Scoop: Mod Velma's Birthday! greetings on velmas birthday go here :D
arnz replied to serverph's topic in General Discussion
Happy Birthday, may not know ya.. But hope you indeed had a good day and get the presents that you indeed wanted.Have a good one. -
I may have replied to it at some point.. But car racing? watching cars go around and around all over again.. No thanks. Also, while Golf is good to play after a night out or such, it is indeed, very boring to watch.. I can understand why some people think Cricket is too long, but gotta say Cricket is one of the favs, especially the shortened day/nighters.. although i'm not a fan of the 20/20, but those that may usually not like cricket may not mind the 20/20 cricket format.

I'm a bit of a every now and again dude. But am a drink after work with mates/friends/etc. Especially with nights out on the town usually every 2nd weekend or so... good times to be had by all, especially having a good look at the females out on the night.. provided of course they are the available ones

Today down under in South East Queensland, it's been really really hot. It's like summer came early, but the weather forecasts from the day before said it would cool down late arvo/early evening with some thunderstorms. It didnt really come untill late into the evening, but the cooldown in the evening was appreciated.

As I said before in a thread in a related subject. Halloween doesnt seem to be that popular down under in Australia. Although some younger people do at least do the trick or treat thing on its night. As for what I'm doing, it'll probably be a quiet night, which isnt any different from the past few years although I will probably buy a packet or two of mini-(chocolate brand name) bars to give to the kids that actually bothers to do the custom. Also, some commercial may or may not celebrate it, considering it isnt as popular here.

Seems South Africa has outkicked England to a 15-6 victory. Sadly it was no tries, and mostly decided on a penalty-thon. Far too much kicking rather than smooth running of the ball. Either way, congrats to the South Africans.

A good idea to boost the population if the trend is going down, but for countries that are already overpopulated (eg some in Asia, and parts of large mass countries eg LA in the USA), it could be an issue. But yes, at the same time it should really encourage that you should have a baby when only you feel that it is the "right" time to do so, and not rush into things. This would also have to be talked over with couples, considering some couple could run into differences when faced with a scenario like this.

During periods I work (contractor those days), I usually sleep around 10:30pm-11pm, wake up at 6-6:30am the next morning and head to work. On my days off, inbetween jobs and weekends. Then I sleep in a bit later, more later if its weekends. I get up around 8am if inbetween jobs, weekends/holidays around 9am. Inbetween jobs is an interesting part, having to constantly look for other short term type work in the meantime. Have tried the 9-5pm grind, dont mind but can be repetitive imo if in that type of pattern for far too long.

I dont mind this proposal, but provided that this is also enforced on Businesses and organisations down here, the better. Considering the politicians down here do have a bit of a reputation for rolling out promises and so forth before an election campaign, only for the majority of them to dispose of many of them not too long after.

What Do You Generally Use The Internet For ?
arnz replied to red_dragon_here's topic in General Discussion
Many reasons. Work, I'm usually on it at some point during the 7 hours when i'm at Work, most of the time on the internet at work would be for work reasons but also I do use the time to check emails, blogs, forums (This forum included of course!), e-books, comics etc during the breaks. Then at night when I get home its up to 2 hours trying to squeeze in either World of Warcraft or Counterstrike/Halflife time in. So yes, because of work i'm on the net a fair lot but do try to squeeze other things in as well. -
The One You Love Or The One That Loves You which ones best for you?
arnz replied to deejames's topic in General Discussion
Reading only some the post, I'd have to say the one you love, share things with, common interests and so forth. Loving someone but they dont love you back does not work, same thing goes for the other way around (eg they love you, you're not interested). Its best to get to know a person if you are interested in them and see if you both "click". As for nervousness, etc, thats another story to be mentioned in another post. -
At the moment down under in South East Queensland (as I type this post), its clear, its night time.. bit cool and a bit windy. However the past few days we have been getting thunderstorms and showers late in the afternoon after a hot one in the morning. In some areas inland, it's been a bit hotter and some coastal areas have been flooded a bit, but has since settled down.

The Halloween tradition isnt as strong in Australia. But there are a few kids that are out there in force every year dressed up with eggs and so forth, asking the usual trick or treat spiel. Now those days, kids or older teens would rather do something, especially partying and drinking for the later, in despite of the legal drinking age in some countries.

Used to use Trillian, but since most of my friends back from the high school days, and those i chat to online from way back when I started years ago is on MSN. Decided to switch back to mainly MSN. When I started, I used ICQ like most of the current MSN users, but everyone eventually made the switch to MSN, Yahoo or both. Those that used both eventually switch to the Trillian client, which in turn supports multiple messengers in the one application.

Now in most cases, the real websites usually sends a disclaimer through email, their site and their official login page that their login or transactions go through their official URL at (businessname.com.au) for example, and not through any other site claiming to be them. You can tell by the fake login page, and the proper login page by looking at the URL. A fake login page would have a URL which differentiates from the official site.

Westnet ADSL. 512kpbs. Havent moved up to ADSL2 yet despite living on the Queensland coast, but from my end we are middle class working trying to earn a living. Before that we were with Access One, Ozemail and OzForces.. which all ironically were swallowed up by bigger ISPs such as Iinet, Internode and the like.

Also, there have been pushes to push the Learners minimum age to 18 by various groups and organistations around the world, parents groups are one example. In Australian states, the requirements for holding a license before graduating to the next type of license varies. For example in Queensland, the Provisional License system has been changed to 2 levels. a P1 license (Red P Plates on the car), and a P2 license (Green P Plates on the car). To graduate from P1 to P2 iirc, requires a hazard perception type test which requires the driver to identify what they would do in harzardous situations. As for going from Learners to P1, in all states, a practical drivers test would apply. Starting off with Learners, is a written multiple choice test, in which the majority of questions has to be correct.

The Los Angeles Lakers, Orlando Magic and Chicago Bulls teams of the 90s. Hakeem Olajuwon (Sp), Barkley, Rodman, Shaquille O'Neal, Jordan, Dennis Pippen, Magic Johnson were good back in their days. Also didnt mind Longley considering he was one of the few Aussie-born players to play in the NBA on a regular basis back in the 90s.

arnz replied to assassin9110's topic in General Discussion
Outback Australia. Western Queensland just past Toowoomba, and also north west as far as Gayndah and Munduberra. Mid 30 temperatures in Summer, yet some of the outback towns have pretty good fruit picking seasons. -

Congratulations, good to see business knowledge and IT skills put into good use to form your own Hosting company. Good luck with the next year, and the many years to come.
-
Or I'd suggest hosting 2 versions, your local language, and a English one. Since this is a active forum, many readers will at some stage going to visit your site for whatever reasons. Varying from whatever the subject of the site is, to curiousity.

A number of meta tags could help speed up the indexing process into google as well. As well as links to more known sites, which in effect passes on to your site through the better known or more populated site. Eg a well known forum puts your link up, your link is indexed in other sites but google, and provided you got meta tags and keywords, then you should well be on the way to getting the site listed quicker.

AT first thought, I thought oh not again, Microsoft buys out a competitor and screws around with the functionalities of Firefox, which big companies seem to do when buying out a threatening competitor.. but wait a minute. It's eventually a parody site of Microsoft and Firefox fused together. Have to say it's hilarious though, especially with attempts to shut out competing anti virus products such as Symantec and the like

Hadnt had any problems with Firefox thus far, I've heard little about the crash, but never really got it on any of the computers I've used with Firefox. So as the OP may have said, it could have been a issue with the older computers which are slower, with less mb of ram (for example, a old P3 866mhz with 128mb of ram). Apart from that, as for memry guzzling, would be interesting to have a look at it as personally I hadnt really checked how much RAM/Memory/Cache it uses yet.
