Paris Hilton Released On Health Issues
master_bacarra replied to k_lo_91's topic in General Discussion
well i've seen on the news that she's back to jail for 45 days. good for her. but i don't think it was the judge who let her out after the three days spent on jail. i believe it was the sheriff who said that she needed to be put on house arrest. the judge got angry about this and put her back on jail. i believe it's fair enough since the punishment shouldn't be subjective on whatever position in life you're in, may you be a star, millionaire, or just a simple worker.i say serves her right! some people really need some straightening out. -
well that could be one reason. but the early death age among men are usually related to stress. like what i've mentioned in my previous post, men tend to keep things by themselves and the stress brought by problems in life adds to the pressure. oh and i believe i've mentioned before somewhere in the forum that men are generally the weaker sex. no offense guys (i'm a guy too), but this is true. the Y-chromosome in the genetic makeup of men are what makes them weaker biologically. women have a higher threshold of pain, thus allowing them to withstand the hardships of pregnancy and giving birth. men, surprisingly, react instantly on a simple prick. anyway, i could go on, but i think that would be out of topic

well, i'm just re-iterating what most people here have mentioned. use Wordpress. that's the best blogging application you can use for your hosting. i'm using one for my blog. i used to write my own php code for my blog, but for a neophyte like me in php, i could really use some help. right now, i'm starting on making my own template for my blog and put some relevant plugins and widgets like gravatar. at least my background in php would make me understand most of the codes in wordpress.and if i'm really excited, i might consider making a Java-based blogging tool that's a lot like wordpress.

Any Recommendations On A Cooling System For A Laptop
master_bacarra replied to Saint_Michael's topic in Software
my [former] classmate also has a cooler similar to the ones in the picture. i was surprised because i haven't heard about such before. i know, where have i been? hahaha. anyway, one of my batchmates in college said he had an air conditioning system installed in his room just for his laptop, but he said it wasn't helping that much; although i know it would probably be less hot in your place than here in the tropics -
lol, i thought you're gonna leave trap already. and you're here for just a month? enjoy your vacation!

well you could just use openoffice writer. it can import your files to pdf. moreover, if you want pdf on the go, you could go to pdfonline.com. they can convert your files there and send it to your email address. i've used that last year during the start of our semester.

i've heard about that killer sudoku. in fact i've seen a book from a classmate. he asked me to solve one puzzle, but i wasn't in the mood because we were stuck in a place during a storm. i was more worried about some other stuff back then silly me. but yeah it was a blank sudoku puzzle, but the clue was the "sum" thingy. kinda cool. might look for a book later myself.

Animal Cruelty Why do people harm helpless animals
master_bacarra replied to velma's topic in Home & Garden
you make it sound as if it's just normal to be frustrated and take all those frustrations on someone or something like animals. while i do agree that being frustrated is part of being human, taking the frustration and focusing that one someone else (or something else) isn't normal. what's more disturbing is your usage of the word "normal" to describe man that puts his frustrations on his kids. that's not even normal, that's insanity. and even if that wasn't what you meant by "normal", separating the man that beats his kids to the man that beats animals, doesn't make any sense. it doesn't make you any "normal" beating up a kid than beating up a dog or cat. "may" is the operative word in the phrase put in bold. it means there is a possibility, but not likely. i wonder how you're able to determine something that may or may not be a trend in the news. and even if these things were featured more on the news, it's most likely because it's something that has to be addressed more. that whatever you do to harm creatures would cost you some time in jail or whatever equivalent punishment. however, it doesn't mean kids bullying others isn't as "special" as humans beating up animals. any form of violence is associated with these things, and whether it is on animals or kids, it's still a form of violence, and has to be dealt with accordingly. that's weird, sometimes animals are more easy to get along with than humans, which is quite ironic because humans are animals themselves. i guess with great intelligence comes great arrogance, that's why humans easily develop hatred toward its own kind. but i think, more importantly, since humans have developed this notion that humans are a level above than other animals, it's more okay to hurt the more defenseless animals than humans. lol. i've never heard of frogs eating little mice and would be the same in the wild. i wonder if the frog chokes after swallowing the entire mice. -
lol, i love sudoku. i'm not sure if i want this one though. do you have a sudoku generator? that's much cooler than a sudoku solver... after all, the main point of the game is to solve it using your own abilities.

I Need Recipes That Are Easy And Very Quick To Make
master_bacarra replied to velma's topic in Health & Fitness
here's another recipe. it's a local dish called adobo. i'm giving this because this is one of the well-known local dishes here in the philippines. it's best served with rice. you have to have at least 30 minutes to an hour for this dish to complete (or probably some more) including preparation time (well you could cook the rice while cooking this dish). there are two variants of adobo, there's chicken adobo and pork adobo. you could also combine chicken and pork to make chicken and pork adobo in recent times there are also other variations, instead of using pork or chicken, we also use squid (adobong pusit). you need 1/2 kilo of pork or chicken. pork is cubed about 1 inch, chicken is cut up 1 cup of vinegar, white 1/2 cup of soy sauce 1 teaspoon of salt 1/2 cup of water 2 cloves of garlic, crushed 1 teaspoon of black pepper, usually we use the whole, but i prefer it to be crushed. your choice 2-3 bay leaves optional ingredients (for added flavor) 1 tablespoon of brown sugar (if you're using white sugar, use less) or you could use 1/2 cup of pineapple juice 1 cup of pineapple tidbits some use wine for the sauce (well, not really in our country) instead of water, other variations call for coconut milk. the most common style of cooking this dish is by putting all of the ingredients except for meat, salt, pepper and bayleaf on a pot and wait for it to boil then add the meat (if you're going to do the chicken and pork combo, put the pork first because it will could longer then add the chicken), put the lid on and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes. remove the lid and add pineapple tidbits, let the sauce reduce before serving. another style is by frying the meat first, browning it on sides so as to seal in some of the juices. it makes the meat more tender, in my opinion. you put oil on your pot and brown extra garlic to infuse the flavor, then pan fry the meat. if you're doing the combo, fry the chicken first, then the pork. don't fully cook the meat because you're going to add the liquids and cook it again. put all the meat back on the pan and put all the ingredients except for bayleaf and tidbits. let it simmer and add the bay leaf and tidbits and let the sauce reduce. serve with rice. enjoy! -
favorite band would be dishwalla. totally love their songs and their albums. next would be rooster. too bad they've already disbanded. i was expecting their next album to come out but they've already broken up.

An Instant Messaging Result chat over multiple clients
master_bacarra replied to etycto's topic in Software
you can also use meebo. i've heard about trillian, the smiley set of that i use on my tagboard. i've heard meebo will create a desktop application soon. meebo allows you to connect to your favorite client using your username and password. and you can also create a single meebo account and customize it so you can connect to some (if not all) of your accounts in different clients. -
Anyone Have Tried Wireless Internet ?
master_bacarra replied to RemoteConnection's topic in Computer Networks
i've used it before, but i'm more into the wired. why? because it's much faster. wireless internet has a lot of cons, and one apparent con is the error-checking of the data sent, thus making the connection a bit slower than the usual "wired" internet. i'm into downloading videos that's why i'm not into wireless. if i'm just surfing the net, i'd probably use wireless. -
Hair Straightening Products Any luck with them?
master_bacarra replied to Rosaline's topic in Health & Fitness
i've tried perming iron because i have curly hair. it's such a hassle. yes i'm a guy and i've tried it out. bad move. i've had my hair straightened out before, just once, bad move. lesson learned. i have very thin hair so any hair products should be used in moderation. i don't color my hair and i don't have it straightened out anymore. in fact, i have my hair cut to the second shortest measure on the electronic clipper so i have this semi-bald, buzzed cut. i keep it nowadays. i would probably keep it forever. it just terrifies me to see my head going bald, despite my hair at normal length (men's cut of course). i once saw my pic after a friend took it using his camera... not good. one of the reasons why i started having my hair cut to the shortest. i won't say i'm happy with it, but at the very least i'm satisfied. at least i won't get horrified when i look in front of the mirror.hope you have your hair problems solved. -
I Need Recipes That Are Easy And Very Quick To Make
master_bacarra replied to velma's topic in Health & Fitness
well, i love food in general (who doesn't? oh wait, maybe there are some who hates food or at least cooking it), and i totally love to cook. there are some stuff you can mix up if you have just a small amount of free time in your hands, usually includes sandwiches and some finger foods. you could also just make up some dips for your favorite chips if you are really on the go, but of course you probably want some dishes that could really fill up your stomach.you could serve up some bruschetta. take a bread, most likely a french bread, slice it up and lay it on your sheet pan. warm it up on the oven for just a few minutes, probably just a minute or two. take it out and slice a clove of garlic and rub it on each slice of the bread. now for the topping, you could just go simple with just canned crushed tomatoes or tomato sauce and some cheese on top. anyway, on a pan, put some oil and mince some cloves of garlic (depends on you and how many you're serving. i love garlic so i usually use like two or three) and throw it on the pan to infuse the flavor with the oil. add your tomatoes (crushed or sauce, i'd rather use the crushed for some bite). you could add some herbs for flavor, i don't use them because i don't have herbs at home season your sauce with salt and pepper to taste. go easy on the salt because you'll put cheese on the bread later. place a spoonful of sauce on the slices of bread and you could either put a slice of cheese on top of each bread or grate it first then place it on top of the bread, your choice. then put the slices of bread back to the oven and heat it until the cheese melts. yum-oh! :lol:how about some pasta? the simplest pasta i've seen was on guida's show on food network, everyday italian. it's just cooked pasta mixed with garlic-infused olive oil with some chili flakes. just cook your pasta according to package instructions (but i hope you know how to cook pasta al dente). on a pan, low heat, put olive oil depending on how much pasta you're cooking (you don't want your pasta to be too oily) and put three (or more) cloves of crushed garlic. this will infuse the flavor of the garlic on the oil. then when the oil starts to sizzle, you can add chili flakes to spice it up. remove the cloves or you'll end up burning it. mix in the pasta and you're done.you could also mix up some sandwiches from leftover chicken, turkey or duck, or even ham or pork. it doesn't take a rocket scientist to mix up something from your refrigerator. slice up some leftover meat, add some greens, top it off with your favorite relish and condiments. layer it all off on your favorite loaf. you could heat it up if you want and you're done. it's that simple (now i sound like one of those people in home tv shopping). earlier i saw a slice of watermelon in our fridge and got some condensed milk and lathered it up on the watermelon. yum :Pof course i know you want some easy way through this and you don't have time to brainstorm for some random food out of your refrigerator, so yeah i would love to give you more recipes, this time some local recipes, but i hope you have more time on your sleeve because our local dishes takes up some time to cook. -
for real? maybe it's just your internet connection that has problems. i can access my account. no problem here. or maybe your account got suspended.

Internet Site That Allows You To Send Text Messages
master_bacarra replied to Albus Dumbledore's topic in Computer Networks
i used to go to http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ before. it's like myspace but its main feature is the sms. you can send sms to other people through their website. i believe they only offer a certain number of sms per day. i haven't gone to their website these past few days because the last time i visited, i can't even see which part of the page is the sms feature. i believe they're having problems.yahoo messenger has some drawbacks. the most apparent is that you're only limited to 2 or 3 messages, i think. you'll have to wait for the other end to respond directly on your account so you could send messages again to their cellphone. sometimes, there are network providers that aren't allowed to receive messages (or probably not compatible with YM yet). you'll know when the error comes out.i currently use a desktop application called chikka. i use it mainly because my cellphone isn't working anymore. you're also limited to a number of sms you can send to a specific number but my friend told me that the workaround for this is that you should remove the number from your "buddy" list then add them again so you could send messages again. don't know if it works because i haven't tried it yet. i'm not much of a cellphone person anyway. -
Getting Fresh Water From The Ocean - My Idea
master_bacarra replied to dazappa's topic in Science and Technology
one way of getting fresh water from the ocean is by freezing it. i think someone mentioned that you could get it from the polar caps. yes indeed. the water that you get from the ice on the polar regions are pure. once the water comes to the polar caps and freezes, any impurities are taken away from the water. i believe my marine science prof told us that this is one of the techniques used to make juice concentrates.so there you go. well whichever process takes faster will be most beneficial to humans. -
Yahoo Copies Gmail/gtalk Set Up Within Their Own Email
master_bacarra replied to Saint_Michael's topic in Software
where is this located in the mailbox page? is it only available in beta? i wonder how they're able to integrate that feature, considering you're not allowed to log-in on a same account on two different stations, or in this case, different applications. i know gtalk/gmail allow that because they append the resource name (i.e., the application name) on the end of the email address. for example you have a gmail account of john.doe@gmail.com, when you connect to your mailbox, it instantly signs you in on the chat app integrated in the mailbox. and if you check the message format sent by that account, it has the following jabber ID format: john.doe@gmail.com/gmail (and sometimes it includes some alphanumeric sequence). when you're connected to a gtalk client, it would have the jabber ID of john.doe@gmail.com/gtalk. in that sense, you could login on different jabber-compliant chat apps using the same jabber ID. pretty amazing huh? lol this was part of my thesis that's why i know these stuff. :lol:oh wait... it's about yahoo! hehehe. too bad i rarely use my yahoo account anymore. -
Girls.. Asking Me Out? is it strange
master_bacarra replied to Tramposch's topic in Dating And Relationships
hmm... well it's either the girls really like you that you're attractive for them, or they're just playing you out. i personally think it's the former. and if that's the case, then you're one lucky man. i mean if girls are the ones who start asking you out, then it must be a good thing. i didn't say it's not normal for girls to do the first move, actually, it's part of the change that comes in turn of the century, that it's not always the guys who do the first move. i believe girls think that if guys don't have the balls to do it, then it should be them who should make the first move. it's empowerment on their part. don't take any offense in it. the problem with guys is that it makes them less of a man if they don't make the first move, and they feel like they're a humiliation if they don't do it.if they're playing you out, it's not good, but don't panic. try to contain yourself and ride along. it's your turn to pull out your guns and turn the situation around. when you find out that they're playing you out, you can turn the situation in your favor. and if done successfully, you could make them fall for you. in that way you can teach them not to mess with you.
