Do You Think That Friday The 13th Is Bad Luck?
cangor replied to karlo's topic in General Discussion
haha yeah.I think that if you think it is unlucky you will have bad luck, maybe, but if you don't care then your luck will be fine. Luck, I guess, is all a matter of perception. I mean, whether you're a lucky or unlucky person is really a matter of whether or not you think you are. -
the only ff movie I've seen is advent children. It was okay, I mean it looked great, but it kinda just fleshed out the FF7 world, it didn't really make a ton of sense without the game if you know what I mean.

haha =)TikiPrincess gave some good advice. Also, if you can't afford colleges, most will shell out some money to help you go there just based on need, so don't worry too much about money, I mean, you should, but don't not go to college just because of money or something crazy like that unless you have a really good fall back plan.good luck!

I dunno... I guess I actually do believe in the Loch Ness "monster." There are a lot of things that can't be explained though, and until we get some serious evidence, we won't be able to say for sure, so...

Yeah, you're just nice and calm. Congrats, I can't stand people who freak out over everything. =)

I don't skip class usually, because I'm in a lot of really difficult classes and our school has a really strict skipping class policy. Your parents get called if you aren't present at even one class... However, I know the attendance lady pretty well and I can usually get off about twice a year, plus I can invent being sick and skip maybe a few more times a year... which is kinda funny, because I always come to school even when I'm super-incredibly sick, but, like I said, I skip occasionally, just to go out with friends and stuff... you know, when you just need a break.

hmmm, I guess I'll try to answer this. First of all, there are kids who have everything and get treated like much more from adults than they should, but a lot of children around my age (I'm fifteen, sixteen in three months) get treated just like that - kids. Now, a lot of them deserve that, but, I guess what Will.Allison is trying to say is this: (well, actually this is my story basically, but I guess this is kinda the way Will feels too.) - I am a junior in high school (I actually skipped a year. Most kids in my grade are 16 or 17 right now) - If I want to buy something besides food or clothes, I pay for it with my own money from my own job (which I might add, pays very nicely) - My I.Q. is about 160, which means my mental age is that of a 25 year old. - I am a straight A student taking the hardest classes at my school - I am responsible, courteous, I am always thinking of others and not myself, I am going out of my way to help others all the time - I am an Eagle Scout. (If you're in boy scouts you know how huge that is) - If I break something, (physical or not), I make it right. I could go on but you don't need to hear me talk about how great I am. Basically, my point is my parents still treat me like I'm five, whenever I go into a store I get weird looks from the clerks because they think I'm going to go around shoplifting, when I want to talk to an adult and confide in them they think I'm being ridiculous, and adults in general don't think that I'm anything more than a fifteen year old punk. That about how you feel, Will?

something that helps me...when I'm feeling down and depressed about something, even though that I know in my mind it's really not that bad, it helps me to write down something positive about whatever it is that I feel bad about and reading it aloud again and again. if you think your job sucks, write down a list of twenty good things about your job, read it, and see how you feel. If you think your life sucks, make a list of all the things that are great in your life. e.g. I have a family, a job, a car, a house, I have so many wonderful friends... you know, that kind of thing. A lot of times I'll get depressed over little things but it's just because I'm missing the bigger picture.also, if you're feeling depressed or negative, try exercising, because I always feel good after exercising.Good luck at being positive!

yeah, you're right! Hmmm... anybody here a loner? Maybe they'll start selling real estate there. :XD:

my uncle actually wants XP instead of vista, too, and he's having to pay more for a lousier computer to get it. Dell should at least give you the option to choose whatever operating system you want on all of its computers.

People Who Don't Punish Their Children are bad parents
cangor replied to Mermaid711's topic in The Vent
yeah, I agree completely. I mean, I'm not even out of high school yet so I obviously don't agree with everything my parents did raising me (and I likely never will), but at least they knew to punish me, because I would have turned out a complete brat if they hadn't... I know exactly what you're talking about in your story, too, nothing pisses me off more than a bunch of whiny misbehaving children in a public place. :XD: -
the first one I actually kinda think the guy has a point in, sure, it isn't his business, but were I in his position and I found the other guy was getting supervisor pay I'd be pissed, too.the second one, I totally agree with you, though, because it's not your fault you got injured, plus it was on the job so the company should really be paying you MORE. I usually mind my own business unless i think something is bothering one of my friends or family members and then I tend to pry and try to make things right... I think I just want to make people feel better, though they don't always see it that way...

man I just don't like the idea of the government stealing in general. You shouldn't have to pay property tax, because it's your property. You shouldn't have to pay income tax, because it's your income. Now, I wouldn't be against a tax for using roads or something where we are utilizing a government service, but the government is taking what isn't theirs to take. And, you know, if you look at the budget for the federal government, basically 60% of it is spent on social services and 40% or something like that is spent on the war. I'm a little less angry paying state taxes where I actually see my money going towards something, but being forced to pay for a welfare program for which 95% of the families don't need it and a social security system that's falling apart and a war that I don't support is just ridiculous.

Yeah, and they still at least come with a little bit of a warranty, right? Plus a $150 warranty for a $700 TV sounds a bit steep. :XD:

Theories How The Dinosaurs Got Extinct many
cangor replied to hibbso's topic in Science and Technology
Yeah, there are a lot of theories. I personally am Christian and believe that "The Flood" came and drowned them all, basically what I believe is that God sent a global flood (ya know, the story of Noah and the Ark?) and all the dinosaurs got killed in it, there is actually quite a bit of geologic evidence for this one, and, who knows, there may still be a few left, like the Loch Ness monster and things like that. I dunno, you're right, there are a lot of theories but nobody really knows. -
Best Movie Of All Time? what is the best movie of all time?
cangor replied to lil_chris's topic in General Discussion
everybody likes different types of movies, but I've really enjoyed The Matrix (yeah HoRus!) and Trading Places, which is a hilarious and interesting movie about trading on the stock market. I also really liked Ice Age because Scrat is soooo kyuut! -
Natural Procrastination? I cant get my work done?
cangor replied to Final)arkJon's topic in General Discussion
I dunno, I'm a bit of a procrastinator sometimes, but not with homework. I just wish I could get a 98 average though, I'm probably about a 94. Grade inflation at your school? I'm a junior next year, and I procrastinate less than I used to. :PI recommend talking to someone (e.g. a trusted friend or adult) about your problem and trying to figure this out, and maybe even with a psychiatrist, because if this is just suddenly happening then... weird...Now, this may not necessarily help, but I think making a schedule might help the most. decide a time set aside for homework, and, though you might not be able to enforce it on your own, have a parent yell at you to do your homework when you're slacking during this time, or have a friend call you up and tell you. (might even be fun )Um, I also agree with the "get rid of electronic devices" and the "exercise" statements, but in your case, you might want to get rid of take-apartable pens as well I think exercise is a great idea, too, I'm not a born athlete but I still love to get exercise and play sports, you'll be able to concentrate better when the time comes if you get exercise...I can't think of anything else at the moment, but good luck! -
haha, man, the traffic in Los Angeles DOES suck. Luckily I don't live in California anymore, that's one thing I'm not going to miss. But, let me tell, Seattle and Portland aren't that great either. Though it rarely takes 20 minutes to go 2 miles up north, I still get that every time I go to LA.

Man, that is absolutely rediculous. if you think religion breeds hatred then see what happens when you try banning it. people should have freedom to do what they want, and, plus, I heard this somewhere, but I'm not exactly sure if it's true, but I think that nowhere in the Koran does it condone violence, so what would banning it do anyway? just let people observe what religion they want!
-
yeah, I know. I think we should just stop whining about others and just do the best we can to improve ourselves. Yes, I don't like stuck up rich kids (I live in a town with a lot of them so I would know) but not everybody who's rich and wears designer clothes fits into that category, I know several very nice rich kids, you shouldn't judge someone on their appearance or *gasp* even who they hang out with until you've met them yourself.

rent some books from the library on HTML, but the best way is to learn by looking at html, look for sites that have clean HTML because if they didn't program it in plain html but rather used frontpage or something it will look messy, but you should be able to learn a lot from library books, and when you come across a cleanly designed site view the source. (view->page source/ctrl+u in firefox)
