This looks like it could be quite usefull, I have been looking for a feature like this for Firefox for a while now, I was previously using the Google Site Filter thing (labs.google.com) but I didn't really like this. But this looks like it is just the job, not that I plan on ever needing it, but for someone how was not to good at detecting phishing sites it would be a great tool, I just hope that the data base can grow to a stage where it will find most phishing sites. Nayway thanks I will definately try this extension out.

Orkut.com - Google's "friendster" Anyone have an invite?
dontmaimyourself replied to dodgerblue's topic in Search Engines
Ok so thanks to MutantSwordfish, I now have me an Orkut account so if anyone would still like an invite just send me a PM or an email: unchosenone@gmail.com (again thats my general email address, so even if you don't want an Orkut invite but the pixies tell you to talk to me you can send stuff to that) -
Well It looks like I am going to agree with most of the people who have replied to this topic. Indeed AVG Free Edition is a very good anti-virus program. I don't really have any experience with Norton (just what I know from others, which ain't all that positive) anyway AVG definately gets the job done, a great antivirus definately recommended. Of course Anti-virus is just the start you should also have a good Firewall and Anti-Spyware scanner, for which I would Recommend Agnitum Outpost Firewall, and either PC tools Spyware Doctor or Microsoft Windows Defender, all of which have kept my PC pretty well protected. Well they made it stop restarting randomly which is always a good thing. So yeah AVG is definately the best free Anti-Virus software available and indeed one of the best overall.

Ok so I hit my good friend Google for an online font recognition tool, (I knew I'd seen one before just couldn't remember the url) which got me to here: http://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/, which suggested the font was called (and I have to say I agree it does appear to be this font, if not it is very similar (I doubt most people would notice)): Microgramma Bold Extended So I went back to Google for you to see if I could find somewhere to download this font, unfortuantely from what I can tell this appears to be a commercial font. But I found this font: MicrogrammaDBolExt already installed into Windows XP, I didn't install it, however if you do not have it this font can be freely downloaded.

Google To Take On Geocities Google Page Creator
dontmaimyourself replied to dontmaimyourself's topic in Search Engines
Right so a few small things here, ok:Firstly: The problems I was experiencing in Firefox, now seem to have been fixed.Secondly: I found a link to delete files, so they can be removed. (its the little bin icon after the size, btw)p.s.I know I could have stuck this at the end of my first post, but its getting kind of large and I felt this wouldn't get the attention it deserved hidden at the bottom of a large post. (if this is wrong feel free to merge the two, and point this out to me so it won't happen again) -
Windows Live Messenger The New MSN Messenger
dontmaimyourself replied to scab_dog's topic in Software
I've got 3 invites left too, if any one wants one, I don't personally use it though as I have hated all versions of MSN since they added those stupid winks, and the highly annoying shaking window syndrome.but anyway PM, or email: unchosenone <at> gmail <dot> com. -
Sorry I can't be of more help, but mine worked fine in IE, in fact I have problems when using the WYSIWYG editor, in Firefox and so have to use IE, it could really be anything, I would say that you should definately report the problem to Google, using the feedback link at the bottom of the pages they may be able to sort the problem out as the service is still very buggy.

You know I might just give that a try, I also knew about this but for some reason I just don't do it, its not through fear of 'hurting' the computer I simply never took advantage of this feature the msconfig thing though is a must it can have a massive effect on start times (although I'm sure you all believed OpaQue anyway, or knew about this already) any way thanks I'm off to set the hibernate thing. I don't get this hurting the computer thing, I mean is it not kind of like saying switching the computer on hurts it, anyway it doesn't matter after all 2 years is pretty convincing.

Well I just found out about a new webhosting service offered by Goolge, the highly imaginatively titled Google Page Creator, its your basic (ie not very good) free webhosting services, with the massive advantage of its name being preceded by the all powerful Google. I havent extensively used the service but I will atempt a brief overview of the service. The basic service consists of the usual what you see is what you get (WYSIWYG), which is allows novice users to create pages with no knowlegde of HTML (I'm sure you all know ho wthey work). It comes in the usual template form, which I must say is very easy to use, of caurse it won't live up to commercial WYSOWYG editors, and the best way to create good webpages is still to learn HTML (which naturally you can edit with Google Page Creator). It does however offer some actually quite good (well not terrible) templates. the pages will be hosted at username.googlepages.com (I'm assuming most of you have a Google Account). I'n not really sure if there are any advanced features yet (such as FTP access or MySQL). While I haven't used this servcie extensively (I was just so excited at a new Google service I just hjad to share it), I have noticed a quite annoying problem, it didn't really like Firefox (well Deer Park 1.6a1, using Gecko 1.9a1, ain't sure about Firefox 1.5) all that much, I had to use IE, altough I did have alot of Java disabled. it kept telling me another user had ended my editing session, which is odd as IE didn't) Anyway, while I doubt most of the people hosted with Xisto will be flocking to use this as their primary site, I thought you guys should know about this (and a forum search didn't show any posts about it) from what I can see however it does appear to be easier and better (although not as full featured) than both Yahoo's Geocites and Lycos' (that apostraphy is probaly in the wrong place, I never could work those ) Tripod. Update 1: I found a browser based upload tool, currently not functioning for me. Update 2: there is a 100MB usage limit. (which is respectable I suppose, not sure about Geocities and Tripod, please fell free to add their usage limits if you know them) Update 3: there is an Auto-save feature. Update 4: No adverts. (Altough I expect this to change, given that it's where all the money is) Edit: link is pages.google.com

Perfect Free Web Hosting Perfect? Yeah, right
dontmaimyourself replied to Hamtaro's topic in General Discussion
Well there you have it, proof (not that it was needed) of the excellent service that Opaque has set up here, and that he and the rest of the admin team and the moderators continue to uphold to a very high standard, I know I've never had any problems with Xisto (well, except the occasional downtime, but that was due to a server shift so I can forgive them ). Xisto is by far the best web host (and indeed the only forum I regularly visit, and probably the only forum I ever post in) I have used (and I've tried quite a few in the past) non of them offer the service and the features that trap 17 manages to offer so well. I have however not had the misfortune to try perfectfreewebhosting.com, and judging from your experience Hamtaro, I doubt I ever will, well maybe to see how bad it is for myself. -
Getting Enough Sleep At Night heres my advice
dontmaimyourself replied to Professor Kirby's topic in Health & Fitness
Well I must say I defianetlely fall into the not enough sleep category, last night was a classic example I went to sleep at about 6:20AM, woke up (to go to college ) at about 8:50AM, so thats approximately 1 and a half of sleep, which is I guess not good, (this isn't typical though its usually about 5 to 6 hours, altough it has been known for me to not stay awake all night, I will also admit that it definateley makes remembering things difficult, as in I can't remeber alot of what happened to day, I hell I don't even know how this post started. And whoops I'm about to break the no computer after 7:30 rule, no I am now its 7:35PM, although I don't have to get up for college tommorrow, and I am off next week, so I can catch up on sleeping then. Right then I'm off to sleep for a week. -

Magic Gmail To Gmail Drive (2691 Mb) Download Software n guide
dontmaimyourself replied to pham's topic in Software
No but you can have it deleted by Google for breaching the terms of service. -
I tnd to find all of these type of services pretty much useless, I mean its ok if you live in a major city, especially in the US (which I do not) then they put some effort into it, but in lesser known towns they don't usually bother to get any decent images, granted the directions are pretty much spot on and the local business searching is usefull, I just tend not to have a use for mapping services, I would say though that if I had to use one I still prefer the general feel of Google Maps, but you know there are other companies out their besides Google and Microsoft.

My Guestbook And Spam do you have the same problem?
dontmaimyourself replied to Peaktao's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, it appears that this is an ever increasing porblem, my site now has a guestbook link that links to a nice text page that says the 'guestbook is no longer available' or something like that, because I simply could not be bothered with all the spam anymore. Thats just unfortunately the way it is certain individuals, or even 'businesses' feel that this is the best way to convay a message to the rest of the world, I know a favuorite at tmy guestbook was links to drug companies, alright if I ever felt the need to buy drugs for illnesses I don't have (you never know it might be fun) but alot less usefull than the blank space that would have been there alternately. -
Internet Explorer 7 reviews of IE 7 and its Betas
dontmaimyourself replied to haron's topic in The Internet
I downloaded this a few days ago (on my friends computer, I'm much to smart to install Microsoft Betas on my own machine) and I must say I was impressed....I was impressed that Microsoft had managed to make the worlds worst browser even worse, I mean come on when a browser engine can't even render the defualt homepage (msn.com) properly, then you know it's gonna be a bumby ride. I know this will probably change but whats up with the immovable toolbar, that aint where the toolbar lives, oh and yeah the tabbed prowsing is practically identical to that of firefox with two (actually quite good) differences theres a preview type thing and then there is a button at the end of the tab bar that allows you to open a new tab. But guess what both of these features I have in Firefox via extensions. So in case you can't tell (who knows maybe you work for Microsoft and are incapable of rational thought) I was not greatly immpressed with Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2, it just seemed to be a little 'confused' for me, oh and then theres the total incompatance of the thing (that didn't help it). The interface is quite messed. My view of it was that its trying to be Firefox and Opera but it missed drastically, ok so there are a few promising features like the phishing detector, RSS support (although this needs a lot of work, its currently too much hassle to subscribe and view feeds imho) and if they can sort the interface out and who knows go insane and make it W3C standards complient (or at the very least the ability to render CSS somewhere close to what it should look like) then it may manage to sway me. Unfortunaly though wherever there is a copy of IE6 (oh about 90% of all PC's, I think) then this will end up, and the majority of people will use it over the numerous (better) alternatives out there, and I'm fairly sure Microsoft are fully aware of this. -
Hard Disk Capacity All about Spaces
dontmaimyourself replied to delivi's topic in General Discussion
My current hard drive comes in at 40GB, its not ideal but it covers my basic uses, thers about 11GB left so I suppose I've got a fair way to go yet till I've used it all up. I suppose I will get another 40 GB (at least) drive when it gets down to about 5GB(ish) but until then the 40GB drive will do me. -
What's Your Label? ...who are you...
dontmaimyourself replied to PreppyGreenDayPrincess's topic in General Discussion
I really don't mean to be rude or offend people here, but what is it with you people and labels? why must everyone fall into a nice neatly defined category, whats wrong with people just being people, why must everyone conform to your little label thing, and please don't take this the wrong way I'm not having a go at anyone in particular but rather the whole labelling structure that society has taken on recently, I really do think it is pathetic, and before anyone asks no I am not an old person who just doesn't understand, I am a 17 year old who doesn't understand. I really do see this as something that most right minded people should have grown out of by 12 (13 at the latest ). So I hope you understand where I am coming from here (and I appreciate that you have taken the time to read my little rant about society) and I will respectfully not be taking part in societies constant attemts to tell me what kind of person I am. Also on a much lighter note could someone please explain to me who is going to answer loser to this poll? -
Well I seriously doubt that this will ahppen anytime soon, as the rumor was that they would announce it at CES, and CES has been and gone and all we got was the Google Video Store, and the pretty pointless (for most people here I expect) Google Pack,, still a Google OS would be quite cool, but I doubt it would be able to break Windows (sorry for the really bad pun). Unfortuantely windows is one of those things that is left alone by many people as it is just there and most people don't see the flaws with it or don't care enough to go and change OS.

What Is Your Favorite Song? And who is it by?
dontmaimyourself replied to Albus Dumbledore's topic in General Discussion
well this is one of those thing I find massively difficult so I may only be able to narrow it down to a few songs: Dio - The Last in LineDeep Purple (MK 2) - Highway StarDeep Purple (MK 3) - BurnRainbow - All of RisingRory Gallagher - Bad Penny So yeah if you pick one of those it should be chances are it will be my favourite at sometime. -
Windows Media Player Or Quintessential Player
dontmaimyourself replied to iGuest's topic in General Discussion
Update: Quintessential Media Player now does have a Media Library (and yes it is better than Winamps), as well as a completely redesigned interface, it also now has added radio streaming from the media library (I know Winamp does this, ok), and yes I do now prefer this to Winamp.
