Use DSL!Want a small and flexible live Linux CD? Use Slax!Want a very small OS that can let you take a peek inside the world of assembler? Use Menuet!Want a complete Linux distro to use at home, work or to install on a server? Use SUSE or Fedora! If you want to play games and/or do video editing, or if you are a beginner, use Windows! So, every OS has it's good sides and bad sides... It's up to you to choose what is usable and what's not. Make a list of your demands and expectations from an operating system and choose any OS that you find fit!
  22. I also advise you not to try to access a network without the owner's permission! It's against the law and you can get into some serious trouble (very serious) if you don't stick to the rules! However, there are many WEP cracking tools available (and some of them are used by the FBI as an example on how little effort it takes to break a WEP encrypted wireless network!) Here they are (there are plenty more, but these are the most popular ones): WEP crack: http://wepcrack.sourceforge.net/ AIR snort: http://airsnort.shmoo.com/ Remember, ONLY USE THEM FOR TESTING PURPOSES (these tools are perfectly legal, and using them on your network or on a network with the permission of it's owner is also legal, but don't do it unless you don't have permission!). More info here: http://www.tomsnetworking.com/ If anybody would like to see how their WEP encrypted wireless network is really insecure, use these tools to prove it! (Or just switch to WPA instead and save yourself from all the trouble) @rvalkass There is a workaround. An attacker can use a packet sniffer tool and find out somebody's MAC address that is white listed on the wireless network. (If the network is unencrypted, or if the attacker breached the WEP encryption, of course). When the attacker obtains the MAC address, he can replace his MAC with the white listed one and easily connect to the "protected" wireless network! Once again: Use WPA!
  23. How about a single floppy Linux distribution? Try hal91: http://jspiro.tripod.com/linux/hal91.htm It can run on a 486 processor that has a math coprocessor and on any newer PC... It requires no hard disk because it stores itself inside the RAM, but after you restart/shutdown your PC, all the changes are discarded... Unfortunately, this OS is pretty minimalistic (but what do you expect from a 1.44MB Linux distro from 1998?) and it is not very usable... It can only mount FAT filesystems by using the mount command, so it can be used as a "rescue tool", but still it's a better idea to go for the good ol' Windows 95/98 startup disc . Hal91 hasn't been updated since 1998! So it's a good idea to try some alternative mini Linux distros instead: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  24. Actually, Marko Tasic is not comparable with this girl! I used Marko as an example in order to show how some TV stations can overdo it sometimes!Still... Pakistan + Female + Computers = ? (I'm not being a racist, but this doesn't add up, sorry )However, if her parents were able to provide her with a good life in Pakistan, while keeping her safe from racism (?You?re a girl! You can?t do this, and you can?t do that!?), and providing her with a computer, then we all should give them an applause! That's not an easy task to accomplish in such a country!
  25. No problem...I used spaces between the brackets to prevent the forum from parsing that code into an image... (although, I could use the CODE tags, but I forgot all about them )
